I wish they could have done a market survey before launch. Why the cap, if I am to pay N20000 and be limited to 5G.Why not unlimited download for taht amount? If they are interested in market volume they would have to review their package.Even MTN has increased from 3G to 5G for the monthly bundle at a cost of N8000, Multilink which used to have a cap on their 50 hours, 100 hours and 250 hours has removed the cap entirely. I expect the competition to become stiffer and prices lower, so Mobitel please review and see your customer base soar. I understand that Mobitel has spent over $70 million to provide 4G, but ROI will come over time and with a loyal satisfied customer base.

Hi all, have you heard of Mobitel's new package: 1MB/second N20000/month with a cap of 5Gig, 512Kb/second N10000/MONTH with a cap of 5Gig? This is their new service on 4G. Anyone tried it out yet? Modem costs N8000.

How is the old lady of the internet in Nigeria doing? Generally, I noticed that prices on all other networks are dropping while data packages are increasing. Also, the degree of flexibility of the packages on other networks is increasing, I wonder if Starcomms is thinking of compling with these market changes, otherwise their market share will continue to drop

Why can we not have unlimited usage with these GSMs like the CDMAs are giving? If MTN does this their customer base will swell to the skies
Computers / Re: Multilinks Cdma by webgenius(m): 6:50pm On Oct 17, 2010
@Youngster: why not try Zoom 1X 300 hours N10000 for two months end up as N170/ day or Multilinks 250 hours valid for 3 months end up as N110/day
Computers / Re: Zoom Internet Browsing by webgenius(m): 6:47pm On Oct 17, 2010
I am using Zoom 1X right now to send this reply. I have also used Zoomblast the broadband service of Zoom and what I consider the fastest service among all CDMAs. All networks have their down times, and you may have to consider a combination of two or more networks like I am doing right now for an average of N8000 per month, just use a little intelligence and you can smile all the time eg use zoom 1x and Multilinks 250 hours, average spending is N7800/month, use Multilinks to down load and zoom for general browsing. I am enjoying my combination.

Computers / Re: Starcomms Signs Up Main One Cable For Faster Internet Services by webgenius(m): 9:12pm On Aug 18, 2010
The govt and its agencies need to supplement the eforts of the cable companies. The NCC should undertake a project of linking the whole of Nigeria via fibre connection and complement the efforts of the intercontinentals. It should not be left to the ISPs to do as it would mean duplication of efforts and chaos. We need a national fibre network which will improve the last mile service to data users.

Phones / Re: Mtn Is The Most Useless Organisation In Nigeria? by webgenius(m): 8:10pm On Aug 04, 2010
Less endowed Zoom is offering the same promo everyday: use N50/day and make free calls to all zooms lines for that day.The hidden thing in the MTN new package is the cost of making calls outside the promo period.Read carefully, even Xtracool which is supposedly good has the highest call charges when used outside 12:30-4:30. I believe Nigerians deserve more than MTN is offering. I have a contract line, and pay N16 for on-net calls, N22 for off-net, why should I subscribe to this new package

@Siapaya: Just pray that it would be the worst night on the network when you borrow.Otherwise, if it is an unusual day then you may make a wrong decision

Hi all, Etisalat has hooked on to Main One.Wonder if there are early results on browsing experience for those on their Data plans. Starcomms had indicated interest in joining so can we expect better service from Starcomms?

Computers / Re: Zoom Internet Access - What Is Your Rating? by webgenius(m): 8:02pm On Jul 23, 2010
I did a comparism of the different packages and found that the PAYB 300 hours was best for me, 10000 naira 300 hours valid for 60 days( 2 months). It's better than PAYB 100 5000 NAIRA valid for 1 month or surfing plan where you pay 10000 for 1 month

had a similar experience, was using zoomblast for about a year.Realised that PHCN was not allowing me enjoy itand I decided to try PAYB, using 300 hours for 60 daysi.e. 150/month. Still trying this out, slower downloads however but saves N10000/MONTH
