montelik:Did u drink something u were not supposed to this morning? Where did i say it was Weza's or anyone else's fault? Abi u see me for your dream?. |
Hi Ayo, i'm currently processing something similar so show you're still 'alive' and lets talk about it. |
My heart was pounding as I watched karen and lucry fight, i was just praying Karen wldnt end up going too far and she almost did but Somehow managed not to cross the line. Her madness was sort of justified though considering what luclay did regardless of whether or not karen started it, it was luclay once again blowing things out of proportion and this time, karen was really hurt. She surprisingly regained her composure quickly in packing luclay's clothes back from the floor where she threw them and managing a smile but truth is she really did feel violated and it showed. Thot luclay was going to apologise after karen's little talk with him but his pride and perhaps the intrusion of that scheming and annoying fry called Weza wldnt let him. Nice to see karen really has a friend in Mumba though, she was the only one that tried to quell the fight when others chose to gloat. intrusion of that scheming and annoying fry called Weza wldnt let him. The ideal scenario come Sunday would be Wendull getting evicted and Felicia( I luv to see her and Weza settle their score after Weza called her a witch) being sent to Tails. unfortunately, chances are that Felicia wld be the one to end up evicted while Wendull (add the Zimbo effect to the fact that some girls just for the sake of wanting a cute face to fantasize about wld end up jacking up his total votes) would be the one heading to tails. All in all, i see these two bouncing come Sunday. BTW, I'm tired of hearing people complain about two people getting evicted from Tails while one leaves Heads, its called FATE! They all had equal chances of being in either house when they picked those coloured gloves on stage, if the rule says those with a certain colour wld end up having two HM evicted in a week while the other has just one - whether ultra boring or lively - then so be it. I'm tired of seeing people accuse biggie of bias when the rule is clear. |
KnowAll:Thanks a lot. Please help me shout this into @Gbawe's left ear, dont worry that should be the good one cos i've nearly shouted myself hoarse trying to communicate by speaking into his left ear! |
@Edo girl Thanks for such a brilliant take on the issue. I concur with u a 100% Gbawe:Luckily for u, I do not have the stomach for a fight so Goodluck with your unwarranted jibes. My whole point is and has always been that Iweala is an apostle of Western styled Economics as handed down by Western nations and prescribed by the Bretton Woods institutions (IMF & Worldbank) as she demonstrated with the Debt forgiveness episode which u and most of her followers hail as her biggest achievement while in office. An apostle of such Western styled Economics wldnt be best suited to man our Finance ministry IMO, and thats what I've been saying all along. Now have I made any sense YET to u yet again? Will u now choose to address the issue at hand instead of dwelling on inanities which seems to be a hobby of yours? |
Gbawe:Quote; "Why will you not ungraciously insult Okonjo Iweala , because of your bias, even when every Nigerian should concede , unequivocally , that she is the sort needed because of how she performed previously when called upon to serve her Nation." Bros, if your obviously bad case of selective amnesia has not gotten to u again u"d recognize the above as your very own words from your first post on this thread. Now if my argument was that Okonjo was not suitable for the job and u come up with a statement like that, what other rational inference was i or anyone that isnt clairvoyant like u supposed to draw? Its sickening that u wld reduce this whole argument to one coloured by ethnic or regional sentiments. If that were true then i firmly ought to be in support of Okonjo as her paternal hometown is comparatively, a stone throw away from mine. With all due respect, I think u should be the one "Getting lost"! |
Gbawe:My friend u r just yapping! I made it pretty clear in the second paragraph of my post u quoted that my comment had nothing to do with the person, accomplishment or integrity of the ex minister yet it is on those that u've chosen to base your entire rant on, so what happens to the little matter of Economics? Isnt that what this entire argument is supposed to be about? You must have a wicked sense of humour to have mentioned her Finance minister of the year award when u're aware Soludo won CBN Gov of the year while nearly half the banks in the country were on life support, awards are no biggie i tell u -ask Cecilia Ibru!. I do not wish to disparage her accomplishments in any way -no doubt she's a great achiever - but my whole argument is that she isnt the best for the Position considering her affiliations and economic leanings and i'm still waiting to hear your reasons for thinking she's best for the position. Lastly, I wonder what it is about Gej that turns u off so badly, why are u so eager to term his adminstration a failure barely a month into its life, why r u so desperate to pick on his person with the least opportunity u get? is your success dependent on his failure or is it just a favorite obsession of yours? Get a grip pls! , |
Mennnn Alex is in for it this week, not necessarily cos he fears being pummeled by Luclay but because it wld take nerves of steel to stay calm while Luclay pushes him to the very extreme with his rants. Danny didnt help matters by calling Alex a Judas to the hearing of the housemates when he was asked to throw his fuse. Interesting week this is going to be. Nice to see Karen's wide support base. |
rhymz:Really? Do you know what a Bretton woods controlled economy is? Would u support the annexation of your country by Western powers for economic gain? There's a reason Protectionism is a fundamental thrust in Development economics while Open market and minimal govt participation is the key policy thrust of Bretton woods prescribed economic policies. Be careful what you wish for. |
@Gbawe I do understand that it is a 'Nigerian thing' to be wowed by a public official that quits office -that is understandable- but what i find worrying is the tendency for someone that quits office to be assumed to be of high integrity even when you were not privy to the reasons or circumstances surrounding her resignation (all you know are pathetic assumptions and i stand corrected). This isnt about the personality of the ex minister so i'lld like to stay on course. What i find just as funny is that with you and most followers of the ex-minister, you all seem to point to the success of the debt forgiveness exercise as evidence of her success in office, an episode i believe was most unfortunate and tragic for our country, or how else would you describe the payment of a lumpsum of about $16b by a developing country overrun by poverty and inadequate infrastructure to western countries? The lesser i talk about this the better so let me move on. I do not know how much of Economics you know about but take it from me, Economics has got a lot more to do with ideology than anything else and once you've started down that road of laissez faire Bretton Woods economics, little else would make sense to you and i have no doubt this is where the ex minister's economic views are firmly anchored considering her previous track record. So the big question is; Are the solutions to the problems bedevilling our economy in the Bretton woods prescribed zero government participation and total privatization programmes? I do not think so and neither do i think an afficianado of those policies is best to man our finance ministry. |
Gbawe:Nice to see u back allbeit with guns blazing. I made my comment about the ex minister knowing fully well it was going to tick off a number of folks considering the cult following she enjoys amongst observers while also hoping it would get people like you to examine what she REALLY would be bringing to the table, pity that all you see is nothing but a pro-Gej stance (probably a case of my reputation getting ahead of me) but take it from me, this has got nothing to do with Gej but with my honest view on what's best for the economy. I'm on a mobile so pls permit me to break my replies. |
Yeah u right, he 'deserves' a place in my buttcrack! What would he do in govt? vanquish the blood of innocents on his head with more blood? |
I just hope its true. Better to have a novice than a Bretton woods stooge within our confines. |
^^^ Did you have to quote the entire post just to make an empty one-lined point? SMH. @ScreenDiva, Great and very refreshing write up. Karen just gave Otono one of those well deserved shut-your-mouth-and-be-a-man telling off. The issue apparently was Luclay's insecurities over his height which had been discussed by the girls but which Weza Seemed to have ratted out to Luclay. Luclay almost in tears -trust him- confronted Karen as soon as she came out but Karen would have non of it telling Luclay he should deal with his insecurities as he's not the only short man in the world lol! Weza is proving to be a cunny snake in the house and i foresee a bust up with karen pretty soon. |
pokur:My bad,so its my comprehensive ability thats the problem according to your ultra comprehensive brain right? So could u pls tell me what mallam Rufai was alluding to when he said and i quote: “There was no cabal, we created the myth to neutralise Turai”. Since ultra comprehension is your forte, Pray tell, Why was it once a chest thumping exercise to deny the existence of the cabal only to now turn around and admit the existence of same for the benefit of some article obviously written in bad faith? At one point it was fly to call the "Cabal" a myth but all of a sudden it is fondly remembered as existing during our dark days, so what has changed? let me guess: convenience!. So why should a man whose words change according to convenience be taken seriously? |
This is like comparing Pele and Maradona. One got all the accolades while the other won all hearts through his sublime skills on the pitch. Kanu was a great player no doubt but the player everyone in my generation wanted to play like was Okocha. Trophies and accolades aside, Okocha was far the bigger player. |
Quot "When what Segun Adeniyi calls 'the Yar'Adua cabal' held Nigeria to ransom, many objective voices from both sides of the Niger united to speak and march on the streets of Abuja and Lagos. Apart from murmurs in some quarters, the voices of reason and constitutionalism prevailed." I"m sure the ungrateful Cretin called Rufai neva bothered to read Segun Adeniyis piece on the VERDICT before opening his foul mouth. Excerpts: "While I never placed much premium on the “cabal” theory, a conversation on the day Architect Namadi Sambo was sworn-in as VP put the issue in its real perspective. As Governor of Kaduna State, anytime Sambo came to the villa, he always visited my office after seeing his childhood friend, then State Chief of Protocol (SCOP), Ambassador Ghali Umar and with that we became quite close. So when he was nominated to the position of VP, I decided to visit him the moment it was confirmed by the National Assembly. I met him at his new Akinola Aguda official residence but as I made to leave, he requested that I witness his inauguration. I joined the vehicle of Mr Isaiah Balat, (erstwhile Minister of State for Works and Housing under President Olusegun Obasanjo) where there were other important personalities. On the way to the villa, Balat asked: “Segun, this Cabal thing, were you really a member?” Before I could respond, Mr. Nasir el-Rufai (the big masquerade behind the Save Nigeria Group which played a prominent role in the media and civil society campaign that eventually culminated in the National Assembly making Jonathan the acting president) interjected: “There was no cabal, we created the myth to neutralise Turai”. While Balat and other people in the vehicle appeared shocked, I was not. The former FCT Minister explained how the idea of ‘cabal’ came into being as well as his understanding of the role played by former First Lady, Hajia Turai Yar’Adua and the different people whose names were frequently mentioned as being members. El-Rufai was right only to the extent that the myth of a ‘ cabal’ capturing power at a time Jonathan was effectively in charge was mere propaganda. , Complete article on thisday page. While I believe both men have lost most of their credibility, it is sickening to read such display of hypocrisy from a mallam who only became a vocal social critic when the tide turned against his region. |
Ermmm, sorry folks but I just couldnt help digging this up. I'm sure todays blast happened on the 17th somewhere in d world didnt it? Just asking sha. |
kenis:I no blame you sha, afterall some people done dey already say 'who be Michael Jackson' no be una fault. Millenium children. |
Seun:What could be foolish in keeping forex and jobs within your shores? Even if these buses are half the quality of imported ones and cost twice as much, they are still a good buy. People want decent means of transportation and are not necessarily seeking to shuttle in first grade Marcopolo buses, if shuttling decently and safely translates to saving your country's forex and keeping jobs within your shores, how does that equate foolishness?
BTW, Innoson assembles knockdown kits of Chinese buses, they don't build buses from scratch.
considering the fact that these buses could have been completed and shipped down our shores, forgive us for using the word 'built' instead of assembled. |
@OP Only a foool wld read this junk of an article to the end! |
I'm so hating Luclay right now, how could he have made such an issue of a scratch! And did i love the way Karen gave it to him? Men karen was on fire and really got back her pound of flesh from the he goat called Otono. Luclay is just an actor with an ego bigger than the big brother house. I hope everyone get to see him for what he really is - fake! |
moruphb:Karen may not be many things but you cannot accuse her of not being Naija. How can you accuse a Warri girl that speaks Urhobo fluently of not being Naija? Karen is more 9ja than any contestant i've seen on that show from this country. I cringed when she was introduced as one of 9ja's contestants and took an immediate dislike of her but she's succeeded in turning all that around with the excitement and drama she's brought to the show and I'm a huge fan - which is something for someone that cant be described as being anywhere close to being a 'looker'. She's definitely not loved by most housemates and has displayed bouts of insecurities that leave you wondering how far she can go, but she's about the only reason the show's worth watching and that's some achievement if you ask me. |
Pity that the essence and message of the writer has been shoved aside to discuss a mans supposed misdemeanor. The truth is Imo state is beginning very swiftly to rot and slide back to what it was in the pre Ohakim days while the entire state is doing no more than applauding. |
Andre Uweh:If you had taken an extra second to read the comment i was responding to, i'm sure you would've noticed there wasnt anything cultural in the posters comment as he sounded like Delta state was about to be the next frontier of Igbo conquest. Andre Uweh:This is like someone accusing u of not feeling comfortable whenever national unity or one Nigeria is mentioned. More like the proverbial 4 fingers pointing back at u each time u point one on someone. People have valid reasons for choosing to hang on to their small peculiar identities - you of all people should know that. My being Igbo is no reason to disocciate myself from my not-so-igbo environment neither does it mean i'll have to despise my unique ethnic attributes. Its human nature to hold on to what makes you unique and i expect a sensible Igbo man to understand that. |
maddock:I dont think you're quite right. The Aniocha's and co have always had the upper hand no doubt but you cant say the Ndokwa's have been denied their opportunities. At some point during the last dispensation, an Ndokwa town (name withheld lol) had her sons occupying the positions of Speaker of the state house of assembly, fed House of reps member, Commissioner of works, SSA to the governor, and had sons that had the ear of the governor like a renowned Prof and respected PDP elder as well as a retiredd Brig Gen who at some point was contesting the state's party chairmanship position. You'd be shocked that d same town (did i mention it is also an oil producing community) has no good road-a 4wd is a necessity not a luxury, no drinkable water except the Niger and other streams and the worst IMO, no electricity - not even connected to the national grid, While a gas plant a stones throw away evacuates over 400Mw of electricity which is stepped down in Obosi, Anambra state and fed into the national grid. And i forgot to add that the town in question is a Local govt. Headquarter! Now who do u blame in such a situation? Marginalisation or the community's political leaders? |
My nwanne from Ndokwa take am easy na anyi anaghi anu ogu. A chorom ka unu nwe state nke unu. Oburozi ihe unu choro?
Biko eweniwe. Kanyi hapu godu okwu Anioma state for now. monkeyleg:Lol, you know as e dey be for this forum na, sometimes first attack na the only way. I dont think Uduaghan stormed out cos he was unhappy with the Speaker but at the attitude of the clerk (however he chooses to justify it) Ochei's ascension was almost certain considering he's about the oldest member in the house from the north. This guy has been there for just too long not to be Uduaghans pal. As for commissioners, e be like say him dey wait for Johnny boy first but maybe b4 the end of this week we'll know them . |
What's the big deal about Ochei becoming the speaker anyway, the position has always been reserved for Delta north and if anything, it should worry you that the position is going to thesame class of unprincipled Delta North politicians whose only duty is to rubberstamp the will of the executive. From Oliseh Imegwu to Sam Obi and now Ochei, eachone is just as useless as the other.
The conquest is almost complete. It remains the seat of governor in Delta. By 2015, its either we have Anioma state by then or the governor seat. We already control Rivers state.
Dumb and ignorant statements like this are part of the reasons Delta Igbos have been repeatedly pushed into a corner in their state. Make no mistake about it, a future governor from the north of the state wld owe his allegiance to the state and as much as possible DISTANCE himself from groups as Ohaneze not cos he doesnt think he's Igbo but becos it is the right thing to do in an ethnically diverse state as Delta. Being seen to be sucking up to the will of another regionally dominant tribe would spell doom for Delta northerners. |
I'm just leaving Owerri and on my way out I met a huge crowd of youth protesting the cancellation of their jobs which apparently, they're yet to be paid salaries since they started working cos they've been on mandatory probation. Their chants; Rescue mission, Suicide Mission! They dont just want their monies but their jobs back. His decision to scrap these jobs I tell u isnt too popular. |
All I can say is, here we go again! The Indians currently own Ajaokuta and Delta steel company, how far have they been run? Dangote of all people again? Of course this time he'll put the nations interest ahead of making Forbes top 10 list. Can someone give me a reason to be optimistic about this privatization process? |
@Naijaking, The problem with you as with most self proclaimed 'technorats' is that you are so out of touch with the reality that is Nigeria today. Your views and opinions about economics have been irredeemably tainted and terribly skewed in favour of Western economic ideals and sophisticated market driven economies that have little or no connection with what obtains in Nigeria. The advanced economies of the west are efficient and aid the redistribution and allocation of resources and the KEY ingredient in these economies isnt the economic system but the PEOPLE. Their economy was developed around the people and took into cognizance their level of advancement educationally, materially and politically and evolved after numerous failed attempts. Applying these same principles to a developing country with 70% of her people living on less than a dollar a day, and mostly illiterate with no ability to assert themselves or challenge a persisting unfavorable economic situation translates to creating a gulf between the rich and the already very poor. Dont be fooled, the market is inefficient and self serving and would only allocate resources and means to those at the very top while the majority wld scrape the left overs. This is why the participation of the govt is imperative, the private sector and the existing system of resource allocation only reinforce each other and leaves out the key ingredient it ought to serve, the PEOPLE. Our economic situation is peculiar and the onus is on us to find a solution, yes we have failed in the past but we've also learned. We've got to break free from the current mental bondage and inferiority complex that makes us think the black man is incapable of digging himself out of his troubles. I rest my case. |
