Which province nomination (PNP) are you looking to apply to and what is your line of work?

Pppe:

Thanks a lot.

Is it because I'm ineligible that I was ranked 0?
Can increase in work experience alone fetch me additional 7 points?

How can nomination from PNP help here?

Hello Kaykaykay,

Please can you send me the link where you got this information?

You would make my day honestly if they will not be needing any more documentations.

Kaykaykay1:
Okay. Now it's clear why they need authorization. It is clearly stated that students traveling together with family do not need authorization

Thank you Paul4canada, I already have their birth certificates ready but this exemption letter to fly, does it mean it's different from authorization to travel and both must be handy?

Paul4canada:
Yes, Birth certificate was required and exemption letter to fly.

Hello Paul4canada

Thank you for this update.

I had actually suspected this may happen after I read a post from evergold about authorization letters.

I plan to travel on the 6th with my 3 kids but since theirs aren't study visas, I was worried they may not be allowed to fly. I've applied for this authorization letters but also worried that with the holiday and breaks, we may not beat the deadline. I'm honestly tired with all the back and forth.

Please, aside from their visas and authorization letter, was your wife asked to produce any other documents for your daughter?

Paul4canada:
My wife and daughter not allowed to fly to Canada via Lufthansa yesterday.
Please learn from my mistake.
My wife was cleared after presenting several documents, Eg. A valid job offer in Canada, while my daughter was not allowed to fly, an infant of 3 yrs old. SOWP visa application was made to together with my kid application, upon approval, my wife Visa annotated as Worker, while my daughter's Visa annotated Visitor.
Due to his annotation, my daughter's was not allowed to fly. Visitors are not allowed to come to Canada.

We spent over 4 hours explaining that they are not coming as a visitor, the kid is a dependent.
Lesson, Make sure u get all requirements on ground like a JOB offer, spouse Pay Subs, Accommodation, Copy of husband permit, exemption to fly letter, Authorization letter ( Apply 14 days earlier before departure) ArriveCan App, etc.

Hello Evergold,

Thank you for this very useful information. After sending out the email, do you have any idea how long the process will take or if any other thing needs to be done? I saw something about raising a webform but it wasn't very clear to me.

evergold:

They will need a written authorisation

Hello Reb,

Thank God for journey mercies.

What did you use as proof of enrollment? Will my course schedule/timetable suffice?

rebecausoro:
Complete landing gist

I flew from Uyo to Lagos on Tuesday evening and I stayed with a family friend for the night. I arrived the airport around 10am for a flight of 1.40pm. I thought I was early until I saw the queue. Quick tip: even if your flight is for 6pm, get to the airport around 12pm and stay there till they are ready for you cheesy.

Ethiopian airlines usually do manual verifications of all students travelling to Canada. You really need to be there on time for this because the man doing it is slow and doesn't care about your time. He asked for proof of enrollment, admission letter, ArriveCAN slip, and visa page. Please make at least two copies of all of these too. After showing him, he'll snap and then send to someone via WhatsApp to verify. Once confirmed, your passport will be given a number and you'll then proceed to where it will be scanned again for secondary verification. After this stage, you will then go to where you can get a boarding pass.

The plane left Lagos around 2pm. I was seated at the back and had space to stretch legs smiley. We got to Addis Ababa around 7pm (Nigeria time) and then we entered a long queue for onward movement. From Addis Ababa, we went to Dublin for refueling and then to Toronto. Upon arrival, we talk a long walk (very long o) and got to immigration people. The woman that attended to me asked for these (in the following order):
1. Declaration slip (will be given to you in the airplane)
2. Passport
3. LOI
4. Student Status letter (enrolment letter)
5. School fees/tuition receipt
6. ArriveCAN page (apparently, I didn't even fill my own well and was delayed for a while. Make sure you fill yours well)
7. POF
8. LOA

She asked me the following:
Which department were you admitted into?
Why did you choose MUN?
What is your name?

Then she took my finger prints and issued me a Study Permit for 3 years (my program is for 2 years but I don't know why it was issued in excess).

I went to wait board a St John's flight after a long wait at the airport. Got to St. John without qualms. Reach my apartment, checked in and slept off.

Exams start on Monday. Canada is beautiful and nice. I love the place. Good luck to all who are applying or will soon come.

It has ended in praises.

Hello Insanity,

... and anybody that did a 2-way courier and have their passport back.

Did you fill the VFS online consent form for passport return?

I did a 2-way delivery and got email to fill the consent form. Will my passport still be returned without me filling and sending back their consent form?

Insanity:

I enveloped all the documents below and sent to

Visa Application Centre
Sterling Bank Plaza, 3rd Floor
Plot No 1083, Mohammadu Buhari Way,Central Business District
Abuja
Nigeria

Documents:
-2 duly signed consent form.
-2 copies of passport data page
-Passport Request Letter
-Yellow biometric slip
-Receipt of payment of transmission fee N7430 or so( you pay this fee if you didn't capture biometrics at Abuja VFS)
-A paper with your contact details: name, phone number, email address, home address.

Pay the transmission fee to
Canada Logistics Collection Account
Sterling Bank Plc
0065165839

Disclaimer: please confirm the account details before any transaction.

I sent via DHL 2-way courier and it's going in good pace compared to Lagos VFS.

Thank you Insanity for responding, I had done that earlier. Unfortunately, I found just a list of suggested items to take along but not a list of prohibited food items which is what I need.

Insanity:

Check the Living in Canada thread for more info on this.

Thank you at Dampops for this post.

Do you or anyone else have a link to the list of unallowed foods?

I've checked countless times but didn't find it. I don't want to waste money to buy something that will eventually be thrown away.

Thank you.

Thanks alot for this.

I would love to be part of the Settling in Canada group and the women's group too.

Now, I'm getting more excited .

katyamizotta:

hi there, there is a "settling in canada" newcomers (all of Canada)group if you are yet to land. But you need to be in Ottawa and have a verifiable address (even if it is an airbnb) to be in the "Nigerians in ottawa" group

Good choice. You will love it here in Ottawa. Massive supportive Nigerian population. If you decide to wait till you arrive send me a message and I will let an admin know so you can get an invite link. and then if you want we have a women's forum where you can get lots of information about helping your kids settle in, Nigerian food stuff/marketplace and cargoing stuff to and from Nigeria.

Hello UBCcookies,

Which city did you send your parcel from and how much did it cost you?

UBCcookies:
For the record people, UPS is way cheaper than DHL.
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Whispering: 4:58pm On Nov 13, 2020
Thank you Japh11 for your response.

Additionally, did you also send this new consent form to them (VFS) before they mailed your parcel back to you?

Japh11:

Track your return parcel to check if they have received it. I also paid for two way courier and I have been tracking it . It showed that they've collected my passport and it's on transit to me. They do honour two way courier dont pay any extra in-house fee if you did a two way courier. If peradventure your passport is ready and it hasn't been picked up. Do well to contact the courier service you used.

Hello Rebecca,

Is this money for everyone regardless of, if you paid for a 2-way delivery or it is specifically for those that did one way courier service?

rebecausoro:

It is a flat rate and I think they've even increased it to N12,500. That's what is on their website.

In preparation to send out the passport, I'm guessing we have to pay the transmission fee for the kids as their biometrics wasn't captured.

Please correct me if I'm wrong

Congratulations on your BVL and hopefully the PPR. Can you please post the Beijing address that you sent your enquiry to?

Those who are waiting for decisions should send webforms to the Beijing office. I did that last week. I sent like 3 sef. You can never tell.
