anusule:Anu Yum yum, but I prefer apple crumble with custard. |
Mr Popular I have previously answered questions here on the implications of submitting company accounts in support of an application for a visa. Essentially the ECO regards a company as a separate legal entity from your sponsor and a company resolution is required which confirms the directors are willing to use company funds to pay for your education. Please trawl through this thread for a more detailed response. Sorry I don't have the time or inclination to go through 20 odd pages right now. |
One factor you should all be aware of is that certain countries are visa mandatory for the UK. e.g Nigeria, whilst other countries like South Africa do not require visas to come to the UK for a visit. To some extent Immigration Officers treat those with visas differently. Those with visas are at an advantage as the assumption is that all the checks necessary have already been done by the ECO. Those without visas are often (not always) scrutinised more intently. I'm sure the majority of students here granted UK student visas were hardly asked any questions by immigration on arrival. That is because all necessary checks would already have been done. |
Mrpopular:The ECO is under no obligation to contact your school, sponsors or any other third party. The ECO can in certain circumstances use his discretion to do this but he/she doesn't have to. The obligation is always on the applicant to provide satisfactory evidence. |
I feel your pain. How old are your kids? Is it not possible for you to travel with him on the odd occasion? For example his two weeks in Dallas could have been a family holiday if it didn't interfere with your work or the childrens schooling. |
You can re-apply at any time. The six month thing is just a myth. However, there is no point in re-applying unless you can address the reasons for the first refusal to the satisfaction of the High Commission. |
chichimma:Really cannot see the point you are making here. If they didn't have papers then they are in the country illegally and that is breaking the law, so they deserve to be sent home. ![]() |
@sko I need your assistance too. How much will you charge for someone like me to regularise my illegal status in the UK? |
DEEBOY29:You appear to have given theHigh Commission the perfect excuse to refuse you. Exactly how do you intend to attend school in Scotland if you live in London. Duh ![]() |
@Salsera Are you in the UK? |
Ako I found out you are a Chelsea fan. Na true? Believe I know go foot ya bill. You better approach Abramorich for a loan. .If you guys do decide on somewhere for Sunday let me know. I think your e-mail addie is here somewhere so I will e-mail you for the details. |
Funky,Mr P and Ako I would suggest that if you guys want to meet on Sunday go ahead and do so I really can't promise I would be able to make it regardless of where it is. Although if you do finalise arrangements for this day do keep me in the know just in case I find a way. September would be better for me though I appreciate Mr P would have returned by then. So Funky who do you support?I hope say na Man U. I was at the inter game at Old Trafford earlier this month. It is near impossible to get tickets for most premiership games unless you are a club member of some sort. If you want to see a live game and aren't too fussy a lower league team would be easier. For example I often watch my local club Crystal Palace. Though there ground is no theatre of dreams, more like a den of nightmares, it makes an interesting afternoon out. |
Funky Sorry for not replying to this thread previously. I assumed there was nothing to read on it when I first saw the heading which is just a dot. As for a meeting which you and Ako are trying to organise that Will be difficult for me until later in September. Precisely after the schools return. I am looking after my pickin and never no where I am from day to day. If you are still around in September no problem, especially if you are in Mitcham which is not a million miles away from me. Maybe if the others are agreeable Croydon shopping centre would be ideal. Anyway keep me informed. Sorry about your travails with Vicjustice. You both contribute immensely to the site and it is a pity things have degenerated between the two of you. Can you both perhaps find a way of resolving things between you and then put the past to bed? |
10 years ago I won a substantial amount on the UK lottery. ![]() |

funkybaby:I'm in London, Croydon to be precise. |
funkybaby:Hi Funky I'm very much around. I just got a bit bored with advising people here. A lot of the questions have already been dealt with and if the newcomers took the time to read most of the immigration threads on the travel section they will realise this. How are you? Still in the UK? If so which part? |
fawwyb:Why you just de parrot the ting wey I don talk already? ![]() |
Vicjustice, As his wife to be is English and they propose to settle in the UK. He CANNOT apply as an EU family member. He would only be able to apply for this status if his wife was to settle or exercise her treaty rights in another EU state. Previous adverse immigration history, especially of the non-serious kind is not necessarily a bar to the grant of a visa. Every case is treated on its merits and I have certainly seen people being granted settlement visas despite their questionable immigration history. |
I can categorically state that Nigerians DO need a visa to visit South Africa regardless of the purpose. I doubt very much this will change with the introduction of the new bio-metric passport. |
Because a country is visa free does not necessarily mean every national of that country will automatically be granted entry. One can still be refused at the port of entry. |
mizztee:You have admitted yourself he is not your uncle. So there are no documents you can submit to prove what is not a fact. |
mdsocks:True, only to a limited extent. The bobo never hear of proof reading? BTW I thought this thread was a classic and that it had long disappeared into cyber space. ![]() |
D-BLOCK Correct me if I am wrong but is that first picture in your latest collection Broad St and specifically the place in the fore-ground the site of the former MBHS? |
Brownbaby, Sorry to hear of your woes. It would appear that you have been well and truly scammed by this "lawyer". Are you sure in the first place that he is a lawyer? In order to give Immigration advice in the UK he/she must either be registered with the Law Society or if not a qualified lawyer the person has to be registerd with the OISC. If you wish me to do checks on this I will do so in private. Turning to your application and appeal. From the information you have providedthe reasons for refusing you were so weak that I would have expected you to win hands down at appeal. As Funkymama said did this "lawyer" provide you a copy of: 1) your grounds of appeal and 2) a copy of the final determination(i.e decision by the immigration Judge)? Normally I do not give advice here on a one to one basis and that is why my e-mail address is hidden, but I feel particularly sorry for you and if you wish me to use my experience to see if there is a way forward for you let me know and I'll see what can be done. Oh and by the way unlike your "lawyer" there is no charge. ![]() |
I believe that is the stadium in Suru-lere finally completed after god knows how many years. It is good for the Lagos State govt. to have this facility, hopefully it will be mantained. The only pity is that it took so long to build. I don't suppose any changes were made to the original blueprint because frankly it looks like a stadium built by the Chinese or Bulgarians from the 1970s. |
salsera:Salsera Apologies if you were offended by what I said. Hope you understand it is nothing personal but I do not know you so I have to look at things from all angles. The angle I was looking at and why I asked you the question is that the ECO must have had some reason to disbelieve the endorsements in your passport. However, if you are saying they are all valid then I guess the ECO is mistaken. With regards to working in the UK. It was just a bit of joshing on my part, although I do seem to remember you stating somewhere that you had a job in the UK babysitting or something like that. So you do, as we say here, have form for illegal working. ![]() |
I say thanks to the original poster for posting the pics. We need a balanced view of what Lagos and indeed Nigeria are really like. The pics of Abuja and the skyscrapers in Lagos contained on other threads here on the travel section do not represent what the majority of people in Nigeria are going through daily and they are a gross distortion of the reality. We are too easily pleased as a people because we do not have standards. A couple of skyscrapers here, a roundabout with nice flowers there, a governor uses state funds to build a glorified shopping centre and holiday resort and we begin to think we are living in paradise. Nonsense ![]() |
swiftycool:Exactly, you could if you had so wanted travelled anytime from 17/07/07. Not to worry, you are still leaving in plenty of time for your course. Good luck |

its been ages since you were last here. trust you are okay.
