theoneJabulani:Your ability to probe the existence of your Creator depends solely on how your Creator created you. You need to understand your limits. Your limits is why you are not yet sure how you got here. There is something we refer to as eternal (no beginning, no end). Time is what makes it seen as if things must have a beginning. When something begins, there is a strong indication of a time frame attached to it. The universe has also been proven to have a beginning. There are strong indications that time was created in this beginning. So the question we need to ask is this; 'what was existing outside of time'. Whatever was existing outside of time is what we refer to as eternal. I've answered this question better here (https://www.nairaland.com/2816262/god-created-everything-created-god). Click the link. I hope it helps you. God bless you. |
KingEbukaNaija:so cool. |
theoneJabulani:God (Creator) and man(creation) are different. Its like drawing a man on a piece of paper. The piece of art is your creation. Now would you compare your abilities with that of the man you drew on the paper? ![]() Its just logic. |
happy sunday |
theoneJabulani:I would have loved to agree with you. But you'd have know everything (omniscience) and be everywhere (omnipresent) to make such a claim. Ravi Zacharias sums up my thoughts in this quote "To sustain the belief that there is no God, atheism has to demonstrate infinite knowledge, which is tantamount to saying, "I have infinite knowledge that there is no being in existence with infinite knowledge" |
davien:Keep waving your hands. You are living in a lie. @bolded, with all pleasure. |
davien:Lying? lol... Funny. You didnt think so when atheist open threads relentlessly attacking christians and their beliefs. |

11. Naiveté/Gullibility Many atheists have embraced a number of far fetched, unworkable, and errant notions and ideologies such as communism, abiogenesis, and evolution despite abundant evidence of their falsity. 12. Irrational thinking A comprehensive study by Baylor University found that the irreligious and the members of more liberal Protestant denominations, tend to be much more likely to believe in the paranormal and in pseudoscience than evangelical Christians. Also, as noted above, a 1980 study published in the magazine Skeptical Inquirer found irreligious college students to be by far the most likely to embrace paranormal beliefs, while born again Christian college students were found to be the least likely. https://www.conservapedia.com/images/c/c6/Evolution.jpgLate in Charles Darwin's life, Darwin told the Duke of Argyll that he frequently had overwhelming thoughts that the natural world was the result of design. In a letter to Asa Gray, Darwin confided: "...I am quite conscious that my speculations run quite beyond the bounds of true science." 13. Superficiality Noted ex-atheist and psychologist Dr. Paul Vitz has stated that he had superficial reasons for becoming an atheist such as the desire to be accepted by his Stanford University professors who were united in disbelief regarding God. 14. Error Some argue that atheism partly stems from a failure to fairly and judiciously consider the facts. 15. State churches In regards to the causes of atheism, rates of atheism are much higher in countries with a state sanctioned religion (such as many European countries), and lower in states without a sanctioned religion (such as the United States). Some argue this is because state churches become bloated, corrupt, and/or out of touch with the religious intuitions of the population, while churches independent of the state are leaner and more adaptable. It is important to distinguish "state-sanctioned churches," where participation is voluntary, from "state-mandated churches" (such as Saudi Arabia) with much lower atheism rates because publicly admitted atheism is punishable by death. 16. Decline of family in a culture Subsets of atheism such as Homosexuality, Feminism e.t.c have launched direct attacks at marriage, an act which constitutes a Family. The Family is the most basic institution ordained by God to train up children in the way they should go. Since families come before business or government, neither business nor government has power over it. This conflict of governmental laws and marriage is nothing new. One of the most important debates Jesus had with leaders had to do with the tension between law and marriage. "Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, 'Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?'" (Matt 19:3). Notice, they were not asking if it is morally right to divorce their wives for any and every reason. They were asking if it is "lawful" to do this. They were dealing with law, not with simple morality. The way Jesus answers it is by reminding them and us that marriage does not have its foundation or origin in law, but with God alone. He reminds them of the first marriage that God, alone, without judges, performed: "Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate." (Matt 19:4-6) So Jesus takes marriage laws and removes them from marriage and reminds us that "laws" or what is "lawful" is not the real issue. The issue is what is "right", not what is lawful. In most countries people are free to divorce their spouses for reasons other than "marital unfaithfulness." Even though they are lawfully divorced this does not make them "morally" divorced. They still have vows they made before God, and no government can release people from the vows they made before God. Mary Eberstadt, a research fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, found the decline of family values such as; Strong emphasis on the sanctity of marriage-Opposition to homosexual indoctrination-Pro-life beliefs-Belief in the importance of religion and prayer in everyday life-An emphasis on truth and humility-An emphasis on hard-work and strong personal character-An emphasis on personal responsibility-Belief that parents, and not government or public schools, know what is best for their children-Emphasis on self reliance, as opposed to government handouts-Respect for historical precedence and longstanding values-Teaching respect for the opposite sex, Chivalry-Respecting personal property-Respecting education-Teaching children to respect their elders, particularly within the family e.t.c. leads to a rise in secularization. 17. Socialism/Communism According to the University of Cambridge, historically, the "most notable spread of atheism was achieved through the success of the 1917 Russian Revolution, which brought the Marxist-Leninists to power." Vitalij Lazarʹevič Ginzburg, a Soviet physicist, wrote that the "Bolshevik communists were not merely atheists but, according to Lenin's terminology, militant atheists." However, prior to this, the Reign of Terror of the French Revolution established an atheist state, with the official ideology being the Cult of Reason; during this time thousands of believers were suppressed and executed by the guillotine. The atheism in communist regimes has been and continues to be militant atheism and various acts of repression including the razing of thousands of religious buildings and the killing, imprisoning, and oppression of religious leaders and believers. It is estimated that in the past 100 years, governments under the banner of atheistic communism have caused the death of somewhere between 158,368,610 to 259,432,000 human lives. The historical record of collective atheism is thus 182,716 times worse on an annual basis than Christianity’s worst and most infamous misdeed, the Spanish Inquisition. This means that the average atheist crime against humanity is 18.3 million percent worse than the very worst depredation committed by Christians, even though atheists have had less than one-twentieth the number of opportunities with which to commit them(SOURCE) 18. Simplistic view of science combined with secular leftist utopianism. Albert Einstein said about atheists; “The fanatical atheists are like slaves who are still feeling the weight of their chains which they have thrown off after hard struggle. They are creatures who – in their grudge against traditional religion as the ‘opium of the masses’ – cannot hear the music of the spheres.” When asked if he believes the historical Jesus? He answered “Unquestionably! No one can read the Gospels without feeling the actual presence of Jesus. His personality pulsates in every word. No myth is filled with such life.” Lord William Kelvin, who was noted for his theoretical work on thermodynamics, the concept of absolute zero and the Kelvin temperature scale based upon it said about atheists; “I believe that the more thoroughly science is studied, the further does it take us from anything comparable to atheism. If you study science deep enough and long enough, it will force you to believe in God.” Sir Isaac Newton, who is widely regarded to have been the greatest scientist the world has ever produced said to atheists; “In the absence of any other proof, the thumb alone would convince me of God’s existence. I have a fundamental belief in the Bible as the Word of God, written by those who were inspired. I study the Bible daily.” Quantum chemist Henry F. Schaefer III; “A Creator must exist. The Big Bang ripples and subsequent scientific findings are clearly pointing to an ex nihilo creation consistent with the first few verses of the book of Genesis.” Astronomer, physicist and founder of NASA’s Goddard Institute of Space Studies Robert Jastrow quotes; “Astronomers now find they have painted themselves into a corner because they have proven, by their own methods, that the world began abruptly in an act of creation to which you can trace the seeds of every star, every planet, every living thing in this cosmos and on the earth. And they have found that all this happened as a product of forces they cannot hope to discover…. That there are what I or anyone would call supernatural forces at work is now, I think, a scientifically proven fact.” To find out more about leading scientists, late or alive, who found atheism to be at a warfare with science, click (HERE). 19. Scientism Science has in many ways become a new god. Scientism is self-refuting. William Lane Craig wrote: "Scientism tells us that we should not believe any proposition that cannot be scientifically proven. But what about that very proposition itself? It cannot itself be scientifically proven." 20. Self-deception 21. Satanic deception 22. Division in religion According to Sir Francis Bacon(credited with formulating and establishing the scientific method!), atheism is caused by "divisions in religion, if they be many; for any one main division addeth zeal to both sides, but many divisions introduce atheism." 23. Ignorance. The ex-atheist C.S. Lewis wrote: "In reading Chesterton, as in reading MacDonald, I did not know what I was letting myself in for. A young man who wishes to remain a sound Atheist cannot be too careful of his reading. There are traps everywhere--"Bibles laid open, millions of surprises," as Herbert says, "fine nets and stratgems." Sir Francis Bacon wrote: "A little philosophy inclineth man's mind to atheism, but depth in philosophy bringeth men's minds about to religion." Individuals such as Calvin Smith of Creation Ministries International have reported leaving atheism after finding out the falsehood of evolutionary pseudoscience and the evidence for biblical creation. The ex-atheist Lee Strobel in his book "The Case for Christ" indicates how he used his journalist skills and legal training to discover the truth of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. https://www.conservapedia.com/images/d/d4/Mayo_clinic_Rochester_MN.jpgThe prestigious Mayo Clinic found that religious involvement and spirituality are associated with better physical health and mental health outcomes 24. Indoctrination and ease of life Francis Bacon argued that atheism was partly caused by: "Learned times, specially with peace and prosperity; for troubles and adversities do more bow men’s minds to religion." In addition, Jewish columnist Dennis Prager has stated that a causal factor of atheism is the "secular indoctrination of a generation." Prager stated that "From elementary school through graduate school, only one way of looking at the world – the secular – is presented. The typical individual in the Western world receives as secular an indoctrination as the typical European received a religious one in the Middle Ages." In 2013, a study found that academia was less likely to hire evangelical Christians due to discriminatory attitudes. Atheists have focused considerable efforts on the public schools in order to indoctrinate young people into atheistic beliefs. In addition, in communist countries (such as the former Soviet Union) atheistic indoctrination occurred in the educational system through such venues as schools, atheist museums, and clubs. Atheists and secularists rarely point out that universities such as Harvard, Princeton, Oxford, Cambridge, and many others were founded by Christians. Although the United States with its tradition of religious freedom and a strong work ethic has experienced high levels of prosperity and religiosity, often prosperity is inversely proportional to religious belief due to men's arrogance when they become wealthier. Vox Day has pointed out that arrogant and godless nations have often eventually experienced significant hardships(SOURCE). https://www.conservapedia.com/images/0/0e/Flag_of_Sweden.pngIn 2014, Sweden's new Social Democrat prime minister Stefan Loefven said, "Sweden is in a serious situation -- unemployment has become entrenched at high levels, school results have collapsed and the welfare system has major shortcomings" 25. Apathy. A subgroup of atheists/agnostics refers to themselves as apatheists. Jesus Christ said that greatest commandment in the Old Testament is to love God with all your heart, soul and mind (Mark 12:30-31). In addition, the Bible says that God is love (1 John 4: .Opposites of love are hate, anger and apathy. No doubt many atheists mask/supress their anger towards God by feigning indifference and/or telling themselves that they are indifferent concerning His existence 26. Negative experiences with theists 27. Materialist pseudoscience. Countries with higher rates of Darwinism also have higher rates of atheism. Biblical creationists, such as advocates of the Question evolution! campaign, assert that evolutionism is an ideological "air supply of atheism" and that reducing Darwinism will reduce the prevalence of atheism. 28. Ingratitude towards the Creator. 29. Pursuit of prestige within secular circles. 30. Intellectual cowardice 31. In cultures not receptive to atheism, atheists appear to be more likely to be social outcasts. In short, in certain cases, namely where atheists are already social outcasts, they have less negative social consequences by becoming atheists. 32. Rigid and limited thinking. Atheism has an unnecessary limiting view of the world. Atheist Francois Tremblay wrote: "One last problem that undermines any propagation of atheism is inspiration. Let's be honest here, "there is no god!" is not a very motivating call for most people."[/b] The ex-atheist Alister McGrath has repeatedly pointed out the uninspiring nature of atheism. According to McGrath, [i]atheism is "stale", "dull" and difficult to believe. John Updike wrote: "Among the repulsions of atheism for me has been its drastic un-interestingness as an intellectual position. Where was the ingenuity, the ambiguity, the humanity...of saying that the universe just happened to happen and that when we're dead we're dead?" The British columnist Giles Coren wrote in The Times: "But it’s not the nihilism, the soullessness, the lack of poetry, the moral and physical ugliness, the shallow iconoclasm or the vainglory of atheists that bother me most. It’s the boringness. Is there anything more boring in the world than an atheist?" (Well, an atheist that does not spend his time talking about God.) China has the world's largest atheist population. National Public Radio's article Chinese Turn To Religion To Fill A Spiritual Vacuum declares: One young evangelical Christian missionary travels from rural village to village in the Protestant heartland in eastern China to proselytize. She attributed her own conversion to the overwhelming pressures of China's education system. "In high school, I felt very depressed," said the bright-eyed young woman, who gave her name as Nicole. "I felt people had no direction, and I felt life was dry and boring. I felt the pressure of school was very high. God helped me and liberated me." Todd Strandberg said of atheism: "The ranks of atheists have always been small... The key problem with atheism is that it lacks a strong 'selling point'" https://www.conservapedia.com/images/9/9a/Jerry_Coyne.jpgAtheist Jerry Coyne said about atheist meetings: "But to me the speakers and talks have often seemed repetitive: the same crew of jet-set skeptics giving the same talks." Coyne also said about the atheist meetings which he attended that quite a few of the talks were lame 33. 1. Mankind's sinful nature The history of the atheist community and various studies concerning the atheist community point to moral depravity being a causal factor for atheism. In addition, there is the historical matter of deceit being used in a major way to propagate atheism from the time of Charles Darwin onward. The Bible indicates that atheists are morally depraved. The psalmist David declared: "The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God.' They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good." — Psalms 14:1 (KJV). The prophet Jeremiah wrote: "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" - Jeremiah 17:9 (KJV) Francis Thompson wrote: "Maybe the atheist cannot find God for the same reason a thief cannot find a policeman." Moral depravity is certainly one of the prime causes of atheism. For example, atheists have been the biggest mass murderers in history. I proved that (HERE). Atheist, Cannibal and serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer asked: "If a person does not think there is a God to be accountable to, then what's the point of trying to modify your behavior to keep it within acceptable ranges? Evolutionist and atheist Richard Dawkins stated in an interview: “What’s to prevent us from saying Hitler wasn’t right? I mean, that is a genuinely difficult question." The interviewer wrote, regarding the Hitler comment, "I was stupefied. He had readily conceded that his own philosophical position did not offer a rational basis for moral judgments. His intellectual honesty was refreshing, if somewhat disturbing on this point." This underlines the fact that atheists have no moral grounding except maybe the one they learnt from religion. https://www.conservapedia.com/images/5/52/Peter_Singer_MIT_Veritas.jpg The atheist philosopher Peter Singer defends the practice of bestiality (as well as abortion, infanticide and euthanasia). Despite holding these immoral views the liberal and pro-evolution academic establishment rewarded his views with a bioethics chair at Princeton University https://www.conservapedia.com/images/7/77/Laurence_Krauss.JPG In response to the question, "Why is incest wrong?", the atheist Lawrence Krauss said, "It's not clear to me that it is wrong." 2. Hatred towards God. Angry and bitter and attacks on Christianity and Christians by atheists are most often due to hatred towards Jesus Christ and the Bible. I gave sufficient proof of that HERE and HERE. Jennifer LeClaire, a news editor at Charisma News wrote: “Atheists don’t believe God exists, so why do they get so angry when Christians call them out for it?... Atheism is rooted in an antichrist spirit that has made man his own God. Atheists have separated themselves from God in this life, yet He still blesses them with an opportunity to repent every day. In the next life—eternal life—atheists won’t be so brazen about insisting God doesn’t exist because they will bow their knee to Jesus Christ (Phil. 2:10; Rom. 14:11) before spending forever apart from His presence in the lake of fire. Calling Christians nasty names and insulting God isn’t going to change that or stop Christians from sharing their faith. I would challenge every atheist who is reading this article to truly seek God with an open mind. I guarantee if you open your heart, ask Him to reveal Himself to you, and seek Him sincerely, you will find Him. 3. Atheistic upbringing However, according to recent research by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life, in the United States, a majority of those surveyed who were raised in atheist or agnostic households, or where there was no specific religious attachment, later chose to join a religious faith. (SOURCES)1 and 2 A notable example, of a person raised in a atheistic household who later became a Christian is William J. Murray. Mr. Murray was raised by Madalyn Murray O'Hair who founded the organization American Atheists. In addition, Christianity is experiencing rapid growth in atheistic communist China and has experienced rapid growth in former communist countries. (SOURCES1, 2, 3.) https://www.conservapedia.com/images/e/e7/Amanohashidate-Kasamatsu_Park_2010-10-02_891.JPG Even in atheistic Japan, researchers found that Japanese children see the world as designed Atheism has also been confirmed to have a lower retention rate compared to other worldviews 4. Atheistic society/environment. 5. Poor relationship with father/mother/parents A troubled/non-existent relationship with a father can influence a person to become an atheist. Dr. Paul Vitz wrote a book entitled Faith of the Fatherless in which he points out that after studying the lives of more than a dozen leading atheists he found that a large majority of them had a father who was present but weak, present but abusive, or absent. Dr. Vitz also examined the lives of prominent theists who were contemporaneous to their atheist counterparts and from the same culture and in every instance these prominent theists had a good relationship with his father. Dr. Vitz has also stated other common factors he observed in the leading atheists he profiled: they were all intelligent and arrogant. The book Atheist Persona: Causes and Consequences by John J. Pasquini, Th.D. indicates that many of the prominent atheists (and prominent practical atheists) who had dysfunctional/absent fathers that he lists in his book also had dysfunctional/absent mothers. 6. Pride/Rebellion Atheism stems from a choice to ignore the reality of God's existence. The atheist Friedrich Nietzsche wrote: "But now God is dead. You superior men, this God was your greatest danger. Only since he is in the grave, have you risen again. Only now comes the great noontide; only now the superior man will be – Lord!". Atheists have also given themselves pretentious monikers such as freethinker and rationalist. 7. Narcissism. Since they need to find meaning elsewhere other than God. Atheists have been proven to pursue gratification from vanity and to have an egoistic admiration of their own attributes. Jesus Christ however espoused a teaching different from this. https://www.conservapedia.com/images/c/cc/The_Crucifixion_by_Simon_Vouet.jpgJesus Christ and his apostles taught a gospel of love which included sacrificial love. Jesus said, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13). 8. Immaturity. A Georgetown University study was published indicating that only about 30 percent of those who grow up in an atheist household in the United States remain atheists as adults. A 2012 study by the General Social Survey of the social science research organization NORC at the University of Chicago found that belief in God rises with age, even in atheistic nations. The ages 14-19 are very influential in terms of an individual adopting atheism. Vox Day writes about immaturity being a causal factor for atheism: "the age at which most people become atheists indicates that it is almost never an intellectual decision, but an emotional one". (This is why most self-identified atheists are angry, bitter, and immature. The anger, bitterness, and immaturity are usually the cause of the atheism, they are not, as many Christians erroneously suppose, the effects). Ken Ammi concurs in his essay and writes: “It is widely known that some atheists rejected God in their childhood, based on child like reasons, have not matured beyond these childish notions and thus, maintain childish-emotional reactions toward the idea of God." https://www.conservapedia.com/images/6/6d/Europe_pol_2004.jpgAccording to the World Health Organization's (WHO) regional office in Europe, "The WHO European Region has the highest proportion in the world of total ill health, suicide and premature death due to alcohol https://www.conservapedia.com/images/c/c4/Drugs.jpgReligion has "enormous potential for lowering the risk of substance abuse among teens and adults," according to the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse 9. Anger and bitterness. On January 1, 2011, CNN reported: “People unaffiliated with organized religion, atheists and agnostics also report anger toward God either in the past, or anger focused on a hypothetical image - that is, what they imagined God might be like - said lead study author Julie Exline, Case Western Reserve University psychologist. In studies on college students, atheists and agnostics reported more anger at God during their lifetimes than believers.” Various studies found that traumatic events in people's lives has a positive correlation with "emotional atheism". The atheist, lesbian Greta Christina told the journalist Chris Mooney on the Point of Inquiry podcast, "there isn't one emotion" that affects atheists "but anger is one of the emotions that many of us have ...it drives others to participate in the movement". Jesus Christ and Christendom have emphasized the important of forgiveness and in the last few decades mental health specialists have increasingly seen the importance of forgiveness to alleviate anger and other emotional problems within individuals. https://www.conservapedia.com/images/8/8e/Angry_atheist.jpgAn angry atheist speaking to a woman with a Bible in her hand. 10. Hedonism. The Apostle Paul wrote that in the end times, men would be lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God (2 Timothy 3:1-4). The infamous pornographers Hugh Hefner and Larry Flynt are both atheists. https://www.conservapedia.com/images/a/ad/Larry_Flynt_Wheelchair.jpgThe pornographer Larry Flynt Engaging in overseas evangelism/outreaches in poor countries often requires significant hardships/persecution and western atheists by in large have been unwilling to endure such hardships in order to spread atheistic ideology - especially when compared to Christianity. https://www.conservapedia.com/images/0/00/FMSC_Distribution_Partner_in_Malawi.jpgJust like several other christian organizations, the Christian relief organization Feed My Starving Children has a distribution partner in Malawi, Africa. In recent years, Christianity has seen a rapid growth in Africa. In 2005, there were four times as many non-Western World Christians as there were Western World Christians. Western World atheists have not engaged in a significant amount of global outreach, especially to countries struggling with poverty and hunger. |

Brigance:You have evaded the basic question: What are you doing here?. Do you have problems with simple instructions or are you here to convince yourself that there is no God. |
KingEbukaNaija:Yeah yeah, I still got one badass thread to create. ![]() |
Brigance:The picture below says share your belief, not disbelief. Are you here to share your belief? . You claim not to have faith or belief. What exactly are you doing here.
|
Brigance:Ive been opening threads for my brothers and i noticed that atheists launch threads against christianityand also ridicule christians with little or no reply from the christians. This will do more harm than good to those watching from the sidelines. Normally, I keep my belief to myself. And i try to share my belief with other believers. And i also believe that this section has been created for that purpose. So saying that i want to influence you in the tenets of my faith is laughable cos you shouldn't be here to begin with. Brigance:I want to share my belief with my brothers on a section that has been created for that purpose. I cant hold my peace on a religion section. An atheist asking me to hold my peace on a religion section is a joke. I got nothing to prove to you. If i wanted to prove God to anyone, i'll be on reddit. |
Brigance:I agree Brigance:I need to work myself up because the atheists wont allow me to share my belief among my brothers on a section that has been created solely for that purpose Brigance:I will close my eyes to their delusions, if they close their eyes to mine. Brigance:No. Those who spend everyday of their lives on a religion section expressing their hatred for a God that supposedly does not exist are the ones that are insecure and threatened by our stand. |
sonOfLucifer:I got a whole lot more poo brah ![]() |
Brigance:This article is not to prove that God exists, but to prove the basis for the atheists contempt for his Creator. |

Most people in the world, throughout the ages of history, have believed in some concept of a Supreme Being. They may have had a perverted sense of Who that Being is, but they were convinced that there is a Personal Power greater than man. Given the evidence available, faith is reasonable. That is why the psalmist declared: “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God” (Psalm 14:1). The Hebrew word for “fool” suggests one who is not thinking rationally. Since unbelief is neither reasonable nor the norm, one cannot but wonder why some people become atheists. With careful observation, one will notice that religious disbelief does not result from logical conclusions based on well-researched data. Rather, generally speaking, emotional motivation of some sort is a primary causative factor. I proved (HERE) that one of the major motivations of atheism is hatred (for God), citing sufficient examples of atheists on Nairaland. I proved that this hatred is not from non-belief but from a deep seated realization that in all likelihood they will have to give account to ‘Someone’ and fear and trepidation coupled with a stoney heart give rise to a venomous hatred of anyone and anything that is even remotely Christian So one may wonder. How can you hate someone you don’t believe in? Why the hostility? If God does not exist, shouldn’t atheists just relax and seek a good time before they become plant food? Why should it matter if people believe in God? Nothing matters if atheism is true. Some examples to observe Aldous Huxley (1894–1963), the brother of the atheistic evolutionist Sir Julian Huxley, advocated a drug-fuelled utopia. He gave the reason for his anti-Christian stance: “I had motive for not wanting the world to have a meaning … the philosophy of meaninglessness was essentially an instrument of liberation, sexual and political.”. In all honesty, he confessed that the morality of theism interfered “with our sexual freedom”. Like Huxley, some people don’t like God because they don’t like moral constraints—you can make up your own rules, or have none at all, if God does not exist. They hate God and Christians because they are actually not confident that God does not exist and seeing Christians may remind them that they are ‘suppressing the truth’ (Romans 1:18). And as we can observe, this is hardly a valid argument for rejecting the vast array of evidence that testifies to the existence of a Supreme Being! Also consider the case of Judith Hayes, a senior writer for The American Rationalist, authored a caustic, atheistic tirade titled: In God We Trust: But Which One? In this treatise, Mrs. Hayes revealed two clues as to why she left the Lutheran Church and became an atheist. As a youngster, she had a friend who was a Buddhist. Judith was very close to “Susan,” and she simply could not tolerate the idea that her friend, who did not accept Jesus Christ as the Son of God, might be lost apart from the biblical redemptive system. So, rather than carefully examining the evidence to determine whether or not the claims of the Lord (as set forth in the New Testament record—see John 14:6; Acts 4:12) are true, she simply decided, on an emotional and reactionary basis, that Christianity could not be genuine. Eventually Judith married, but the relationship degenerated. Mrs. Hayes claims her husband was verbally abusive. Again, though, instead of considering the possibility that she might have been responsible for having made a bad choice in her marital selection, or that her husband decided on his own volition to be abusive (in direct violation of divine teaching—Ephesians 5:25.), she blamed God for her disappointment. “How could I possibly have wound up married to a tyrant? Why had God forsaken me?,” she wrote (in p. 15). God did not forsake her. He honored her freedom of choice, and that of her husband as well. Human abuse of that freedom is not the Lord’s responsibility. The infidel William Ernest Henley was known principally for his skeptical poem, Invictus. As a youngster, Henley contracted tuberculosis, and had to have one foot amputated. He suffered much across the years and became quite bitter. He wrote: "In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced or cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance, my head is bloody, but unbowed". His disbelief, however, was emotional, not intellectual. The late Isaac Asimov once wrote: “Emotionally I am an atheist. I don’t have the evidence to prove that God doesn’t exist, but I so strongly suspect that he doesn’t that I don’t want to waste my time”. Here is the important point. When men have motives for resisting faith in God, and when—out of personal prejudice—they are predisposed to reject the Creator, they become “ripe” for philosophical skepticism. So what about atheists who had a church/religious upbringing? Some of them hate God because of evil things done to them by teachers in religious schools or by church leaders—people who on the face of it represented God. Antipathy towards God is an understandable reaction, sadly (although illogical). Many also complain about hell; they are angry at God because of hell. I understand that teachers in certain church-based schools, and parents in some ‘religious’ homes, commonly used the ‘fear of God’ to make children behave. “You are bad; you will burn in hell if you don’t behave.” But such a simplistic works-oriented approach not only trivializes this most serious of subjects, it negates the Gospel of God’s grace. (We are all ‘bad’ in God’s eyes, and ‘behaving properly’ will not save us—only Jesus can.) A child who is having difficulties may well conclude that there is no way out for them, leading to years of nightmares about suffering in hell. Such a troubled teenager hearing an atheist say that evolution explains how we got here and that God is a myth could find this to be a liberating message, a release from their fears. The Gospel is missing from all this. The Bible tells us that God is in the business of salvation. Though His wrath regarding sin is all too real, we need not suffer it. Those who come to Him in repentance and faith will not be turned away (John 6:37). “For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) It is strange that people hate God, who loves so much. Some atheists complain of Christian ‘intolerance’ in speaking about hell. But if those who spurn God’s forgiveness will suffer God’s wrath, shouldn’t we Christians be warning everyone about the danger and how they can be saved? How is that ‘intolerant’? It would be extremely unloving not to tell others of this. God bless you. geoworldedu:When someone congratulates you, do you explain your misfortune to them? ![]() |
geoworldedu:Good. And you are telling me this why? |
Congratulations geoworldedu for being an agnostic. If you are not sure of something, how come you are expressing so much knowledge about something you are not sure of?. How come you want us not to be sure with you? . If you wanna doubt the bible, then some of us are less concerned with your woes.

StarMogul:They pushed it to the front page to ridicule christianity, not because the Op makes any sense. |
KingEbukasBlog:Ive heard of Otolo once shaa. But never been there. |
SirWere:You may not know this but its the truth. SirWere:and dangerous. I guess thats why you come here often to warn people of this danger. SirWere:People have been saying this since the 12th century of so. Religion, my friend, will continue to grow if allowed its freedom of expression. Atheists will have to employ the tactics used by Mao, pot, stalin and others to try to eradicate religion. Even at that, God moves in mysterious ways, remember constantine? SirWere:E concern you die. Looking at the time you spend talking about religion. It is people like me that can say "a belief in santa claus does not concern me". ![]() |
