PoliticsRe: I Regret Being A Part Of Nigeria’s Failed System — Jega by Whoube99(f): 7:27am On May 25, 2021
akelicious:
Former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, has expressed regret that he was part of a system that failed to produce good leadership in the country.
Jega who was in charge as INEC boss when Buhari emerged as winner of a controversial 2015 presidential election in the country, said that Nigeria cannot continue to allow bad people to govern or misgovern them any more.

Speaking during the inauguration of a 35-man People’s Redemption Party (PRP) Policy Advisory Committee (PPAC), in Abuja, he said the country needs serious political cleansing which would also require every Nigerian to not repeat past mistakes.

I believe that all Nigerians can no longer sit on the fence as everybody needs to contribute to the cleansing of politics in Nigeria. There should be no fence-sitters; our future is at stake. We cannot allow bad people to continue to govern us or misgovern us and continue to wreck our country and its future,” he said.

The former INEC boss previously said every Nigerian deserves a better life and it is the government’s responsibility to ensure that. He advised that if it becomes clear that leaders in the country are unable to improve the lives of the people, they have no reason to be in power.

Jega who made the statement during a lecture organized by the Hudaibiyya Centre held at the Aminu Kano College of Legal and Islamic Studies in Kano, said it was unfortunate that leaders’ nonchalant attitude to the masses woes thrive in Nigeria, ‘‘whereas these are what other nations have been fighting to erase from their system. If a leader fails, it is up to the public to ensure that they vote them out”.

Jega added that there is an urgent need for the Buhari-led administration to come up with measures that would address insecurity and instability in various sectors of the nation.

Another person to similarly express regrets over the current leadership failure in the country, is former Sports minister, Solomon Dalung. Dalung who served under the Buhari administration, expressed regrets that the government under which he once served, has failed the Nigerian people.

Dalung who made the statement in an interview with BBC Hausa, said despite having worked with the Buhari government during his first term in office, and is still a card carrying member of the APC, he is not afraid to speak truth to power.

He said the current state of the nation is frightening as Nigerians are forced to seek alternative means of survival in their own country as government doesn’t exist.

He said, “In the north, if you are a Muslim and you want to travel, you must pray, fast for days before embarking on the journey. If you are Christian and you want to travel, you must fast and pray for days before you travel.

Even if the journey is successful, you will still go to the hospital because of high blood pressure arising from fear during the journey. We have never experienced this kind of situation. Imagine in the north, before you go to your farm, you will have to pay gunmen to allow you farm. If you want to harvest your farm produced, you will still have to pay gunmen before they allow you to harvest.

Former Governor James Ibori of Delta State has completed the Harvard Business School Online Certificate Program in Sustainable Business Strategy, Igbere TV reports.

The 61-year-old Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain shared a picture of his certificate dated May 20, 2020 on social media on Monday.

According to the school,

Ibori was Delta governor from 1999 to 2007.

He was sentenced to 13 years in prison by a London court in 2012 after pleading guilty to money laundering charges.

He was released from prison in December 2016 after serving four of the 13 years to which he was sentenced.

The United Kingdom is in the process of returning £4.2million (about N2.4billion) stolen by the ex-governor and his associates to Nigeria.

PoliticsOne Day Holiday For The Military by Whoube99(op): 2:00pm On May 24, 2021
Can anyone remind me of any Country in the world where an hour holiday has ever been declared for it militaryhuh
Why would the unthinkable always happen in this Countryhuh
What purpose is the one day work free day for the military hope to achievehuh
Is the holiday suppose to serve as a moral boaster to member of the armed forceshuh
Whoever came up with such a weird idea, didn't know what he or she was doing.
The holiday for all intent & purposes, will rather dampened the already low morale of the military, as their love ones would have seized the one day break to discourage them from giving their best in the defence of the Country in view of some very recent event, where dying officers could not be honoured by physical presence of some prominent politicians, even at death.
The holiday is more or less a damage control and a face serving stunt, because of public bashing.

ex Soldier to IPOB: Why You Shouldn't Celebrate COAS Attahiru's Death | #IgbereTV

By: Okello Peters Izuchukwu

First, Gen Attahiru was not in any unit in the east, when those atrocities were committed.

Secondly, during his stint as the GOC 82 DIV NA, he barely spent two months in a row in the office, as he was also a member of Arms Deal Probe Panel. His Chief Of Staff and BDE commanders who most times receive orders from Abuja were running the show.

Lastly, if Buratai was still the COAS when this unknown gun men thing began, I don't think we would be here discussing this. ...the whole of South East would feel it.

You are not more Igbo than I am.......you don't feel the pain of those senseless killings more than I do, but I still stand here to tell you that, if there is anything Attahiru would do, it is to stop Genocide from being committed against our people, even if it means going against power that be, or even losing his life.

I didn't just wake up to make these assertions..

Remember, I served in both Onitsha and Enugu as a soldier.

I witnessed this things, firsthand.

I am not going to discuss everything here....but you're free to run with your opinion"

PoliticsRe: After Ayade, Ikpeazu Set To Declare For APC by Whoube99(f): 7:56pm On May 20, 2021
kahal29:
Following the official defection of the Governor of Cross River State , Professor Ben Ayade from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressives Congress (APC) , his colleague, governor of Abia state, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu is set to formally join the APC

Ayade’s defection came six months after his Ebonyi state counterpart, David Umahi, also left the PDP.

The several months speculation of defections of Umahi, Ayade and Ikpeazu to the APC has seen Umahi and Ayade officially join the APC, setting the stage ready for Ikpeazu

A serving commissioner in Ikpeazu’s government shortly after Ayade’s defection on Thursday revealed to our correspondent that Gov. Ikpeazu has concluded plans to join his former party men to the APC.

Ikpeazu’s reason for defection is connected with his ill treatment by the defacto governor of the state .

The visiting governors during Ayade’s defection were Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi, Hope Uzodinma of Imo, Simon Lalong of Plateau, Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa and Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti.

With his defection, Mr Ayade becomes the only APC governor from the South-South geopolitical zone.

The ruling party had lost its only governor in the zone last year when Godwin Obaseki of Edo crossed to the PDP months to the governorship election in that state. He won reelection on that platform.

With Mr Ayade in the kitty, the APC now has 21 governors, the PDP 14 and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) one.

PoliticsRe: Open Grazing: Akeredolu Dares Malami by Whoube99(f): 3:43pm On May 20, 2021
Jakumo:
Obviously, the Attorney General of Nigeria, Mr. Malami, obtained his academic credentials through a rigged quota system that rewards antiquated tribal connections over any semblance of intellectual accomplishment in the realm of legal practice.

Mr. Malami's mental insanity is clearly illustrated by his amusing and bizarre claim that Fulani terrorist cattle herdsmen, who now specialize in mass murder, crop destruction, and kidnapping for ransom, are equivalent in his twisted little mind to the legitimate business of selling vehicle spare parts. Perhaps what the semi-literate Attorney General meant to imply with his quaint analogy was that the righteous and long overdue eviction of cattle herding terrorists from southern Nigeria would soon trigger a tit-for-tat retaliatory eviction of Igbo car parts marketers from Northern Nigeria.

If Mr. Malami seeks to evict Igbo spare parts vendors from Nigeria's largely illiterate Islamic northern wasteland, the only effect of such a futile own-goal would be that Igbo entrepreneurs would tactically relocate their businesses to southern Nigeria and thereby abandon northern Nigeria's fundamentalist desert-dwelling hordes to mount camels, donkeys, and goats as their primary modes of transportation or sexual gratification, which would be of little concern to Nigeria's educated southern tribes, in the grand scheme of things.
I completely share your candid thoughts and postulations on this issue of national discuss.

The only difference between all politicians in Nigeria and the common man on the streets is the money looting opportunities by virtue of the offices they occupy. Politicians in Nigeria are not intelligent folks, forget about the certificates they always claim to possess.

The very hypothetical and undeserving comment by Ayade is describing buhari as being "nationalistic". And I want to ask, in terms of whathuh, is it in the area of appointments or unificationhuh. Ayade should go a step further to explain what he meant by the word "nationalistic"...it's either, Ayade doesn't know the true meaning of the word "nationalistic" or he is simply trying to play politics of convenience and self delusion, by trying so hard to be cleaver by half.
Nobody is asking him not to decamp to any political party of his choice, after all, it's a free world. But, characters like Ayade should stop insulting our collective sensibility.

You must understand something, all Southern politicians are driven by untold degree of selfishness. While in office, they are all aspiring for the next office. The strategy to get on the ladder is to sacrifice their people, their towns and villages and their region. They do everything possible to please the Hausa Fulani Northerners in order to be favoured. We can go back a little to pull out some examples.

(1). Governor Peter Odili wanted to run for presidency, he squandered River State money on Northern Emirs and Northern Opinion leaders. At the end, he failed.

(2). General Olusegun Obasanjo held up all development programmes in the South and promoted infrastructure development in the North in order to get the 3rd term agenda through. At the end, he failed.

(3). James Ibori wanted to be a Vice President to President Yar’dua, in place of Jonathan. Delta State Liaison office in Abuja, became an ATM for all the Northern PDP members. At the end, not only did he fail, he was sent to prison.

(4). Jonathan Goodluck postponed South South development to his anticipated second tenure and put in all resources to the rehabilitation of the Almajiris, Emirs Palace from Sokoto to Maiduguri. Built Abuja-Kaduna Rail line when Lagos-Ibadan Expressway was impassable, East-West Road was a mere historical concept; built and completed Federal Universities in Katsina, Jigawa, etc but did foundation ground breaking for the the Federal University in Bayelsa. At the end, he was sent out of the Villa by the Northern INEC Chairman he appointed.

(5). Under Jonathan, the then Minister for Aviation, Stella Odua, funded in full, the rehabilitation and upgrading of the Kano, Sokoto, Katsina Airports but Port Harcourt Airport operated from a Tarpaulin, Enugu completely short down. At the end, AMCON took over all her assets and currently facing EFCC.

(6). Our brother Ibe Kachukwu was the Chairman of NNPC BOT and Petroleum Minister at the same time. He promoted the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano Gas Pipeline. He rehabilitated the Petroleum institute in Kaduna when the Petroleum Institute in Warri was not captured in the budget. He was humiliated out of office.

(7). Obono Obla, SAN was appointed the Chairman of Government Asset Recovery Committee. His target was only all past office holders from the South South and South East. At the end, he was framed and arrested.

( 8 ). The immediate past Managing Director of NDDC and Akwa Ibom State APC Governorship candidate, Nsima Ekere gave out emergency jobs (contracts) only to Southern Contractors fronting for Northerners. NDDC became an ATM for “the Villa Boys”. Where is he now?

(9). Rotimi Amaechi is lobbying to be the next Vice President, in 2023. His first action is to sell the South and became a saboteur. No wonder why as a Transport Minister, he found it very necessary to build the Lagos-Ibadan- Abuja-Kaduna-Kano-Katsina Rail line, Calabar-Maiduguri Rail line, Transport University in Katsina. The Great Eastern Railway line From Port Harcourt via Aba, Onitsha to Enugu to Okene in his books, is not feasible.
The minister is completing the biggest rail and road line into Niger Republic and towards the border of Niger Republic and other countries while the roads in the south are impassable. What Niger Republic has benefited in this Administration is bigger that all that South-South and South-East combined. Who are the Managing Directors of Nigerian Ports Authority and NIMASA?

(10). The current Petroleum Minister, Chief Timipre Sylva, has initiated the construction of the Ajaokuta-Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Gas Pipeline to facilitate the building of a Gas Power Station in Abuja and Kaduna and “to turn Kano into an Industrial Head Quarters”. The man is from Bayelsa State where there is over 90% unemployment and no electricity from National Grid.

(11). Ahmed Tinubu, for his desire to rule Nigeria practically sold the South and with his bullion vans rigged Buhari to power. History will tell of him soon like others.

(12). The number of appointments of people from Niger Republic in Buhari Administration is bigger than all south combined and all the National Assembly members are aware but keep quiet because of future ambition and to avoid probe.

The story is long!

Former Nasarawa State Governor, Senator Abdullahi Adamu has accused the governors from the southern region of the country of betraying the trust of Nigerians and their oath of office.
He also accused them of betraying their oath of allegiance to the President of Nigeria.

Adamu, the current lawmaker representing Nasarawa West in the upper chamber of the National Assembly added that the Southern Governors didn’t follow the right channel in demanding the restructuring of Nigeria as well as their decision to ban open grazing in their region.

The former two-term governor of Nasarawa State made the submission on Thursday in Keffi, the state capital during an interview with journalists where he reacted to the communique issued by the 17 southern governors after their meeting on Tuesday in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

Newspot recalls the Southern Governors Forum at the end of its meeting held in Delta State on Tuesday, 11th May, 2021, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently address the security situation in the country and speak directly to Nigerians.

The Governors while banning open grazing in their region, also noted that the activities of armed herdsmen in the southern part of the country is a serious security challenge that needs urgent attention as innocent citizens are being killed and their properties destroyed.

They also called on the Buhari administration to take bold steps on the issue of restructuring while declaring their support for state police.
