The OP and mod who moved this to FP need some spanking and schooling. So, it's the same stolen car that was duped by estate agents? What an unlucky car! |
I'm sure if the statistics were extended to include sales of "Tokunbo" vs. "Nigerian-used", all indicators would show that even the sales of tokunbo has dropped significantly. The market for locally used cars is now booming like never before. When I went to Berger auto market in March to get my SUV (tokunbo), I spent about 8 hours looking around for a good choice before I eventually got one. One thing I observed was that throughout the 8 hours I spent walking around the whole market and pricing different options, I didn't come across a single person who was also pricing cars. If there were at all, that means they were too few going by the size of that market. That was when it dawned on me that the economy is really grimacing. |
Some Nigerians need to be enlightened on what "brand new" means when talking about cars. |

StudyCrestLtd:Forget nomenclature, what they did here isn't any different from what they do at rallies. Just a change of name, and it becomes hyped. |
dominique:I had the same question running through my mind. I know of the annual rally in Sagamu. The word "first ever" is thrown around in Nigeria with reckless abandon. Someone can just open a new private university today and still call it the "first ever" private university in Nigeria, just because there's freedom to do that. |
whizbee:Give that advice to your relatives! If your brain has been wired to hurl insults at people you don't agree with, that's a "talent" you should use on your close folks! And please, stay off my mention. |
Business for illegal miners! |
pimppimp:Camera or not, the truth is 200 people enjoyed the benefit of being operated for free. |
A stu.pid office that will start asking whistleblowers for its own commission before the whistle sound can be heard. A stu.pid office that will quickly contact the looters of "whistleblown" cash and demand bribe so that the whistle blown against them won't make a sound no matter how hard it's blown. For Nigeria, it is finished! |
Howla3:It's like you're high on skunk! You go about on different threads, asking people to contact the guys at blogdevelopers.net, even when the topic has nothing to do with blog development and related services. If you think spamming and lying are the ways to promote a business online, just know that people are smarter. |
UDOKABESTLUV:I beg to differ. I have hosted my highest-traffic site with them for three years now, and I've never had a single issue with them. I'm on their VPS plan, though, so I don't know if you're complaining about their shared hosting. But the truth is inmotionhosting.com can be expensive. They charge me $299 every 6 months. Thats $50 per month! |
tiwiex:You should have been honest enough to add that the link in your post is an affiliate link, and that you'd get a commission if anyone clicks on it and eventually buys a plan. That's the norm. |
infogenius:I guess you didn't understand my post. What I meant was that you shouldn't pay for 3 years at once. Of course, I've been using Hostgator since 2012, but I pay monthly and that's fine by me. Paying for more than one year at once isn't advisable, not because the hosting company might start offering crappy services, but because your needs might change. For example, your site might start pulling massive traffic and you'd need to get your own dedicated server, which Namecheap doesn't offer at the moment. |
PerfectlyPerfect:That's the plan I've been using with them since 2012. But I'm seriously considering moving all my sites to Namecheap. But as a note of warning, don't make the mistake of paying for any hosting service for 3 years at once. Anything can happen along the line, and getting a refund can be hard. |
PerfectlyPerfect:Don't you know most reviews you see online were written by shills? It's expectable because Hostgator pays between $50 and $125 per sale in affiliate commissions. That's more than enough to tempt anyone to go about painting a good picture of them. On the flip side, Namecheap pays crumbs in affiliate commissions, and that's why you won't find so many paid agents promoting them online. I use both, so I can tell which is better from personal experience. I'm not saying Hostgator is bad. Just that as of now, Namecheap is better. |
Namecheap is the best and cheapest I can recommend. I have 3 sites with them and about 6 with Hostgator. In terms of uptime and customer support, Namecheap wins. |
These bloggers like to overblow petty issues. When did mere lying down become a serious punishment as portrayed? I'm not surprised, though. Some indomie kids regard even daily house chores as brutal punishment. So, this, to them, is na.ked fatality. To those kids who see this as punishment, you'll enjoy yourself when you go for NYSC orientation drilling. |
Transform into human being? Is it a transformer? |
What shitty headline is this? How can a dead person "celebrate" his own posthumous birthday? |
akinjuly77:Users don't know what a URL is? Do you even know what you're talking about? It seems both you and John Mu are confused. I googled his name now and the results can only prove that he has no footing to give advice regarding SEO. Just Google Matt Cutts to see the difference. Well, you're free to choose whatever you like. But when you see keyword domain sites outranking yours later on, don't say you weren't told. Best of luck. |
Misplaced priorities. I guess that will make the university the best in Nigeria. |
Sapiosexuality:I actually checked your site, and I was marvelled by the length of your posts and the details they pack. But you can't make headway by blogging just your opinions. If only you've channelled the enthusiasm and energy expended on your posts into writing reviews on cheap mobile phones in Nigeria or other tech related topics that people are actively searching for, you should be generating thousands of daily visits by now. Mind you, those topics are just examples. Blogging for income is no longer about passion or about writing things that come to your mind. Like any other business, it's about supplying what there is demand for. That is, you need to start writing topics that people (Nigerians) are actively searching the web for. Topics like how to start various small businesses, how to travel abroad without stress, post-utme and admission updates, latest tech devices, and so on. Learning about keyword research and on-page optimization will help you understand how to figure out post topic ideas that will most likely pull traffic. To your first question. There are many ways to earn from a blog. But with regards to Adsense, you earn per click or per 1000 views (mille). But most advertisers favor the per-click option. |
akinjuly77:1. Slight boost in rankings for primary target keywords and related long-tails. 2. Increased click-through rates in SERPs (such domain names immediately reveal what the site is all about, and this prompts search engine users to favor them. Over time, increased CTR leads to better rankings.) 3. Increased website value. Check many of the niche sites that sell on Flippa. They are keyword domains. As I said earlier, these benefits don't come early, but they do. And if we even think of it, they are more memorable than brandable domains. It's easier to remember "cheaptecnophones.com" than "gbanjosmartphones.com". |
SoNature:Well, but most of those funny statements were falsely attributed to him. |
akinjuly77:He really goofed by saying "They never were". If they never were, what prompted the EMD algorithm update of 2012. Google that to read more about it. And I'm telling you my own based on personal and referred experience. Don't let anyone play mind games with you. Matt Cutts is the only Google expert whose words are taken as far as SEO is concerned. Who knows John Mu. Google "exact match domain update" or "EMD update", and you'll see that his statement (They never were) is crappy. Know also, that search engines and their top engineers deliberately play mind games just to discourage people from taking shortcuts. For example, they claimed that nofollow links have no SEO advantage, but many SEO experts have conducted practical experiments to prove that they actually boost rankings. SEO isn't about what someone somewhere says, bro. It's about what you've practically tested and found to work. If I were to have listened to everyone who claimed to be a guru, I wouldn't be where I am today as far as Internet marketing is concerned. I've gotten lots of great results by creatively breaking rules and going against norms. That's why I encourage people to join forums like Blackhatwor.ld. There, you'll find experts who are ready to share practical tips and give relevant answers based purely on real-life experience. And they show convincing proofs of what they do. |
deturla:I don't get your question. What did you mean by "virgin keywords"? |
axcer:OK. That's really low. You're probably blogging in a niche that attracts low-CPC ads or you're not floating the right ad types. |
So, in essence, if you can't get a keyword domain name, don't sweat over that. Just use something else. But if you can still find it available, use it. It doesn't hurt, and it comes with some long-term advantages. |
axcer:Wait, do you mean 0.10 or 0.01. Please clarify. |
akinjuly77:No real Google employee will give direct hints on what helps rankings or not. The only globally recognized Google expert in charge of SE rankings is Matt Cutts. Leave screenshots of private chats out of this. Practical experience is what matters. Besides, when I talk, I do based on experience. I have 2 niche sites presently ranking among top 3 for their respective keywords. Both are ahead of other sites that are slightly older and have more content. In addition, think randomly about any keyword that people build niche sites around and see the front page of Google results for that keyword. You'll see that for most keywords, you'll see at least one or two sites on the home page with the keyword in their URL. That's not coincidence. It speaks volumes! Finally, why do you think domain traders charge high for domain names with keywords in them? And why do you think buyers readily pay heavily to buy such keywords. If they have lost that advantage, they won't command such huge prices. I'm not saying you can't rank without having keywords in your domain name. And I'm not saying you will rank automatically if you have a keyword domain name. You can rank with any domain name if you offer quality content and attract quality backlinks. But when you have a keyword domain to add to that, you get a slight edge ahead. It might not be much of an impact, but it's a boost, anyway. |
