PoliticsRe: Why Northerners Abandoned Tinubu To Support Atiku, Video by wegevv: 5:38pm On Feb 12, 2023
APC think they can deliver the worst government in the history of our great country and the northern people, who endured the most suffering during this time, will reward them with another term lol

They are in for a rude awakening. They should enjoy the online silence for now because the message on election day is going to be loud and clear <3
PoliticsRe: Two Options Before Yorubas: Win With Obi Or Lose With Tinubu by wegevv: 5:29pm On Feb 12, 2023
MrEverest:
Any smart political observer can easily tell you that Tinubu is technically out of the contest. Mathematically, he has little or no chance of winning the election. However, something curious is happening, the more Tinubu realizes he has lost out, the more he falls deeper into his ethnocentric moves and tribalism. Tinubu is cunningly trying to drag the Yorubas into his impending defeat.

This dangerous game Tinubu is playing will severely damage the image of Yorubas if they allow him. Already, some Nigerians actually see Yorubas are tribalistic in nature. This perception has been made worse by Tinubu's tribalism. If Tinubu is doing these based on love for his people, it would have been a little acceptable but we all know his charity has never been displayed at home. Flood has ravaged many parts of SW but Tinubu never intervened. Fire has destroyed markets in the SW but he never intervened. However, this same is always doling out hundreds of millions in the NW for victims of similar disasters!

When his people were lamenting of herdsmen attacks, he never sided with them but chose to side with the oppressors by asking "where are the cows?"

Today, having realized that those did all that for has abandoned him, he remembered he came from somewhere. Few educated Yorubas who understand the dangerous game Tinubu is playing, are trying to stop him but some other Yorubas are blind to it.

Should Tinubu succeed in using emotions to get majority of Yorubas on his side, and they mostly vote for him on election day. He would only succeed in causing severe reputational damage on Yorubas.

I will explain:

Forget about all the cheap rhetorics of Tinubu built Lagos, Tinubu built men etc. Majority actually know that all these are false. The truth of the matter is that Tinubu in his present state is the worst major presidential candidate in the history of Nigeria! Everything about Tinubu shows that such man has no business contesting for president.

Remember that Igbos once abandoned Ojukwu who was their son and very popular at that, to vote for Obasanjo, a Yoruba man! Likewise, Hausas once abandoned their son, Bashir Tofa to vote for Abiola, a yoruba man!

It's interesting to note that both Ojukwu and Tofa wasn't in this terrible state like Tinubu yet the Igbos and Hausas respectively voted for candidates who were Yorubas!

Should SW states end up voting for Tinubu or give him majority votes, and expectedly, Tinubu end up losing, other Nigerians will see them in unflattering terms. The reputational damage it will cause on Yorubas will be devastating.
Beautifully written. I’d advice you to ignore all these paid actors replying here. They’re just hustling. The economy is really bad thanks to APC so I don’t blame them.

You can’t give the people the worst federal government in the history of our great country and win an election. It’s impossible. Tinubu and APC will be humiliated.

Our Lagos Rally is supposed to be the mother of all rallies. So what went wrong?

On the onset when Peter Obi won the Labour Party presidential primaries we did a 1million man walk for him. We shut down surulere, ikeja, mile 2 and others....

My fellow Obidients refused to turn up to the TBS. What really went wrong.

Could it be that their were a chunk of undecided voters in our mist and now they have pitch tent with the ruling party.

Could it be that the sudden show of love by the lagos state government has won them over with their free transportation bus card, 10k Bank transfer and door to door foodstuffs freebies.?

Could it be that they have given Bola Tinubu sympathy votes because of his fight against his ruling government?

Could it be that they have decided to manage their oppressors rather than try out a new party that promises to move Nigeria from CONSUMPTION ECONOMY to PRODUCTION ECONOMY with its Candidate that is Corruption free?

As an OBIdient based in Benin City, I just can't fathom what really went wrong after watching the scanty turnout yesterday in lagos.

Yesterday I couldn't sleep very well. The feeling within me was like when Argentina defeated Nigeria in the under 21 finals years ago. The pictures and videos is making me feel depressed and defeated right now.

Atiku Abubakar of the PDP has successfully locked down the entire North East and North West. No wonder Wike is afraid to publicly endorsed Peter Obi. Because he is not seeing any light ahead of the tunnel on his candidacy.

If Bola Tinubu or Atiku Abubakar eventually wins the 25th February presidential elections against an upright man of the Labour Party Mr Peter Obi, I will weep for Nigeria and then concludes that Nigerians TRULY DESERVES THE KIND OF LEADERS THEY HAVE.
Those propaganda pics are directly paid for by Tinubu. Relax. Polls show there might not even be up to 20% of Nigerians that want APC to return to power. They have been rejected and are just hoping to use voter-suppression with nonsense like this, as well as vote-buying, vote-riggging and thuggery to get back into power.

But the will of the people is strong this year. You can’t deliver the worst federal government in the history of this great country and not expect a response.

PoliticsEkiti State Street Poll From Bantupage by wegevv(op): 7:14pm On Feb 10, 2023
Another street poll from the southwest. A scientific one this time by bantupage in Ekiti.

Please watch this video and tell me who you think the undisclosed people who are saying things like "only God will chose for us" are voting for grin

Mind you APC scored 31% to LP's 14% and there was a mammoth 44% undisclosed/undecided. If just 40% of these break Obi's way then he should easily get 25% here. And Ekiti is supposed to be one of Obi's weakest states in the SW.

The truth is everyone, including the APC fanboys here know that our citizens have completely rejected APC for giving us the worst federal government in our Country's history. They are hoping that their "structures", which is just a dog-whistle for thuggery, vote-buying and vote-rigging can give them the numbers they need to stay in power. You can even catch them admit as much in some of their comments. I won't quote anyone as to not embarrass them here lol

If you are obidient or atikulated do not be discouraged. There is likely no more than 10% of Nigerians that want to see APC return to power. Show up to the polls in two weeks and they will be humiliated. Our future leaders will get a clear message that this can never happen again

I wouldn't dispute this. This is most likely Ota area (and Ota is adjacent Lagos).

Like I said earlier, Obi will have significant vote in this Ota, Abeokuta, Ijebu and major urban areas in Ogun state. He'll also have the most vote with college educated electorate even outside this areas. Getting at least 25% here shouldn't be a problem.

PoliticsRe: ANAP Poll Has Been Right Since 2011, Why Should We Not Take Them Seriously Now? by wegevv: 3:55pm On Feb 10, 2023
ojoadeola:
This poll is for APC to lose

ANAP poll was right in its result but the calculation was faulty

From my personal analysis, All those in support of Peter Obi are not ashamed to say so. Thus, ANAP poll rightly captured those respondents.

If you have 'Undecided' and 'Refused to declare' in the same region as the percentage you gave to Peter Obi, then, it calls for a second guess or consideration that they may not be supporting Obi and may likely support the other opposition candidates.

So, I infer that if we share the percentage of refused or undecided evenly over the top three candidates, then, Obi is not in the position to win.

Recent polls suggest otherwise that Obi is losing steam and the other candidates are rising.

The current Naira Swap may be the final straw that may either shore up Obi's popularity or deflate his support base.

My postulation is that Crisis management will be a factor in this electioneering process.

My prediction
1. APC
2. PDP
3. LP
4. NNPP
5. SDP
If you think that the average Nigerian is buying the nonsense propaganda that you lot are posting here that the naira redesign mess is the fault of anyone else but APC then I have a bridge to sell to you. Good price I promise grin

PoliticsRe: Can Tinubu Win the North West? by wegevv: 10:57pm On Feb 09, 2023
Hopium:
You guys keep spewing this nonsense "northerners will vote their own" narrative.

Politics is about interest. Those NW states are controlled by APC, mostly. Buhari votes still exist in the states, if you agree or not.

The northern bigwigs who laboured to build APC won't just abandon it because Atiku is contesting. They also have what they want to gain. The structures (like it or not, it will forever be relevant in Nigeria politics) they've built for how long are there to serve them attain power too. It's why we see someone like El-Rufai playing the No. 10 role to support the presidency of Asiwaju. He was literally going head-to-head with Buhari and the alleged northern cabals.

APC controls most of the northern states. The big guys, governors, elder statemen, kingmakers, etc will do all they can to recapture the states for the party. It's these structures the next northern candidate will use to contest for next election when APC rotates power back to the north. Atiku's victory in these state doesn't pay them. At most they will deflect to PDP and become 2nd citizens. Many of these APC politicians see the party as their right; they will do all they can to preserve it.

Politics is not child's play. With all that's happening in Sokoto, ask yourself why their top guns in the state are deflecting to APC? If north will vote their own, why are they deflecting in sokoto, a pdp state ooo? Why did people like Wamako and Umarun Kwabo aligned with Asiwaju in sokoto if the north will vote their own?

A lot of you will learn your political lesson after this election.
This is complete nonsense. Losing the election doesn’t destroy the party or any structure. El-rufia or whoever can still contest for presidency in the next election or the one after that with APC.

PDP lost in 2015. They still have structure. Atiku is still contesting. And he has a decent chance of winning. I doubt El-rufia would lose any sleep if Tinubu loses. He’s just doing what he feels he has to do right now.

Anyway don’t let this distract us from the fact that we must reject the party that have given us the worst federal government in our country’s history. A narrow defeat will not be enough. The message needs to be loud and clear so that our future leaders can take heed.

Vote Obi, or literally anyone else but APC <3
PoliticsRe: Can OBI Win On First Ballot? by wegevv: 1:23pm On Feb 09, 2023
obailala:
From current projections, if OBI doesn't win on first ballot, it's almost certainly game-over!

The key reason OBI has a high chance today is because the votes in the north are shared by the other 3 top contenders. If there's a run-off, northern votes would no longer be shared.

If the run-off is between OBI and Tinubu, you'd agree with me that whilst the majority of the northern PDP voters may not necessarily like Tinubu, most would gravitate towards a Tinubu over an OBI (largely due to tribal / religious sentiments).

Similarly, if the run-off is between OBI and Atiku, with the distasteful intertribal aggression between the SE and SW, would OBI really be able to inherit Tinubu's south western votes? Would current APC supporters in the SW pick an OBI over an Atiku in a run-off?

However the case goes, I don't think a run-off will favour OBI. Whilst its important that OBI consolidates his votes in his strongholds, it's also imperative that he wins the election on first ballot.
You can't possibly know that. You are going off the common assumption that the core north will always vote against Obi and the SW will never fully support him. I actually feel the same way to an extent but you just never know. Here's a thread where Penguin2 asked a similar question to the north a while ago (before the primaries) https://www.nairaland.com/6942083/northerners-vote-igbo-man-president.

I have gone through the thread and found 4 northerners that responded (asanausana91, HarunaWest, FoolishBoy419 and QuotaSystem). Based on their recent comments 2 of them are now supporting Atiku, 1 is supporting Tinubu and the other is refusing to vote. Based on the same recent comments the two Atiku supporters seem to prefer Obi to Tinubu while the Tinubu supporter seems to prefer Atiku to Obi (I'm inferring from the recent post they can correct me if I'm wrong). Not exactly what you would expect right?

Anyway all of this is anecdotal. I hear what you're saying and agree with your points but I just don't believe "it's almost certainly game-over!" for Obi in a run-off. If Obi wins the popular vote with huge support from the youths but falls just short of the spread you have no idea what the reaction of the country will be. You think most Nigerians, even in the north, will just decide to give the presidency to Tinubu for example based on pre-conceived notions? I don't think it's that simple.

Even the reaction from politicians across the country and the political parties that lost would be uncertain. We don't know what NNPP will decide for instance.

Anyway let's watch and see. Personally I just hope APC are humiliated in this election. The message needs to be loud and clear so our future leaders can take heed.
