Because at the time of my birth, it was only birth hospital certificate that was obtainable.

Please will the attestation of bith be accepted?

VisaOfficer:
You never had a government-issued birth certificate? May I ask why not?
TravelRe: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer by winnie123: 9:58am On Sep 15, 2015
I have a birth certificate issued by the hospital, but since it is not acceptable by the immigration that was why i got attestation of birth from the NPC.

VisaOfficer:
People born outside of Lagos should contact the local government that issued their original certificate directly and ask for a re-issued certificate, if they can't find their original birth certificate. If an attestation of birth is all you have, NVC may or may not have additional questions for you.
TravelRe: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer by winnie123: 8:36pm On Sep 14, 2015
Please what about someone that is born outside Lagos? Because i just submitted attestation of birth to the NVC and i was not born in Lagos.

[Qquote author=Titilayodeji13 post=37719642]

A police certificate can only be issued by lagos CID headquarters.

Tho the Abuja CID also do the police certificate but the send it to lagos, which means one have to wait for days before one can have it in Abuja but it is immediately issued in Lagos CID headquarters.
Dear vo,

For my case AOS and tax documents have been sent to NVC, is there any need of bring it to the interview again?

VisaOfficer:
I'm glad this forum is helpful! smiley The instructions to the AOS should remind the petitioner to send the most recent three years' worth of tax documents as well. And that should do it. smiley

Thank for the response. The visa will be issued by God's grace.

Qquote author=VisaOfficer post=37395755]

If your legal name is your married name, your husband should have used it when he filed the petition. But you can correct that when you fill out the online DS-260. The visa, if issued, will reflect the name in your passport.
Dear vo,

Please i will like you to clear me on this, Our case is presently with the NVC. My husband filed in for me using my maiden name (i.e my father's name as surname) instead of my marriage name (which is his surname). And my passport is bearing my marriage name, hope that would not affect anything?

Dear vo,

What about declaration of age from the High Court, will that also be accepted.

[qquote author=VisaOfficer post=37100735]

Sorry, I should have been clearer. Yes, we accept attestations from NPC when they can't provide birth certificates and there is no other government-issued option. Hospital certificates are not acceptable.
Dear Vo,

Please i have question bothering me concerning birthday certificate my case is at NVC at the moment and they will need my birth certificate soon, the one i had from birth is the one from the hospital but for this immgration purpose it was advised that i should get my certificate from NPC, the issue now is i cannot be given a birth certificate because i was born before the commencement of that commission so what they are going to issue me is an attestation letter.

The question is will that be accepted by NVC and the embassy?

Secondly since it is going to carry a recent date will that be an issuehuh?

Thank you.

I have been confused about this 30th September which is the end of you people fiscal year. Pls can u explain more on that? Will it affect our case that is not yet completed

Dear Vo,

NVC request for my finger print, can i do it where i am staying or must it be in a particular place in Lagos.

Thanks.

VisaOfficer:
It's possible that there was a technical problem with your fingerprints, and so we need to take them again. It's also possible that more than a year has passed since you last swore an oath in front of an officer, or that you've turned 14 since your last interview, and now we need your fingerprints before we can proceed with your case.
TravelRe: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer by winnie123: 11:38am On Aug 11, 2015
Dear Vo,

Having mentioned the bellow, does CR-1 have to look for priority date for the case to be current?

VisaOfficer:
Your priority date is the date that your petition was filed with USCIS. But as an IR2, you don't need to worry about your priority date. As soon as your petition is approved and your case is documentarily complete, it will be scheduled for the next available interview. Immediate Relative (IR) cases are always current -- no waiting period.
TravelRe: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer by winnie123: 10:23pm On Aug 10, 2015
Dear Vo,

I can't open the Link you sent to me.

VisaOfficer:
You'll need to see one of our panel physicians for your medical paperwork. http://photos.state.gov/libraries/nigeria/487468/pdfs/PANELl_Phys_handout_Applicant.pdf has their contact information.

Hospital birth certificates aren't acceptable for immigration purposes, generally speaking. We prefer to see birth certificates issued by a government office, which in Nigeria typically means the NPC.
