all4naija: I don't need to argue with you but this is the basic rule of asking questions in English Language:
The basic rule for asking questions in English is straightforward: Invert the order of the subject and the first auxiliary verb
example: The car is moving? (wrong). Is the car moving?(right)
Where in your connotation does anything suggest age a person has lived in comparison to the other person? It only points to five years as regarding elder person more or less the five years as something to rank him with as older. Using Senior in 'more than' is not acceptable.
It is more of a rank than age. Seriously you are taking it on a wrong context. English language has a convention or rather rules which most be followed concerning grammar! I think you need to check it very well to uderstand why I said senior is about rank not age - in this context. Na me you dey cite basic rules against? (jk) The basic rule you stated is exactly that, basic! Basic rules are for those learning the language. Is this the site you got the stuff you wrote from? http://www.englishgrammarsecrets.com/questions1/menu.phpOn a serious note, have you heard about "tag questions"? Here’s what wiki had to say about tag questions. A question tag or tag question is a grammatical structure in which a declarative statement or an imperative is turned into a question by adding an interrogative fragment (the "tag" . For example, in the sentence "You're John, aren't you?", the statement "You're John" is turned into a question by the tag "aren't you". The term "question tag" is generally preferred by British grammarians, while their American counterparts prefer "tag question". Example: You jumped the gun on what I posted earlier, didn't you? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tag_questionI honestly don't understand all the stuff you wrote about context vs senior. What I said earlier is very clear and just so we don't lose sight of it, I'll post it again: Since the question implies that the person asking the question thinks the listener is older, here's one of the more accurate translations:
You are how many years my senior? If I were talking to someone on the street, why would the person think of rank? |

Billyonaire: Nigeria has no biometric database, so there is no way any information about their reports can ever be factual. Besides, t[b]here is no way anyone will sit in New York and know whats happening in Nigeria.[/b] The information re-engineering strategy of the West to instigate citizens against their governments crumbles at the inception of internet and social networking cos we are now aware of what happens worldwide. How sincere can they be, when their media can not even air the Occupy Wall Street and now the Secession is not aired for the world to see how porous they really are. Now the hunter is being hunted by her own citizens. The rise of China and the censorship of Western indoctrination will dwarf their intentions against China and I hope Nigeria my country too. They say its not safe here, but Chinese say we are okay, now the west is scrambling for our suya. Do you know how many international NGOs are in Nigeria? Here's a link: http://www.unodc.org/ngo/list.jspFor example, I read on this very same NL that people are getting HIV drugs for free at some government hospitals and/or clinics. Where did the drugs come from? Did the Nigerian government buy the drugs or was it given to the clinics for free? Also, while at it, touch on the eradication of polio and malaria. These NGOs and companies like them are at the very front line and can come up with numbers that the Nigerian government can't dispute. For example, will you agree if the NGO giving out the HIV medicine come up with a figure about HIV prevalence? |
Politics › Re: Reports From International Organizations About Nigeria: How Factual? by Wallie(m): 9:13pm On Nov 15, 2012 |
Idokojimmy: Globalization has made international politics interesting, especially with the adoption of Darwinian theory which emphasizes survival of the fittest. The interdependence of nations, has made countries to have friendly and hostile ally, even though there appears to be no permanent friends in international arena. Friendly allies are those that will be readily available to offer assistance in times of trouble, hostile ones will stop at nothing untill they frustrate your policies, programmes, diplomatic relation, international image, and in most cases they work towards disintegrating that country. These hostile nations use foreign media, international NGO, and other machinery to further their agenda. It will be recalled that the USA once predicted that Nigeria will disintegrate come 2015. As a follow up to this prediction, they have carried out propaganda about our dear country, writing fake reports using internationalal Organisations, questioned our policies, fault our programs, frustrated our economy, and will stop at nothing to see that their prediction becomes a reality. I will not pretend that Nigeria is a better place, but all well meaning nigerians must express optimism. That it isn't good now doesn't mean we will remain perpetually backward. Most of these reports are exaggerated to suit their plan. For instance, how do they collect data for these reports? How many Nigerians do they contact to get data from? Do they interview our parents in the village, or visit the hinterland where common men live? Obviously they don't. They come with preconceived idea, run around in Abuja, recruit disgruntled persons that will serve their interest, use and dump them. The product is: Nigeria is worst, don't go there, and the likes. Their reports are biased, preconceived, totally false and ultimately against our unity.
What do we owe our nation? Follow them condemn Nigeria, and allow their prediction come to pass or work to correct perceived challenges? You made some very interesting points but you lost along the line. 1. Why would the west as a whole want to see Nigeria fail? With the instability in the Middle East, why would the US in particular want to see a sizable source of their oil become unreliable? Do you know how the markets and economy works? The market is based off speculation and any type of oil price instability sends the stock market into panic. 2. Will Nigerians expressing optimism improve the reality on the ground or will it make the very real problems go away? 3. Are you saying one has to count villagers to come up with an accurate figure? A little knowledge about statistics will change your view. I'm not naive enough to say some agencies are not biased against self interest. Some are probably exaggerating problems or numbers to justify their existence or to pad their pockets. Do you think most of those NGO workers work for free and even if they work for free, they still need to raise money for the supplies and resources they need! Also, will it surprise you that companies selling weapons will generally not want peace to reign? But can Nigerian officials or NGOs provide a more accurate data for anything? You question their data but on what basis? A hunch? Are we talking about the same Nigerian government that can’t come up with accurate census figures? How difficult can it be to count living souls within an area? I can almost guarantee that companies like MTN, Glo etc do have a better macro picture of Nigeria than the Nigerian government! I'm talking about having actual data to back up any position they take. Something always ends up filling a void! If we can’t define ourselves, someone with or without an agenda will do it for us. |

Noooooo!!!! The commander-in-chief supporter/originator of the recent movement is not supporting the secession? Nooooo!!! Texans better come get the needed moral support from Nigerians on NL! Rick Perry doesn't support secession petition on White House website Posted by CNN's Kevin Liptak
(CNN) – An appeal calling on the federal government to allow Texas to "withdraw from the United States of America" following President Barack Obama's re-election doesn't have the support of the Lone Star State's governor, his office said in a statement Tuesday.
"Gov. [Rick] Perry believes in the greatness of our Union and nothing should be done to change it," his press secretary Catherine Frazier wrote in a statement. "But he also shares the frustrations many Americans have with our federal government."
– Follow the Ticker on Twitter: @PoliticalTicker
The petition, which had received nearly 65,000 signatures by mid-morning Tuesday, cites continuing "economic difficulties stemming from the federal government's neglect to reform domestic and foreign spending" as the reason for the proposed secession.
"Given that the state of Texas maintains a balanced budget and is the 15th largest economy in the world, it is practically feasible for Texas to withdraw from the union, and to do so would protect it's citizens' standard of living and re-secure their rights and liberties in accordance with the original ideas and beliefs of our founding fathers which are no longer being reflected by the federal government," asserts the petition, which appears on a section of the White House website called "We the People: Your Voice in our Government."
The section was designed to allow citizens to voice their concerns and desires for the federal government, and stipulates that if a petition gets enough support, "White House staff will review it, ensure it's sent to the appropriate policy experts, and issue an official response."
The threshold for eliciting a White House response is 25,000 signatures within 30 days, meaning the Texas secession appeal has surpassed the requirements for official administration comment. None has yet been forthcoming.
The fine print notes the White House "may decline to address certain procurement, law enforcement, adjudicatory, or similar matters properly within the jurisdiction of federal departments or agencies, federal courts, or state and local government in its response to a petition."
A host of other states have similar petitions on the "We the People" section of the White House website, including South Dakota, West Virginia, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Alaska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Utah, Wyoming, California, Ohio, New York, Delaware, Nevada and Arizona.
None of those petitions were close to the 25,000-signature requirement for a White House comment.
Other petitions on the website take the opposite tack: an appeal to "strip the citizenship from everyone who signed a petition to secede and exile them" had just over 1,000 signatures on Tuesday.
While Perry's statement Tuesday pushed back against a possible move to secede, the Lone Star governor has expressed support for such a shift in the past.
Speaking to an energetic and angry tea party crowd in Austin in 2009, Perry suggested secession may happen in the future should the federal government not change its fiscal polices.
"There's a lot of different scenarios," Perry said. "We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot."
During his run for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination, Perry clarified that he never used the word "secession."
Texas, America's second biggest state in area and population, was its own nation for 10 years before joining the United States in 1845.
In the statement from Perry's office Tuesday, Texas is held an example for the rest of the nation for its fiscal responsibility.
"Now more than ever our country needs strong leadership from states like Texas, that are making tough decisions to live within their means, keep taxes low and provide opportunities to job creators so their citizens can provide for their families and prosper," the statement read. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/11/13/rick-perry-doesnt-support-secession-petition-on-white-house-website/?hpt=hp_t3 |

Can't answer your questions directly but hopefully the article below helps. What Is MRSA?
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a bacterium that causes infections in different parts of the body. It's tougher to treat than most strains of staphylococcus aureus -- or staph -- because it's resistant to some commonly used antibiotics.
The symptoms of MRSA depend on where you're infected. Most often, it causes mild infections on the skin, like sores or boils. But it can also cause more serious skin infections or infect surgical wounds, the bloodstream, the lungs, or the urinary tract.
Though most MRSA infections aren't serious, some can be life-threatening. Many public health experts are alarmed by the spread of tough strains of MRSA. Because it's hard to treat, MRSA is sometimes called a "super bug."
What Causes MRSA?
Garden-variety staph are common bacteria that can live in our bodies. Plenty of healthy people carry staph without being infected by it. In fact, 25%-30% of us have staph bacteria in our noses.
But staph can be a problem if it manages to get into the body, often through a cut. Once there, it can cause an infection. Staph is one of the most common causes of skin infections in the U.S. Usually, these are minor and don't need special treatment. Less often, staph can cause serious problems like infected wounds or pneumonia.
Staph can usually be treated with antibiotics. But over the decades, some strains of staph -- like MRSA -- have become resistant to antibiotics that once destroyed it. MRSA was first discovered in 1961. It's now resistant to methicillin, amoxicillin, penicillin, oxacillin, and many other antibiotics.
While some antibiotics still work, MRSA is constantly adapting. Researchers developing new antibiotics are having a tough time keeping up.
Who Gets MRSA?
MRSA is spread by contact. So, you could get MRSA by touching another person who has it on the skin. Or you could get it by touching objects that have the bacteria on them. MRSA is carried by about 1% of the population, although most of them aren't infected.
MRSA infections are common among people who have weak immune systems and are in hospitals, nursing homes, and other heath care centers. Infections can appear around surgical wounds or invasive devices, like catheters or implanted feeding tubes. Rates of infection in hospitals, especially intensive care units, are rising throughout the world. In U.S. hospitals, MRSA causes more than 60% of staph infections. http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/understanding-mrsa-methicillin-resistant-staphylococcus-aureus |

Can Texas leave the Union? NO. Texas Annexation
Questions and Answers
Q: Did the terms of Texas's admission to the Union include permission to withdraw if it found statehood not to its liking?
It is said of Texas (and, occasionally, Vermont) that it received a letter or document of permission to withdraw from the Federal Union if it so chose. In the case of Texas, this permission is sometimes said to have been granted at the time of Texas's admission as a state. Other times it is said to have been included in the terms readmitting Texas to the Union after the Civil War.
In fact, Texas received no special terms in its admission to the Union. Once Texas had agreed to join the Union, she never had the legal option of leaving, either before or after the Civil War.
The early years of the United States had seen a great deal of debate over whether states could, in fact, legally withdraw from the Union. During the War of 1812 it was New England that wanted to secede from the rest of the country. Later, it was the Southern states. Secessionists argued that states were sovereign and had the right to withdraw from the Union. Opponents countered that the Constitution created a sovereign union that, once entered into, could never be broken. Eventually, the question was put to the test and settled permanently on the battlefields of the Civil War.
The Presidential Proclamation declaring peace between the United States and Texas after the Civil War, dated August 20, 1866, states very clearly in the following passage that no state had the right to leave the Union (emphasis added in all capitals):
And whereas,
the President of the United States, by further proclamation issued on the second day of April, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six, did promulgate and declare, that there no longer existed any armed resistance of misguided citizens, or others, to the authority of the United States in any, or in all the States before mentioned, excepting only the State of Texas, and did further promulgate and declare that the laws could be sustained and enforced in the several States before mentioned, except Texas, by the proper civil authorities, State, or Federal, and that the people of the said States, except Texas, are well and loyally disposed, and have conformed or will conform in their legislation to the condition of affairs growing out of the amendment to the Constitution of the United States, prohibiting slavery within the limits and jurisdiction of the United States;
And did further declare in the same proclamation THAT IT IS THE MANIFEST DETERMINATION OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE THAT NO STATE, OF ITS OWN WILL, HAS A RIGHT OR POWER TO GO OUT OF OR SEPARATE ITSELF FROM, OR BE SEPARATED FROM THE AMERICAN UNION; and that, therefore, each State ought to remain and constitute an integral part of the United States;
On March 30, 1870, Congress passed the Act to admit the State of Texas to Representation in the Congress of the United States. Likewise, this act contains no language that would allow Texas to unilaterally withdraw from the United States. https://www.tsl.state.tx.us/exhibits/annexation/part5/question11.html |

And the plot thickens... Peacefully grant the city of Austin Texas to withdraw from the state of Texas & remain part of the United States.
Austin Texas continues to suffer difficulties stemming from the lack of civil, religious, and political freedoms imposed upon the city by less liberally minded Texans. It is entirely feasible for Austin to operate as its own state, within the United States, in the event that Texas is successful in the current bid to secede. It is important for Austin to remain in the union as to do so would protect it's citizens' standard of living and re-secure their rights and liberties in accordance with the original ideas and beliefs of our founding fathers.
We would also like to annex Dublin Texas, Lockhart Texas, & Shiner Texas. https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/peacefully-grant-city-austin-texas-withdraw-state-texas-remain-part-united-states/TDD212hQ |

thelastPope: Again, you sounf like the guy who said the titanic would never sink Never say never but in this case, chances of it happening is less than 2%. A few years ago, only 18% of the people polled favored secession. EVEN if more people favored it, they still do not have the autonomy to decide unilaterally whether or not to leave the union. Like I said, the civil war of 1861-1865 was EXACTLY about leaving the union. They tried it once and failed. |

Health › Re: I Have Malaria Every Week, Please Any Advice. by Wallie(m): 6:26pm On Nov 13, 2012 |
Hopefully, the drug resistant malaria spoken about in this article is not already in Nigeria! Malaria remains one of the world’s great unnecessary killers. More than 650,000 people succumb to the disease each year — that’s more than one per minute — mostly in the poor nations of sub-Saharan Africa, but as deadly as malaria is, it doesn’t have to kill. Prevention and better treatment can stop the progression of the disease, and death tends to be a matter of extreme poverty.
Indeed, in recent years great progress has been made in controlling malaria, with deaths down 30% over the past decade. That’s thanks largely to more effective treatment regimens that make use of artemisinin, a plant-derived antimalarial drug originally developed in China. Artemisinin is the closest thing we have to a miracle drug for malaria.
That’s what makes the results of two studies out this week in the Lancet and Science so disturbing. Health officials have known for a while that some malaria parasites in the Southeast Asian nation of Cambodia have begun to develop resistance to artemisinin, but they hoped the resistance wasn’t spreading. Now researchers in the region have shown that artemisinin is becoming dramatically less potent in malaria cases in western Thailand, and they know it’s due to growing drug resistance in the malaria parasites themselves. If resistance to artemisinin were to spread to sub-Saharan Africa, the result could be a “public health disaster,” in the words of lead Lancet author Standwell Nkhoma of the Texas Biomedical Research Institute.
Artemisinin-resistant malaria parasites first emerged in Cambodia in 2006, which led to an international effort to control malaria and contain resistant strains there. But scientists in the Lancet study looked at more than 3,000 patients who were treated at malaria clinics in northwestern Thailand between 2001 and 2010. The researchers — including staff from Texas Biomed, Mahidol University in Bangkok and the Centre for Tropical Medicine at Oxford — found that it took longer and longer for malaria parasites to be cleared during treatment, a sign of growing resistance.
Molecular analysis of the malaria parasites showed that this resistance to treatment was due to a genetic trait — the parasites were adapting to artemisinin, just as they had in Cambodia. “Genetically determined artemisinin resistance in [the parasite] emerged along the Thailand-Myanmar [Burma] border at least eight years ago and has since increased substantially,” the authors wrote in the Lancet paper. “At this rate of increase, resistance will reach rates reported in western Cambodia in two to six years.”
In another study published in Science, researchers at Texas Biomed and their colleagues managed to get close to isolating the genes in the malaria parasite that convey resistance to artemisinin. That will help scientists understand how artemisinin interacts with the parasite, and how resistance takes place over time. In the future, it may even offer clues on how to alter treatment to cancel out resistance — to adapt to the parasite’s adaptation. “Mapping the geographical spread of resistance can be particularly challenging using existing clinical and parasitological tools,” Texas Biomed’s Dr. Tim Anderson said in a statement. “If we can identify the genetic determinants of artemisinin resistance, we should be able to confirm potential cases of resistance more rapidly. This could be critically importing for limiting further spread of resistance.”
Drug resistance is inevitable — the more a treatment is used, the faster resistance will often develop, and the fact is that there are some 250 million cases of malaria a year. The only hope is to try to root out resistant-malaria where it occurs, and stop the chain of resistant transmission. That was hard enough in Cambodia, but with drug-resistant malaria spreading to Thailand and likely Burma as well — a desperately poor nation with a threadbare medical system — it will only get tougher. And if resistant malaria spreads to Africa, where the disease is still a catastrophe, perhaps millions more could die, as Francois Nosten of the Shoklo Malaria Research Unit in Thailand put it:
We are in a race against time to control malaria in these regions before drug resistance worsens and develops and spreads further. The effect of that happening could be devastating. Malaria already kills hundreds of thousands of people a year — if our drugs become ineffective, this figure will rise dramatically.
The struggle against malaria really is a war — and it’s far from over. Read more: http://healthland.time.com/2012/04/06/drug-resistant-malaria-is-spreading-and-it-could-be-a-public-health-disaster/#ixzz2C7mSW4KK |

I traveled back home a few months ago with a lot of luggage so I had to get a porter (plus a few of his friends) when claiming my luggage. The porter was very friendly and helped me get through customs with zero hassle. On getting outside, I needed some naira to give out before my driver showed up and I was approached by a guy that claimed to change dollars. As I was reaching into my pocket, the porter told me right in front of the guy not to change any money.
A mini argument ensued and the guy angrily walked away, cursing at the porter! The porter then told me that regardless of how many times I counted the money given to me, it will come up short by the time the guy leaves. I remember thinking that it can never happen but listening to you guys, I’m glad I listened to the porter! |

Let me inject a little humor in this somber thread! And I'm glad I can look back and laugh about it! In the late 1990s, I was driving home from college in my beloved first car. I stopped at the light when the light turned red. Just before the light turned green, a lady walked right past the right side of my car on the sidewalk but all I could see was her “behind”. It looked mesmerizing and as the light turned green, I took off but looking out the side window trying to see her face. The next thing I know, I ran into a trailer (tipper)! What happened: when the light in my lane turned green, it also turned green for the oncoming cars in the opposite direction. Normally, cars in the opposite direction trying to make a left-turn have to yield for oncoming vehicles. I guess the truck driver tried to quickly turn before my lane took off and I did not see him because I was trying to see the girl’s face out the side window! Fortunately for me, I ran right into the truck’s front tire as he was turning and not underneath him! My car got totaled; the whole front end gone! Luckily, I was also wearing my seatbelt; otherwise, I would have gone out the windshield. When I got to the ER, my chest was blood-red from the seatbelt restraining me! Funny thing is, I doubt the girl stopped after the accident! |

Boy3 is the rebel because he probably needed more hugs than he got from my mom… |

And if he says he didn't mean that then I need to see his evidence that most cosmetics that women use contain mercury in toxic enough levels or higher levels than what you would get by eating fish for a week for instance. Inorganic mercury compounds seems to cause tumors. Acute exposure to inorganic mercury by the oral route may result in effects such as nausea, vomiting, and severe abdominal pain. The major effect from chronic exposure to inorganic mercury is kidney damage. Animal studies have reported effects such as alterations in testicular tissue, increased resorption rates, and abnormalities of development. Mercuric chloride (an inorganic mercury compound) exposure has been shown to result in forestomach, thyroid, and renal tumors in experimental animals. http://www.epa.gov/ttnatw01/hlthef/mercury.htmlHere's an article of mecury in beauty products Federal health officials are warning consumers not to use skin creams, beauty and antiseptic soaps, or lotions that might contain mercury.
The products are marketed as skin lighteners and anti-aging treatments that remove age spots, freckles, blemishes and wrinkles, says Gary Coody, national health fraud coordinator in the Food and Drug Administration’s Office of Regulatory Affairs. Adolescents also may use these products as acne treatments, adds Coody. Products with this toxic metal have been found in at least seven states.
The products are manufactured abroad and sold illegally in the United States—often in shops in Latino, Asian, African or Middle Eastern neighborhoods and online. Consumers may also have bought them in another country and brought them back to the U.S. for personal use.
“If you have a product that matches these descriptions (and others listed below), stop using it immediately,” says Coody.
“Even though these products are promoted as cosmetics, they also may be unapproved new drugs under the law,” says Linda Katz, M.D., director of FDA’s Office of Cosmetics and Colors. FDA does not allow mercury in drugs or in cosmetics, except under very specific conditions, which these products do not meet.
“Sellers and distributors should not market these illegal products and may be subject to enforcement action, which could include seizure of the products and other legal sanctions,” says attorney Brad Pace, J.D., of the Heath Fraud and Consumer Outreach Branch within FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.

Dangers of Mercury “Exposure to mercury can have serious health consequences,” says Charles Lee, M.D., a senior medical advisor at FDA. “It can damage the kidneys and the nervous system, and interfere with the development of the brain in unborn children and very young children.”
You don’t have to use the product yourself to be affected, says FDA toxicologist Mike Bolger, Ph.D. “People—particularly children—can get mercury in their bodies from breathing in mercury vapors if a member of the household uses a skin cream containing mercury.” Infants and small children can ingest mercury if they touch their parents who have used these products, get cream on their hands and then put their hands and fingers into their mouth, which they are prone to do, adds Bolger.

How to Protect Yourself Check the label of any skin lightening, anti-aging or other skin product you use. If you see the words “mercurous chloride,” “calomel,” “mercuric,” “mercurio,” or “mercury,” stop using the product immediately. If there is no label or no ingredients are listed, do not use the product. Federal law requires that ingredients be listed on the label of any cosmetic or drug. Don’t use products labeled in languages other than English unless English labeling is also provided. If you suspect you have been using a product with mercury, stop using it immediately. Thoroughly wash your hands and any other parts of your body that have come in contact with the product. Contact your health care professional or a medical care clinic for advice. If you have questions, call your health care professional or the Poison Center at 1-800-222-1222; it is open 24 hours a day. Before throwing out a product that may contain mercury, seal it in a plastic bag or leak-proof container. Check with your local environmental, health or solid waste agency for disposal instructions. Some communities have special collections or other options for disposing of household hazardous waste. back to top
Tracking Skin Products Containing Mercury Investigations in the past few years by FDA and state health officials have turned up more than 35 products that contain unacceptable levels of mercury. FDA continues to add mercury-containing skin products to its import alerts, which authorize the agency’s field staff to refuse admission of shipments of these products.
But this is only a partial solution, says Coody. “Many of these products are coming into the country through channels we can’t easily track, such as international mail and personal baggage. That’s why it’s so important for consumers and sellers to know about the dangers of possible mercury poisoning associated with the use of these skin products.”
Texas health officials say samples of face cream they tested contained mercury up to 131,000 times the allowable level. And a teenager in southern Texas who used a mercury-containing skin cream was recently hospitalized for mercury poisoning.
In Northern California, a 39-year old woman had more than 100 times the average amount of mercury in her urine and had symptoms of mercury poisoning, according to the California Department of Public Health. For three years, the woman and her husband had been using an unlabeled mercury-containing face cream that was brought into the U.S. from Mexico by a relative. Several other family members who did not use the cream, including a four-year-old child, also had elevated levels of mercury in their bodies.
Virginia, Maryland, and New York have also seen cases of elevated mercury levels in people exposed to skin products containing mercury. In Minnesota, 11 of 27 imported skin products taken from store shelves contained mercury . Photos of some illegal mercury-containing products are shown here:

ileobatojo: Mercury is a carcinogen? Do you have a source for this info? Did you know there is mercury in fish and some types of fish have higher levels of mercury than others? I hope you don't eat any fish cos you know you're absorbing those "carcinogens" straight from your gut into your bloodstream if you do! 2004 EPA and FDA Advice For: Women Who Might Become Pregnant Women Who are Pregnant Nursing Mothers Young Children
Fish and shellfish are an important part of a healthy diet. Fish and shellfish contain high-quality protein and other essential nutrients, are low in saturated fat, and contain omega-3 fatty acids. A well-balanced diet that includes a variety of fish and shellfish can contribute to heart health and children's proper growth and development. So, women and young children in particular should include fish or shellfish in their diets due to the many nutritional benefits.
However, nearly all fish and shellfish contain traces of mercury. For most people, the risk from mercury by eating fish and shellfish is not a health concern. Yet, some fish and shellfish contain higher levels of mercury that may harm an unborn baby or young child's developing nervous system. The risks from mercury in fish and shellfish depend on the amount of fish and shellfish eaten and the levels of mercury in the fish and shellfish. Therefore, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are advising women who may become pregnant, pregnant women, nursing mothers, and young children to avoid some types of fish and eat fish and shellfish that are lower in mercury.
By following these 3 recommendations for selecting and eating fish or shellfish, women and young children will receive the benefits of eating fish and shellfish and be confident that they have reduced their exposure to the harmful effects of mercury.
Do not eat Shark, Swordfish, King Mackerel, or Tilefish because they contain high levels of mercury.
Eat up to 12 ounces (2 average meals) a week of a variety of fish and shellfish that are lower in mercury.
Five of the most commonly eaten fish that are low in mercury are shrimp, canned light tuna, salmon, pollock, and catfish.
Another commonly eaten fish, albacore ("white" tuna has more mercury than canned light tuna. So, when choosing your two meals of fish and shellfish, you may eat up to 6 ounces (one average meal) of albacore tuna per week.
Check local advisories about the safety of fish caught by family and friends in your local lakes, rivers, and coastal areas. If no advice is available, eat up to 6 ounces (one average meal) per week of fish you catch from local waters, but don't consume any other fish during that week. Follow these same recommendations when feeding fish and shellfish to your young child, but serve smaller portions.
Frequently Asked Questions about Mercury in Fish and Shellfish:
"What is mercury and methylmercury?" Mercury occurs naturally in the environment and can also be released into the air through industrial pollution. Mercury falls from the air and can accumulate in streams and oceans and is turned into methylmercury in the water. It is this type of mercury that can be harmful to your unborn baby and young child. Fish absorb the methylmercury as they feed in these waters and so it builds up in them. It builds up more in some types of fish and shellfish than others, depending on what the fish eat, which is why the levels vary.
"I'm a woman who could have children but I'm not pregnant - so why should I be concerned about methylmercury?" If you regularly eat types of fish that are high in methylmercury, it can accumulate in your blood stream over time. Methylmercury is removed from the body naturally, but it may take over a year for the levels to drop significantly. Thus, it may be present in a woman even before she becomes pregnant. This is the reason why women who are trying to become pregnant should also avoid eating certain types of fish.
"Is there methylmercury in all fish and shellfish?" Nearly all fish and shellfish contain traces of methylmercury. However, larger fish that have lived longer have the highest levels of methylmercury because they've had more time to accumulate it. These large fish (swordfish, shark, king mackerel and tilefish) pose the greatest risk. Other types of fish and shellfish may be eaten in the amounts recommended by FDA and EPA.
"I don't see the fish I eat in the advisory. What should I do?" If you want more information about the levels in the various types of fish you eat, see the FDA food safety website or the EPA website.
"What about fish sticks and fast food sandwiches?" Fish sticks and "fast-food" sandwiches are commonly made from fish that are low in mercury.
"The advice about canned tuna is in the advisory, but what's the advice about tuna steaks?" Because tuna steak generally contains higher levels of mercury than canned light tuna, when choosing your two meals of fish and shellfish, you may eat up to 6 ounces (one average meal) of tuna steak per week.
"What if I eat more than the recommended amount of fish and shellfish in a week?" One week's consumption of fish does not change the level of methylmercury in the body much at all. If you eat a lot of fish one week, you can cut back for the next week or two. Just make sure you average the recommended amount per week.
"Where do I get information about the safety of fish caught recreationally by family or friends?" Before you go fishing, check your Fishing Regulations Booklet for information about recreationally caught fish. You can also contact your local health department for information about local advisories. You need to check local advisories because some kinds of fish and shellfish caught in your local waters may have higher or much lower than average levels of mercury. This depends on the levels of mercury in the water in which the fish are caught. Those fish with much lower levels may be eaten more frequently and in larger amounts. http://www.fda.gov/food/foodsafety/product-specificinformation/seafood/foodbornepathogenscontaminants/methylmercury/ucm115662.htm |

I hope you don't eat any fish cos you know you're absorbing those "carcinogens" straight from your gut into your bloodstream if you do! It is funny seeing all these people that have never had intimacy commenting! I bet they're the types that go to the swimming pool and stand at attention! |

Yes, I would allow it if that's what she want! Remember guys, this is not simply for your own pleasure but for her own self esteem. Most, if not all, married women will like to have the firm and toned body they once had and some even want something better than they ever had. I'm all for anything that's not too invasive. People look at the celebrities and comment how they appear to never get old but have no idea the extent those people have gone to keep their youthful figure.
I will gladly pay for implants, tummy tuck and a face lift if she asks for it BUT I don't like implants that are too out there! It has to look natural. By the way, implants contain saline (salt water) nowadays and if they rupture, the body will simply absorb it. |

Can be deadly or safe. It depends on what's in it, how much of it you take and its side effects.
Like modern medicine, agbo (herbs) CAN be useful in treating aliments but its efficacy depends on how applicable it is to treat your particular ailment. For example, Tylenol works for most headaches but will probably do very little or nothing to cure kidney problems. Also, overdosing Tylenol can lead to liver and kidney problems, and the same is true for any herbs also.
What you have to realize is that some modern medicines are derived from herbs but unlike agbos, medicine manufacturers will seek to find an effective dosage that won't harm your body and they mostly use a subset of the chemicals present in the herbs to develop the medicine. But do you want to trust your health with someone hawking on the streets?

During the week, I probably spend about 15 hours per day on the computer. On weekends, probably between 5-8 hours depending on if I stayed home or not. |
