^ Actually I didnt pick Chris Ohenhen over Adokiye, I only mentioned some other names we grew up hearing of. I remember Chris was still playing with Compostella in Spain while I was in secondary school but was never thought good enough by the national coaches. Since then he has openly expressed his support for apga and obiano instead of being a royal father and he even admitted it in this post. The inscription on the placard carried by the so called Onitsha youths and the fact that gov. Obi was the first to hail the monarchs anti-APC comments show that the whole saga has more to do with Anambra politics than direspect for the Onitsha traditional stool. I still think that Ngige should have shifted the event but the Obi of Onitsha whom i respect so much has greatly dissapointed me.

You must be a mowron to think a jeep can buy the conscience of Igwe Achebe, FYI Igwe Achebe worked and retired as a senior executive with Shell Nigeria and is not as hungry as you are to be impressed but an ordinary jeep.

Any honest person knows the so called ASUU members are responsible for most of the rot in the university system. What internal mechanism has ASUU put in place to curb lecturer excesses? How many ASUU members can swear they meet up 60% of their lecturing obligations? Instead what we have are lecturers that treat their lecturing jobs as their part - time job while they run around lookin for jobs in private uni's and other consultancy and research jobs. Virtually all Nigerian universities over the years have sordid tales of relentless sexual assaults by lecturers yet ASUU continues to act like Lecturers forcing female students to sleep with them is part of of tertiary schools curricular, I read somewhere how an American Professor was sacked for making a lewd remark at a female student while drunk, his offence was called 'sexual harassment'. When will our local pocket intellectuals realize their randiness is part of the rot in the system?
Th truth is funding is just a small part of the problem Nigerian universities face, the bulk of the problem lies with ASUU and her members and every sensible person knows it and this strike isnt over the education sector but lecturers supposed earned allowances.
By the way, ASUU just started sharing FG'S 30billion naira to lecturers which is about a years outstanding allowance to make the strike bearable for its members. In other words, you're suffering alone and the strike is set to last longer.

In any case there was a reason I adopted this particular writing style cos I felt it was the best way to narrate a singular encounter. I was deliberately careful not to stray outside the border of our discussion and I believe any discerning fellow should be able to arrive at a proper and informed conclusion given the facts as laid bare by you and the other fellow. One thing though I feel good about is that my post doesnt belly any form of deception. Furthermore I believe this is how it begins, one school pays, news spreads, others feel compelled and morality goes out the window. Whichever way you look at it, ASUU still remains culpable.

You touched on the major reason I started this thread; If indeed ASUU are fighting for the masses why are they disbursing a years allowance in the middle of a strike action? Doctors ordered a month's rest for Argentina's president on Saturday after they found blood on her brain due to a head injury.

President Cristina Fernandez's spokesman said she had suffered a previously undisclosed 'skull trauma' on August 12. No details about this injury were officially released Saturday night.

Spokesman Alfredo Scoccimarro read a statement signed by the president's doctors saying they did a CAT scan of her brain after the August head injury and found nothing wrong, and that afterward she suffered no symptoms.
But he said problems surfaced Saturday after Fernandez, 60, went to a hospital for checks on an irregular heartbeat. Because she was suffering headaches, they looked at her skull again, too, and found a subdural hematoma.


That means bleeding between the brain and the skull. The statement defined it as "chronic" and not 'acute,' which suggests that it has been slowly building.

'The president had a cardiovascular study done in the Fundacion Favaloro and given that she had head pain, they did neurological studies, diagnosing a "chronic subdural collection" (bleeding on the brain), and they ordered her to rest for a month,' said the statement, which was signed by the president's doctors. The statement added that her doctors will keep close watch on how the bleeding evolves using imaging technology.

According to the U.S. National Institutes of Health, the symptoms of chronic subdural collections usually do not heal by themselves and often require surgery that involves drilling small holes in the skull to drain the liquid, relieving pressure and to reduce or prevent brain damage.


Her spokesman did not address during his televised announcement whether Fernandez will try to keep managing the country herself from the presidential residence, or formally take medical leave and hand the government over to Vice President Amado Boudou, who was flying back to Argentina from Brazil Saturday night.

It's a hard time for Fernandez, a tireless campaigner, to disappear from Argentina's political scene.
