House, please after conclusion of ECA by WES Canada, how long does it take to get the hard copy in Nigeria using standard option.

Means, I mean number of working days between when sent and when received here.

This varies, but you should normally get it between 20 -30 calendar days in most parts of Nigeria from the date that you're informed of the Evaluation outcome - Date on the PDF.

Mine: 20days
Spouse: 23days (Holidays 2 days included)

So, just be hopeful in between 20-25 calendar days you should get it.

Also remember to adequately inform those who will be receiving it in your absence as it comes with NIG POST, so do not expect to receive a call prior to delivery.

I hope you got a favorable evaluation and I wish you the best in the remaining journey ahead.

[Please do the calendar>>to>>workingdays convertion]

I hope this has been helpful, and I'll like to thank you for reading.

Hi house,

I entered the pool on Friday with 409 score while I rewrite my ielts for better score.

However, I got an email that there's an update on my application by Saturday night.

I checked but didn't see anything.

Should I be worried?

Q: Should you be worried?
A: NO! Try not to always think of the negative in this process, because so many things will want to become negative, so keep the spirit high and positive.

Q: Is it normal?
A: YES!, at least I got exact same during mine, and I guess it was just a delay, the email should have come earlier, probably hours after your registration/signup. It is a kind of signup/change notification.

Q: What next?
A: Try to max your IELTS, pray for favorable draws in the coming days/months, aim your CRS at >470s for peace of mind. And, ensure you are open to PNP.

I hope this has been helpful, and I'll like to thank you for reading.

For proof of employment, is employment letter and reference letter enough for an employment in 2017 to 2018? Are there other documents required? Kindly help confirm

I am going to advise you based solely on what I did.

Q: Is the employment letter and reference letter enough?
A: YES!

Q: Are there other documents required?
A: NO!

Q: Can you add other documents to support?
A: YES!

Q: Should you add other documents to support?
A: YES! Do whatever makes you sleep well at night.
REASON: You'll have many nights where you'll pray sleep comes quickly because of one thought or the other regarding your submitted application - surely you do not want to have any sleepless night as a result of your negligence. - So, JUST DO IT!

Q: When is other documents MANDATORY?
A: When you're unable to get the Reference Letter in CIC/IRCC recommended format, or when unable to get it at all.

Q: What are other documents you can add?
A: ID Card, Payslip/stub, Promotion Letter, Employment Letter, Retirement Letter (if you have cheesy)

Note, although you may be tempted to add all your office documents, emails, pictures, dinner party, and employee rosters just to prove your point - Please don't. Just keep your application simple. It is very difficult to get an automatic reject without them asking you to provide more information when/if they need clarity. At the least, you'll be given 7 days. And to buttress it, nothing or no one has been able to prove that ADR or cumbersome application got them PPR faster/slower than usual. So, just keep it simple, despite your search for peace of mind and quality sleep time. grin

I hope this has been helpful, and I'll like to thank you for reading.

niyogeol:
Hi guys,

Please I need clarification on the work history and personal history thing post ITA as I have not been able to get pass that on the application form. So my questions are:

1) Do I still need to put the jobs I am claiming for work history under personal history?

2) I have tried to arrange the personal history in chronological order for 10 years as instructed but it is not turning green. Instead it keeps showing personal activities error when I clicked on the completeness check.

3) Is it necessary I put part time job that happened during my MSc under personal history or just make claim for them in LOE; as these jobs were running concurrently with my studies.

Thank you all in anticipation of your kind response.
Elvis390:
Please can someone help with this. I've been stuck here myself for about 2 days.

To begin with, Congratulations on your ITA.

1) Do I still need to put the jobs I am claiming for work history under personal history?
- YES, there should not be any gap in your last 10 years.

2) I have tried to arrange the personal history in chronological order for 10 years as instructed but it is not turning green. Instead it keeps showing personal activities error when I clicked on the completeness check.
- Check if there are any date lap or there are gaps.
- Just check generally within the forms, and click next/continue.
- You may even change the browser or clear cookies. If all things are right, you'll surely get through it.

3) Is it necessary I put part-time job that happened during my MSc under personal history or just make a claim for them in LOE; as these jobs were running concurrently with my studies?
- Regardless of them running concurrently, you should include them under the personal history
- This is even more mandatory especially when you're claiming the required points for it.

You can ask further questions for clarity should you need to, and surely someone will answer.

I hope this has been helpful, and I'll like to thank you for reading.

A long read on BIOMETRICS at VFS Global - Canada VAC, Lagos

Biometrics is no longer business as usual

Sometimes ago the biometrics capture is seen as a long-queue process where you have to arrive early, seat under the sun, and with the possibility of meeting someone you may know. Well, the story has changed not only for speed but also for the fact that IRCC currently takes pleasure in delighting applicants now than in recent past.

Shortly after Medical Passed at around 1am midnight on the 22nd, I tried rescinding the initial booked appointment date that I had made earlier in the month with hope and believe that I will get Medical Passed on 23rd, but as I will later realize It came a day faster than my expectation..."chai this feeling is sweet o". Well, I wish I can predict my PPR date like this - This will mean a jackpot.

Moving on, I quickly cancelled the bookings for 24th and tried making it the next day - The 23rd. However, VFS Lagos do not allow less than 24hours booking but this I only realized after cancelling the first appointment. Well, it was a Wednesday so I switfly re-schedule for the same 24th I had earlier picked - You can't run faster than your legs - since to everything there is a purpose, I guess the same fate as with my unbelievable experience at VFS Lagos.

Swiftly came the 24th, I had taken a day off from work for it and this was to allow me visit VFS as well spend time with my family - we had a great time both at VFS as well as the outing. Thanks to the professionalism of support staff at the Canada Visa Application Center - VAC, damn! to the least they were awesome - swift and topnotch operation you may call it. Also, that of the one-stop cuisine at Ikoyi - we were given a unique treat - those Ice creams were out of this world. My both babies had had a fantastic time today cheesy, but above all we had gotten "Biometrics Completed" on our IRCC profile account and was already issued a Biometrics Number even before getting home from our adventure.

What's more? on arrival at the Center, you'll be greeted with a throng of people soliciting for your patronage. The beauty in this is that they give a sense of believe that business opportunities are endless. Well, I subscribed to a parking space option just for the period of my stay. If you had expected this to be a confortable parking lot, unfortunately it wasn't rather, it is an open space but with an assurance of the seller's watch for security of your car - I paid a token - #500 precisely.

Shortly after walking through the guarded gates and manned doors, we were aided all along by concise directive from the security men and into the main auditorium where the Biometrics activities are conducted. While in there, we were ushered to meet an Automated Ticket Machine operator who give out ticket based on your bookings - Be sure to go with your appointment letter as this is required at this point and afterward. This ticket will be called in synonymous to Airport flight departure calls, ensure you set your sight on the TV screens or listen for the number on your issued ticket as this will determine which Counter to go next after the form filling phase.

The next step is form filling. Each person going for the Biometrics should request for 2 forms. This is well explained if only you can read through in details and between the lines on the form, but as a regular "naija kid", we don't read "terms and condition". So, I "sharperly" asked the people around for the parts to be filled, and I was accurately informed - A portion at the front with your address and at the back with your Name/Signature and Date. Ensure you go with a Pen as this caused us much delay.

Also, aside the delay from the pen, I guess there are things to take away from the IELTS ordeal - Listening! Yes, you need maximum of it here. I realized most staff here kind of speak in low tone yet fast because you'll need them to repeat many times if you would need more than the ordinary assistance.

The main change is that we spent less than 7mins! The is remarkable you'ld say - And, yes indeed it is. Having finished filling the form, our Ticket Number was called and we moved to Counter 4 - The Pre-submission Counter, as directed by the Automated Voice System. What we did here was just to present our papers in certain order - Never mind about the specifics of arrangement, this will be sorted in the desired order by the staff in the counter. At this counter you'll need to have firstly, your printed BIL Letter, The form given to be filled, your International Passport Data page - 2 copies, and your Original International Passport and then you'll be requested to write in pen your email and phone number. All these will be inserted into a clear folder bag and handed back to you. I guess what really happens here is sorting and document arrangement just to ease the operation at the next counter. After this, you'll be re-directed to go the Submission Counter.

At this point, you'll get a feeling that you may have been quite lucky because the Biometrics process for Express Entry is truly EXPRESS! Dont be surprised that you'll be called first before those who were there long before you but not under same category, probably for schooling, visiting visa etc. As usual, we were called again by the Voice System to Counter 10. We met this amazing guy whom him and I switfly bonded and made jokes together. Our document was keyed into the system without haste and before we knew it, he was done! some 5mins spent here, I guess.

Finally, this next phase seem so dramatic - An experience that I haven't been able to understand what we actually went in there for. Well, it was the main deal - The Biometrics Capture Room! "Yippie...we'll be done in a short while", I said. As always, we waited for the Voice System again - Our ever-present assistant. The sweet-tone lady called our Ticket Number CNI---3 for what will be the last time, and we all stood up to proceed to the capture room but, we were told "Only one person at a time" - Well guided you might say. So madam went in first as I had to stay with my kid and before I could make a call she was out! Me: Did they chase you out? lol - She was done. I went in and took mine, the lady? "Tight-faced" but somehow got smiling as I was in awe of how the process went. You'll be told to raise your both hands up just like in movies when a criminal is being apprehended with the scream - "raise your hands up!", well she didn't yell but all others activities followed the same procedures. I raised both hands up, flipped them upon instruction, looked up to a black camera at the top right hand corner, and then she ordered me to have a seat. While starring at those points, several photographs of your hands, height, eye color etc are being taken in silent mode - This is a topnotch technology! After seating, she took a no-flash photograh - Shoulder up, chin down. And lastly, I was told to do an All fingers-print - similar to that done at the Police Office for PCC - but this time on a machine, much like that used when you go for PVC registration. All 10 finger were taken - Right Hand 4 fingers together first, then followed by Left Hand 4 fingers and lastly, the 2 thumbs together - in a 4-4-2 formation.

And boom, we were done! At this Room you'll be given a yellow paper roll ticket similar to the famous white colored "BET9ja ticket" (don't ask) - This is quite long, anyway. This special ticket will be stapled to the Photocopy of your International Passport Datapage and you'll be given your Original International Passport as well. Finally, you'll be told to come along with it whenever you're asked to bring in your Passport - The Request for Passport notification - popularly known as PPR. At this point, I felt, indeed this is becoming real! Eventually, someday I will have to submit the passport for stamping.

Ultimately, for long I have often believed that much of the phases in this journey comes with stress, but the turn in events, an example of the Medicals, and now the Biometrics are indications that certainly the process is getting faster, better and no longer delayed - The previous business as usual. To buttress this, our medicals was completed in about 2 hours much like the Biometrics, which was done in just 30mins! And, this is now the new "business as usual".

In a wrap
What is required;
- Book early online CLICK HERE
- BIL Letter (per recipient)
- VFS Appointment Letter (per recipient)
- 2 Photocopies of the International Passport Datapage
- The Original International Passport

What is not required;
- NO Photograph/passport photograh
- NO Invitation Letter/ITA
- NO Money [if you already paid in full up front at submission/AOR]

I hope this is helpful. And, I'll like to thank you for reading.

Good day all
Please is gate crashing still applicable at qlife or IOM if with ITA/remedical request letter.

Well, I might not be able to answer affirmatively because I don't work for either of them neither did I apply that approach for mine.

But, I will answer based on personal experience just last week with QLife.

Well, I got an unexpected ITA and had to immediately book an appointment though I wanted a closer date. So, on the booked date I visited and sadly, I got there around 7:18am. I was #1 on the list for Canada medicals.

All through the medicals we were just two - 2! My family and another single applicant came for the Canada Medicals. And we were both done before 10am.

During the medicals the USA Medicals people had a lady who showed up before her date in fact, she paid a day prior and her appointment was like 3weeks ahead, but she "gate crashed".

Beside gate crashing, she caused a scene claiming she needed it for her appointment that it will be closing in 2weeks or so, that she needed the medicals for her interview at the Embassy. She said she called the hospital and they told her to just come. After a little argument, they allowed her take her medicals.

As I sat and watched, I told myself if I knew I would have done same.

See, people usually book ahead with the hope of getting ITA but because of this high CRS people often turn those bookings down thus medicals would always be available - I think.

So you might just try if you stay close to the hospital, and let's see how it plays out. And, if I were to go back in time, I would pull a gate crash.

I hope this is helpful, and I'll like to thank you for reading.

Good day all,

Please is there any amount paid in court for gift deed and affidavit?

Thanks.

For the affidavit...well I don't know. But I think you will. Also, this isn't mandatory. Your gift deed and an LOE should do just fine.

However, for the gift deed you don't need to go to a court rather head to a notary public office/law firm.

CLICK HERE for all notary locator.

The price is dependent on the firm. I got mine for 2k for one letter gift deed - a page.

Note: the Giver and Recipient may need to be present as your signature would be confirmed for authenticity.

I hope this is helpful and I'll like to thank you for reading.

After submission nko ?
The printer will be of no use.

I hope you're asking to know sha, but even if you're not, I wish you'll find this enlightening for other areas of life. While for those who may be considering their options;

LOOKING AT THE BIGGER PICTURE

Options after submission;
- For those who love business/money/opportunities - You can always sell ALMOST ANYTHING today without hassle - trade online; second-hand value would NEVER be less than 5k. Meaning you satisfied your purpose yet made some money as a return - How about that? shocked...we need to start looking ahead.
- For those who love to read - Now you can print all those "not so needed but, I wish I can have it in paper form" kind of document. If you know you know. (apologies to the environmentalist amidst us - don't worry your forests won't disappear in the next Millenium, research says)
- Lastly, if later the printer all of a sudden becomes a burden, try doing some charity and see if you won't see anyone who will be willing to gracefully receive it in this forum, at the least. - should you not find after three days, please PM me. grin grin grin

This is me saying YOUR CHOICES ARE YOURS, LIKEWISE YOUR OPINION, but if you can, always look outward for the greater picture! Opportunities abound in our everyday life but, we mostly wouldn't see them because of our opinion/choices.

#beHopeful.

As you might have known now, that this race is not to the swift, just as it is not by your power or skill rather at the discretion of IRCC.

Nonetheless, should you have other means of upgrading your CRS Points - by all means, JUST DO IT. So that you can get sweet dreams.. grin

Viable options;
- Max IELTS if you haven't
- Go to school - Increase your degree - BCS, CIMA, MSc, PGD, PhD
- Learn french - Take TEF
- Sponsor a loyal sibling - Loyal! To get the sibling points.
- Collabo - Find person join body - if still single. Caution, don't take responsibility oo, infact make em pass IELTS First, gather POF, get better degree. You go fear marriage requirement nah...even IRCC dey learn. Lol grin grin lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

JUST DO WHATEVER LEGAL THAT YOU CAN DO TO ADD THOSE POINTS, just in case the younger generation start flooding the market.

Queenmaker:
Hello, good people. Please permit me to ask a silly question. grin
For scanning documents and uploading them, in the creation of express entry profile for example, would it be suitable to use mobile scanning apps like Adobe scan? Or must I do it at a business centre? Has anyone successfully used any phone app to scan documents for Canadian immigration process?

Yes!

Many had used it and gave some positive review on both of the options, however I wouldn't advice any.

Firstly, the options of using app/phone produces snapshot that are somewhat unclear as would be if the scanned documents were to be done on a proper scanner - you can agree with me on this.

Also, the use of cybercafe would have been ok, but this option lacks important factors such as Convenience, Confidentiality of your documents and, above all, it is costly as time goes on - This you'll find out later.

Finally, my recommendation is for you to consider having the benefits of both - Purchase a low end, yet efficient 3-in-1 printer. Well, as said earlier, a low price that is just about the amount, plus a little more if you'll be printing, scanning at the shop. And, this will give you a clean, clear and stressless means of having your documents presentable.

Now the question is which printer can you get and where. I would suggest you do some Google search for online shops, get the price and head to local shops to buy. But, if you don't like stress, simply purchase online - what I did.

I got this fantastic printer off jumia, could be any online store just that they could deliver in 48hrs for the printer of choice and I was ok with the price. So ensure you do your proper window shopping. So, I got this all in one printer for around 13k, that can scan, print and photo copy, even print passport! And, guess what...it's has WiFi meaning I do all functions from my phone.

I think you should consider it; [copy-paste this on google>>> "pixma-ts3140" to view the printer. Please note I do not work for the seller nor the manufacturer and, neither do I earn a living from advertising the product. Recommendations are purely from my own experience. I am currently Post-ITA and, that is the option I am using for all my canny waka.

I hope this has been helpful, and I'll like to thank you for reading.

Am talking about, me my wife a kid 1yr and the nephew?
In total are we 3 or four?
The nephew doesn't bear my Surname as he is from my sister.

Please your response is very important please

Sure! - It is possible. - But you MUST LEGALLY ADOPT or claim legal adoption for him and he must be less than 18years prior to adoption and, he must not be more than 22years to add him to your profile as accompanying/dependent child.

You cannot count him as family member without the legal process. It has some complication also, but since you are out to do good, that shouldn't discourage you, rather, your love for the child should spur your desire to go all the way.

So, the good news is that there are people who have gone the route and successfully got PPR, as a matter of fact, one just got PPR lately - 30/11/19.

Can you do it?

This thing is very unpredictable because you don’t know the officer that will be in charge of your file.

Best of luck in this attempt, I hope to read your PPR story soon.

Also, on the side, thanks for the heads up regarding Mutual fund....Its a na na na na for me now! Still collating like the INEC result... grin grin grin

Neeri:
Hello Good people!
I've been a silent follower of this group and now I've finally caught this Canada Bug. grin . please I have some few questions. Gurus in the house I need your kind help.

I'm currently separated and the divorce proceedings in court but my passport bears my spouse name and since we're no longer together I would like to use my maiden name for my application and the passport will expire march next year .

I want to know if I can sit for my ielts exam with this passport bearing in mind that it will expire in march?

Secondly,
Is it possible to write the exam with my maiden name though I will present a passport which holds a different surname or should I just wait till next year when it expires and my divorce is finalised before I begin this process and also renew my passport?

I will be 35 April next year and from what I've read so far I loose points for birthdays and I'm worried.

Note:All documents are in my maiden name
Highest qualification is MSC.

Thank you for your kind responses.

Not a senior, however, I feel I can say a little.

In my opinion, I will advise you not to allow "another person" raggae spoil your blues.

That being said, I will say you should move on with your IELTS, this mostly isn't a cakewalk for many and demands a lot of time to read and ace. So, the earlier you begin, the better for you. You have more nuts to crack along the way and trust me this shouldn't be an issue for now.

Way forward:
You can proceed to apply for IELTS with the current passport, and when you are done with court proceedings and the divorce case, you simply do a name change just the same way you did when you tied the knut. Just remember that you wouldn't be needing the older name change any longer, rather your divorce certificate.

On the other hand, as always, I often tell people to do whatever makes them sleep well at night. Know that we may give you all the advises there is, but the final decision and choice rest SOLELY with you - i.e put your dis/advantage into the equation and pull it off. But remember at all times and in all your choice making that CRS isn't smiling, and this game of CRS score is all about the points. By next year you're already about to lose some points if you're 29/on borderline now. Therefore, truly it is really up to you.

My 2 CAD.

I hope this helpful, and I'll like to thank you for reading.

IELTS ME+MADAM = CRS@475

Presently: Gently waiting for Wednesday, so I can shout IT'S ITA, BABY!!!

Waiting for the golden ITA, come next draw.

Inasmuch as I feel excited about my ITA today, I equally want to encourage others who are still waiting for CRS to come down, also to those who are struggling with IELTS, one process or the other - PLEASE, NEVER GIVE UP! I had issues all over prior to ITA and I am still hoping for other criteria to be met, but trust me, the joy of having to read "We are pleased to confirm that we sent you an invitation to apply." overshadows all those stress. Keep it up, never give up, and always move forward. Best of luck guys.

And to my fellow ITA clinchers today, congratulations! Despite the HIGH CRS we still manage to scale through. Always remember that it is not by your power, rather MIRACLE still happens. We may not be the best out there, but obviously WE ARE THE LUCKY ONES!

I hope this inspires somebody, and I'll like to thank you for reading.

eolme:
Good evening all. I saw my IELTS result today and has left me down. LRWS 8.5,7.5,6.5,7.5. It was my first attempt. I am thinking of applying for remarking the writing but CRS very low even if it is raised to 7.0. I wasn't expecting this.

wow! that was a near-perfect score.

I can totally relate. You just have to suck it all in, cry if you must to, but remember to pick yourself UP, and MOVE ON! See I wrote 4 times, and each of it was dramatic with unforgettable emotional distress. Click to read my post on IELTS

I am telling you all these to make you know that someone is out there who completely understands what you're going through right now. As I often say - that anyone who writes IELTS once and pass, doesn't know what God/life has done for him/her.

Although I haven't witnessed the prevalent depressing phase of waiting for PPR however, I still strongly believe that the agony of re-seating for IELTS multiple times is killing. So, I will say you should see it as a bridge that must be crossed, a path that must be walked, and a fate you must overcome.

Now the moving ahead:
1. If you took the TEST at IDP - I will advise that if you have extra money, you can spare the 46K+ and wait out the outcome (Well it didn't work for me)
2. If you took the TEST at BC - I will advise you to COMPULSORILY dish out the 15K, after all "it is just 15K" wink grin and that's 3 times lesser than that of IDP with some change - every kobo counts!
Also, BC has higher rate of positive EOR compared to IDP - I am a witness (in my 2 tests at each, I applied for EOR for both of them, with different level of error/severity) - In fact, that of BC would never EVER have been upgraded if it was at IDP. I made just a WORD mistake and never was forgiven at IDP, whereas I wrote a totally different TA and yet got a 7.0 at BC.
3. Start writing back to back, do not relent, even before EOR is out i.e 2-21 day, I believe you should seat for a CDT during this period, just like me, your result may be out and positive with the CDT (5-7days) even before the EOR.

Then, if after the outcome of your EOR - hopefully, you get a refund, or you still aren't comfortable as many outcome usually are, try to use the CDT with BC and you'll thank me later - dare this only if you have a basic/elementary/primary school working knowledge of a simple computer operation e.g moving mouse, punching the keyboard, drag&drop, and of course clicking. grin grin grin

Moral of the story: NEVER GIVE UP, infact don't even think it - If this journey is truly what you want.

I hope this is helpful, and I like to thank you for reading.

Madam side:
She isn't the "heavy reading type", but somehow she always gets it done - as long as an exam is involved. Her first attempt was not very convincing, however, the Second which was her last, and enough to give us the maximum point as a "supporting striker" - 8.5, 7, 7, 7 - IDP - PDT. This only goes along to buttress the theory that "Females are better than their counterparts in the IELTS" test. Well, as always, that is left for you to contradict - I will be glad if you don't, anyways.

*MY GOLDEN TIPS AND LESSON LEARNED FROM THE IELTS*
- Do not have too many materials - you do not need them.
- Practice, Pray, Practice
- Just read to understand the exam structure, and what is required for just a week.
- Do not at any time underestimate the exam - You'll regret you did.
- Practice consistently for at least 6 weeks
- Never practice alone - i.e have someone review your work. I cannot tell you how much this changed everything.
- Try to identify your weaknesses and fight it to the last
- Pray, and sleep at the night leading to your exam.
- Just do whatever legal to ensure you get your desired score.
- The IELTS IDP Writing Module material is a MUST have - well written.
- Do not write above 300 words
- Lastly, should more than 50% of your total sentences have any error based on the 4 grading criteria - you'll hardly scale through to 7.0 - the main reason many are stuck at 6.5.
- Have enough time to proofread your Essay and Letter at least 4 times for each of the marking criteria before you submit.

PERSONAL OPINION ON WHERE/WHICH TO WRITE
*IDP Paper* - only if you have never used a computer or you're never comfortable working with one.
*IDP CDT* - They don't have CDT in Nigeria, so I cannot speak for their CDT abroad
*BC Paper* - I did not take their Paper DT, so I cannot speak for their PDT
*BC CDT* - This is new and should be considered, do not fret for the listening, you'll only have to type One Word for each question in both Section 1 and Section 4. Find the Video on Youtube so proper understanding of how it is being delivered.

OVERALL: Guys, I strongly believe, BC is using the CDT to entice people to switch to the computer system method of delivery. And, mind you, your result comes out int 5-7days. Just give your next attempt a trial with BC CDT, you'll be glad you did. Looking at my score you can easily see the difference, especially in the reading.

Guys, so that's it for me, it has been a learning experience for me not to believe the arm of flesh, as it is written in the Holy book that "the arm of flesh will fail you". Please do not rely on yourself alone, reach out to people, ask for prayers, and most importantly study/practice hard. Always remember that no man is an island.

I hope this write up inspires you to go for greatness, pursue your dream, and even beyond IELTS, help you to understand that "Miracle still happens." Keep fighting, keep hustling, and keep practicing, sooner than later, you'll be sharing your testimony.

Thank you all, and do have a wonderful journey to Canada.

TEST 3 - THE QUEST FOR A CHANGE - 31ST OCTOBER 2019 - BC - CDT - LAGOS
At this attempt, I had seen it all, including the writing, multiple appearances, re-marking, and grief. However, you won't give up, when what is down is too scary, that you cannot afford to stay down. So I decided, I will take a drastic decision to change the examiner, the test delivery, EOR cost, and even my orientation of the exam. This time I prepared only for the Writing module. I practice individually; the parts of an essay, paragraphs, and even the formation of sentences - just everything, afresh. I know I had to make this critical change for something new to happen since it is only madness to do the same thing repeatedly and expect a different result. So it's my pleasure to advise you against writing and correcting all by yourself. Please take a deep breath, swallow the pride, and simply accept you need help. Seek for someone, a tutor or a tool that can help you spot errors or grade your work to show you your weak areas.

Just to derail a little, I am a first-class double degree graduate. I had my Masters below 30 and all through BSc and MSc I never had an F, in fact, I had about 50 As in a total of 62 courses and my MSc is about 10As in 16 courses. And to buttress this, I never went for extra morals or tutorials or lessons. I often regard myself as a _LONE WOLF_, and rarely attend lectures. My lecturers hate me because I would miss class, get an 8/30 in the test but go-ahead to get a 65/70 in the exam, just to earn the A! That was my type of person, in fact, after seeing this 3rd attempt with 6.5, I told one of my guys that, "do you know my wife married me because she thought I was intelligent?", but I doubt if I am still who I thought I was. Guys, I was depressed!

So back to the main discussion, I quickly settled in for the CDT at BC and immediately de-taste the Listening section, because it felt difficult Listening, Typing and Looking at an ugly computer screen. Well, I did, and swiftly came the Reading module, this was a cakewalk, cause you do not have to type anything till the end. Our classic Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V works perfectly here. So all along I just lifted the text from the paragraph and pasted where it needed to be. Then, came the Writing Module, God knows I had prepared terrifically hard to crunch the writing should it be a "Discuss both views" as popularly expected, sadly, it wasn't - I was given the "Dis/Advantage" style, albeit, I struggled, but I felt beyond doubt that at worst, I deserved a 7.0. I wrote an elaborated essay that argued in support of "The need for employers to contact their employees at all times, even during holidays". Unless, the marker dislike my opinion, and emotions overshadowed his/her expertise, I still very much believed I wrote well. Although, I didn't have enough time to go through the 2nd time, however, the Grammar, TA, C/C, LR were quite ok, probably there were few punctuations misplacements, I cannot tell. Nonetheless, my humble plea is that, DO NOT WRITE BEYOND 300 WORDS. DO NOT WRITE TOO MUCH THAT YOU won't BE ABLE TO PROOFREAD THE ESSAY/LETTER ATLEAST 3 TIMES EACH.

The result was withheld for about 7 additional days. This was to aid them to carry out a Quality Control check on it. This usually happens if there is greater than or equal to 2 band score difference between any of the test module, in my case - 6.5<<>>8.5.

*RESULT 3: LRSW:::8.5, 8.5, 8, 6.5 - SAD, HAPPY - MIXED FEELINGS, FELT CHEATED. - REMARKED - UPGRADED W7.0

*TEST 4 - HURRIDLY RENEWED, REFRESHED, READY, AND THE FINAL - 21ST NOVEMBER 2019 - BC - CDT - LAGOS*
I will digress for the next two paragraphs. Firstly, when the result of the last test was released I was onboard on a Flight, and I quickly checked and burst to tears. I cried so much that I cannot remember when last I had that experience - I couldn't convince even myself I wasn't a failure. But, I told myself to move on, and I hoped for better days for me, my wife, and our kid. On landing, I hurried typed on the Tutor Fidelis WhatsApp group; the one thing that changed my story. Shortly after typing, I remember how each of the members came and sympathized with me, and this sent some cold chill down my spine. I for once felt the pains my colleagues during my college days felt when they failed. I was a failure, and I felt so.

Well, as we all know the downfall of a man is not the end of his life, so I picked the remaining broken pieces together, reach out to *@fidelism* - he owns and lectures IELTS writing, and we had a terrific negotiation - The crash course program. Though my schedule was too tight to be a good student as usual, however, I hope he can be proud of his achievement and that of mine in expatiating on the brief ideas he gave following the "Letter review". I was horrible in Task Achievement. I just "dey jabo, dey write wetin look sweet for my eyes", not essentially what is asked. PLEASE STICK TO PLAN - DO NOT WRITE TO SUIT YOURSELF, RATHER WRITE TO CONVINCE THE EXAMINER.

Now back to the main subject. The Test 4 is slightly confusing since I had a horrible day throughout the 24 hours. To begin with, my neighbor's car refused to start, and she parked directly behind mine, so it was a no-show for me to drive out. I just got my phone and no Uber/Taxify/OPay, and what have you on the phone. It wasn't just the time to download and begin the registration process since I was running late. This was the 3rd time her car had disappointed me - I was distraught. I dashed out, luckily found an OPay bike man, I hired him to the test venue, jump off and angrily went in for the Test. A young dude tried chatting me up, but this was not just that kind of day, I politely told him "hey, I am sorry, but I am not having the best of the moment. Please bear with me", the "bobo just face em front". Sadly, we'll spend the next 2hours 45 minute side-by-side as he was the next person to me all through the written modules. Lol.

Some module was tough, while others were as usual. First, the listening was easy but somehow twisted and I got confused, but manage to find my way as the audio progressed. Then, my favorite module - the Reading. This was relatively moderate but on average I would say it was difficult because many people would find it hard. Thirdly was the Writing - my headache. Well, I was well planned and had my guard on whichever style that would pop-up. So, I was given the "Good or Bad" style, my shoulders just dropped and I was like "Why nah?". Then, I quickly sucked it up and began writing. I typed about 289 words in 20mins including the brainstorming and writing. Well, I told myself this was it, I would stop right here. I had this plan of ~50, 90, 90, 30 words for paragraphs 1,2,3,4 respectively.

So, immediately I got above the estimated number of words for each paragraph, I ended it and moved to the next, regardless of my ideas left. This word management approach helped me in managing my time. The word count in CDT is a big plus why people should opt for this testing style. Also, I did a similar technique for the Task 1, i.e 40, 50, 50, 15, 10 per paragraph. After my Task 2, I read the text 4 times, each for the marking criteria - TA, CC, LR, GR/A, before I moved over to Task one. With 25 minutes to go, I began the Task 1, and I had this done in 12 minutes and used approximately 5minute to proofread in the same way as with Task 2. So, when I was done with the Task 2, and the Task 1, I was left with about 3 minutes and then as I was watching the Top-centered clock tick down, I decided to have a final look on my Task 2 again. And boom, a brother, has just written entirely different TA! wow! I knew it, I said! I have been having a horrible day, but this crowns it all up - "so these village people sabi this location, too?" grin shocked cry

As I read the question of Task 2 again, I noticed the question had asked to write on the importance of the question on Grandchildren despite the Question subject was on the importance of Grandparents in the upbringing of their children. Confusing right? undecided yeah, that's how I felt with 3 minutes to go. Hmmm, as a sharp guy, I quickly changed the last sentence in paragraphs 3 and 4 to somehow reflect that grandparents' benefitted from the impact of each body paragraph and in the long run in my conclusion. This was chaotic, and before I knew it, time ran out - Automatic Submit.

I wanted to hurry out and head home leaving the speaking module because immediately after the time elapsed, the feeling came back that, how about if the first time reading the question was actually correct, that the 2nd time reading was what was wrong, since, at both times, I only read the question good/bad once! DO NOT EVER READ YOUR QUESTION ONCE - NEVER! Please read the whole question at least three times before writing, even before the creation of ideas. This will aid your comprehension of the question, and this is the ultimate guide to achieving your desired TA.

Well, during my disgust with myself, I almost had a brawl with one of the proctors - I managed to comport myself accordingly. I left the room immediately and wanted to just go home, but they won't allow, that my valuables will be held in their custody till everyone finishes, so there was no sense in skipping the speaking module. Also, that I should just try and sit for the last module while I hope for "Miracle". They had felt I was in distress, and I needed to just go, thus they quickly arranged me for a quick session, although I still had to wait for about 2 hours before it was my turn. The speaking was in shambles, as I spoke rashly to the examiner, I cared less at this point, I just wanted the test to be over, and then go home to sleep - my surest dose to BAD TIMES. I remember the woman asked about my sad moments and the example I gave was how clueless I felt BC was, that they had to delay my result for 7 more days for Quality control checks when this was a CDT; In my head, I asked: "what possibly could they have thought happened during the Test". Ultimately, regardless of the two hours wait, I am truly grateful I did, at least now.

And yes, did I tell you that I also read the SAINT JOSEPH OF CUPERTINO Prayer days leading to the exam, and even at the exam, despite not being a Catholic. Well, you may say this doesn't work, I didn't believe it prior to my last exam also, but I had heard testimonies about it, and surely it won't hurt if I gave it a try, so I did. I was desperate, you may say, but in this journey, whatever you feel is legitimate, and would get you to your destination, please board that conveyor and get to where you want to be. So whether it's the spiritual side, or not, it is up to you to decide, for me, IT WORKED, AND IT IS A MIRACLE!

*RESULT 4: LRSW:::8, 8, 7.5, 7 - ECSTATIC, RELIEVED AND THINKING AHEAD.

Article titled:

IELTS - My Story

This is quite lengthy; if you want to have an astute view of what the IELTS hurdle means to an average Nigerian. Otherwise, simply just skip to the bottom for a succinct overview.

Today, it is no longer news that almost every meaningful Nigerian has lost touch with patriotism. This is undoubtedly a fallacy that only the less privilege hunger for - so we believed. However, the abrupt turn in people's reality is caused as a result of upheaval challenges the citizens experience such as an excruciating struggle for our commonwealth, unquenchable quest for our daily livelihood, and more importantly, the plea for our fundamental human rights. All these have led the most patriotic of us to doubt their continued allegiance to the Nigerian sovereignty.

The above simply means, "Nigeria's poor governance is the reason for a massive exodus of its citizens"

Abeg forget those grammar for IELTS grin grin grin, so my people...here the story goes...

I am going to solely talk about my IELTS ordeal, journey, lesson learned, and above all, testimony.

Well, I knew of this monster - IELTS, to be a major hurdle in this migration process, especially for the Express entry. Oya nah, as a sharp guy wey I "think" sey I be, I tell myself say guy, you have to study hard and ensure you make this thing "one-time o". No money for Lagos, no money for pocket. I jack the test for about a month. If nah material, hmmm I get them in LARGE QUANTITY...almost 50G of file size. abeg just forget that one. It's a must NEVER DO for anyone who truly wants to just pass and move on, and this I believe is what the majority of us will eventually do except if probably we intend lecturing IELTS, someday.

So, the large chunk of the file was first sorted from least important to most relevant. This took about a week of searching and skimming through each of the folders and documents downloaded online. After this, I realized that about 50% of these are outdated and mainly irrelevant or bogus for what the author claims it for. The sorting exercise took time since I had to consult almost everyone who I felt had even the slightest idea of IELTS. Finally, I came to a halt with about 5G size of the electronic document. These include files such as Video, Text, Transcript, Images, and Audio.

At the end of the exercise, about 2 weeks of the dedicated 30days had already elapsed with full course load to read. It became apparent that I had to consider extending the proposed test date, gladly I hadn't scheduled either had I paid when I came to this conclusion. I sat back and decided on a new date, this time, 8weeks ahead! Yes, that what I felt it will take to cover ALL of the materials I have - Wrong Motive.

Fast forward to the ending of the third week, I felt more buoyant and courage led me to commit date, and I opted for 27th of July, 2019. This was an appropriate time I thought, and surely, I should have been just ready to get an 8,8,8,8, so I thought, but what a life.

As the days go by, I knew the approach of reading it all would lead to no good, hence a swift change to a more relaxed method to get it all done. I hastily drafted out a plan to guide me. This plan was designed for recording exercises I had done, and the marks got. I recorded as many as I can and attempt as much as I deemed fit.

These days were running too fast, and it seemed the sun loved setting too quickly, so I felt much of the time. Well, here we are, and tomorrow is my first IELTS test. I had registered with IDP, got the location on google map, and then, all seemed set and ready to ace. At least now we both know better, that wishes are not horses neither are we going to see a unicorn any sooner.

When I got to the venue, it seemed to be the largest crowd I have seen in quite a long time. I hardly can remember any scene of such a throng of people, it was massive! I quickly settled in and followed all instructions as I have been told that this is crucial to me understanding IELTS procedures, and ultimately acing the test, so I complied accordingly.

TEST 1 - THE NOVICE ATTEMPT - 27 JULY 2019 - IDP - PAPER - LAGOS
Listening was quite dull, and like many who are not conversant with it, I simply "slept off". Well not literally, but because of its drudgery approach, I couldn't find anything fascinating about the talk, and while the lady speaker was at Question 26, I thought she had reached 30, so I simply turned the leaflet to the next page. I only knew that for the next few minutes she muttered and said a lot of gibberish stuff that I couldn't find relating to those MCQ I was looking at. I turned around, but everyone around me looked like zombies, neck struck out, eyes wide open with this black looking monologue ear puds - we call headphones. At this point, I "cucuma" close my eyes and "jejely" wait till I would hear "now you have come to the end of Section 4" so that I can just submit, however, I didn't know I was the one in a hurry to fail, and rightly so I got a 6.5 in Listening, surely, I didn't expect any better.

The Reading and other modules went well. I am a "fast reader", so I read all paragraphs quickly and finish in about 25Mins. Instead of going through my answers, I started thinking of when I will come for the next test. My fate was made with what happened during the listening, so I had lost the last hope left. Then came the monster, the Writing Module. At this period, I had already lost my balance so, I didn't concentrate when reading the questions to thoroughly understand what is required. And, my friends, please should you not read anything again after this, PLEASE READ YOUR IELTS QUESTIONS ESPECIALLY TASK 2 THOROUGHLY to know what you're required to write on. So, the written exam came to an end, with a cleaned and re-written paragraph 3 because the question said, Discuss both views, unfortunately, I wrote on support one side, so I had to wipe it off, and this left my booklet illegible for me to read what I had written in it, how much more to the eyes of an examiner. At this point, I knew what the whole TEST 1 was going to be.

RESULT 1: LRSW:::6.5, 7, 7, 6.5 - NOT SAD, NOT SHOKED, WELL DESERVED.

TEST 2 - THE REBOUNCE - 17 AUGUST 2019 - IDP - PAPER - LAGOS
I thought I had seen it all, so I gave myself just 2 weeks to dust it off, and re-seat for another test and boom! The money went down south. In this attempt, to be honest, I believed for once, I deserved to have aced the test and be done with it. But just as many would say, IELTS is not about your belief, rather it is about their beliefs, and so it was. I took the listening with my spouse, same day, same test, different result, and sadly, the same feeling. During the preparation phase, I used mainly Liz videos, E2, and did a few practices from Cambridge 11-14. Cambridge is my recommendation for Reading. Please do not waste your time on many materials, it is of no use. Although I made an unforgivable mistake of misspelling the word "innate" for "inane" - which means "silly" rather than "natural" - NEVER USE A VOCAB YOU DOUBT THE SPELLING, rather just express it in multiple words - You won't get an additional band for BIG VOCABULARY, so whatta?

As the story goes, we were informed that "we will get our result in 13 days", and yes, we did but this time, I felt I was cheated cause I had 8,7,7,6.5. Since it was "just" that little unforgivable misspelling. Spouse and I quickly decided to throw 46K+ away - just like that, within a twinkle of an eye. Well, the money was lost as EOR came back the same, after almost 17 days. This led to the delay in re-registering for another test. Because the Task 2 question asked was that I had seen and practiced before the test, and my output was re-checked only once before submitting, since I wrote too much to have enough time to go through it multiple times. This is another big mistake! Please do not for once think writing "novels" will get you a 7 or even 6.5. In fact, I wrote 259 exactly to get the eventual 7. Don't be surprised how I managed to get the exact number of words, I wrote using CDT at the 3rd and 4th attempts. The CDT shows you the number of words as you type - A huge advantage for those who take CDT.

RESULT 2: LRSW:::8, 7, 7, 6.5 - SAD, SHOKED, FELT CHEATED. - REMARKED - NO CHANGE - LOST 46K+

Please what can I do I tot my school sent my degree certificate along with my transcript, but now wes is asking for my degree certificate.

You need to send your Degree Certificate/SoR to WES; either by Postal [delayed&expensive] or via HelloFax [Free, easy&instant]

For HelloFax option see someone's comment on HOW TO;

How to use hellofax to send degree certificate to WES

1. Go to https://www.hellofax.com/
2. Create an account
3. Log in to your account
4. Click the Add File button
5. Browse to the folder where you have your degree certificate
6. Select your degree certificate
7. Click Open
8. Type the WES fax number (+1 416-972-9004) in the "Enter a fax" textbox
9. Click the Send button

Point to Note:
- You can write or type your WES reference number on a small piece of paper and attach to the top of your degree certificate.
- You can use TapScanner app on your phone to snap and change document to PDF before uploading on HelloFax.
- You may also consider SmallPDF website for merging PDF and for other pdf functionalities too.

I hope this is helpful.

Good day guys...I’m currently at the WES stage. My. School has sent my transcripts to WES via courier and I received a mail from Wes that they are waiting for verification from my school. I called the guy who is monitoring it on my behalf in my school (school staff) who said I will need to send money for the verification via courier service. Is the second verification supposed to be by email to Wes? Or by courier service? Seems the guy want to rip me. I attended National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Your responses will be appreciated.

You do not need to make any additional Payment.

Please call their NOUN TRANSCRIPT official number 0811-503-2088 to be sure and mind you, that number is all you need to get your Transcript issues resolved. I just got off call with them, they are very responsive and always ready to help. Contrast to the glorified "CONVENTIONAL UNIVERSITY" that i attended for Undergraduate study, where i was told that "replying to the verification EMAIL from WES via EMAIL is $50=N20,000 approx." JUST TO REPLY AN EMAIL shocked aside paying N27,000 for the initial payment for transcript processing. Also, i have to even tip someone there too, since they don't have an informative portal to give good guidance. Trust me, i am proud i went through NOUN for the M.Sc, its such a huge difference in positive light.

NB: I am writing this based on personal experience. Mine is Postgraduate Transcript, it was sent within two weeks and according to them, they replied within 3 days of receiving VERIFICATION Email and i did not make additional payment.

Dear elders, seniors, landlord, silent crew,

I am about registering for IELTS with IDP MOD, however, there are no available dates with CBT/iBT GT, only Paper based.

Has IDP MOD IELTS CBT/iBT GT stopped? or am i not doing something right?

Nonetheless, should Paper be my sole option, i intend going with the 27 July date, rather BC IBT.

Side Note:
I am the excessively anxious type, even more than Osazee007. I need your prayers, advice and kind words. Lord, please this time, once Only.

Having started this process in "incognitio" mode, tomorrow is another leap towards the covetous prize.

I am using this opportunity to wish everyone who would be taking the 27/07/2019 IELTS GT/AC tomorrow a very successful test, regardless of how subjective the word might seem, may our wishes come through. To those aiming for 8777, 8888, 9999 or whatever score you desire, i pray we all hit our target.

It is only normal to think the Test is easy or otherwise difficult, however, i have come to believe, it is indeed emotionally demanding but in as much as we are still in the quest for PPR nothing should bring us to our knees.

Please go with hope, prayers, and above all BELIEVE. Success is ours!

Does evaluating my BSc and MSc increase my score?

Unfortunately, NO. The Master degree has more points than the B.Sc, ECA point does not support point accumulation in this regard.

See the ECA rating as an hierarchical process, you do not get above the higher by adding the lower. For example, you do not get more points by adding your M.Sc to your PhD nor would your point increase just as asked in your scenario.

Your viable option is to increase on your IELTS score which adds gradual points on certain module increments. You can also consider taking TEF [French Test] which adds some useful points. Another instance in which you can add points is by having your spouse evaluate his/her Degrees and taking the IELTS test. The siblings point claiming is also another means that can aid to boost your points, however this option has limitation you need to adhere.

In conclusion, once you have an M.Sc, you previously stand a high possibility of ITA at almost all fortnightly draws. Nonetheless, we can only hope for a return of the past glorious days.

I hope this is helpful.

I have submitted a profile on 4th January and I got a message saying I am not eligible to apply for the express entry,
I registered for IELTS exam and scored overall band 6 LWRS 5.0, 6.0, 5.5, 6.5. I couldn't register successfully in their job bank since I need a job offer to boost my application because I didn't do credentials assessment. So I have paid cad$285 to International Credentials Assessment Service of Canada for my credentials assessment but they have not gotten my credentials yet for the assessment.

Please epp a brother

You're on the right track with the ECA, however, you'll need to improve on your IELTS Score, you'll need to get a minimum of LSRW:::8777. A tip is that you need to focus on majorly every aspect more importantly the Listening due to high band 8* and Writing due to its complexity and failure rate.

Your best bet for this escapade will be to ensure you thoroughly understand the process by going through page one of this thread. Spend QUALITY time there, probably days. Then return or do a catch up with the thread by reading through the pages.

There are many trivial details you'll need to know as you start, for example the acronyms, while you must get acquainted with other huge ones as you progress. By the way, don't you think you'll need to know in details about an adventure you want to invest MILLIONS OF NAIRA into. angry wink

Take your time to gather all information from page one and then ask specific/unique/complicated question. Also try to exhaust your search options. For example, you can do a "google site specific search" by typing for instance "site:nairaland.com" then your search phrase. Another search options is using the Nairaland search bar and ensure you select the right category for example Travels for search relating to this thread.

I hope this is helpful.

Feedback to those who might have same question later on.

I was able to get across to IDP MOD IELTS CENTER today via their Telephone Line;

09023201067, 09025756632, 09025850398

These numbers are available from 9am-4pm Mon.-Fri only.

The Test Center office only open on Saturday if its a Test day, available for test takers.

*IDP MOD affirmed they DO NOT offer Computer Based Test or Computer Delivered Test in Nigeria as at now.

Also for the record;

- You can pay without going to the bank or visiting their office.
- I paid via the Mobile Banking App (N68,000) and made unedited screenshot of the "Successful" notification as well the SMS alert.
- The screenshots including Identification Card/Int'l Passport and the Booking confirmation email was forward to their official email: info@ielts.ng
- Booking approved and confirmation of payment was done within 5 hours via email.
- Upon confirmation, the email also comes with a link to IELTS preparation resources/materials. - Recommended.

Note: BC offers CBT for IELTS GT.

I hope this is helpful.
