If she gives birth, why not just give birth for someone who's a citizen and have him apply for her? Or it doesnt work that way?
It's not easy to determine who will marry you or make you his/her legal partner but you can get pregnant for any random guy and keep the child.

A friend of mine is currently overstaying her visa after she was unfortunate to get a COS. It's been 6 months of trying to stay low key as possible as she can. No Facebook presence as such, linkedl is deleted, avoid police wahala etc. Is there a way she can legalize her stay? Coming to Nigeria isn't an option for her, breadwinner of the family
Let her give birth, after 7 yrs she can use the child to regularize her stay.

Go the LGBTQ route and have the community protect you. Yes they can. Infact if you know the loopholes, you will get ILR before you say jack.

Completely agree with the bolded.

I suspect also that the sharp drop in student numbers may be why we experienced a very mild winter this year, and is very probably the reason why Iceland has drastically reduced the amount of chicken in their chicken thighs pack.
I suspect that's why my car insurance provider is increasing my premium at renewal. All this while, I was waiting and hoping premium will go down at renewal. Sad because after using comparison sites, the increased renewal premium was still the cheapest.

Hello House! I need assistance with my car insurance. I have received various quotes, which are pretty high and confusing. I currently hold both a UK Provisional Driving License and a Nigerian License, but I am uncertain which option is the best and most appropriate for me. I have noticed that the quotes I receive using my Provisional License are less than £2,000 per year, while those using my foreign license are over £3,000. I also hoped to get recommendations for insurance companies offering reasonable quotes. I appreciate your help!
Use both the provisional and Nigerian license to your advantage.

Use the below hack. In your case, first use the provisional, wait like a month (don't drive or get an accompanying driver) then update your details. In my case, I updated from provisional to full UK after 4 months and my price remained the same, I only paid £73 update fee.

Viruses:
This is a hack, a legal one but cannot be used urgently because you'll need time. Others thinking of buying a car can try it as well, that is what I did and I'm currently paying like half of what I would ordinarily be paying for insurance.

If you're ready to pass your driving test and ready to buy a car, get a car and get a privisional driving licence.
Get an insurance on the provisional licence, insurance on provisional license is usually very cheap because they know you can't drive with it.

Then take your driving test and pass. Update your insurance to the full license, the insurance price will remain the same or go up just a little.

Does anyone know why an insurance company won’t renew your premium.

I reached out to the customer care but they couldn’t give any reason.

I don go back to admiral jeje since marshmallow has refused to give me a renewal quote.

Only downside is admiral says I can’t protect my 2 yrs NCB. The minimum is 4years
My colleague said he protected his no claims discount for 12yrs, after about 12yrs he made his first claim, at renewal the claim affected his premium, since then he stopped protected NCD

If any "low risk" investment, could guarantee £20 daily returns, on a £2000 investment....... None of us would bother going to work........ 🤣

I go just find £100,000 loan, put am for this "low risk" investment...... 😜😭😂
The loan provider will then charge 1.5% interest per day on the loan.

Na why it's difficult to invest loan money except in business because returns on investment is usually lower than interest rate.

For me, and from my experience. If I have 20k to start a business, I would only start with 2k. Meaning, for me to want to start a business with 20, I should have at least 80/120k.

You can explore the business with 1k or 2k. For me, I wouldn’t rent a shop yet. I’ll explore other means to sell ( get a social media presence), register the business, setup an online image and presence.

You have identified your market, go for them from local marketing and the basics.

Explore the little ways you can, to start the business with just 10% of your 20+.

Then progress from there.
This is a very good one. When I hear people say they haven't started business because they haven't rented a shop/office, I always tell them their problem is not the shop because they can actually start the business without a shop/office space, most do not believe.

Hello all, I’m confused and need all the advice I can get please.
I am a single mom of 1, haven’t been able to work much because it has been a struggle getting something that can fit into my child’s school schedule.
I currently have about £20k and I want to open an African store. The area where I am has a large black population. My confusion is that I am worried if this business can comfortably pay my house rent PLUS shop rent which will total about £2k every month. Does anyone have an idea please help me out of my mystery as I really want to start something so I can comfortably pay my bills.
Thank you.
I don't know much about business but I believe people running successful businesses have one head. If they can do it, you can.

What I know is set aside between 3 and 6 months personal expenditure cover (rent, bills, feeding etc) not to be touched. The remainder is what you should put into the business. Also you don't need to start too big, you can start small and grow.

Does anyone know of any payment providers that accepts new businesses?

Hence I said, OP friend set herself up for a fall..... The insurance company had no choice, but to pay...... Then chase the insured for compensation.......

Let's hope the claimant does not have an ongoing personal injury claim (if this is the case, expect another bill of over £5000)........😂🤣
And lost items claims...chai

This £4,335 now is like 9 million naira. Anyway, it's to reach payment agreement, maybe like £5 or £10 weekly.

The Policy was cancelled due to driver using Provisional License and did not disclose the details of the accompanying driver during the first phone conversation with the insurance investigator as there were threats from the insurance and the claimant mechanic who was in custody of the car. However, she later got the details of the driver but the insurance company never admit to that as it was not disclosed during the first interrogation which was about 2months after the incident.
It looks like the insurance company is not even interested in whether your friend was right or wrong because s/he is not insured in the first instance (i.e driving 'alone' on provisional license voids his/her insurance)

OP needs to clarify why his insurance was voided....... More to the story.........😂

Most of what you stated, is what your insurance company is supposed to do ........ But at the point of a claim, your insurance can run a DD check on the insured and void policy (if any discrepancy was uncovered)......
You're right.

I now remember when we had a debate here on using certain templates to complete insurance applications. Things could really go wrong.

You have simply been fast gamed...... Victim of insurance fraud.... I think you did not act within reasonable time, to challenge this claim.......

Do you have any pictures or videos, of the incident........

(Sorry your friend)......,😂🤣
I have some questions please because I'm getting confused somehow

Assuming I have insurance (comprehensive or third party) following an incident, is the insurance not supposed to fix the other car free in the worst case scenario? I thought that is what insurance is for?

If I cancel my contract, I know I will pay the remaining term, but if my service provider terminates the contract, am I supposed to pay the remaining term? Just like my landlord giving me quit notice within my contract and asking me to still pay the rent till tenure end.

If the position of the insurance company is that contract no longer exist, am I not supposed to be entitled to claims that happened while the contract was in force.

These questions are popping up in my head because I'm thinking that even if there was contact and the OP was in the wrong, the insurance company should still pay for the repairs.

I understand the need for a dashcam, but looking at the last point above, even with a dashcam, the insurance company can just cancel the contract and ask me to pay too because contract no longer exist.

Good afternoon fams,
Trust ya'll are doing great. I greet everyone.

My friend needs help, kindly read and advise.
This is really painful to hear.

I don't know if it's too late to explore this approach, but if I understand how financial ombudsman work (as per my previous experience with them):
Raise a complaint with your service provider (i.e the insurance company in this instance).
Do not agree to close the complaint until you are satisfied.
As you have not agreed to close the complaint, your service provider will officially notify you of their final decision regarding the complaint and say they will implement that decision and close the complaint.
As your service provider has taken a final position, raise the issue with financial ombudsman stating that you are not satisfied with the providers final decision.
Financial ombudsman will take the issue up and your service provider will be mandated to respond according to the ombudsman terms, therefore you MAY not be affected by the 6 months response rule.

If you take an issue to the ombudsman without exhausting the service provider's complaint process up to their final decision on the complaint, then the ombudsman will treat the issue according to the service provider's terms, in fact in this scenario, the ombudsman will need the service provider's approval to treat the issue.

I'm not sure but I believe you have right to see the various evidences and invoices of repairs, you just need to request them through the appropriate channels.

That aside, my friend's 2022 ID5 bumper was scratched, it was fixed with £4k+.

You're missing the point.

Your first post talked about writing things that you've been silent about. In your own words: "You won't know you've committed certain blunders that I overlooked until you take me to court and I present evidence."

Obviously if the employee has breached policy and they have been queried or disciplinary measures (such as warnings) have been documented, then sure you can fairly and accurately include those in a reference.

Surely you can see how those are completely different scenarios.

Anyway, I tire of this debate, feel free to do what you've said sometime sha. It'll be clearer to you then why the vast majority of organizations in the UK choose to simply state when an employee worked and their JD, and only talk about negatives in the worst circumstances like fraud. Even minor queries are usually left out just to avoid ET risk.
Yes...I could be silent about it and mention it in references, after all I am not supposed to withhold information I think should be useful to the body requesting the reference.

I agree that vast majority of employers stick to the template you have mentioned just as vast majority of employers request references from previous not current employment. So this also could be one of the minor cases where an employer could decide to go detailed and bring up minor but valid and variable issues.

A sickness or absence record is one thing. It's a matter of fact and not disputable. The employee will be aware of what's on their record.

Formal disciplinary procedures can be notified as well.

But compiling 'things the employee did wrong' without ever putting them to the employee formally and making them aware/giving them fair hearing, but yet consistently detailing those allegations in references? I'd bet my bottom penny that no employment tribunal in this country will agree that that is fair.
The information I have provided is true, not false. It is well documented, none discriminatory and has verifiable evidence. Whether the company was fair in it's policy of not disciplining every employee post every single or recurring err is another thing.

Just so you know, the company could also have brought these things to the employee's notice, give them fair hearing etc and still mention them in references because doing those things does not invalidate what happened.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Viruses: 10:23am On Feb 19, 2024
Zahra29:
Yes you can. As long as the information provided is fair and accurate, non-discriminatory, and can be backed up if needed, then it's up to the employer/company policy how much detail they provide. For example, you can choose to comment or answer questions on the employee's sickness or absence record.
That was my point.

Perhaps he thought I would fabricate stories, I won't fabricate stories, I will simply bring up things that I would ordinarily overlook.

Perhaps I don't know how certain things work.

But if you have a habit of joining online microsoft teams meetings late for instance, I do not complain or caution you against it, I only note it in your file. Can I not state that in your reference and when the need arise, I use the attendance sheet generated by Microsoft teams that shows the time each person joined the meeting as evidence?

https://www.gov.uk/work-reference

It's probably best not to apply any sort of Nigerian logic to things here. What you just described is illegal here as any bad reference must be backed up by hard evidence. If your employee sues you, they ll never have to work again.
I did not mean I will fabricate things against you. As an employer, I can easily pick up things I could ordinarily overlook and use it against you in referencing and it will be justifiable. You won't know you've committed certain blunders that I overlooked until you take me to court and I present evidence.

That aside, what do you mean by the bolded? Will the employee take over the company if he wins?

Guys please,

What can someone do if they suspect their current employer is bad mouthing them to prospective employers. Like whenever it gets to point of reference, the previous place employement is always sorted. However when it gets to current employer everything scatters it has happened with two people and with about 5 different prospective employers.

And this current employer is the one sponsoring them.
If I take the risk of bringing you in on sponsorship, training you on the job etc and then you come to me for reference to go to another company, that thing that gave you the mind to come for the reference will give me the mind to scatter it for you too 😀😀😀.

Your best bet is use your friend in the company for the reference, not the HR or MD.
