Family › Re: Being A Strong Woman Isnt Remarkable, It's Normal - Adichie by vislabraye(m): 11:34pm On May 30, 2015 |
missterious: Because of the world we're born into, it's a natural thing to undermine females. I personally am guilty of it sometimes. I apologize for seeing my period, for being female. A random guy tells me men don't like ladies who use dark lipstick & I stop using it. I automatically assume touchmeder (one of the best writers on nairaland) is male because she writes so well.
But feminism creeps in on you. You begin to wonder why even a stranger on the street tells you to "smile, you're a woman". Seriously? -__- Is there like a gene for smiling specially installed in females? You watch an extremely sexist movie that basically says men are gods & should be worshipped & "catered for" whether you feel like it or not. I'm not your f*cking slave.
And for those that will mention marriage now, marriage is not a gateway to heaven. Don't take this to extreme... . Female will always be different from men in many aspects. It's more normal for a woman to have a cheerful countenance than men. But I hope you women know that you can't eat your cake and have it. If being a strong woman is normal, then it should be normal for women to walk up to any guy she likes nd ask him out instead of the other way. It should also be abormal for women to expect men to spend on them. Many women in our society ose their feminity to get what they want. But when it's the other way, they'll shout sexism. |

Chidoks: Oga journalist,it's unfortunate you went through torture but ethically weren't you supposed to seek and obtain permission before snapping a private residence or is his house now yours? . What will be your reaction if you catch someone, anyone snapping your house not to talk of a president's private property? . Weren't you taught??even common sense should have directed you to act appropriately.I'm saying this because if I catch anyone taking a snapshot of my little small house me and the fellow will wear one leg of trouser o! How much more a president's house with guards abi you no see them You spoke the truth. This is no longer about about politics but more about common sense. I don't think you can go to Obasanjo farm and start taking pictures of it without permission. He even went with his blackberry phone. |

laykorn: Permission to take pictures? Do you go about taking pictures with your blackberry phone for that matter You don't have regards for someone's privacy. How do we know you are a journalist when you don't go with your usual big camera ? Anyone can use a blackberry. Next time, he should follow due protocol. |

Probably this was the biggest occasion he has performed in and was just so nervous. I know he'll definitely get better. It's stage fright. Tot someone like Alibaba is more suitable for such occasions |

mayorbaron: this man is just UNBELIEVABLE. After all the lives lost, all the hardships, rapes, bombings and the gallant lives of our soldiers lost and he dares open his mouth to talk of amnesty. even the devil himself will weep if this happens and may the souls of the innocent that died for no just cause not forgive this man for even suggesting this. That's to tell you how irresponsible some of these governors are. I don't want to call him a fool even though I feel like. |

otunsman: I dont think it's only chocola royal that is guilty of this nefarious act.I bought sausage roll yesterday and today.Kingsway gala and chivita super bite to be precise. It has expired since 25 of may and these retailers buys the expired products from the companies too. Some of the high profile supermarket dont dispose of their expired product. They sells to customers at reduce prices while same customers changes the expired date and resell to unsuspecting customers. What you observed is true, but chocolate royale should be punished for what they did. |

mmsen: Nothing justifies them selling junk but there is even less reason to buy it once you come to realize that not only are most of these foods unhealthy for you but that the people behind some of the operations are shady and are putting your life in even greater jeopardy.
Consumers have a choice.
You can patronize good businesses or bad ones. Consumers have a choice and the government also has the responsibility to clamp down bad business practices. This is a criminal offence. |

NAIJA is a big joke. Nothing justifies those basstarrds for doing what they did. It's not a matter of prefering foreign products or not to our local ones. After all, cake and icecream are not Nigerian food |

Neeger this country is harder, you were lucky to get a job. my advice is you shouldn't have venture into a relationship with your boss.... From my own observation she's using you to satisfy her sexual desire. You will soon get stale when she finds someone fresher and you will lose her. For you not to run ur mouth too much for seeing her undies you might lose ur job also...

saaedlee: Straight to the point, my HoD retired and a new one was transferred from a south-south state to take his position earlier this month. The problem is new boss is a young girl of about 30 years and during our first meeting, we stared @ each other for almost 5 minutes straight without saying "hi" nor "hello"! During the first week we would steal glances when the other wasn't watching. My first field assignment under her command went smoothly that she put in a commendation for me and offered to buy me a drink to celebrate it, during the course of our drink she told me everything about her self and I fell in-love with her from that moment. Ever since, we cannot stay a day without seeing each other, apart from office hours, we have also coded it that no one in the office knows bout it; tho the service doesn't prohibit it!
Should I call it off or should I continue?
