lekanwj: I recently discovered that I have been making a whole lots of SEO mistakes on my blog. Especially WhatsApp share and same topics for different posts. I no longer appear on google search like I use to. I am considering registering a new domain. Please advise nigerianbanker.com Google didn't ban your site. If Google bans a site, that site doesn't show up in Google index at all. I did a quick search on your URL, and I found that your site has many pages indexed. But, as you rightly stated, your on-page SEO is poor. Permalink structure isn't cool at all. And it's understandable why you'll struggle with the rankings henceforth. But you can still make amends, anyway. So, again, your site wasn't banned. What happened is that you lost your rankings for certain search queries because your on-page SEO is poor. And Google decided to favor sites that are better in that aspect. |

Unique32: It's been almost 3 years now It's possible that the site is appearing in Google, but not ranking prominently. Do a Google search for "site:yourdomainname.com". Replace "yourdomainname.com" with your site address and check the results. If some pages of your site show up in the results, that means your site is indexed. |

Jeremy24: Hello nairalanders, I had a small issue which has to do with Adsense payment.
So the question goes like this: I have a GTB bank account which is saving. But please can I use it for my Google Adsense to receive my payment.
But would be glad to hear from you guys. Thank you. Since yours is a Nigerian account, you have two options: Your first option is to use your local savings or current account. With this option, the bank would have converted your earnings for you and would credit your account with the Naira equivalent. But the sad part is that banks convert at official rates, which is presently around N305 to one dollar, I think. Your second option is to open a domiciliary account. With this option, you'd be able to collect your cash in dollars from the bank, and you can subsequently exchange it for naira at black market rates, which are presently between N355 and N360 to the dollar. So, if you receive $200 from Adsense, for example, the first option will fetch you N61,000, while the second option will fetch you at least N71,000. As you can see, the difference is clear. |

jamesibor: That's why earnings for 2015 and 2016 were abysmally low. Imports have picked up this year.
I know because I'm an importer and the records are there for anyone to access. Imports might have picked up in the sense that importers have started business again. But in terms of quantity, many haven't bounced back. For example, car dealers are still importing cars, but the quantity has reduced drastically. Not just because of dollar increase, but also because internal demand for goods is low. |
Business › Re: Customs Generates N1.01trillion Revenue, Exceeds N770.5bn Year Target By 24% by webincomeplus(m): 4:20pm On Dec 21, 2017 |
jamesibor: This is rather a poor performance considering that they generated above N900bn in 2014 when the dollar was at N155. Now that dollar has more than doubled, that earning should have at least been almost double since customs duty is paid as a percentage of the cost of import which is in dollars and then converted to naira using current exchange rate.
Poor performance all in all.
Zombies led by sarrki and seunmsg over to you. And you forgot that the increase in dollar price discouraged lots of import operations? |

lucarella: Dude go and rest. Why do you feel threatened by competition? I moved because I thought Nigerian digital marketers were mediocre and I was right. I run a full fledged digital marketing company and there's no aspect of digital marketing that I have not run or experienced. Mr Blogger! Blackhat?? You obviously are ignorant. Don't worry about losing your 'customers'. Keep feeding them nonsense and run out of business soon if you don't learn. Digital is changing!
I should get off your mentions? Was this thread created because of you? Frustrated local champion. Just so you know, I don't make money by teaching people SEO. And I don't do SEO for clients. I use my knowledge of SEO to rank my Adsense and affiliate niche sites, and I'm fine with that. Get that into your skunked up skull! You can continue your "full fledged digital marketing" brags for as long as you want. After all, on the web, anyone can claim anything. And thanks for reminding me that digital marketing is changing. Even dogs have heard that umpteen times! |

lucarella: I'm sorry you feel hurt. As knowledgeable as I am, I still have mentors that I learn from everyday. Don't let your ego blindfold you. You could be making more than the 400k alexa rankings that you have if only you're calm and listen. I achieved less than 500k in alexa with my clients websites (not blogs) as far back as 2012. And yes. First page in a week! But it's still unofficial and may be gone when Penguin gets updated.
What you don't know, you don't know. #Peace Please don't mix things up. I never said I have 400k Alexa rankings. Get your facts right; someone else said that. And it's obvious you're confused. My biggest site presently ranks 52k on Alexa. Even though Alexa ranking is a bulls.hit metric to some extent. Finally, whatever is likely to go during the next update is certainly blackhat. I don't do such. Even at that, I know you're lying. Continue! You can now swerve off my mention! |

lucarella: Lol. You are a mentor to people. Pay me the money to try me out because I'll do simple tricks that you even know of - then if I don't rank in a week, you get your money and bragging rights. Then you'll know your knowledge of sandbox was when Google decided to scare people from gaining unverified back links. If your new site can get crawled in a day, how much more ranking in a week. But of course, I only use it for training - as same with Google professionals. So if you're ready to be schooled, let me know. I hear you. Are we talking crawling here again? I can index a page in minutes! You said you could drive page one ranking in one week. Now, you're talking about something else. I see how you tried to dodge my challenge. I should pay you to prove yourself? What a demand! You're such a clown. Please stay off my mentions. I don't have time to waste replying you again. |

lucarella: Sanbox?? Lool! Do you also know that sandbox protocol has been bypassed many times? Like my mentors will say, you don't know something if you haven't tried it. Dude, you are seriously outdated. Please what are your websites? Let's openly do justice now. I will reveal my websites to someone who doesn't have his to show, and on a public forum? Oga, you can't bypass sandbox without using aged domains. That's why I said you can't achieve that with a fresh site. If you can, then I have a challenge for you. We will decide on a keyword. I'll provide you with a fresh domain and site. If you want content, I can provide that. Then do your so called magic and let's see. We'll update this thread as everything goes. Remember, your claim was to rank in a week. |

3html: No 1 is nonsense, he wrote that out of ignorance. Keyword remains the onion, remains what tells Google what you wrote. If it's useless Google won't lay much emphasis on it (bringing related searches at the bottom of search results) in fact that's where I concentrate on. Sir what can you say about amp I saw u activated it on your blog and I did that but my revenue decline by 50% AMP by default doesn't display adsense ads. I guess that's why you had a drop in revenue. If you want your AMP pages to show ads, you'll need to use a plugin. I can't remember the name of the one I'm using. |

Finstar: He doesn't like to write, but he has written a textbook on this thread alone. Seo experts I know usually have a site, where they have at least, 12 unique post that performs amazingly on search engine, to help prove to people and potential clients that they know what's up.
It's not about not liking to write, he has nothing to prove. Anyway, this is a faceless forum where anyone can claim whatever he wants.. If I saw that "I don't blog because I don't like to write part" earlier, I wouldn't have bothered to dignify him with a reply. If we tell him to provide screenshots of SEO results he has ever achieved now, will somebody not say I'm wicked? LOL! |
Webmasters › Re: 7 Truths About SEO That You Wont Be Told Anywhere Else by webincomeplus(m): 5:04pm On Dec 15, 2017 |
lucarella: You still don't understand. And you'll really need to learn. Not being too quick to respond. Synonyms are ranked for sites without keywords related to a particular niche. So when you search for a particular keyword, websites with the synonyms of those keywords can rank higher than your own website with the actual keyword - irrespective of your 'keyword optimization techniques'. Even though the websites aren't optimized. This is to tell you that keyword optimization isn't effective no more. You had first hand experience in this and you decided to optimize for synonyms? Really? How many synonyms can you possibly optimize for?
By the way, it's not bragging if you can back it up. I can make your page first page on Google in a week. Same thing I told your friend. You'll pay me to teach you. I still hold that keyword optimization still works like crazy. All you need is fix your main keyword phrase and sprinkle some synonyms, and Google will figure out the rest. You don't have to overdo things by trying to find and insert all possible synonyms. My decision to optimize for synonyms was to test the whole thing, and that was done 4 years ago. I've learnt the truth since then, but I'm amazed you're presenting that now as though it's something new. As for your claim to rank a page in a week. That's quite possible with any already existing site or old domain. You can't achieve that with a fresh domain or site. Ever heard of the Google "sandbox"? Finally, please keep the "pay me to teach you" offer. You can keep that for those who aren't in the know. My sites are presently ranking on Google front page for thousands of keywords cumulatively, including pages I just put up few weeks back. That should speak volumes! |
Webmasters › Re: 7 Truths About SEO That You Wont Be Told Anywhere Else by webincomeplus(m): 4:39pm On Dec 15, 2017 |
lucarella: Lol. Listen man. I have been on SEO since 2011, a CEO of one of the first Digital Marketing companies in the countries and one of the earliest Google Advertising Certified Professionals (I got certified first in 2011) and currently being mentored by one of the top 3 digital media professionals in the world. I believe I have a lot more experience than you in this. Just in case you didn't read well the first time, keyword optimization is dying - not dead. Not keywords are dying. Keywords provide the backbone for Google crawlers and researching on keywords to use is not optimization. How and where you make use of those keywords is Optimization - which Google has moved to simmer down. Keyword density, frequency, etc. are all optimization techniques that aren't effective no more.
In 2009/2010, with the Google Panda, if you wanted to rank for e.g greeting cards, all you needed to do was to insert greeting cards directly as many times as you could in a heading or a paragraph. Rename images/videos with greeting cards, create an embedded blog on greeting cards and watch rankings improve. Some people dedicated a page on their websites, wrote 'greeting cards' as many times as possible on that page and changed the font so that it becomes invisible just to rank.
But you forget now that synonyms and mis-spelt words are being identified and picked up by Google to rank for certain keywords. Or you didn't know that? Geo-location, previously visited websites, speed of website, mobile compatibility, domain name and backlinks are some factors that the Penguin uses to rank sites nowadays. There are websites with no description content that rank on Google now, how are they crawled? The synonyms and misspelt words part isn't new. I've had first hand experience with those since 2013, when I deliberately optimized for some synonyms and misspelt words. The results? I couldn't outrank the sites already ranking. That's when it dawned on me that Google understands synonyms and typo errors. So, nothing new about that, man. In fact, there's nothing new about geo-location and other stuffs you also mentioned. I've been leveraging the geo-targeting feature in Google Search Console for years now. And finally, it's not about how bragging about credentials that anyone can get or claim. All I know about SEO was learned through personal experiments - lots of them. So, I doubt if you're more experienced as you claimed. |
Webmasters › Re: 7 Truths About SEO That You Wont Be Told Anywhere Else by webincomeplus(m): 7:47am On Dec 15, 2017 |
I can only laugh at the first point. I wonder why people write like authorities about things they've not practically tested.
Without keywords, there's no way search engines will know what a page is all about. So, saying keyword research and optimization are dying is plain false.
My biggest successes in online business can be attributed to keyword research and optimization. So, you want me to believe that sh.it when I have practical experience and proof that indicates otherwise?
As far as SEO is concerned, nothing works except what works for you. And nothing sucks except what you've personally confirmed to be crap! Only testing can reveal SEO realities to you because the whole system is so fluid, and what works for someone else may not work for you and vice versa - - due to some underlying stuff that majority don't know jack about. |

Well, these are the same old tips that have been flogged to death everywhere on the web.
The only way to pull traffic and succeed as a blogger these days is to BE CREATIVELY UNIQUE.
When other entertainment blogs are posting the same shitty gossips that people have read on Linda Ikeji's blog, you'll stand out easily by publishing unique and well-researched stuffs like, "Which of these Nigerian celebrities has the most beautiful sitting room?" (You can replace "sitting room" with whatever assets that Nigerian celebrities readily flaunt online.) Learn from sites like Buzzfeed.
Similarly, if you're blogging about small businesses, rather than publish the same rehashed information on how to start certain businesses in Nigeria, take your time to interview someone who is really into the business and get some unique stuff from them. People will better appreciate practical and valuable information provided by experts. A headline like "Nigerian expert reveals how to start a poultry business with N100,000" will attract more visits than the same old "How to start a poultry business in Nigeria."
So, it's all about creativity. |
