Nigerian politics is still very much decided by party loyalties and allegiances. There's no way Fashola would have been chosen ahead of a respected PDP governor, not even if he'd embarked on a campaign of 'fresh air' proportions. If u can prove that Fashola has no interest in seeking higher office, then i'll agree he stood aside becos he wasnt interested. The stark truth is that, Fashola stood back because he stood NO CHANCE and he knew it. Deal with it! |
Governor Fashola was quoted recently during a public forum in Washington DC as saying and I quote 'the governors forum is now a competitive team and members try to out do the other in developin their states'. He further stated that 'there is now a strong peer review mechanism going round in the forum that energizes governors to be development conscious and work harder for their people' (its on this weeks Business world newspaper pg 28). So would Fashola really not be interested in the leadership of such a forum? I dont think so and neither have i read anything on this thread that wld make me think otherwise. Fashola is a smart man and knows how to pick his battles and knowing the forum is dominated by PDP Governors, probably chose to play it cool. Every politician that really wants to make a difference not just in his immediate environment has got to aspire to some sort of higher office or position of influence and that is what a forum like the Governors forum is, or have we forgotten the role they played during the Yaradua saga? Fashola is a good man that has done tremendously well, but pls lets not turn him to an all knowing n perfect 'Tin god' |
Jarus dey kampe. He didnt throw in the towel like "the other one" did. |
^^^ Yeah right. The benefit of a spare tire. |
Blacksta, You really just cant do without throwing something on GEJ can you? Since when did the famed cabal become Yar/Gej's? I thot one of them was clearly the victim? |
Any political programme after 7pm on Channels TV would be my favorite. I used to love Focus Nigeria with Gbenga Aruleba on AIT but nothing beats the young smartly dressed presenters on Channels TV. AIT Kinda reminds me too much of those days one had to sit thru the unending hours of NTA's incompetent and bland anchors. |
Funny how some peeps can actually eat away depression/sadness. As 4 me, my mouth/stomach are the first places to shut down when i'm low, there's just no way i can get them to coperate. Usually I just try to force out negative thots from my mind by watching my favorite movie, the 1960's Classic "its a wonderful world" or i just lie down and let my mind wander to better thots or do what i'm doin right now; get some distraction or maybe help online - actually, i'm feeling terribly low at the moment. Pity i cant get myself to pray. |
^^ It sure wasnt. |
^^^ Na your Papa be eediot. |
@Denzel U arent quite right cos for a business to justify an expense as a biz running cost it has got to pass the WREN test which is that; The asset was acquired WHOLLY for the biz It was a REASONABLE purchase It was bought EXCLUSIVELY for the biz and it was a NECESSARY purchase All four tests r required to be passed before a purchase can be allowed as part of running expenses and as such if this criteria were to be used, it wld be impossible to justify the purchase of 4 jets. Not like our tax authorities really wld care anyway. |
Violent, I go to church to fulfill a religious obligation not to practice a democracy. If I trust a Pastor well enuff to sit among his congregation at least once a week for a minimum of 3hrs, then I believe he's capable of managing whatever funds r in his care. Pity u have no clue as to how most big churches r run but for most there r structures and hierarchies and procedures. Whatever is the case, my obligation ends when i give, i have no business questioning how my money is spent, if i'm not comfortable with what i'm seeing i'm free to walk afterall dem no bury my placenta there. Religion isnt something meant to be rationalized, it is incomprehensible to the carnal man (woman) - of which we've got quite a number on this thread. |
Tax Churches? Based on what criteria? Profits, Returns Or donations? The terms u lot r using are sickening to say the least. Y are my hearing words like rip-off! Who's being ripped off? People PAY their tightes as a religious obligation not cos they r fooled into doin so. And why do u think the gullible foools keep goin back every month to pay even more tightes? You think there's nothing in it for them? For Christ's sake there r educated, civilised and prosperous people that r able to make rational decisions in churches and they give what they do cos they believe in it and it works for them (it sure does for me) these whole concept of churches being a get rich scam is dumb and malicious. Pastor Chris has got over a million followers on Twitter( dont take my word for it) and u guys expect him to be a poor man? Whatever these successful pastors have 2day, they've earned it a couple of years ago he was shouting himself hoarse around a university campus without even a bullhorn! Now he's got millions of followers across 5 continents and u expect him to be sitting crammed up in economy class? Seriously u lot need to get a life. |
@Violent, U know its actually funny hearing u guys criticize what u have absolutely no clue about. Anyway, i just read the article on SR so i kinda know where u're coming from. First u've got 2 understand that ones primary responsibility as a christian is not 'help the poor' but 'Spread the Gospel', helping the needy is just incidental. If u really want 2 know abt where church money is spent then the least u should do is dig a little. Pastor Chris 4 example has got 2 satellite Tv stations and various ministry arms with different responsibilities from catering for street children to distributing ministry materials in China. Spreading the gospel is a full time job. The Gospel might be free but it certainly doesnt come cheap. It is only ignorant folks that assume monies go straight into the pockets of pastors |
You guys really expect someone versed enough to pack out a 50000 seat auditorium to be a poor man? Sometimes i find it hard to believe u guys r supposed to be intelligent. Are there not orators and motivational speakers out there living the good life with much less than the followership these pastors command? Ok i get your flawed reasoning, pastors r supposed to poor, dirty and blind to living the good life because they serve God right? And What makes u think everyone attending a church is wretched and illiterate? Just cos u guys have a voice on a faceless forum does not mean you know any better than anyone walking the streets or sittin in churches so the least u can do is respect people beliefs. Giving, not just to the poor and needy but also to your 'man of God' is an integral part of many a Christians belief and the appropriateness of it is not something i think i can reason out with a bunch of Sardonic atheists. |
The only centre i know in Warri has their Office at Deco junction. its on the last floor of the 3 storey building housing Scholars Academy in deco junction. They are about as standard as you'll find in warri. |
She quit. Move on |
sted by: Chyz* ^^^Bullshit. It sounds like they are bytching out like always. The only people that have been bytching all over the place have been the self proclaimed Nairaland SAN's (Senior Advocates of Ndigbo) Chyz, Ezeuche and Onlytruth. You folks seriously need to get a grip. Your combined fussyness is defeating the cause you've arrogated to yourselves and is embarrassing to say the very least. |
Beaf na fine boy before sha. |
I'm beginning to feel priority attention should be paid to the SW in terms of job creation. With a little less education and allowed to do their stuff on the streets as against on cyberspace, the level of hatred and bigotry oozing out from these guys would make Almajiri's the least of our problems. |
All these Okada men rumour. OP shouldav attributed the gist to Sahara Reporters that way it wouldav been a lil bit more believable. |
Just got a Verizon Blackberry 9350(touchscreen) and i've run into a brickwall trying to get it to browse. I cant use my Etisalat on it cos according to their customer care, its not yet supported on their network so i go with my mtn and after having it configured, i subscribe to the weekly plan for a start and all seemed to have gone smoothly. However, on getting home and trying to browse, it connects pretty easily and the counter tells me the number of kilobytes being loaded but nothing appears on my screen even at the completion of the loading. The sites icon and title appears on top of the browser but my screen still stays blank (just white but not cos its bad). Not even the mtn homepage would display. The guy at the mtn shop thinks its my phone but i'm not all that convinced. I'm thinking of tryin a glo line on it but was wondering if anyone knows something that might help me. So is there anyone out there that can help me out? Anyone at all? I'lld be glad to supply any further info if u require any. Thanks |

Is it my eyes or did i just read a price tag of USD840billion? Ok let me take that as a typo. |
Funny u guys r questioning this but it obviously is just how it is. Just like I can call a fellow black "Nigger" and it wld be laughed off, it is no doubt offensive to have a white man use same word on a black in any context. I can call anyone a monkey but a white man using same word on a blackman wld mean a whole lot more than a friendly jibe no matter how lighthearted the occasion. I believe the society has drawn up these boundaries to prevent abuse and as such it should be respected, whoever crosses the line ought to be sori like the youngman was so I dont know what u lot r whining about. How wld u like to be cald a monkey when u step on a bus by a White folk and have him smile at u and say "just kiddin"? |
^^^ Yeah right. Serious folks with serious lives that want the best for Nigerians criticizing her leaders based on freshly digested horseshit from SR? Clap for yourself, O ye patriot. I dont hate u on d contrary, I (and I also believe most peeps on this forum) find your views quite refreshing and informative, so was kinda taken aback to see u open and defend a silly thread based on an obviously mischievious article by SR. I support Gej cos I think he's done reasonably well and if my stance were to change, it wld have 2 be for some cogent reason not some dumb article from a faceless news org. You my friend wld have to know what kind of stories to swallow and those to take with a pinch of salt if u're to fulfill your mission as a respected armchair critic. |
Awo was also a member. |
@Gbawe, Having a good bite of "humble pie" I see. Coming from someone who only a week ago was so doggedly defending a mischievious and completely senseless article by SR, I cant tell u how gratifying it is to see u attempt a volte-face. But while u were at it, one wldav expected u in your "gracious" manner to admit u were completely misled by just another dumb article from SR to accuse the President of already manipulating the electoral system to favour Ohakim. Meanwhile, enjoy your pie. |
This is so hilarious. I wonder y the OP is being insulted afterall its an open secret that the Owelle is a member of the incorporated fraternity. His membership neva stopped him from doin well as an individual so I hope he also does well as the Governor regardless of his religious affiliation but its only rational to deduce that Imo ppl might just have an Ogboni dominated cabinet. Now u know y Southern Nigeria is usually described as bein predominantly Xtian and Animist! Lol |
You'lld think after receiving so much they'lld be gracious enough to get off their backsides and do some real investigative journalism, instead all they do is sit and pull off ridiculous stories from their overheating bums. |
