Angel, Then the authorities in Ethiopia were most understanding to you. Perhaps you are really one hot babe. ![]() In most jurisdictions that would not happen especially if there is the option for you to obtain a transit visa prior to travel. |
Swifty, You can travel prior to the commencement of your course but not prior to the commencementof the start date of your EC. If you look at the EC closely there are two dates on it. One is the commencement date and the other is the expiry date. It is normally at the top of the EC around the right hand side. |
Swiftycool, All the best, which part of Scotland will you be studying? One piece of advice I will give you is not to travel to the UK PRIOR TO THE VALIDITY DATE OF YOUR VISA. |
deezzle:Well this would appear to confirm what I was saying. No visa, no entry. Qatar airways can't be blamed for that as they are not responsible for the immigration policy of Qatar. |
angel101:Angel, What you appear to forget is that if you miss your connecting flight, regardless of who is to blame, and you don't have a visa for the transit country where one is required. You ain't coming out of the airport and that has nothing to do with the airline but everything to do with the immigration authorities of the country through which you are passing. |
Razorr:What a pity that such a picture of beauty and elegance should be such a hata. ![]() |
Hi all, any Man Utd fans actually based in Manchester? I'm travelling up from London for the Inter-Milan game on 1/8/07 and need recommendation for a good but cheap and cheerful b&b for one night preferably within good travel distance of Old Trafford.I'm looking at a double room(£40-50). Alternatively, I don't mind crashing on a fellow reds sofa for the night.(FOC) ![]() |
Folanusi, If I were you I would write to BA customer services and complain. Don't let them get away with it. You will be surprised with the compensation they will offer you. On a BA flight from Tampa-London we were delayed on board the airplane at Tampa airport for three hours due to a faulty on board computer. I wrote and complained and they offered 50% reduction on any BA flight for 12 months. |
salsera:I did comment on your re-application. See my post number #646. In addition to that it would probably be a good idea to enclose a covering letter as you have suggested to address their doubts about the stamps and any other issues they may have raised in your previous refusal and which you think can't be addressed in the application form. I don't wish to impugn your integrity in any way, but are you being totally honest. By this I mean have you done anything like arranging backdated stamps with Nigerian immigration which gives the ECO cause to doubt the validity of such stamps? Also you do know it is illegal to work in the UK on a visit visa don't you? ![]() |
Ghana, always wanted to compare and contrast with Nigeria. |
onatisi:@Onatsi I don't think you should shelve your plans to fly Qatar Airways because of deezle's experience. The problem arose only because he missed his connecting flight. Chances are that is a rare occurence. And for peace of mind why not look into getting a Qatar transit(not airside) visa so if it does happen you will be able to leave the airport? |
Tats:@Tats Well said, this may be a way out. But remember in the refusal notice the ECO only referred to anomalies and inconsistencies without specifying what they were. So providing airline tickets or stubs may not be enough. She needs to know what the anomalies were and then address them specifically. |
mrpataki:@Mr Pataki With all due deference and respect to all the enlightening contributions you have made to this and other threads I don't see how she can successfully appeal now. If I am not wrong she was turned down for the visa late last year. She would have had 28 days from then to appeal. The deadline has long since passed. So unless she has very strong grounds to lodge a late appeal any such appeal will be opposed by the Presenting Officers Unit and in all likelihood the objection will be upheld by the judge. Her best bet really is to apply again and try to ensure all bases are covered in accordance with the rules. i.e a good sponsor in the uk, every reason to return to Nigeria e.g a solid job, strong finances, letter from employer. etc. I am unsure why the ECO took issue with her Nigerian entry stamps and if she is refused again for this reason it is something which may only be given consideration at appeal. |
Entry into Qatar may have nothing to do with the airline, the question is do Nigerians require visas to enter Qatar? If they do and you and the other Nigerians didn't have them then the Qatar immigration authorities are within their rights to refuse you entry. Although having said that you may have qualified for a twenty four hour transit visa, but in most cases the grant of such a visa is discretionary. |
@Salsera Since you obtained your your US visa have you actually visited the US and if so which route did you use? |
salsera:Sorry to hear that Salsera. I did kind of suspect this might be the case and that is why in my previous post I said: "if there is a valid appeal pending" Six months even by AIT standards is a long time without even an acknowledgement of receipt. I think you need to question your UK sponsors. When and how did they send the appeal? Meaning was it by registered post and have they kept the receipt of postage? If not then I am afraid it is now too late to appeal. You will then have to apply afresh and hope that this time you have a lot more luck. Let me know how you wish to proceed and I will try and assist with the application. |
Akolawole:Ako Yes, nothing stops anyone applying for a UK visa at anytime. However, one would be throwing away good money if you applied knowing that your chances of getting it are next to zilch. Salsera has not had much luck so far, so if she applied now, especially in light of the pending appeal, why would the outcome be any different? Especially if her personal circumstances have not changed radically for the better since the last application. I would bet my bottom dollar that if there is a valid appeal pending she would be told to await the outcome of the appeal first. |
salsera:That is quite possibly the reason, but rather than sit and speculate there is no harm in giving them a ring and letting them tell you that is the reason for the delay. I would also ask them at the same time whether they can give you an indication as to when it will be heard. |
Salsera, What efforts have you made to obtain feedback regarding your appeal from the AIT? In my opinion it is highly unlikely you will be granted a visit visa whilst there is a pending appeal against the refusal of such a visa. You really need to resolve the status of your appeal first. |
Shobaby I was particularly happy to hear of your success, given that I thought the decision to refuse you was non sustainable in the first place. Thanks for letting us know what benefits this forum does bring to all. |
liliana:Liliana As I am no longer a student I am not sure what entails with regards to fees etc. I'm sure if you use one of the search engines freely available you will be able to get an answer to your question. Alternatively why not pose the question on the nairaland education forum. Good luck. |
funkybaby:Funky You may well be right. But I have not offered an opinion on this aspect of her question because it is not really immigration related and I don't know the answer. |
Liliana, I was just joking with you. But on a serious note there are a lot of degree holders in the UK and a lot of them work in jobs which they may consider not to be commensurate with their educational attainment. That is the way of the labour market. Do not expect to walk into a job on the basis that you have a first or even second degree. In general It doesn't work like that here. Employers are more interested in what you can do and what life skills and work experience you have rather than how many paper qualifications you possess. My son is fine thank you. Have you met him? Or how do you know of him? Anyway good luck. Let me know when you are travelling so I can arrange a reception committee befitting your status. ![]() |
No problem with that but let the private sector pay for it. Govt. other then creating a conducive atmosphere for such projects shouldn't get involved. It should concentrate on providing basic facilities like schools, health care, roads and infrastructure for all citizens. Not just an elite few. |
Good to see our govts have their priorities in order. First a glorified shopping centre, then a holiday resort and now a golf course. For whose benefit are all these govt projects? |
liliana:Can you tell me exactly what your status is and what type of job befits this status. I must warn you however that there are very few CEO positions in the UK for a 24 year old, black, female ex youth corper. ![]() |
I too am a pussy lover but I have never owned a cat. ![]() |
Tats:Unless you allege it no judge will consider it. |
Tats:Well it never did guseman any harm. ![]() |

? I volunteered to help because they had already started getting violent.
