Ah, Reminds me of a certain proverb Chinua Achebe penned in one of his novels, about a fool who had too much to eat and drink, and challenged the gods to a duel. we'll see how Shekau's reign of terror will play out. Wonder if he gets high on living in suspense and fear for his life all the time |
A judge in Tennessee changed a 7-month-old boy's name to Martin from Messiah, saying the religious name was earned by one person and "that one person is Jesus Christ." Now, thats what i call respecting the name of the Lord! ![]() Source:http://news.yahoo.com/tenn-judge-changes-infants-name-messiah-215423538.html |

Pls, what do you mean by "the burden of procuring C of O is completely removed?" Has a global C of O been issued for the estate? What other fees are required (if any) apart from the cost of a plot? Thanks |
See, it simply means it doesnt take much to make us men happy and content. For the womenfolk, 40 things are not enough. The 40 stuff above are just preambles: the obvious things. What makes them happy cannot be summed up in one page. Funny thing is, those things shouldnt be straight up points. For example, take number 21: Be truthful. Really?? Being honest with your woman can put you in jeopardy. You cant be entirely truthful when you complement her on her looks. she would always feel there is a catch somewhere, no matter what you say. Bottom line: Apply wisdom. Ask God to help you do and say the right things, at the right time, at the right place, when she's in the right mood, at the right moment, in the right way, with the right facial expression on you, in the right manner, so help you God! |
It may be proof even thieves have consciences. Sure, they robbed a California non-profit group that helps sexual assault victims last Friday. But they ended up returning the stuff. And, judging by the kind note they left, they seemed to be really sorry about it. "I got chills when I saw the note," San Bernardino Sexual Assault Services Executive Director Candy Stallings told ABCNews.com. "I was teary eyed, and I had so many mixed emotions." "A police officer I was with at the time said they had never seen anything like this in the 20 years they were on the force," Stallings added. "We were shocked, completely shocked." Stallings said she received a phone call from her alarm company at 10:30 p.m. Friday informing her that the motion detectors at the group's office building had detected movement and that the alarm had gone off. "I headed down to the office and I was like, 'Oh, my goodness, this is going to be terrible,'" Stallings said. "We have never been broken into because we are very cautious and lock our doors all the time." Stallings headed down to the center, where she saw a San Bernardino police helicopter flying overhead. Police and a canine unit were investigating the break-in. Inside, she said, the building's telephone wires had been cut, its Internet connection was down and six computer towers, a laptop, speakers for the laptop, children's story books and 100 bags of small candy had been stolen. The investigation wrapped up around 2 a.m., Stallings said, so she returned home. But she heard again from police about two hours later. "I got a call from San Bernardino Police directly, who said, 'Candy, can you please come back down? We have some suspicious activity,'" she said. "And I was thinking to myself, 'This is too much. We are not going to recover from this.' "The officer who was monitoring the building after the robbery noticed a shopping cart in front of the door filled with what I initially thought were additional items," she added. But it turned out someone had returned the stolen items along with a note inside the laptop apologizing for the theft, San Bernardino Police Department Sgt. Vicki Cervantes told ABCNews.com. "When I looked inside the cart I thought, 'These are our items that they had taken before. This doesn't make any sense. Why would they bring it back?'" Stallings said. "And then, an officer found the note inside the laptop as he was taking fingerprints." The note read: "We had no idea what we were taking. Here is your stuff back. We hope that you guys can continue to make a difference in people's lives. God Bless." "I started thinking that even though I was upset with the damage they caused inside, because it was very costly, I just thought sometimes people make bad choices and it was compassion that brought those items back to us," she said. "I've been at this agency for 26 years and we have never ever had something that touched us like this." The following day, authorities realized the burglars had entered the building through a small hole in the roof, Cervantes said. "I couldn't visualize that our place had been burglarized by just a shopping cart, because it felt like it was much more sophisticated and no windows were broken," Stallings said. No suspects have been apprehended and the investigation is still ongoing, Cervantes said, adding that, although the items were returned, the thieves will be held accountable for their crime. "They still committed the crime and it is still considered a burglary," Cervantes said. "It doesn't negate that. There may be a lessened sentence, but the crime and charges are still the same." The San Bernardino Sexual Assault Services building is not clearly marked because the center wants people who enter to feel comfortable walking in without feeling like they are being judged, Stallings said. "Our building does not have our full name on it, so it is likely the thieves wouldn't know what we do here," Stallings said. "But when they found out, they obviously changed their minds and decided to return the stolen items." Stallings said she appreciated that the items were returned and wondered who the mystery thieves were and what prompted them to return the items. "Most of the time, individuals don't pay attention to services like sexual assault unless you've been touched by the crime, or received service yourself or have been in contact with someone who has been victimized," she said. "These individuals felt compelled to give back for some reason. And, of course, I don't know officially, but that's my gut feeling that they were close to the cause. It was a terrible night, but it ended in disbelief. We are thankful everything has been returned." Will be welcome if you can list the rest of those attributes here. Dont have to click a link to another one of those copy and paste blogs. |
May we find the strength and motivation to show an act of kindness everyday. Simple and kind gestures such as these will restore hope in a generation that seem doomed. |
MacLovington: .Hi, good people. Has there been any development since this last post? @ gabbytabby: Have you been able to come up with reasonably priced plots with good titles around there? pls, let us know. One for all... |
yemibadiru: Do u actually need sincerity, integrity and humility all in one person, then Gbenga of jelad ventures is the right person to talk to. felixmba: I listened to his advice, went to the parks and got a good bargain for my chrysler, gbenga God bless you sir.Interesting. More interesting that both of you registered on NL for the sole purpose of making these comments. BTW, i still await your response to my inquiry. Hope you didnt forget. |
It's simple enough, bro. Every car enthusiast knows that you gotta be familiar with a stick shift to be a real driver. i read a humorous article sometime ago, that to be considered a real gentleman, you have to be able to drive a manual tranny. Whats more, you are able to drive an auto tranny if you can drive a manual one, but you cant handle a manual tranny if you only learned to drive an auto. |
The wealthy man's mentality: If it doesn't yield returns, don't bother with it. Automobiles can be rightly viewed as liabilities, cos you only spend more money for fuel and maintenance once you acquire them. Since being mobile is a necessity, you just need something modest and practical. Now, let me squeeze out a little more mileage from my "old faithful" before it ends up in the scrap yard. |
Thanks, bro. What u displayed is a newer model. What i wanted is 2001/2002 model. I have seen this version i want now being presented as a Nissan Maxima. Nissan acquired a major deal with Infinity motor co. In fact, most of the ones you'll come across are Nissan (Maxima) with slight modification of the rear light, and in some cases, the front grille. |
Hmmm, would have helped my imagination if u had taken a short video of the moment. Dont know if i got a dirty mind or what, but i was half expecting you to say they actually tried to make love on the high table, before their parents stepped in and broke it up! ![]() |
Thanks for your prompt response to my enquiry, though u didnt specifically mention that you have a reliable auto mechanic in your team. Here is what i want: It's a 2001 Infinity i30, also presented as a Nissan Maxima. I want to be sure you have come across it at Cotonou, or u can check if it's available. Let me know the asking price + customs duty. Im aware of the fact that i need to be physically present to strike a bargain with the dealer. Pls, it's got to be very neat, and non accident-ed. Here's pics below. Im partial to silver coloured cars. Let me know your findings, and we'll take it up from there. Thanks
|
What if i'm coming without a mechanic? Do u have a knowledgeable personel who can ascertain the state of the vehicle? Confirm if the engine and auxillary components are in good shape? Thanks. |
Whoever considers the humongous woman in the last picture as sexy is sick. Have never been attracted to fat. Yeah, a little bit of flesh isn't bad. You dont need to look anorexic either. |
I came across this report in the punch newspaper this morning, July 10, 2013. Life can’t be more challenging when you consider the plight of jobless single mother of four, Mrs. Doyin Sangobowale, whose six-year-old baby girl has been diagnosed as having hole in the heart. The girl, Deborah Oluyisola, was born on June 13, 2007 but, as the mother says, her growth was retarded such that at four months, she was sickly and looked very much like a two-week old baby. Even now, the distraught mother says, Deborah sometimes has difficulty in breathing. When she was brought to The PUNCH office on Monday, the breathing problem was evident, as she breathes through the mouth, a situation that makes her leave her mouth open all the time. A child of her age should look appealing, but Deborah’s lips are dry and black, her tongue is also black, the eyes are reddish looking, while her fingertips are gradually becoming clubbed — a classic manifestation of the disorder. The mother discloses that unlike her peers who could run around endlessly, Deborah gets tired easily — a situation that has affected her performance in school. While her peers are already in primary one or two, Deborah’s teachers have kept her in Kindergarten 1 all because she cannot cope with the slightest rigour. Indeed, she only managed to stand up for a few minutes while this reporter took her photograph, as she was always stooping to relieve the stress that the exercise seemed to foist on her. At a point, she simply abandoned the photograph session and sat unceremoniously on the floor, playing away. For now, running from pillar to post has become a full-time occupation of the worried Sangobowale, who confesses to being at her wit’s end when it comes to sourcing funds for her toddler to undergo surgical correction of the defect, which the doctors say is the only way to save Deborah’s life. So far, Sangobowale has expended her paltry life’s savings on the various requisite drugs and medical examinations through which her daughter’s condition was diagnosed and is still being monitored. She says, “We have done several echocardiogram, X-ray and sundry other examinations, all of which confirmed that my daughter has a defective heart.” A letter dated April 8, 2013 and signed by the Consultant Paediatrician/Paediatric Cardiologist at the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Dr. A.A. Animashaun, states: “Re: Oluyisola Deborah, “The above-named is a known five-year-old patient of the Paediatrics Cardiology Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja. She is being managed as a case of congenital heart disease (tetralogy of fallot), who requires surgical correction of the defect. “It will cost an estimated sum of N1.6m, including travels.” For a jobless mother with an absentee husband, this is a tall order and she therefore appeals to kind-hearted Nigerians to come to the aid of her ailing daughter so that she can live a normal life. The Account Name is: Oluyisola Deborah Moyinoluwa Account Number: 3068890329 Bank name: First Bank Plc.
good job bro. tanx alot. awaiting more info. precious info like these ought to be on frontpage It's gonna make FP soon. Nice, useful info. Most homeowners are aware of these points. You just dont get the time to be present because other engagements, like work demand your time, or you might be overseas |
Might seem funny, but multiple landlords to a single building is quite common in Lagos and other southwestern states |
There is nothing wrong in negotiating the price first. Before you go to inspect the car, you should have made certain that the price is fair and within your budget. I mean, whats the use of traveling to inspect a car when you are not sure the seller will agree to what you are offering? It all boils down to people being honest with the car offered for sale, by admitting if it's got any issue(s) or not. In your own case, you wouldn't have bothered to commence on that journey if u felt that the price was too high, or ridiculously low. (The latter would make u think there is something wrong with the car, or that maybe it's a fraud) Right? |
Hmmm. Euromilion and i are in the same predicament. I live overseas, and i am very much interested in getting a parcel of land in this area. However, i am still monitoring these threads to see how things go. There's been much hype about Ibeju-lekki lately. Let's hope for a positive result on the gazette. |
sure, our government will make all their wrongdoings seem right, and come up with lame excuses for mind boggling things such as this. Whatever reasons they give for the pardon, the message they have given us is that high level corruption and stealing isn't so bad. So long as u got ur allies and cronies in power, anything goes. GEJ and his administration has done nothing but equipped Nigerians with stronger shock absorbers. Yes, nothing surprises us anymore. |
Pity no one takes this joker of a president seriously anymore. He'd lost his credibility a long time ago. |
This is a very useful piece. Thanks for this info. |
One scary phase of drunk driving is the "dutch courage" from alcohols. What you wont do when u're sober (over-speeding, for instance) becomes like second nature. U tend to take more risks. U feel invincible. The heady feeling one gets from driving at dangerous speed gets multiplied when u're intoxicated. Worse still, your reaction time slows considerably, your judgement gets impaired. Driving drunk is the perfect recipe for calamity! |
The first two men look like a father and son combo. This, obviously, is their means of earning a living, especially considering the age of the thief. |
pfii: Pls look for one evening school or adult education closest to you and polish this ur "Boko Haram bomb" english! It's brain damaging mehhnnn I almost had an epileptic fit, trying to read the topic. @ poster: Dont ever come back here to type stuff that could induce coma. Your grammar is in line for an award. It's the most horrible i have encountered in a long while. That first person to comment is in close pursuit of an award too! |
