Lovelygbems: And where do banks get funds from?? The banking sector is one of the most highly regulated sector. Banks are LICENSED to mobilise for deposits. Based on regulation a substantial amount of that is 'kept' with the central banks. The funds deposited are also insured. Officers of banks are APPROVED by the Central Banks. Inspectors/Examiners are available to check the books of the banks. Banks submit monthly report to the CBN. I hope your organisation is such regulated. |

Mpeace: There are several publications on transcorp oil and gas. Look through their annual reports and see some. Also google and find many. This is another I got from google. Note that this is different from earlier once. Heirs is in partnership with Transcorp. What's the nature of the partnership? Has TRANSCORP issued any notice on the NSE to that effect? Tony used Heirs holdings for the acquisition. Transcorp has its own Oil Block but don't think they are doing anything on the block. |

Much of transcorp's improved earnings last year came in the 2nd and 3rd qrt, meaning we may see more improvements especially in the current year. Which oil and gas field is Transcorp producing from? Hope you are not confusing with HEIRS? |

emmanuelewumi: Referring to debt equity ratio. I can't have a debt that is 3 times my Networth. If that should happen, I should be reducing the debt every year and not to increase the debt.
Ideally debt equity ratio should be 1:1 and in extreme cases 1.5:1
High debt will give a semblance of a high return on equity, but that doesn't tell the whole story. Reason why we use various matrixes.
The most important thing for intelligent investors is to set a realistic margin of safety for themselves Debt to equity ratio does not tell the complete story. And there is no ideal ratio because each industry/sector have its own peculiarities. What is important for me is the weighted average cost of capital. If debt is far cheaper than equity why not go for debt? What Nairametrics should have done is to calculate the cost of capital and show that equity is cheaper than debt. Next is to look at the ratio of current assets/current liabilities? That gives an indication on their ability to meet their obligations. Lastly foreign investors are careful about bringing additional equities in to the country. So they are better going for debt to mitigate the risk. |

We might see them on a serious move towards loco's price target as Ucap is currently doing. Mind u transcorp is now into oil and gas. Which producing field do they have and what is their production? Please don't confuse then with Heirs Holdings |

emmanuelewumi: Presco is another company with a wonderful growth story.
Listed at N2.00 about 20 years ago, gave a bonus of 1 for 2 and currently selling at about N50
Stanbic IBTC Pension managers currently own 7.5% of Presco.
Unfortunately the 2 companies making billions of Naira and earning forex from agriculture are foreign owned, does that means Nigerians don't have an eye to see opportunities in this sector They earn little or no FOREX. Most of their customers are locals. Presco's only foreign customer is a German company. They can't be exporting when we are yet to meet local demands. There was no export in 2019 and 2020 While revenue from local sales for Presco in 2020 was N23.5 bn, related party sales (can even classify this as export) was N0.4bn which is less than 2% of total sales. |

jideflash: make we no lie, the names mention below are part of the problem in nigeria investment space. they are master stockmarket manipulators, serial debtors that get away with so many malpractice while enjoying large corporate bonus and govt bailouts. Truth is; no one has ever been punished by regulators.
okomu strong growth against inflation and devaluation is due to the fact they export most of their products, earning FX. Their operations do not depend on imported inputs.

PhollyPearl: Invest for 14 months... Get an ROI of 41% How it works: * Invest a certain amount * Get an ROI of 41% (no upfront) * A post dated cheque will be given to you for your capital and ROI (Interest).
To get an upfront in ROI, ROI reduces to 38% and *Your Investment must be up to *1M* *Only half of your ROI will be paid to you within 7days after subscribing. * Other half will be added to your capital. * A post dated cheque will be given for your capital and ROI (remaining half) to be cleared at maturity (14th month)
All our Investments comes with 2 copies of deed of Agreement and a post dated cheque for your cash back Contact : 08167679590 for more info Very good investment case. So if I invest N1m I get 38% upfront (N380k) so you basically collect N620k from me. So I am investing N620k to get N380k! waooooo Can you briefly explain the rationale of paying investors 38% when you can easily collect a loan from the bank at less than 30%? With this wonderful investment case I am sure the likes of Dangote must be elated with the opportunity to get 40% returns per annum. |

Biafran4life: You don't get it.If I buy gtb at #33.And I get my dividend after mark down. And gtb dropss further from #30 to #28.If I don't sell, I don't think I have made a loss. That stock goes down and goes up is normal. As long as I have not sold is no loss to me since I know it will still go north. So why will I wait to buy at your assumed perfect price when is my money as long as the company has all the right fundamentals Irrespective of what people say, NO ONE knows the lowest or the highest that a stock will be. So BUY and SELL at a price you feel comfortable with. It is your MONEY and you owe no one any explanation. Don't feel bad even if you buy at a higher prices PROVIDED you bought a GOOD company that is growing earnings, have good ROE and ROA and relatively good cashflow from operations. Last year, Zenith was dropping from about N22.00. Some bought at N18.00 and few people laughed at them that Zenith will drop lower! They were right. Zenith did drop lower. It got to 16, 14, 11 and people still laughed at those that bought at those prices. They said they will wait till Zenith get to N5.00 before buying. They are still waiting! Share prices go up and down everyday. If you are moved by the daily price movements, you will never invest. |

Toluway: Agriculture and Telecommunications actually actually lifted Nigeria from the last recession; according to the federal government. Mining would be the next major source, if the operators would not be too lazy or complacent to exploit it. Nigeria think better whenever there is pressure to mitigate recession climate. The resources are there. This is God's own country. Europe would always envy us. Our state of deprivation is privation to us.
The country is blessed with inexhaustible natural resources. No matter how much stealing is going on, the economy would not die. The problem is distribution of resources. There is too much gap between the have and have-nots.
Another problem is insane borrowing. Stealing, borrowing and stealing what is borrowed. A vicious circle. Agriculture provides LITTLE money to government. Tax rate for that sector is the lowest. How really does govt make money from agriculture with the low price? Telecoms? Yes some money is made but it is in NAIRA so how does that affect exchange rate? Natural resources/commodities help no one. Apple earn more money than Nigeria just by selling 'innovative' products. The more we focus on 'natural resources' the poorer we will become. We need to 'sell' value added service/products |

Toluway: I wonder the type of education our leaders acquired. Africans would be boasting of first class and professorial caps when what they did to aquire their academic laurels was only copy and paste, memorise and download, without ability to use their brains to profer solutions to problems. That is the bane of african development.
Nigerian leaders can't think about providing infrastructure and general industrial climate, encourage investments and provide credit facilities, provide security and other incentives to attract foreign investors with the overall aim of boosting economic activities for national economic development that would result in a strong naira.
It therefore appears that the only thing that our economists learned from 'Nigerian school of economics' is to periodically devalue the naira in other to accommodate it's dollar master and perpetually subject the nation to the labyrinth of western economic subjugation and slavery. Finally, our cbn governor is always eager to take instructions from Europe to devalue our naira. No brains. Very unfortunate. It is not rocket science. All we need to do is for Nigerians to be innovative and set up companies with products and services that others will want. Right now the only thing we produce (which is not due to any innovation) that the world need is oil! So if you want a strong Naira, have a company that produces goods and services that others are willing to pay for. That will require first and foremost innovation! |
