Politics › Re: Dismembering Nigeria At This Time Idiotic, Obasanjo Insists by Whoube99(f): 5:45am On Jun 10, 2021 |
adenigga: Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday, told those agitating for Nigeria’s breakup that it would be “almost idiotic” for the nation to disintegrate at this period that Africa “is talking about reintegration for economic development.”
He insisted that it was better for Nigerians to remain together.
The ex-leader spoke at the luncheon and investiture of Kehinde Isijola as new chairman of Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS), Ogun State chapter in Abeokuta.
Admitting that the prevailing situation in the country was frustrating, Obasanjo, however, submitted that the country’s balkanisation was not the solution.
He called on the agitators to shelve the idea and work for the unity of the nation.
The Owu chief expressed the hope that Nigeria would come out stronger from current challenges if the citizenry shelved their personal interests and work for the unity of the country.
He said: “If there is any Nigerian, who does not feel apprehensive over the situation of the country, the person is a human being without being human.
“Any Nigerian, who is human, will be apprehensive, if not frustrated with the present situation in the country. We are apprehensive about security situation, apprehensive about economic situation, apprehensive about our political situation and the drum we are hearing is of disintegration of the country.
“I am a strong believer of one Nigeria, but not one Nigeria at any cost, but one Nigeria where every Nigerian can feel proud that he or she has a stake in this country.
“No Nigerian is born a slave in this country. No Nigerian is born to be oppressed in this country and those of us that have shed part of our blood and sweat for this country. We did that because we wanted a country where every Nigerian can claim as his or her own.”
The ex-president continued: “I believe that if we talk among ourselves the way we should and if we change the narrative, I believe this is a great country. That we are not making Nigeria what God wants it to be is not the fault of God, but the fault of ourselves, particularly our leaders.
“One thing that gives us strength is our diversity. If all that we have is Republic of Oduduwa for those who said so, their position is understandable. If that is all we have, members of that country will be diminished compared to being a citizen of Nigeria.” Source: https://guardian.ng/Dismembering-Nigeria-at-this-time-idiotic-Obasanjo-insists Obj himself is idiotic for not talking about all the injustices that gives room to the agitations as champion by his friend in the saddle. Nepotism, favouritism, bigotry etc. has become the hallmark of this administration & yet Obj is equally blind to the truth, but chosen to be economical with the truth out of sheer fear. |

IamHeWrites: Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Sunday tweeted despite an order by the attorney-general of the federation Abubakar Malami for Nigerians still using Twitter despite its suspension to be Prosecuted, Igbere TV reports.
According to a statement, Malami had ordered the director of public prosecution of the federation to “swing into action and commence in earnest the process of prosecution of violators of the Federal Government de-activation of operations of Twitter in Nigeria.”
El-Rufai’s tweet at 09:37pm meant he could have bypassed the suspension, like many others, through the use of virtual private networks.

El-Rufai’s tweet attracted criticism from some Nigerians including ex-presidential aide Reno Omokri who called on Malami to prosecute the governor for flouting the suspension.

According to him, same thing happened to Pastor Chris Oyakhilome. He added that when a platform is used to forment anarchy, it should be regulated because it is not helping the country.
Solade also claimed that mosts posts on the social media platform are negative and targeted at the government of Nigeria.

Politics › Re: Igbos Should Not Join The June 12 Protest by Whoube99(f): 7:12am On Jun 08, 2021 |
blues234: Nigerian government seems to have declared war on her citizens with her recent stands on national issue. However, that is normal, as every government will do it's best to protect her interest and sovereignty. However, my concern is about the upcoming protest by 12 of June 2021. Igbos, both in the East and else where should be wise enough to keep off from the protest. The reason is simple, it is very easy to scapegoat Igbos and make the protest Igbos vs Federal Government, or Igbo against others. This is not just an assumption, but realities judging from past events, especially the very recent End Sars protest. The Nigerian security forces find joy in spilling Igbo bloods. As a concern Igbo man, I will advice my brothers to keep off from such protest, and also not allow any of our cities to be used for such protest. From the military operation in the west, to genocide in the east... historical factst. From End Sars Protest to Obigbo Massacre and recent military operation in the East. We should be wise not to repeat history. Onye ndi iro mbara gburgburu de ze onwe ya. They should not drag any sane person into their stupid protest. When we were warning in 2015 and 2019 about a colossal disaster and a ticking time bomb waiting to explode they were so daft & deaf but resorted to name calling. Now that the chicken has come to roast, they are here looking for supporters for a silly protest, go call wole Soyinka, tunde bakare, oby ezekwezili, pat utomi, Laurette onochie, sng, bbog, Adams osho pikin to join una |
Politics › Re: Northern Elders: Let Igbo Secede If It’s Their Wish — We Can’t Afford Another Wa by Whoube99(f): 12:05am On Jun 08, 2021 |
Ecstasy154: The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) says the Igbo should be allowed to secede from Nigeria if that is what the south-east wants.
The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) are campaigning for the secession of the south-east from Nigeria.
IPOB was formed in 2012 by Nnamdi Kanu, while MASSOB was founded in 1999 by Ralph Uwazuruike.
Addressing journalists after a closed-door meeting held in Abuja on Monday, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, spokesman of the forum, said the agitation by the Igbo for secession has become widespread, adding that the leaders in the state appear to support the decision.
Baba-Ahmed advised that standing in the way of the agitators will only worsen the insecurity in the country.
“This nation has had to fight a terrible war to preserve the country. The north had paid its dues in that war, as indeed it did in many ways throughout the history of the country. Under our current circumstances, no Nigerian should welcome another war to keep the country together,” he said.
“The forum has arrived at the difficult conclusion that if support for secession among the Igbo is as widespread as it is being made to look, and Igbo leadership appears to be in support of it, then the country should be advised not to stand in its way.
“It will not be the best choice for the Igbo or Nigerians to leave a country we have all toiled to build and a country we all have the responsibility to fix, but it will not help a country already burdened with failures on its knees to fight another war to keep the Igbo in Nigeria.”
The forum warned that attacks and killings of northerners, federal government employees, and destruction of national assets must stop, adding that those involved must be arrested and prosecuted.
The northern elders also noted that until the Igbo decide whether it wants to secede or remain part of Nigeria, the law applies to it, as the federal and state governments have a responsibility to enforce the law and protect citizens.
They also supported the calls for northerners who are exposed to harassment and violence, to consider relocating to the north.
They, however, advised that all Igbo and other ethnic groups residing in the north should be accorded the usual hospitality and security.
https://www.thecable.ng/northern-elders-let-igbo-secede-if-its-their-wish-we-cant-afford-another-war/amp And no mention was made in this hypocritical statement about the killings by Fulani herders, Fulani bandits, Iswap and boko haram. Indeed this so called northern elders are the ones sending and supporting their people for all the bloodletting going on in the county. |

RisenJoe: Yes, you read it right, that man should hide his head in shame... A whole Professor of his calibre allowed fulanis to deceive him, used him to sponsor and mobilize subsidy protest during previous administration, yet that same fuel has increased more than it's initial price now and yet that old shameless man never raised his voice, even now that food stuff price is skyrocketing he is looking like a slowpoke without speaking out. How much was fuel that time and what's the price now?
He has lost his voice, that same voice that he used to criticize Jonathan is no where to be found, same thing with that shameless old woman call Oby Ezekwesili who was protesting for the chibok girl but she has too lost her voice, but Soyinka own is what baffles me like how can an elderly person who knows the track record of Buhari as a monumental failure still went ahead and allow that same failure to use him to ascend to power.
Even OBJ that tore his PDP membership card just to spit GEJ is no where to be found now, his people are being killed like mosquitoes yet as an elder statesman he is who should arise to the situation and call this bloodthirsty administration to order yet he failed that one simple task.... Now one black monkey with white hair is somewhere talking trash about IPOB being the same with BOKO HARAM, he is nothing but intellectual fool.
Is it not the same Western nation that gave him that Nobel laureate that has refused to proscribe IPOB irrespective of the fact that the fulani mongrels in govt proscribe IPOB ?
