https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNdScTcTjg4 Chilling CCTV footage has captured the final moments of a woman who fell to her death from a 10th floor Benidorm balcony during a friend's hen party. Kirsty Maxwell is filmed walking along a corridor in the Payma Apartments in the Spanish resort just hours before she died. The newly released video, captured on a hotel CCTV camera, shows the friends, each wearing their hen do outfits as they make their way to a lift in the building. More footage later shot on a mobile phone shows Mrs Maxwell, from West Lothian in Scotland, asleep in bed on April 29 last year. Just an hour after that footage was shot she plunged to her death, and the events leading up to that moment remain unclear. |

Tuesday, May 29th, 2018 is Democracy day and officially three years since the President Mohammad Buhari assumed office, while the president gives a speech to mark the 19th year of Nigeria’s democracy and the 3rd Anniversary of his administration. Buhari addressed the nation in a live broadcast which started at 7 am and lasted for almost 26 minutes, to explain what his administration has been able to do in the last three years. While at it, we, however, gathered about five similarities between the Presidents 2018 democracy day speech and 2016 Democracy day speech. 1. Boko Haram: President Buhari is his 2016 democracy speech, talked about Boko Haram. The president said the insurgents had captured 14 local governments, driven the local authorities out, hoisted their flags. The president in 2018 also spoke about the insurgents. He said his administration has degraded the capacity of the Boko Haram insurgency leading to the release of 106 Chibok and 104 Dapchi girls and over 16,000 other persons held by the insurgents. 2. Fight against corruption: President Buhari in his 2016 democracy speech, talked about the fight against corruption, the EFCC was given the freedom to pursue corrupt officials and the judiciary was alerted on what Nigerians expect of them in the fight against corruption. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday slammed president Muhammadu Buhari, calling him ignorant and uninformed about the power sector. Buhari had earlier on Tuesday said that the Obasanjo administration spent $16bn on power projects during his tenure, without corresponding power supply to Nigerians. Chief Obasanjo challenges, and in fact encourages, anybody to set up another enquiry if in doubt and unsatisfied with the EFCC report and that of the Hon. Aminu Tambuwal-led ad-hoc committee, said a statement by Kunle Somorin, his media assistant. Statement It has come to the attention of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo that a statement credited to President Muhammadu Buhari, apparently without correct information and based on ignorance, suggested that $16 billion was wasted on power projects by “a former President”. We believe that the President was re-echoing the unsubstantiated allegation against Chief Obasanjo by his own predecessor but one. While it is doubtful that a President with proper understanding of the issue would utter such, it should be pointed out that records from the National Assembly had exculpated President Obasanjo of any wrong-doing concerning the power sector and has proved the allegations as false. For the records, Chief Obasanjo has addressed the issues of the power sector and the allegations against him on many occasions and platforms, including in his widely publicised book, My Watch in which he exhaustively stated the facts and reproduced various reports by both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which conducted a clinical investigation into the allegations against Chief Obasanjo, and the Ad-Hoc Committee on the Review of the Recommendations in the Report of the Committee on Power on the Investigation into how the Huge Sums Of Money was Spent on Power Generation, Transmission And Distribution between June 1999 and May 2007 without Commensurate Result. We recommend that the President and his co-travellers should read Chapters 41, 42, 43 and 47 of My Watch for Chief Obasanjo’s insights and perspectives on the power sector and indeed what transpired when the allegation of $16 billion on power projects was previously made. If he cannot read the three-volume book, he should detail his aides to do so and summarise the chapters in a language that he will easily understand. In the same statement credited to the President, it was alleged that there was some bragging by Chief Obasanjo over $16 billion spent on power. To inform the uninformed, the so-called $16 billion power expenditure was an allegation against Chief Obasanjo’s administration and not his claim. The President also queried where the power generated is. The answer is simple: The power is in the seven National Integrated Power Projects and eighteen gas turbines that Chief Obasanjo’s successor who originally made the allegation of $16 billion did not clear from the ports for over a year and the civil works done on the sites. source: http://nigerianpilot.com/obasanjo-replies-of-buhari/ |
Embattled special investigator recently disengaged by the Special Presidential Investigation Panel on recovery of Public Property, SPIP, Evangelist Victor Osita Uwajeh, has attributed his sack to his refusal to investigate Senate President Bukola Saraki and former vice president Atiku Abubakar and other perceived enemies of President Muhammadu Buhari. He alleged that his refusal to act on the courier document sent to him from Nigeria by the government which comprises of some names perceived to be enemies of the current administration responsible for his disengagement.
