reddingtonblack:The opposition is not strong and committed. They don't want to make sacrifices. Each of them is in a hurry for power. They think that effective opposition is to abuse everything Tinubu and disagree on every policy. Tinubu spent sixteen years as opposition. Built bridges and engineered the only political merger in Nigerian political history. The Buhari northern mass followership, Tinubu galvanization of the west, PDP that Jonathan couldn't manage, OBJ's hands off on Jonathan and then the Tinubu wealth and political wizardry. Jonathan couldn't match any of these. The present opposition cannot provide any of these. They think that talking all the time and hopping from place to place is opposition. They glory in the accolades of social media. You can imagine that they want to copy APC template but they forgot that APC is a merger but they went for coalition. Coalition is loose gathering of personal interests but a merger is the gathering of group interests. Can't you see that all those holding political positions don't want to risk their 2027 chances with the coalition. Amongst their possible candidates Atiku with all his failing is the only one that has the capacity to manage complex Nigeria but he has been defeated on all sides. He's down and out. Obi? Hahaha 🤣😂. If he wins a presidential election he will spend months trying to form a cabinet. The pressure of this alone will wear him out. Remember the Buhari experience. |
UzorIyke:You believe statisense because it favours your narrative. |
Ofunaofu:Prices of goods and services are skyrocketing? Are you in Nigeria or DR Congo? |
Melagros:You are not Nigerian economy. If you didn't experience growth, others might have experienced. Have you not seen the performance of companies? |
Lastmankc:It is under Tinubu that APC is experiencing leadership unlike Buhari that was a dumbe. When a party has strong leadership many people will like to join. When OBJ was the leader in PDP there was order and the party was well organized. Immediately he left everything scattered. |
Macphenson:Very simple....the supply side of the equation. The concrete roads are new to our construction material usage. So much consumption. The producers are penetrating the neighbouring countries to earn fx which is more naira for them. They need time to expand their capacities. Everything is not dollar dollar. |
When the 2024 results of companies came out last year and they recorded heavy losses as a result of exchange rate adjustments Obi and the gang went to town to tell us how Nigeria is finished. Now that we have exchange rate stability and companies are posting impressive results they are telling us that the common man is not feeling the gains. No matter what they will criticize but will not tell us what they will do differently. |
Validated:Do you really understand what is meant by e-transmission? |
Validated:This is no real-time transmission anywhere in the world. |
Obiedun:How about Obi? His state governor couldn't follow him. No senator. Nawaaoo. |
Macphenson:You are the one that don't understand economics. You guys are obsessed with dollar. Products that are produced locally that has minimal imported input, how can exchange rate reasonably affect the price? About 90% input material for cement production is sourced locally. |
MEGAWATCH:I can't add what I don't know. I don't speculate like you. The ones that I wrote here are in the public knowledge. |
ComeToJesus:Keep saying this. Election is just ten months away. No structure, mobilization, strategic planning. Just conference upon conference. Social media upon social media. When those that worked hard win you will come back here to accuse them of rigging. |
RollinTNDA:Where are the opposition parties? ADC and NNPP. No governor, no senators. Two obscure parties. Where are LP, PDP, etc. Opposition are only David Mark, Atiku and Obi. Hahaha 🤣😂 |
Hemanwel:Which voting type do you want? Mention one country with proof in the world that do it. |
mactoni91:This is the language of a failure: all people that are passing are bribing teachers. |
MEGAWATCH:Did Tinubu withstand OBJ? Yes. Why can't the present opposition withstand him. Did Tinubu jump from party to party? No. He stayed, built and protected his party. Why can't the present opposition do same? Did Tinubu engineer a coalition? No. A coalition is an assemblage of people that are frustrated out of their parties. Tinubu engineered a merger of political parties. It has never been done in Nigeria before. He spent his money, time and sacrificed his personal ambition to build a formidable party. Why can't the present opposition do the same? Since the day Tinubu's party gained power opposition died. Opposition requires patience, sacrifice, sound ability to mobilize people. For 16 years Tinubu was in opposition he didn't jump to another party. He was busy building at the background. All the major characters in opposition are in a hurry and looking for easy way to power. |
Ofunaofu:This opposition must be weakler. No resistance, no organization but just chochocho. They are not even telling us what they will do differently. If you are a politician would you choose ADC, PDP, LP, NNPP over APC? The opposition couldn't even attract prominent people to join them except those that can't find space in APC. |
This is the place where you will wake up one morning and hear: I brigadier......... then you will know that edon happen Next radio Nigeria at ikoyi will be taken over Next martial music on the station Next curfew After few days a new face will emerge and that's the new head of state. |
Kobicove:It was an illegal money He didn't disclose but disguised it Most importantly he didn't pay tax because of the disguise |
Thedon22:Don't mind those people. Check my comments here when Cardoso was appointed. I worked very closely with him during his days at citizens bank. He's good and has large pool of brilliant people as friends. I said then that he will do well. |
Richtaiwo:It makes economic sense. A good currency is not supposed to have high oscillation. There should be stability. Movements within a range is acceptable but outside it unacceptable. For example exporters have done their planning with a range of exchange in mind. If there is sudden appreciation the importers might cancel their orders. All budgets in Nigeria are in naira. There are benchmark exchange rates used. Sudden appreciation will throw them off balance. We keep telling people that exchange rate management is not like they tell us to bring it down to #500 to $1. The good thing is that there is evidence of availability of dollar. If there is any event that will trigger high rates then CBN will pump in dollar to moderate it. This is managed floatation. The Nigerian economy is on the upward swing. I hope that politics will not waste all our sacrifices. |
Is Obi the founder of ADC? When last did you hear of Atiku, Amechi and Tambawal? That was how he came to LP and hijacked everything. He will not build or manage but just come in and ride on the wave. Come ooo. Why is it that everyone in ADC is either hater of Tinubu or frustrated from their previous parties? No originality, no principle, no ideology. Up till now ADC has not been telling us of what they will do differently. All that they do is attack and condemn. Is this the new Nigeria that they will give us? |
asfrank:Obi's own is go from place to place and make noise. He can't organize any political party. |
hrhobi1:They go arrest you to explain. This was how elrufai landed in trouble. He's bleeding from his nose now. Chochocho is dangerous. |
Titogbanski:No...let the reserve be zero. That will be better. Did you study even elementary economics at all? |
Chickensoup:What Oseni said was all lies. A simple investigation would have proven it. All these studios journalists that don't investigate anything. A check on INEC portal would have given him the truth. |
Osariemen12:Even cheques can have cancellation on them and you sign it. |
geoworldedu:What was written in words? What was written as the total votes cast? INEC uses adhoc staff that majority are young people that were trained for two weeks or thereabout. |
TechBaron:If you have errors or network issues, what is your backup? Why do you talk of hard copy and soft copy? |
Doo1:My friend cool down and read. If you have comprehension problem tell us and we will help you. Everything is fully explained by INEC here. |
Federalofficia:We keep telling people that the value of a currency to the dollar doesn't determine the performance of the economy. There are fundamental things to consider. When you want to discourage imports it will pay you to have low value to the dollar so that imports will be expensive. An export oriented country will benefit more if their currency is low in value. Most Asian currencies have low value to the dollar. The Nigerian situation is because the only major export which is crude oil is priced in dollar and the price is determined internationally. In the days of so much petrodollar the government arbitrarily fixed the value high. This encouraged all manner of imports. Industries died because it was cheaper to import finished goods than to produce locally. As the petrodollar started reducing we couldn't defend the high rate. First we started borrowing to defend it. Secondly we started selling upfront to defend it. Funds that should be used for provision of infrastructure were used to defend the naira. We got to a dead end so we have to reverse the old order. Of course it will affect everything in the economy. We are going back to the Asian model. Devalue, make imports more expensive to discourage imports and encourage local production. Exporters will earn more. In time past I personally use foreign suits, shirts, perfume etc. They are too expensive now so I use locally produced ones. My shoes are still foreign but I manage them carefully because they are not cheap to buy. |
