This style of fraud has been exposed many times here on nairaland. I’m glad you didn’t fall though.

It's been the same pattern for a very long time. It's either they ran away with oga's money which is always in the "booth" or they claim to be here for business and have only dollars with them..
I didn't know they use keke until recently when I had an encounter with them. The moment the guy beside me came down and paid with dollar, I knew I was in danger already and I just spoke with the rider in a polite and strict tone and to the Glory of God, he angrily told me to get down..

I've encountered them thrice, first at iyana oworo, they dropped me by one express around palm grove. I noticed the man was from my state from his accent so I pleaded with him, speaking our language that I wasn't interested in the money..
2nd and 3rd experiences were on Ailegun road and Ori oke bus-stop respectively. One dropped me along airport road, while the other dropped me before the next bus stop.

You probably plan to be ready at least an hour before your departure time so even if anything comes up in your mind, you're able to do it and still meet up. Imagine you have a car you use regularly and you don't do monthly maintenance on it, what do you think will happen to it? Same way you should take care of the body you're using for work. Peace
