When is your schools enrolment deadline? You had your interview on the 30th of August It's too early to start making enquiry about your visa status at the Embassy. If your enrolment deadline is still far wait for a month after interview before contacting the Alien Authority in the Administrative region where your school is located not the Embassy.

Since you will be graduating in 2017 according to you. Why not wait after graduation when you'll be sure of having your certificate at hand before registering for English language proficiency tests? because this tests expires after two years.

Secondly, you can begin to search for schools now if you wish so as to know the schools to apply to when the time comes. You will find a lot of universities/courses via the website: (www.daad.de/en). GRE is not a compulsory requirement for most of the schools in Germany.

It's not all the universities that are under uni-assist. Infact, almost all the top universities are not under uni-assist except the ones in Berlin.

The German Academic Exchange Service website above will give you all the information you need.

Good Luck.

Good Morning to all the member in the house I have been reading up on art one of the thread and currently following up on two i think i have the basic concept of the admission process and visa application but i have just one problem and that is which school to apply t I'm currently an undergraduate in 300 level studying Computer Science i would love to do my masters in either Software Engineering or Software Development or Computer Science with a specialization in Cognitive or Information System I've found two University that offer Some of the courses i named above and they are the University of Frieburg and Fulda University of Applied Sciences and Maybe Technische Universität Kaiserslautern. Now I'm these three for now are my only option but i'd like more I'm graduating in 2017 by the grace of God and my current CGPA is 3.1 I'm therefore appealing to the house if anyone has any idea of another University offering the above stated course i'd be much obliged to him or her and then also if the universities in question can be processed using uniassit.de it would be more helpful to me and then also i'd like to ask is it advisable to take the ielts or toefl now or when its time to process the admissions and visa. And please where can one write the GRE in both Abuja and Lagos and thirdly any links to learning german would be appreciated i've already gotten some materials from the former thread android appps and the rest
Danke

University of Gottingen is rated more than University of Hamburg or Bremen. Gottingen ones made the list of German Universities of Excellence Initiative but Hamburg and Bremen has not been able to make that list.

Why wait till Monday when you can walk into to the embassy and submit a new Deutsch Bank form for blocked account opening? If your schools enrolment deadline is still far you can wait till Monday. But if your schools enrolment date is close, you've got to run fast don't wait till Monday.

Ogbeni highbeey, You don come again this evening. What is your problem? You asked a question, answers/advise has been given to you on how to go about it. You are still asking. Most people here advised you to do the needful and take a language proficiency test. Still you are not satisfied. What kind of a human being are you? I think the best thing to do to you is to start ignoring you.

Na wa for you ooo!

Na beginners level we dey ooo. Na only the one wey we they take pass for road we sabi. Had my interview early last month. The waiting period is something else. If you have not funded try to fund your blocked account before your interview. What course are you going to study and when is your enrolment deadline?
kanweYest:
Lol , no doubt. Man must reach there before making any payments. I'm just hoping they can get me the room & make all necessary arrangements so once I get there, I'll just pay and move in.

I doubt the Studentenwerken would give me room in time for resumption sha coz I applied really late. Na why I dey consider other options.

& yes, hopefully & by God's grace, I'll also be heading to Tübingen. I never do interview tho. That one is in a few days.

Do you speak German?

I got in contact with one Estate agent too. He advised me never to give a dime to anyone until I see that apartment am paying for live and direct. He said that if I mistakingly send any money to any landlord or estate agent na sorry be my name ooo!

Infact the agent nice baje! I had to call and thank him for the advise. Though the Studentenwerk at Tubingen sent me a list of private landlords to contact in case am unable to wait for them to allocate room to me.

Are you also heading to Tubingen?
kanweYest:
Same here. I'm on the waiting list too.

I've been trying those websites with shared flats and co too but haven't gotten any response, maybe because I didn't write in German.

I've recently decided to try 'estate agents' in Germany. Got in touch with one yesterday that replied today asking what room size, cost range etc that I need . I'll let you know how that goes. I have no idea how much they charge though.

I have something that might suffice. Its a 40-page PDF on information for exchange students. Has estimates for living expenses on page 20-something. I'll hit your email with it in a moment.

There's also a webpage I saved that has similar information, only that its ained at exchange students heading to Uni Tubingen from Singapore or so. Let me know if you'll need that one too.

Has either you or Victz secured accommodation in Tuebingen?[/quote]
Travel › Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by victz: 2:31pm On Sep 07, 2015
Hi, University of Tubingen does not have the breakdown of living expenses on the schools website. That was one of the reasons why I used Union Bank to fund my blocked account. Union bank does not require such informations though their charges might be higher but their services is prompt and effective. Union Bank is stress free.

If you cannot use Union bank try to convince your bank that your school does not have a breakdown of the living expenses.

Pls, check your email for the PM reply.

@highbeey; There are things you'll need to find out yourself without anyone telling you. If only you can start by reading the thread from page 1, it will do you a lot of good. Eke and some other guys advised you to go through the thread it contains a lot of vital informations. It took me several weeks to read through thread from part one and several months before I started commenting and asking questions. Am sorry if my language hurts. This is not the first time Imuhopeful and other people has sent German Academic Exchange website (www.daad/de/en) for you to go through and see for yourself.

Am not against you asking questions that are not clear to you. No one is perfect, no one knows it all. We all ask questions that are not clear to us. But there are somethings that you are expected to know if only you can listen to those who have been telling you to make out time and go through the thread from page 1.

I wonder when it has become a crime for someone to air his/her harmless views. That is the problem with Nigerians. The guys is concerned about his future and someone is telling him that if he doesn't like it that he should move to other countries as if he did not see other countries before choosing to study in Germany.

The story he just shared is everywhere on the news and internet. And someone is telling him to come up with a proof. Did I hear someone saying that Germans are not complaining? Turn on your TV set and watch Germans on Euro News and DW News complaining bitterly. The German parliament is even divided on this issue. Though majority of them welcome it but some of them are more concerned about the eminent dangers we are talking about here. I feel for those refugee fleeing their country because of war. My heart goes out for them.

Sentiments has made some of us to want to dispute the fact that we don't know what this Arabs are capable of. How do you differentiate between suicide bombers and real asylum seekers? It will be absolutely impossible to conduct a screening to know exactly who this refugees truly are.

No one is taking about religion here but the eminent danger ahead.

Provide links to these your claim

Advise

Its nt too late to withdraw your application for Visa...and take your high fees to the Uk .

Like I said earlier on it will do us all good if you study the values of the country you decide to migrate to..if you dont share the values ...stay away from the country ..therr re countries whose govt share your views ...e g United Kingdom and Australia. and as God will have it they both ve reputable MBA programs ...channel your energy towards those countries.

The foreign policy of Germany will not change any time soon ( with respect to this migrant issue) to avoid conflict of interest bros follow my advise

All the best.

Lmuhopeful said that the real refugees are the ones that they left behind in Iraq and Syria and that is true. The young able bodied guys among them are more than the women, children and the elderly. This people has an interior motive.

They were chanting Germany! Germany! Germany! in the rail station in Hungary. Some of them even refused first aid that was administered to them because of a cross that was on the first aid box. I begin to wonder if they hate the Christian cross that much what are they doing in Christian Europe? Some were offered asylum in Austria, Czeh Republic and Iceland some stayed majority left for Germany.

There must be a reason for them to want to go to the heart of Europe which is Germany.
Zeeblamj01:
I definitely hope they do. U can't tell who's coming in... It's a bit scary. I would with open arms take in children .But this men,,,, no way... They could be trained ISIS fighters
Travel › Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by victz: 10:33pm On Sep 05, 2015
One cannot even differentiate between true refugees and well trained ISIS fighters who are using refugee status to gain entry into Europe. There must be a reason why rich Arab nations like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE etc are refusing to take them in.

Many of them refused to stay in other European counties but chose to go to Germany because of the opportunity Germany offers. They have started trekking to Germany since yesterday they left the train station in Hungary because train refused to convey them to Germany. Germany is willing to accept them even as millions will be arriving in days to come. It doesn't even look like it's going to end soon. The war in Iraq and Syria doesn't look like it's going to end soon, no thanks to ISIS.

I just hope Germany knows what they are doing.
Zeeblamj01:
this refugee thing scares the hell out of me. Europe is a ticking time bomb with those..

The reason it's so expensive is demand... Only 40 percent of Germans own their homes... There's so many people to rent... Here's a link. Read through it and find out . And to be honest, I don't think renting in Germany is that expensive. Just in some areas. Big cities, Big money... ..

What I asked was just a question. You answered as if one does not know the importance of abolition of tuition fee. That the issue of accommodation should be looked into does not warrant such response.
number13:
The government eliminated tuition fees. Even for foreign students. Maybe they should provide free accommodation and reinstate the tuition fees instead.
Travel › Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by victz: 6:21pm On Sep 05, 2015
@Zeeblamjo1, Futurewise11, DanIndia and those currently living in Germany. Please, why is it that the cost of accommodation in Germany is so high? Is it that there are lack of availability of housing/infrastructure in Germany or what is exactly the problem? It's like this problem is also affecting their own citizens. A German student studying at the University of Tubingen decided to be living in a train because of this same problem. She said that the cost of living in a train is cheaper than keeping her rented apartment in Stuttgart. And this problem is almost everywhere in Germany. It's even worse in bigger cities like Munich, Hamburg, Frankfurt etc.

If a student should be paying €300 per month out of €670 withdrawn from blocked account monthly for accommodation and another €90 for insurance it means that he/she will be left with €280 for the rest of the month. I know that student jobs after few months can serve as compliments but is there nothing the government is doing to address this issue?

IELTS/TOEFL may not be as difficult as O'Level English in WAEC/NECO but it's more technical than O'Level English. O'Level English may look more difficult because of WAEC's marking scheme.
acedboss:
I wrote IELTS May Last year, and Honestly, I don't know why folks are 'scared' of writing English language tests. IELTS isn't in any way more difficult than WAEC/NECO English exam in my humble opinion. If you were able to have C6 in O-Level English I see no reason why you should score below 6.5-7.0 in IELTS.

my 2 cents
Travel › Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by victz: 3:53pm On Sep 05, 2015
I learnt that TOEFL is easier than IELTS because IELTS is more technical than TOEFL. But when it comes to registration of both tests IELTS registration is easier. You can walk up to British Council and register for IELTS. But to register for TOEFL you will have to go though an agent.

The good thing about language proficiency tests it that it gives you a distinctive advantage over those without.
twinkle1:
To buttress what kanweyest, obiwannn and lmuhopeful have said.. TOEFL is not hard.. Heard IELTS is easier..
Just score 80+ in toefl or 6.0+ in IELTS u can apply to 90% of German schools.

For TOEFL .. Work on ur **SPEED***, then WRITING and SPEAKING sections .. That's the tip for toefl..

For IELTS.. I don't have tips for IELTS not written it before..

That Nigeria is an English speaking country is not a guarantee that all universities in Germany will accept letter of proficiency from the school where he graduated from. Some schools like Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München does not accept any other English proficiency letter/certificates apart from IELTS and TOEFEL. Nigeria is not considered among native speakers of English language. The native speakers are Britain, Canada, USA, New Zealand and Australia.

I hope emailing the embassy won't look as though the applicant is desperate? The other guy said he had his interview and confirmation from DB on the 11th of last month which is not up to a month.
Zeeblamj01:
Are u sure that u both have the correct email address or phone numbers from ur aliens office? It usually takes 3 days for them to reply mails sometimes but they answer the phone if u call at the right time.... I know how waiting can be at times... Keep calling them... Or check that u have the numbers or email address correct. Call the embassy or mail them as well to inquire about the status of ur visa. No harm in that.

Thanks for the advise
zeeblamj:
Hello to u. If u are going from abuja (don't know about Lagos), u might encounter some issues. Do urself a favor. Carry every single document u can think of cause they will look for something to ask for five thousand-ten thousand Naira for. They might ask for admission letter of u say it's a national visa. Infact print all mails from the school, and German Consulate as well as ur insurance and whatever. The guys in Nigeria tend to embarass first time travelers so they can extort money from them. When they don't have any document to ask for, they can't ask u for nothing.
In Germany u will have no such problem. Just walk up to them, give ur passport, they may ask u a few questions and stuff but not unecessary things. Only in France people get embarrassed by d police and immigration at the airport on the first time. Good luck!
