@Abagworo,
I actually forgot u r a member of the CPC. Its understandable that after going thru Buhari's systematic brainwash it becomes next to impossible to view any contest as capable of being fair. For the record, if i had to vote i'lld vote Rochas but i certainly do not believe Ohakim is a poor choice as he's being portrayed therefor i wont lose much sleep if he eventually won. That said, may the will of the people prevail.

I took one look at the list of Governors assumed to be the best performing in the country and I knew a list that included Chime, Akpabio and Oshiomhole certainly had to have Ohakim also.
Fact is Ohakim has done creditably well but failed to sell himself to his people. In his quest for development perhaps he overlooked the most critical factor in any endeavor - humans. Here was a Governor who got to power by sheer luck and his first projects were anti - people. The outright ban of motorbikes and the ruthless destruction of illegal structures all over the state put him in the bad book of the general populace add to that his run in with the revered Catholic church where he openly assaulted a Reverend Father, his crosscarpeting to the PDP,his penchant for deploying state security to intimidate opponents and other misdemeanors that clearly portrayed him as a pompous, untrustworthy and desperate politician and u'll begin to understand why a governor that has done creditably well is being ranked alongside dummys like Uduaghan, Akala and Orji. I'm sure he's smart enough to have learnt his lessons but in all, I cant help but give credit to the Imo people who have in their own 'inconclusive' way demonstrated the might of the people. Certainly which ever way this eventually sways(forget the conspiracy theories he still has serious support in the state), imo people wont fare badly cos even though Ohakim has got serious attitude problems, he's got goodworks to compensate ask Deltans what they have with Uduaghan.

@Gbawe,
You really think resorting to cheap blackmail, spreading false information and trying 2 whip up negative sentiments and hatred qualifies u to be a critic? think again. I'm so sick of waking up every day to read completely ridiculous tales on SR and having those same contrived stories moved over to NL and presented as facts by fatuous folks like u that pretend to be analytical and objective but all too often betrayed by the high level of Ignorance you display every time u open such dumb threads.
I certainly do not expect to make your 'Gracious' list -which is just as well cos you can save your flirtatious patronizing compliments for those it 'moistens' - but if u really were expecting to have a civil discussion, u should base your arguments on facts or at the very least some reasonable stories but certainly not some bullcrap fresh off the backside of Sowore.

@Gbawe
I was really hopin d end of d elections wld get folks like u 2 be objective and rid yourselves of the hatred of the president. Perhaps u're too far gone beyond redemption.
Its funny u chose an informed guess as a pointer to the authenticity of SR's claims when any sane deduction wld av arrived at the same conclusion. I'm no lawyer but its obvious a supplementary election wld av been d only way to wriggle out of the time constraint imposed by the constitution as the other option of declaring a winner had been effectively shut by the REC who had declared the election inconclusive. So y on earth r u calling SR geniuses for stating d obvious? Perhaps its cos they attributed it to one of their ubiquitous 'sources' right?
APGA gladly and willingly backed GEJ in his campaign so why wld they become his sworn enemy overnight when the likes of Oyo and Ogun, the last holds of the PDP in the entire SW were allowed to be overrun by Tinubu's ACN without a fight? If Ohakim is such a bosom friend wld it be so hard to compensate him with some ministerial position if he loses in his state? Why wld Gej rather choose to ruin a process he's already receiving accolades for midwifing? Your head na for fancy? u no dey use am think b4 u start to slander?

Politics › Re: Delta State Gubernatorial Elections by wesley80(m): 4:29pm On Apr 28, 2011
Sorry folks, but i share the views of Shallom1234. No doubt Uduaghan is nowhere near the likes of Fashola, Amaechi and Chime but truth is most of the deep hatred are being fuelled by Urhobos and Okada riders (who have neva 4given him for banning night riding and playing politics with daily ticket sales).
While there is still a lot of genuine desire for political change, most of it is down to the desire of the electorates to feel the strength of their electoral power. It is laughable and downright wicked when most Urhobos compare Uduaghan's 4yrs with Ibori's 8yrs and end up saying stuff like Ibori constructed link roads. I dare anyone to pick out one of those roads built by Ibori that is yet to b reconstructed. I can tell u 4 a fact that all those he built from Jakpa to Ekpan were completely reconstructed and those that were not, have ceased to be motorable roads. Fact is under 4yrs, Uduaghan has outdone Ibori's 8yrs and yet is facing the kind of opposition his predecessor never did which perhaps is understandable cos people seem to demand more nowadays from their govt. But my point is, incompetence get class and Ibori epitomized it. Uduaghan isnt doing great but he's way better than Ibori. Uduaghan has got the sympathy of other tribes in the state who r beginning to view the Urhobo's like we view our Northern brothers ( with a certain born to rule mentality)

Absolutely intriguing contest. Was in Owerri last week after about 4 years away and i have to say in terms of visible development and organisation, Ohakim has done extremely well. What most people seem to hate about him are his guts and pride which have diminished the trust people have on him and tilted opinion towards Rochas who is seen more as a potential man of the people. The zoning factor is something that however can not be ignored as the article points out, left for me I'll prefer Ohakim in power cos despite his misdemeanors, he does have a concrete plan and has been goin about it quite impressively.
Politics › Re: Buhari Blasts Can President, Says Oritsejafor Is Aso Rock’s Agent by wesley80(m): 11:56pm On Apr 25, 2011
I've always felt Buhari's choice of his spokesman was one of his deftest Political moves and every time he opens his mouth, he proves me right. I cant think of anyone more despicable, toxic or obnoxious as the ideological har lot called Odumakin.
While I'lld admit that Pastor Ayo's call was a bit off the mark judging by the usually conservative position CAN had always held in the past, But for Pete's sake; what da hell? How long r we goin to keep pretending this isnt about our Religion? This is the right time for Christians to assert themselves and call the bluff of Northern extremists and Pastor Ayo as the president of CAN is doing just that. A couple of days ago he was on a roundtable with islamic leaders jointly criticizing the riots so his calling for the obvious instigator to be prosecuted shouldnt be read as an affront on Islam - except perhaps u're impressed by the cheap rhetoric and blackmail of a shameless spokesman.
Pastor Ayo was elected thru a democratic process by Christian leaders probably tired of having soft talking-skullcap wearing presidents so if he's shaking things up a little then thats just as well. While i've neva been too comfortable with his closeness to the sits of political power, i find it inevitable for someone of his calibre and position. And about how well he has used his closeness to power, let his followers judge him on that, they r more informed than passers by like Odumakin, as for me i'm content knowing he's doing a good job as president of CAN.
Politics › Re: How Corps Members Were Forced To Rig Polls In Akwa Ibom by wesley80(m): 5:22pm On Apr 25, 2011
Crappy tale. Ever heard of a politician taking care of soldiers, and agents but ignoring those at the top of the 'food chain'(corp members)? I have friends in the corp that told me how they were 'handsomely appreciated' by party members in the West for overseeing a successful election during the last two elections how much more for those that had to manipulate an entire process!
Its one of two things, either the corp members arent telling the whole truth or this is a fabricated story from an opposition already certain of losing an election and getting ready to shout itself hoarse about rigging ala CPC. So take your pick.

@Pataki,
If i got u correctly, your reasoning is that while CPC supporters unleash terror on the populace burning, maiming and killing, their rebel leader should remain quiet and ignore a platform that Just might help quell the senselessness on the streets cos they rejected his campaign jingle? Seriously, u mean its rational payback to ignore NTA and allow his political stronghold burn and his name forever etched in infamy? Is that what you'lld do if u were in his shoes?
