Why not simply expand MMA? Perhaps create another runway, expand the terminal building and include an integrated transport system for ferrying passengers from the airport to their final destinations. I'm sure this would be more cost effective. |
Poster, Chances are that you won't even be able to board the aircraft before it leaves London. No airline would risk carrying an inadequately documented passenger. The Nigerian authorities would be well within their rights to issue such an airline with a fine. In the UK airlines are fined £2,000 per passenger for carrying passengers without the correct visa etc. |
Chris With all due respect you do seem a tad too desparate. I think Funky has given you the best advice possible, you really have to get to know the girl better before making such a commitment. I can narrate any number of stories where relationships such as yours have hit the rocks as soon as the foreign spouse has got what she or he wants, ie permanent residence. Take things slowly. Good luck. |
Lycamobile is good for international. If you register the SIM online you are given an additional £2.00 credit and they always have deals on calls to Naija. |
Meanwhile Bellview has not flown into London for the past 4 days, are they still operating this route? |
Well serves them right I say. They entered Libya illegally, what did they expect? In any case do they have passports or other ID to show their identity and country of origin? If they don't, then how is Libya supposed to know whether or not they are truly Nigerian? If Libya sends them back with no papers Nigeria will have the right to send them straight back. |
My friend you won't even be able to leave the UK. No airline will carry you. |
Sorry Emuche, I just read your post again and realised your boyfriend is actually your fiance, in which case you may want to consider applying for a fiance visa instead. Broadly similar requirements but you will need to get married within six months of the issuance of the visa. Good luck whatever you decide. |
Emuche, I won't go into the pros and cons of a JR as opposed to returning to Nigeria. JJM has covered that more than adequately. However, going down the road of marriage just to get your boyfriend into the country does appear a bit drastic. If you were going to marry him regardless then fine, but that is not the impression I get. There is an alternative, that is the unmarried partners visa, these are the conditions you will be required to meet: You and your unmarried or same-sex partner must show that: any previous marriage, civil partnership or similar relationship, has permanently broken down you have been living together in a relationship similar to marriage or civil partnership for two years or more you have suitable accommodation which is owned or lived in only by you and your household, and where you and your dependants can live without any help from public funds you can support yourselves and any dependants without any help from public funds you intend to live together permanently your partner is not under 21, and you are not under 21. The Entry Clearance Officer will need to see evidence of a two-year relationship. This may include: documents showing joint commitments, such as bank accounts, investments, rent agreements or mortgages, and letters linking you to the same address, and official records (such as a gas or electricity bill or proof of your rent or mortgage arrangements) of your address At first, you will be allowed to stay and work in the UK for two years. Near the end of this time, if you are still partners and intend to continue living together, you can apply to stay permanently in the UK. Hope this helps. |
Sorry to have to tell you but yes that is what it means. He can only travel to the UK with the holders of the passports endorsed on his visa, i.e his grandparents. No airline will accept to take him without at least one of his grandparents travelling. If you are fortunate and the airline doesn't notice [highly unlikely] and you get to the UK the airline will be fined £2000. In addition it would be within the discretion of UKBA to refuse your son entry. |
At the end of the day if these deportees were legitimately in Spain they would not have been deported, unless of course they committed a criminal offence. Exactly what did they expect the Nigerian embassy to do for them? |
Vjay, Depending on how soon you wish to come to the UK I'd re-apply. Re-submit the statements [all of them] again with an explanatory letter from your b/f explaining the source of the funds. If however you are in no hurry, then by all means appeal. |
Vjay, A letter of complaint would get you nowhere. On the basis of the facts you have narrated the ECO would be fully justified in refusing your application. When you submitted your b/f statement did you also submit the other two statements and explain the source of the funds in the first statement? Furthermore, unless your aplication for a visit visa was for a family visit you have no right of appeal against the refusal. In summary, I would suggest that if you are still minded to visit the UK you re-apply and address all points raised by the ECO. Was this the only reason for refusal? Normally ECOs give at least 2/3 in order to strengthen the refusal. Finally, even if there was only one reason for refusal make sure you comply with all other requirements of a genuine visitor. These include, but are not limited to; sufficient funds, adequate accommodation, proof of significant ties to Nigeria, eg job confirmation, evidence of studies etc. Good luck. |
Darlsharl, There is nothing stopping you from re-applying whilst your appeal is pending. If you re-apply just ensure you address all points raised by the ECO. Do not assume anything, ECOs just do not have time to verify each and every document it is down to the applicant to ensure all necessary documents are submitted. Also unless your appeal is particularly complicated I would say employing a lawyer is a possible waste of money. Anyone with a decent level of education should be able to file and articulate a straightforward appeal. If you are successful with the re-application then obviously you can withdraw your appeal. Goodluck. |
One question, where are you intending to get married, in the UK or Nigeria? |
Missbandyleg-she sounds like a real Hot mama. ![]() |
Seems a very harsh decision, but to some degree I understand the decision. This is why; it is quite common to see pregnant women, not just from Nigeria, overstay their visit visa so they can give birth on the NHS. A lot of these women do not pay for the service but abscond once they have given birth. Also, in coming to their decision they would have been guided by the expert opinion of a doctor. If the doctor told them that you were 33-34wks rather than 26wks as you claimed then they would believe the doctor rather than you. Believe it or not the doctor is not an employee of the immigration service. As for your alleged treatment once the decision was made, I have no defence to this and it is inexcusable. Having said all this I still believe you have a good chance to have the decision overturned on appeal. Once you get a date for the appeal hearing make sure you have empirical evidence that at the time of your removal on 23/08/08 you were no more than 26 wks gone. The birth certificate of the subsequently born child should help in calculating how far gone you were at the time as well as your medical records while you were pregnant. Good luck, I'm sure you will get a hearing date soon. By the way have you ever visited Gambia? ![]() |

Arik is a good airline, I have never flown with them but my mum has and she is happy that she has a viable alternative to BA which she had hitherto flown with. The only thing that lets them down is that they fly into and out of Heathrow TN2. This is definitely the worst of all the Heathrow terminals in terms of facilities etc. This should change by the end of the year as I believe it will be closed down so Arik will have to move. |
I'd suggest nobody book a flight with Bell view to the UK. I have a feeling they have got some serious financial problems because they haven't flown to the UK for at least 10 days. Be warned. |
funkybaby:Hiya Funky, actually while Blackpool is not as popular as it once was as a tourist destination in the UK, it is still one of the main seaside resorts here. Still, it is a little odd why a first time visitor might want to visit here particularly. London would normally be the first choice and if it is the seaside the poster wants then there are several seaside resorts within 1-2 hours of London. |
I never hawked, but I did drive my dads taxi in Lagos without his knowledge on several occasions. It was fun really. ![]() |
Secretz:With regards to point two, I don't think it is quite that simple. When the kids are born what names do you give them? Also do you call an imam to name them after 7 days as is the muslim way or do you call a pastor? Or maybe even do both? ![]() Marrying outside your religion takes a lot of tolerance, forbearance and one or both parties has to compromise. I would say such a union could never work if both parties are quite into their respective religions. |

Even a common frontline staff at any Government e.g Jobcentre, Housing, etc, has every right to call your bank on the phone to request for details of your last transaction and the bank has to oblige immediately, heck they can even call your school, your GP, or anywhere you have a record for that matter, and you are here claiming UKBA has no right to call the DWP or HMRC to request for anyone's NI detail, i no fit shout
