A sub national government who’s capital budget for a year is barely above 1 billion dollars if not less considering the Naira devaluation. The budget to be spent on a population of more than 23 million people, very laughable. Johannesburg is budgeting close to 4 billion dollars for a population of just about 13 to 14 million folks and even that it’s still not sufficient according to the Provincial Government of Joburg and people are talking about the Lagos success story, what success story? The only thing keeping Lagos head above water is her population which draws businesses. Even the population In itself is increasingly depressed and lack that consumer spending power that it once had prior to 2015.
Lagos is not rich, it’s not even successful at the moment. It’s only looked promising on paper but that promise has been just that, a promise.
A population that is largely poor can’t make a city like Lagos rich.
