This is a rant that has no basis in reality. I don't know how a performing governor who is busy making life better for his people is supposed to leave his state affairs and be challenging the President publicly on federal matters. Is that why the residents voted him in? And who told you that he did not express his reservations privately to Goodluck Even when you were growing up how many times did you challenge your dad openly when he did wrong? Peter Obi remains one of the greatest governors in the history of Nigeria but he is not Superman. He tried his best. No governor in the last 30 years can challenge his prudency and judicious utilization of public funds. Let's appreciate that at least. ayenitre: |
Your point is very valid for someone who has not held govt office. Seems you forgot he was a governor for 8 yrs though! So this point is for others, not him ebby9z: |
Unfortunately for you Emir Sanusi knows otherwise as he stated in his intriguing speech “Nigeria In Search Of New Growth model” which he gave in August 2016. Here is an excerpt below: When I was governor of Central Bank, the economy was growing at 37%. The oil sector was not adding anything to GDP growth. The growth was coming from agriculture, services and trade, which is also very revealing. If we are now saying we are in a recession, because of the collapse in oil price, we are not being sincere. You can’t be in recession, because a sector that is 15% of your GDP has declined. What happened to agriculture, trade, services and health? The speech is loaded and I recommend you read and assimilate it instead of allowing propaganda control your thought processes. As long as people are still singing a song told them by APC propagandists, there is little hope. It takes a lot to go researching for the truth in the midst of loud cacophony of lies. But unless you are BMC or a Zombie you will study for yourself and make up your own mind. obailala: |

Buhari said he has a certificate. Its just that nobody has ever seen it. Lollz dragonking2: |
Its likely you were still in primary school or at most secondary school when MKO died. He had already been taken out of his jail cell and US and British diplomats were persuading him to drop his mandate and he refused for the last time. If not that he drank poisoned tea he may have still been alive. Comparing that with Kanu getting out on bail is like comparing apples and oranges. We are supposed to be in a democracy now and Kanu has a right to bail. A right guaranteed by our constitution. MKO was held by a military regime. There is a difference if you don't know. Also its embarrassing that you claim that Awolowo defeated Biafra with intellectualism. Your ignorance may be contagious so let me release a vaccine for others. Awolowo advised the Fed Govt to starve millions of fellow Nigerians once it became clear that the military option was dragging with no end in sight. He was right as that caused Biafra to surrender but I don't call that intellectualism. I call it barbarism. It was against all international laws guiding warfare. It was a very dishonourable thing to do. The Fed govt would have won the war eventually but to starve women and children to death to speed that up is barbaric and if it happened today he would have gone down for War Crimes along with Gowon Nairaland is filled with people who lived through our historic events while some of you were told by your elders who did not give you the full picture. Any event that happened before my time I study different accounts before I discuss instead of just giving beer parlour jist davodyguy: |
Why is it so difficult for people to read a post before they comment? Is there a prize for rushing to comment? Some people are whining about how Adeniyi's book is giving contrasting views about how Osinbajo was picked not knowing the Mod himself didn't read the post and rushed to paste a false headline! The post clearly states that the source of this different account of Osinbajo's emergence is from a source close to Thisday a day ago and NOT Adeniyi's book. Which way Nigeria? |
Are you speaking as a Rivers man or a resident of Rivers state? I know you are neither because you spelt his name Amechi and its only illiterates who cannot spell the name of the governor of the state where they reside or are from. So since you are likely neither why speak on a matter you are not versed on? FriendNG: |
Face to Face? And since you were there pls tell us what was the date this happened? Also tell us who else was there apart from Buhari, Obama and yourself? Don't forget to add what Obama replied to Buhari's statement? gberra: |
After starting with you "don't like one sided stories" you dragged on with advice based on your crystal ball. If I said anything contrary to what you said why did you not point it out. That was what I was expecting. Unlike you, I don't advise people who have not presented at least 90% of the facts. Nor do I assume to know what a person I have never met nor studied would do. As i said previously, whether she is cheating or not cannot be deduced from the original post GodnGold: |
So from the confines of your bedroom you divined that his wife is not cheating. Wonders! A person you don't know and have not even seen her psychological profile but based on a few lines that the traumatised husband wrote. Hmm. Perhaps if he said he caught her in the act you would have said she was charmed. Aside from the fact that you share the same gender, you have no reason to tell him that his wife is NOT cheating. Even if she isn't, you don't have enough data to make such conclusion. Not every woman is as versed as you in psychological warfare. GodnGold: |
You appear very certain. Pls tell us the basis of this certainty. ivandragon: |

Amaechi never contested Governorship election so from where did you get your delusion that he won the mandate of the people? yanjutomi: |
Another one who cannot read and comprehend. God deliver us from Spiritual Zombies. Perhaps you can show me where I said we should stop soul winning. Religion hates anything intellectual. You just confirmed everything I posted previously is correct. Let me give you homework although I know you won't even be able to attempt it. Post 5 scriptures where Jesus SPECIFICALLY asked us to win souls since you claim he did so. Pls do this homework and post your results here. It is your Pastor that told you that Jesus said we should win souls and then you think that by focusing all your energies on sharing flyers on the roadside (instead of improving yourself so that you can minister to the material needs within your environment) that souls will be won. A person who is unemployed for 3 yrs is trying to win the soul of a person who has been unemployed for 2 yrs. Being an average Christian you did not even bother to search the scriptures to confirm like the Bereans. FYI Jesus came to Preach The Kingdom of God (which encompasses the economy you mentioned He didn't preach of, despite the fact that Jesus talked about and did so much to show He controls the Economy of those in the Kingdom). That is what he John The Baptist preached. That is what Jesus preached and that is what Apostle Paul preached. Anybody that preaches the Kingdom of God will discover that people will desire to be a part of it and therefore surrender their heart to him. All the leaders you have caught in let's go a fishing why haven't they stopped stealing Nigeria's money? EW Kenyon who was a Pastor and is considered one of the greatest Christian authors said: "Make your brain work. It will sweat, but make it work. It will improve. It will develop until you become a wonder to those around you." in his little masterpiece Signposts on The Road to Success. It was written in 1938 but something tells me you have not read it. Its available free online to download itsmeurLady: |
Religion is a terrible thing. It has blinded the minds of most Christians in Africa. They actually believe that sheepishly following a set of rules and codes and sticking with groupthink is what Jesus came for. How Sad. There are 200 times more Pharisees and Sadducees in African Churches now than there are people who are connected to the Spirit Of God. OP did not say we should close churches. But that is what many people are responding to. OP did not say Churches should do govt work of providing infrastructure etc. But that's what many people are responding to. The ability to read and comprehend spiritual issues has altogether been lost to many Christians because of a religious mindset. Once a matter "appears" to be a critique of Christianity many peoples brain goes into red alert and shuts down. What the OP is saying is that churches should be at the forefront of inspiring their members to make a positive difference within their communities and sphere of influence. That will have a greater impact on Nigeria than focusing solely on street evangelism (which is now more about poaching members of other churches, than converting unbelievers). How people can read the OP and not get that is beyond me. Like I said, Christians were at the forefront of scientific progress immediately after the spiritual awakening brought about by the Reformation of Martin Luther. Most of the basic discoveries in Physics and Chemistry and Engineering that is the foundation of the life we enjoy today emanated from said Reformation. Today you can hardly find Born Again Christians in The West excelling in the above fields as thinking has been rejected by the churches for at least 90yrs. God Deliver The Black Race |
So you have blatantly ignored the crux of the matter. What a shame! Many people are unaware that the industrial revolution rode on the back of a spiritual revolution in Europe. Many of the great inventors and scientists back then were Christians. Its the opposite today. No great thinkers are found in the church again because of people like you who dodge the responsibility that Christ gave to give light to the world because Evangelism is the only way you feel you can impact the world. Shame! Joagbaje: |
Rather untrue. I have been using torrents for over 10 yrs. Downloaded more than 8TB in that time. Never got a single virus. Once. Or perhaps I'm just lucky. geekybabe: |
Tyrant has been cancelled. Can't say I'm surprised. I liked the show but the publicity was too poor and most Americans can't relate well with it. temi4fash: |
No, we ALL can't see that as some of us passed reading comprehension in school. “Chidoka had co-opted Adoke and Dudafa to make the plea after a conversation he had with Jonathan the previous day. The President had acknowledged that the results were going against him and that he was going to concede. sarrki: |
If you still think that Buhari is in a state to be endorsing serious matters and yet he can't even attend a single wednesday meeting for three weeks.... ..then you are on a long thing. Buhari is in bad shape. Whatever anyone tells him now he will just be nodding his head. mapet: |
I admire people that ask questions when they see things that require such. My guess is that Osinbajo and those at the top are working from a premise that Buhari is going to remain incapacitated for the nearest future. This enables them some leeway to act with an eye to a Post Buhari world. I watched Buhari over a year ago tell Amanpour or someone that Nnamdi Kanu will not be released even though he has been granted bail. I was stunned that a President would make such a statement but I later recovered as I remembered that Buhari is a Fulani and most of them are very vindictive. This suggests that Buhari is not behind the loosening of Kanu's bonds Esseite: |
You have spoken well. Now who did you vote for(or support) in 2015 and tell us the previous achievements of the person?? olujastro: |
I was shocked at your question but I quickly realised that you were asking in good faith. Here is the answer: David Cameron launched a referendum on whether the UK should leave the EU. One of his reasons for doing that was because some fellows in parliament were challenging him and they were all for leaving the EU so he felt that when the people voted Stay that those backbenchers would be disgraced and he would be back in control again. To the surprise of the whole world, the people voted Leave and since he had fought for so long that UK should Stay that also means that he had been put to shame so he resigned. So basically he set in motion the weapon of his own downfall. I have tried to simplify things but that is the crux of it. So he that planned against Goodluck was himself pushed out. Almost the same thing for Obama too who supported Hillary because she was basically his third term as she had no major policies outside of his own. Her loss broke the record books and confused the entire democratic party. So once again we see someone who worked for the defeat of Goodluck and yet was also shamefully defeated And Karma struck yet again as France's Hollande has entered the record books as the most unpopular President of France in living memory. The party man he backed to replace him (since he knew he himself could not win) was disgraced at the polls. bluecircle470: |
That's human nature. APC followers have blamed everyone but Santa Claus for their inability to move our economy forward. Even if i ask those close to you they will say you hold others responsible for your own shortcomings. So what else is new? dvee2: |
You need to up your game. Matters of governance and power are not subject to divination via newspaper headlines. In fact anyone who fully depends on newspapers for the source of what is really happening in an opaque government as we have always had in Nyja knows nothing as Ygritte told Jon Snow. Stella Oduah was the fourth most powerful woman in Nigeria and as such would never have wilfully resigned her post to go do campaign when she had earlier spent hundreds of millions campaigning for Goodluck to win the first election while running her oil and gas firm. Stella decided to run for senator only after being bounced by Goodluck. In the game of power there is such a thing as a soft landing which you give to people who have messed up but you must not be seen to be throwing them to the wolves as other loyalists are watching. Her name was packaged along with those who were leaving for state politics so that she would not be put to shame. But one should be able to read between the lines Now if you know anybody who was in govt then in Abuja go ahead and ask them whether she wilfully resigned. Their answer will educate you. Your ignorance of matters that permeated the public domain shouldn't be made public like this. Obama came to Africa and went next door to small Ghana skipping Nigeria and you say Obama supported Goodluck. That's the least of the ways he showed his disdain for the man but I can't be bothered to type others. These were current affairs matters then but history now. I pray you're more abreast with current affairs now so that you will do better in future bantudra: |
I completely agree with every point you made now I'm interested in hearing your evaluation of Buhari and his govt. DTaj: |
He voted himself in in '83 and the economy crashed. You were probably not born then otherwise you would have remembered. BlackAfrican: |
At your age you should be able to apply some level of critical thinking before you post but unfortunately you had to expose yourself that such is alien to you. The picture shows a man and a woman who are both wearing wedding rings praying by a vehicle in the church compound. The first thought that would come to a sane mind is that a husband and wife are praying or giving thanks for a car. Yet you ignore that because of a fake news headline by a hungry blogger which was pushed to the front page by a mod who isnt very smart. I yearn for the good old days of Naira land when most posts contained some elements of intelligence and also had much value to offer. You completely ignored the man kneeling down next to his wife and began to rant about matters that are beyond you. No doubt otobo knows that your type are the majority out there so she is busy deceiving you with cheap falsehoods. Nwodosis: |
