cute me: You most certainly can. The only thing I would caution you about is to be honest about the purpose and reasons for your visit if asked by the immigration officer. Do not attempt to conceal the fact you have missed the graduation and you are now on a simple visit to your sister. |
Travel / Re: M.M. International Airport, Can't Nigeria Do Better? by VOR(m): 8:59pm On Jan 07, 2011 |
Right I have been doing a bit of research into this programme. It was filmed in Lagos during the era of Sanni Abacha, that would have been sometime in 1998 and screened by Channel 4 on British TV in 1999. So not as far back as I first claimed but certainly it is not a recent documentary. Do a google search if you don't believe me, in fact the documentary has previously been discussed on this board in another thread. |

Vicjustice, I think you are either being mischievous or you are simply ignorant. This video is at least 15 YEARS OLD It was first screened in the UK then. Having said that, without doubt the MMA is now in desperate need of a serious upgrade. It is no longer fit for purpose and totally inadequate for international flights. |

Travel / Re: Uk Boarder Clearance, It Was Hell! I Need Clarification! by VOR(m): 11:28pm On Nov 29, 2010 |
Busy_body: Generally true, but it would not ordinarily be used for a Nigerian visitor as they are visa nationals and so he would have had a visa prior to entry. That is why I said if indeed he was given a code 3 that is irregular. Code 3 could also be used on a tourist/visitor, say like an American who raises doubts in the mind of the Immigration officer but there is not enough eveidence to refuse entry outright. |
Travel / Re: Uk Boarder Clearance, It Was Hell! I Need Clarification! by VOR(m): 2:07pm On Nov 26, 2010 |
If you held a Nigerian passport then normally you would not be given a code 3. Your visa is your leave to enter and they should have just stamped it with an ordinary date stamp if it was your fist arrival on that visa. If not then they would stamp near it or on any other page. If indeed you are a visa national and were given a separate code 3 stamp then that is most irregular. |

Code 3? Firstly, what is your nationality or at least what passport did you travel with? |
Sports / Re: Beautiful Pictures Of Teslim Balogun Stadium by VOR(m): 12:48am On Sep 30, 2010 |
The stadium is nothing to write home about. We are too easily pleased as a people. To me the stadium looks like something built by the Chinese or Bulgarians from the 1970s. It is concrete, go look at most modern stadia they mainly have glass and steel facades. |
Travel / Re: Arik Air's New Rule On Nigerian Biometric E-passport Requirements To Travel To L by VOR(m): 1:34am On Sep 17, 2010 |
Ridiculous, and it will cause a lot of hardship and problems. A visa/residence permit doesn't become invalid just because the passport expires or otherwise is no longer valid. Nationals of the old Yugoslavia still had valid visas in old Yugoslav passports even when they adopted the passports of theirnew nations such as Serbia. |

Travel / Re: Nigeria High Commision In London by VOR(m): 11:01am On Feb 24, 2010 |
As for opening times, I think they open for applicants from around 09:30 but they stop seeing new arrivals from around 1:00pm. When I did mine in Janauary 2010 I got there about 11:30 and didn't leave till about 4:30pm. |
Travel / Re: Nigeria High Commision In London by VOR(m): 9:21pm On Feb 22, 2010 |
You are most unlikely to get your passport on the same day. It takes about 7-10 days to collect after the initial appointment. Also be prepared to spend about 4-6 hours during the initial appointment. |

No Wee, I hope you don't expect to get your passport on the same day. You will collect it at least 7-10 days after acceptance of your application. |

Politics / Re: Pictures From Jos Crises by VOR(m): 10:03pm On Jan 23, 2010 |
Admittedly I haven't read every post on this thread but it would appear the vast majority of posters are hostile to the Hausa/Muslim community in Jos without considering that in conflicts like this often both sides have some blame. It is not only Muslims who are doing the killing, indeed it would appear that muslims are bearing the brunt of the violence, and innocent people on both sides are suffering. Read the article below: Nigeria religious riot bodies found in village wells An exact death toll is not known but aid workers say it may be 300 More victims of deadly religious clashes in central Nigeria have been found, with scores of bodies stuffed in wells and sewage pits. Up to 150 bodies have been found in Kuru Karama village, 30km (18 miles) from the city of Jos, where the violence erupted last Sunday. Correspondents say elders hid in holes for seven hours to escape the violence. An exact death toll is not known but overall up to 300 are thought to have died in the Muslim-Christian clashes. Several thousand people fled their homes. The BBC's Caroline Duffield in Jos says many of the bodies found in Kuru Karama had massive burns, other victims were hacked to death or shot. She says there are still more bodies scattered in the bush beyond the village but the areas are not safe for volunteer workers to enter. Umar Baza, head of Kuru Karama village, told Agence France-Presse news agency: "So far we have picked 150 bodies from the wells. But 60 more people are still missing." The Human Rights Watch group said armed men had attacked the mostly Muslim Kuru Karama on 19 January. "After surrounding the town, they hunted down and attacked Muslim residents, some of whom had sought refuge in homes and a local mosque, killing many as they tried to flee and burning many others alive," it said in a statement. It quoted one villager as saying: "I came back on Wednesday evening escorted by the military. I saw dead bodies everywhere. The corpses were there, but now you can just see the blood on the ground. None of the houses are standing." The group called on Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan to order an immediate criminal investigation into reports of the massacre. Mr Jonathan deployed the military after four days of clashes. He has been issuing orders while President Umaru Yar'Adua receives medical treatment in Saudi Arabia. The security forces have now restored order and a curfew has been partially lifted. But correspondents say the atmosphere is still tense. Jos, the capital of Plateau state, lies at the point where Nigeria's Muslim north and predominantly Christian south meet. |
Politics / Re: Pictures From Jos Crises by VOR(m): 3:09pm On Jan 21, 2010 |
Why is it that during the several different crises in Jos over the last 10 years or so, nobody, not a single person to my knowledge has ever been charged and prosecuted for arson or murder? Given that thousands of people have been killed and buildings burnt, surely the police must have some idea as to who the perpetrators of this mayhem are. Maybe when people are punished for their crimes others will think twice before going on the rampage. |
