Tinkybabe: A large truck is crossing a bridge 100 mile long. The bridge can only hold 14000 lbs, which is the exact weight of the truck. The truck makes it half way across the bridge and stops. A bird lands on the truck. Does the bridge collapse? Give a reason.
Where is the trap here.... how is the bridge built, suspended from the ground??

Christianity EtcRe: The Pink Unicorn Argument Against Atheism. by wiegraf:
The IPU is popular, if you do not understand the concept you could always google it, and @macs variation was well explained. This is unintelligible nonsense, provided with little context

vedaxcool: Like logicboy's equivalent, you would notice that the Pink Unicorn argument can be used in unraveling atheism.

A man wakes up one day to meet a Pink unicorn (professionally done by logicboy grin) standing in front of his house, well the following are some of the first thoughts that strikes the man's thought who happens to be an atheist:

1) He is likely to believe that some made the unicorn and place in front of his house rather than assume the Unicorn evolved or magically appeared.
Proffesionally done? wtf does that mean? Do you mean created? Or do you mean a horse made to look like a unicorn?
Some made? Someone or something made, is that what you mean?
And why in the world should he dismiss evolution, or genetic mutations (though not likely, as too much of a radical change)?

vedaxcool: Now the two contending positions are:

1) Someone did make the Unicorn (professionally done by logicboy)

2) The Unicorn appeared by itself without any maker.
For no 1 you mean to say the unicorn is a hoax? Ok assumption, but could have found worse ways to present this?
For 2, appeared without a maker huh You do realize that in this universe, there are some physical laws that cannot be disobeyed?
And what the hell happened to evolution?

vedaxcool: Second scenario
To compound the matter though logicboy the maker stood by the unicorn when the man involved woke up, the man asked logicboy who placed it there? Logicboy tries to play a fast one the man and then say, the unicorn appeared out of thin air and hence drew the his attention to it. Well the man says this hogwash, I don't believe you, someone must have made it and move it here. Logicboy but as an atheist you are no stranger to believe that something could come from nothing? So why argue to the contrary? Well it does just make sense, The man insisted.

Comments
Hence drew what clusterf*** of an attention?
That's as far as I can go. The rest is just...
In essence, WTF are you trying to say?

Note, atheists do not contend to know what first cause is. Most of us just contend that NOBODY KNOWS. For you to make some silly assumptions, that could be used either ways, are illogical, unverifiable etc, and claim them to be some sort of truths borders on lunacy.
Jokes EtcRe: Riddles Riddles Riddles!!! by wiegraf:
@myers
It's more or else unanswerable, unless looking for teh actual statistic, in which case one should just googles (you could googol any riddle as well actually) a fact, not a riddle, making this trivia. And the previous one the coffin maker did not invent the coffin, the man buying one does need it to bury the dead man, the dead man could care less, well, he can't care at all.
Of course I could just be a pedantic sore loser

Oh yes and if on enjoyed dragonaut (I loathed it, stoopid gonzo time wasting bast***s, but I'd still recommend these) you might as well see ikkitousen, queens blade, and particularly QWASER. They all have brilliant plots, action, xter development, logic among many other things...
Christianity EtcRe: 20 Reasons To Abandon Christianity (part 1) by wiegraf: 7:07pm On Oct 01, 2012
Akbar10: several things are involved in this issue-
1. a lot of wrong has been done in the name of xtianity, which truth always catch up with,as the Inquisitions of the dark ages show, as well as the Crusades against Muslims to liberate Jerusalem. Isnt it however worthy of note that the dark ages was ended by a return to Biblical xtianity, in the Reformation pioneered by Martin Luther, et al?

2. worthy of note as well is that the industrial revolution began almost immediately after the Reformation, and in the same Germany!

3. truly there was a list of prohibited books by the Catholic church in the darkmages, but do you know that the Bible headed that list? the dark ages was not xtianity being anti-progress, it was rather mankind's inherent greed and wickedness being sponsored by the prevailing religious organization of the day. a return to the Bible was the only thing that released mankind from such wickedness.science was not so much the target as a knowledge of God which always makes people to rise up and embrace freedom and enlightenement

4. many xtians may have failed God, as i writing has done many times, but the standards of God and right living do not change. Abortion may be a hot issue, but if u have ever had an abortion, or interacted with one who has(again, i have done so), you will understand that anti-abortion outbursts are for the best. the way it is carried on may be coloured by bigotry, but abortion has never been in the best interests of the lady involved, even her body tells her that.

i cant rejoin all your issues here, but i will summarize by saying what any man does is not enof reason to take ur own eternal question lightly
In summary the bible is the only good source of morality, and you speak for all women? Same bible you claim aided the renaissance etc also aided the dark ages, vastly. It is no better than other moral systems, worse than many as it's based on dogma, 2000 year old society, superstitions and other risible stuff. What universal 'truths' does it have? Why, a version of the golden rule, available long before xtianity and will continue be available so long as sentient communities exist.

PhysicsQED: I watched Mnemosyne a little while after seeing you mention it here. There was some violence in each episode, definitely, and she did keep getting killed, but the perverseness/lewdness of parts of the story and the sex-related content stood out to me much more than the violence. Overall it was very entertaining (although the ending was a bit weird/gross). Thanks for (unintentionally) bringing it to my attention.

I think I'll take a look at 3*3 eyes as well.
My inability to focus probably got in the way, 3x3 eyes is probably one of the softer I recommended as far as violence is concerned. Looking at that list, I'd say they are more, what word to use... disturbing (still can't think of a better term) than violent shonen-like. I suppose something like s-cryed or gun x sword would qualify as violent, they each have a monster of the week (and are directed by oga goro from code geass, does code geass qualify as violent?).
Then again, they are also more or else regular shonen which are sort of ubiquitous. Stand out, as far as having a different feel and being fairly violent I would think would be shigurui, maybe baccano (def different, well, seinen at least, I'm just not a huge fan, but it's undeniably good). 3x3 eyes does have its charm though, you could say it has its own unique feel, and the prerequisite hapless immortal violently dying rather creatively again, and again, lol (personally, I'd rather watch 3x3 over say baccano, but I can't say it's the more violent).

Others violent, fairly disturbing,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corpse_Princess
Is a strange beast, didn't pick up for me till later episodes, when it did though it did well. has it's unique feel too, fairly violent, some great action scenes...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birdy_the_Mighty
Never really grabbed me as far story is concerned. Action scenes different, but perhaps the best I've seen. Some are just ridiculous

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ga-rei
Never finished this, can't remember why, story was meh I guess. action? violence? Has one of the best opening episodes I've seen as far those 2 categories were concerned, and sort of maintained the pace.

I got the kip thorne book you reccommended a while back, thanks, its been useful, I hope to digest it properly soon enough

There was a time the popular gods of the west endorsed violence, zeus, odin, bad mofos who didn't afraid anything. Eventually ppl grew tired of their shenanigans, the violence, hubris, decadence (I have no problem with that one), injustice, risible logic (not like today's popular faiths are any better, just thought I'd leave that in as a troll of sorts) etc. Also some other clueless religion happened to be around complete with populist appeal and messages of peace. You still retar.ded? I think its supposed to be genetic or something, so it might last a life time. Considering your infinite wisdom, could you tell me if that is correct pls?
I might be mistaken, but that is a fantastically simple way of looking at things, don't you think? Maybe you could continue to enlighten me, where do I imply that his parole violation equates to defending freedom. Do I even state he did right by violating his parole?

okeyxyz: grin grin Broda!! So after all the rants and huffing and puffing, You'd finally come down to earth, acknowledging that there's little you can accomplish without the power to back your ideals up, now you are hoping america & europe will rise up to defend victims of oppression in arab/moslem countries, as if they don't have problems of their own. Why do you think Syria is still boiling? Nobody simply wants to risk the costs of intervention. Like i said before, I feel your pains but i'd realised(way before you) that there are other ways of managing these situations rather than escalating them. You can huff & puff all you want as long as you are in america/europe, but america/europe are just one side of civilization while the rest of the world are little more than jungles, where the most heinous crimes happen and there are little or no investigations, let alone arrests/prosecutions, and these are the places where the consequences of your "liberties" are felt. simple.

Peace!!!
Huffing and puffing is what I do when bored. This response is silly though... You seem to be missing the point, declaring victory then running off. How dare you?! I'm not done with you! Come back here! WTH kind of response is that. You have aknowledged my point with the bolded. It happens in the rest of the world. IT SHOULDN'T HAPPEN IN THE FREE WORLD. THEY ARE THE STANDARD THAT OTHER FREEDOM LOVERS LOOK UP TO. IF THEY CAN BE SUCH PU$$IES WHAT DO YOU THINK THE REST OF US FIGHTING FOR RIGHTS SHOULD BE? You are pu$$ying (is that a word?) out, simple. $hit is f****d up in many parts of the world (even in the west but they gloss it well, and are overall light years ahead of the 3rd world), true, but that's how it is, and frankly, a lot of it is our fault. People get governments they deserve, Saddam, Abacha, PDP wouldn't be in power without support. Other silly $hit we do, for instance, if we didn't spend so much time leaving it to god and preparing for whatever rapture I'm sure things would improve drastically. We'll deal with it, it's not (fully) their fault we are so dysfunctional. And that is not an excuse for them to back down on their principles, in fact it should be motivation for them to defend them even more. They should be showing to the world the advantages of endorsing strong human rights, now quivering.

I expect another silly response simply because you insist on being stubborn, naturally. Where have you been btw? How work? Yield...

Christianity EtcRe: Innocence Director Arrested.....for Violating Parole by wiegraf(op): 2:39pm On Sep 29, 2012
Nah brah it sounds to me like you're cowering in fear as well. Protecting freedoms is something adults don't do? Interesting, I wasn't aware of that. Their whole country was built around protecting freedoms. If he continues to appear apologetic then they've already lost free speech. The "leader of the free world", imagine that. Xtians recently brought up a painting made decades ago, demanding an apology from the administration. And why not? Only muslims have that privilege? The benchmark of hypocrisy. They've had their way with these issues for too long, now their making silly demands like this. What's next? Westerners most add pbuh whenever they hear mohs name? What in this universe gives them the right to tell me what I can or cannot watch? From now on, shall have only stories of his most exalted saving jews via pogroms while liberating repressed western women?

Obama, practical, heh heh, no. Been a while since I followed us politics, the way he dealt with republicans then was downright naive. It was patently obvious they intended to troll everything he did, yet he still insisted on playing fair. The results? Few of those, due to stagnation. Republicans knew they could not-so-subtly push him around, expect the islamic world to follow suit. Clinton was practical. To the point of passing laws which he probably found repulsive, this to achieve victory in the war, not the battle. Obama is just being naïve mr nice guy. And you call me an idealist. Note, refusing to comment on the issue, or in fact defending the mans right's publicly isn't going cause any major conflict. What gives you that idea? For instance, Danish president refused to meet various ambassadors after that silly affair with the comics, that didn't effect an already ridiculous situation

I've done my part, no need to get into that. Its not much, but still, its what I could manage, and its made my life a lot more difficult. There are many trying to escape, and they should not have to wait because some people are too scared, or bent on making a profit. Others shouldn't have their rights taken away, by an extremely hypocritical group no less. You expect us all to leave it to god and get our goodies in the afterlife, ignoring the state of this world? Hahahahahahaha. I hope you aren't serious..
