I paid my tuition fees of $4517.50 on Wednesday 30th July 2014 and I have sent the Telex copy via email to both the international office and registrars office. How long will it take to get the confirmation letter and also what are the next steps to follow after that. My name is Edem Umoh Bassey, U1403731. Umoh.duke14@gmail.com is my email address. Cheers
kindly wait for your confirmation letter from the university, then proceed to Turkish embassy website for the documents needed for visa and procedure. Wish u luck!

suxes2005: Read Mauritius is now visa free to Nigerian passport holders.

Someone should please confirm this.
NO is not free (you will pay for it at POE).......you can fly with Nigerian passport without visa and get one at point of entry after showing your valid hotel and means of sustenance during your stay. Beware, they are also quick to deport using the next available flight and also they have good records of tourist as most hotels passed the message to them as well....a Namibian person was on the verge of deportation at POE on my recent visit (last month).

virgindesy: oga wip , please am having little problem with the account details which am suppose to pay in my tuition but want to know if that how Turkish bank operate? the swift code of the account details sent to me has Bleep which I was told are suppose to be digits and it has prevented from paying my tuition up to now. is it necessary I get the digit or I can still send it with the Bleep?
Kindly visit good banks, you wont have issue with that or talk to more experienced bank officer some dont know these terms. The three alphabets are part of the swift. kindly send your payment with the alphabets and ensure the IBAN is around 24-26 digits and the swift is around 10-11 digits...from my experience thats how Turkish bank stuffs looks. Although i dont know about Aydin Uni account but most Turkish bank should look that way.

Sir,

am not so much interested in your Canadian history or financial status...am telling you as it is...am not one of those agents that claims anything since they just spent 1 semester at TRNC or just got approved as one of our agents...I am part of the system and i have worked in the topmost part of the system. Am not doubting your age but am telling you that applicants around 1989 will mostly be rejected but there is no harm when you try. If you so wish you can send me your documents or apply directly yourself via our website.

Kindly send me your olevel result, If you are born 1989...i doubt you will be admitted...This troubles started with some older Nigerian that only comes to the island for criminal related works, so the university felt the younger ones could be much focused since they think less of making money illegally....although on many occasions i have informed them since i have seen and witnessed the arrests of less than 22 yrs students that Yahoolized people over 400K usd....so the theory seems not to work.

Kindly send me olevel, intl passport, photopassport and state the program you wish.

What do u think if I back it up with my current Yabatech transcripts cos I'm presently schooling at Yabatech.. Don't forget to leave ur contact so that I can forward all d required docs for admission to u before deadline date.... Thanks
Good day sir, am just selective in questions i answer. Anyway, kindly let me know if you are less than 25yrs old? i doubt that since you have written your WAEC in 2005, you must be ranging around 30-40yrs. EMU will not admit you if you are above 25yrs age due to age limit. You may apply to CIU since CIU admit any age and maybe if you have a great transcript from CIU you may come as transfer student to EMU. Is there any other questions you wish to ask? i dont asnwer about jobs or how to cross to Turkey or south Cyprus pls be reminded.

Oligarki: Hello Wip
Well done, i have paid my school fees in June at CIU but my only challenge is that as required at the Turkish embassy to request for an appointment online.
I requested for an appointment on the 21st of july but i am yet to get a response from them uptill this moment... could it possibly be the Ramandan season because a friend at CIU said it normaly take within 24hours to respond however it was stated on their website that double application within one month would attract cancelllation without notice so therefore i am afraid of resending the mail.
Do anyone have the same issue here.
suggestions will be appreciated.
Turkish embassy will only respond or schools here will send name just a month to resumption. I dont know resumption date for CIU but for EMU is end of sept and class start October, so we can only send name sometime in August. Wait till they reply you maybe in August or sept.

gbengalite: The product is manufactured abroad and the client is only a major distributor in Nigeria.
If i know the product i may give specific docs, but the general documents are listed here:

1. Power of attorney

2. Certificate of analysis from the country

3. Certificate of manufacturer and free sale cert

4. Depends on the products about 5-12 samples will be needed.

5. Trademark cert ( You can get this in Abuja- less than 100K)

All must be notarized by the country approved Notary public. Official price per sample is N750K, so if it has sizes you will pay for the variants as well.

Its actually a long process and can last between 3months-1.5yrs.

My last product i registered took 7 months and i spent roughly 1.5M for the reg for a sample and 2 variants. Walk to Nafdac office they will help you more...wish gdluck

magni101: Then in that case I'll do that tomorrow.
Hope the fees that would reflect on the admission letter won't be different from the program with exempted courses?
I'm really relieved now and I can boldly and proudly say you have done well.
I'll apply now then bring the transcript when I'm coming to the school So that I can join the last three semesters and graduate on time.
I just hope it works out as you have said Coz there's no point starting afresh again and that the school will refer me to the proper program upon my arrival with the transcript.

I also have my statement of result/transcript for NECO but the Certificate will be brought when I am coming over coz I haven't gone back to collect it.
Hope that will be accepted?

Thanks for your time.
I think you deserve a token. I hope to see you there So that I can show my appreciation If you know what I mean.
Thanks again.
Yes your NECO result online print out is okay to secure your admission. Fees to be paid will be written on your offer letter. You wont have issues with reg, if am less busy then can help you with registeration.

Thanks for the token suggested, am financially and materially okay.....its free services no need to pay for it!!!.
TravelRe: North Cyprus by wip7: 8:47pm On Jul 20, 2014
magni101: Thanks again.
In other words you're suggesting that I should wait for my final exam and get the transcripts before applying?
What If I do it the way he did his and then on the day of registration, I present the transcript then get transferred to Information Technology Coz I don't want any delay at All Coz Aptech is fond of that.
If I'm given the admission, between now and 2nd week of September I should get the transcript and come over for registration but If I wait longer for the exam and transcript, I could miss the application deadline Which I am desperately trying to avoid.
What's your suggestion Coz I'm confused. I don't want to be mislead by anyone.

Please what's the infotech fees again Coz I didn't see it?

Finally, my friend applied with the intention of transferring Coz that's what he thought. The school's representative didn't elaborate on this and that's my anger. I don't think my friend will find it funny when I direct him to this site.
You can apply now with your olevel results, intl passport and photograph passport. You will be admitted and when you come along with your original transcripts then u can be exempted.
TravelRe: North Cyprus by wip7: 6:53pm On Jul 20, 2014
magni101: OK Thanks.
My classmate was given admission to study Software Engineering at EMU and I was surprised when you said that I'm gonna be admitted into the Information Technology program. just wanted to know why it's different coz we're both doing the same thing.
Your friend applied as a fresh applicant not as a transfer applicant....so he can be admitted into software eng program.

magni101: Secondly he used Aptech's testimonial to apply coz we haven't had our final exams yet coz we're expecting it between now and the end of August but I didn't want it to delay my admission status since we have a limited time. Can I also use the testimonial to apply?
As stated above, your friend was not exempted of any course becos he was admitted as a fresh applicant. To apply and be exempted as a transfer applicant, you or your friend will need FULL ACCP and ADSE transcripts. If you supplied those complete transcripts with good grades you will be will spend just 3 semesters here. Ask your friend to show you his admission including the exempted courses and if he does not have the exempted courses, simply means he will spend 4yrs. Incase he present his transcript during registration then he will be sent back to Info tech or get registered with less courses since APTECH has low number of engineering courses taught in ADSE.

magni101: I just found out that my classmate was asked to pay $4517 as an annual fee and then I added the accommodation fees Which is about $2000 then the cost of living as stated by you for a year is $2400 at $200 a month. All of that is about $10000. My question is, I want to know the estimated amount needed for everything including tuition, accommodation, books, registration, cost of living and flight cost to and fro during my stay in EMU for the three semesters. I need it coz I've been asked to get a general figure. Also what's the flight cost from Lagos to Cyprus.
The fees i gave you was for Infotech while software engr fees differ, kindly check the requested fees (tuition, accommodation) on our website. I dont know flight cost ( you can get that at any traveling agent store), you may not need books and use your calculator to do the maths.

magni101: Wip7 I'm glad that you have the time to respond to All of this questions asked and it's relieving to a lot of people like myself coz I intend to apply to EMU next week via the students international office but some questions where not clearly answered by the representative.
I'm an Aptech student here in Nigeria doing Advanced Diploma in Software Engineering and I'm rounding up this year and I intend to apply to further my studies at EMU.
I read the memorandum Aptech has with EMU regarding Aptech students and that we can continue to complete whatever we started at Aptech preferably join the final year.
My questions are:
1. what level will I join with my Advanced Diploma in Software Engineering Certificate.
Thanks to hear your interest to join EMU. In 2010, i was the one that introduced APTECH to EMU and i facilitated the memorandum with the head office in India with the help of EMU vice rector, so am quite aware of APTECH and courses exempted very welllllllllllllllll. When the agreement was signed then, it was 4 semesters student must spend but due to some courses and after seeing that UK university in Dubai and UK accept the student to finish within a year, then 3 semesters were suggested.

Since you have ADSE cert and transcript about 21 courses will be exempted for you but you will only be admitted into INFO TECH of EMU not software ENG since APTECH students have less of Engineering courses. Meaning that you will spend just 3 semesters with EMU.

magni101: 2. I'm fully aware of the fees for dorms and tuition etc. but I want to know the cost of living per month and Probably for the time I will be there since I intend to come there this year.
A reasonable person and average student with moderate lifestyle will be fine with 200USD monthly excluding the mentioned fees above.

magni101: 3. Which airline would you consider as best for take off from Nigeria to there considering that I stay in Calabar.
4. How many semesters am I going to spend at EMU before I complete my program.
5. I'd like to know the general cost of everything I would need for a year including fees, bills and cost of living because the website didn't state that.
No direct flight from Calabar, you have to travel from Your zone to Lagos and you can fly Turkish, emirate and other similar airlines. Turkish is the direct flight although could be expensive while others will have stop-overs at their country for some hours. EMIRATE is a great one also. You will need approx 6000USD for the 3 semesters, kindly check our website for accommodation of your choice and calculate for 3 semesters. Also multiply the cost of living mentioned above to know the additional cost.

magni101: 6. Can I pass through you to apply coz the other representative simply doesn't know how to outline it simply like you do or I should go ahead with that person.
Send me your complete APTECH transcript, olevel result, international passport page, photograph passport. You must be less than 25yrs old to be admitted. Also you must have atleast 5 credits in related subjects. Pls note: ensure your application docs must be sent to only me if there are multiple application, you will have issues with our system.

magni101: 7. Any additional advise concerning All of this coz I'm in between two decisions whether to choose Mauritius or TRNC considering that the above questions where properly answered as regards to the school over there but I seem to develop a soft spot for EMU.
please the level I would start from and the duration matters a lot to me and will be glad If you can elaborate that to my understanding bearing in mind the memorandum Aptech has with EMU. If you need to see it, I could direct you to a link I saw concerning the Agreement Aptech has with EMU.
Thanks.
No dont bother about APTECH link i have over 100% info about that, i was instrumental to its existence at EMU. You will start at 2.5 yrs and spend additional 1.5 yrs to finish the program provided you wont fail any courses. Since 2012, 65% of the APTECH students we have at EMU from Nigeria proved to either purchase the result or paid the lecturer to grade them. They do fail major courses like database development etc, in same 2012, increased scrutiny of the students were in placed and if you have poor grades in major infotech programs you will have to repeat them. If you actually attended APTECH in a good center and knows what you were taught you wont have probs otherwise....

I am quite conversant with Mauritius, the fees could be far cheaper than EMU but i doubt if you can spend 3 semesters with your APTECH, the programs overthere are 3yrs both accommodation and tuition are low if you are admitted into government-based university like UTM.

ukraine55: Life is tough, racism here is even more than that of europe, the people here are purely evil, like i said earlier if you are here to spend your hard earn money, you are welcome but to struggle with Mauritian for a job slot you are in for for the shock of your life
If you eventual got the job, u can't last, they will make sure u abandon the work
This is not a kind of big deal job, the job i am talking about here is in the construction line doing some kind of help and minor jobs in restaurant.
There also comes the high living cost with accommodation eating deep from your pocket.
Waow waow....you must be going through some sort of hardies over there..which of the university are you and which part do you live??...I do wish you well. Here is a little i can say about Mauritius, i live far away and only visit but i gat kidbro there.

I visited Mauritius twice last year and just left also with my kid bro. I am sponsoring his education at UTM. His own story differs from yours. Also when i visited i prefer the place and environment to many places i have been. Initially i wanted him to come over to study where i am but i happened to found UTM when i traveled for a conference. The university fees are so low and cheap (1430usd) for the program compared to my end and programs are run under 3years. I visited the university and met with the Head, i was informed its a government university and i love the courses and programs they offer.

I did not have a doubt and i was told they are accepting Nigerian at the first time for the program but they do have some others. I submitted his application and after 3 months he was granted admission and i was asked to pay 1540usd for fees and reg. The university requested for some docs to process his visa, within weeks i was notified he can travel. The only issue i had was selecting flight for him. That was his first time traveling and i found south African airways cheaper but i have read alot how most times the South African do have issues with Nigerian and i even called the customer care of the Airline but sounded rude that he needs visa but i told him the university said he will be granted on arrival. I decided to buy emirate for him and he enjoyed it to the core.

Before he left i have found a house for him, its a 1 bedroom furnished with internet and gas to my surprise i have to pay around 25K Naira monthly so i quickly pay for 6 months. I spoke with the Landlord since it was the university that suggested the house and he seems polite. My kidbro left and he was welcomed well. I dont want him to work nor look for any job so asked him to look around, buy things and evaluate how much he can spend monthly as a reasonable boy. His university already issued him Transport pass so he can take free ride home anytime and he concluded he will be more than fine with 200USD monthly....thats what i send him monthly. Ever since the only complains he has were food, he seems not to find the right food and electronics seems expensive becos i have to purchase some for him from the US.

He does not go out much nor have friends mostly at home after his skool so has never complained about racism and since he does not work or look for one he does not know about the labour market or the struggle over there. To me, i think if a student is going purely for education and he/she has a sponsor wont have any issue and the education is not bad atleast for selected programs that are somehow lacking in Nigeria.

Lansdx: Hello,

I've decided to post here because this seems like great place for information on studying in North Cyprus.

I am Sudanese national continuing my studies and applying for my Masters this fall (God willing). I've studied hard gaining a 3.5/4 GPA in Information Technology. One of the most things important to me is the accreditation of the universities because I plan on moving to the States after my studies. I'm primarily looking into two choices right now..

- Girne American University
- Eastern Mediterranean University

I see GAU is accrediated by the IACBE for its Master's program and EMU by ABET for it's bachelor degrees. From their website I couldn't tell if their Masters program are accredited by a US agency. Anyone have an idea?

If there is anyone out there with past experiences with these institutions? Are Turkish Cypriots receptive to Arab/Africans? I would very much appreciate hearing your input.

Much appreciated
hey happy to learn u wish to continue your program here at EMU.

First the issue of TRNC recognition has not hinder or limited various graduates of EMU from prospering and advancing further in their studies in many advanced countries, USA inclusive. In fact we have about 28 collaborations and exchange agreements with reputable universities in North America (US and Canada) which, you can find under EMU exchange weblinks.

As you might have known or read that ABET accreditation is primarily done in USA to recognize universities that passed the infrastructural and program content-based criteria set by the body. Also ASIIN is accreditation for European technology and management universities based in Germany....you have to read about that also. EMU programs are fully accredited by these boards.

Finally, note that EMU was the first and highly government sponsored university established after the political embargo on TRNC and the university has received considerable and increasing support from Turkish Government, currently we have about 8 hostel complex worth millions of dollars under construction from Turkish governt.

About African arabs from Sudan, we do have sizeable number of them here and have an association formed to represent each country/region. Every country has their social and cultural norms, international students integration to a new socio-cultural settings must follow the hierarchy of adaptation theory. So most Intl student may/may not have shock depending on various integration competence level of the incoming students.

If you do have more questions kindly ask here and you may email me as well for any support. I work with EMU and have extensive experience with the students which have been culminated from my sojourn in other countries and TRNC.

What is this "Illegal operation" issue with Some schools in Nothern Cyprus with EMU inclusive?
Are there negative effects on graduate students from the schools listed?
Kindly read the article well to understand what it means, it will be advisable for you to visit the universities website in TRNC to check their status and recognition as well.

I sent another request to be offered Computing and Info.Technology. I really do not know if I'll be lucky but I wish to ask the possibility of switching to Elect Elect department when I resume i.e during the February period.
Pls respond.
The reason for your rejection was stated and as far as am aware EMU does not offer bachelor program in computing and info tech....yeah is possible for you to transfer to department of your choice if you earn good grades after a semester. Goodluck!

monsurx2: @wip7 I so much appreciate your contribution.
I recently got a 100% scholarship to pursue a straight PhD (without MSc) at a University at Istanbul. The offer includes; accomodation, access to library and fitness facilities, meals, personal laptop and a monthly stipend (as stated on my offer letter). The university had sent a hard copy of the offer letter to me and had also mailed the turkish embassy including my offer letter as an attachment (I was copied in the mail as well). Here are my questions- Best regards,
monsurx2: (a) do I still need to provide a bank statement inspite of the scholarship including a guarantee letter and other miscellaneous documents partaining to sponsorship during interview at the embassy?
You dont need to provide the bank statement provided the scholarship/grant does not have condition/s. Some of the grants do have conditions which could be some CGPA, article publications or certain workload that need to be met to continue maintaining the scholarship. So if it has no clause kindly provide the original scholarship offer alongside your offer letter and other required documents excluding the bank statement if no condition but including the bank statement if there is a condition. To serve as a plus you may support your application with bank statement whatever the amount that shows if anything happen to the scholarship board you can still survive.

monsurx2: (b) I had booked an appointment with the embassy since 17th of june. Till this day, I've got no response. In view of this, I sent another reservation on the 2nd of july. Am I in the right track?
The semester starts Sept 2014, so June is too early to attend to applicants since visa with only 1 month validity will be issued. It is not advisable to send multiple application to the embassy as stated on their website.

imaxo: Can I transfer from EMU to METU after one year of Undergraduate study i.e with a good cumulative grade?
Where you are transferring from (EMU) has nothing to do where you are transferring to (METU), look up METU admission about requirement for transfer applicants to see what they required interms of CGPA and results needed.

imaxo: As I said, my friend there in EMU wishes to help me followup my admission so i do not want to drop him aside after all the conversations I had with him. As an experienced person in this regard, I would really appreciate you advice if there is/are anything he needs to do to enable me get an admission with a good discount(50%) as a fresher.
Yes you can apply via your friend but be aware that your friend is a student and will have 0.000000001% influence on admission and scholarship. Our admission is based on merit and results.

imaxo: Hello WIP,

My WEAC results were not good enough though: How are the points calculated pls. Here are my results:
Econs c4, English c5, Maths c6, Phy c6, Agric B3, Chem c5, Bio c6.

Can I get an automatic 50% discount on entry into EMU?

Can I get a discount for METU NCC?

Also, immediately after my secondary school education I ran a 2yrs program on Software development in Karrox Nigeria and made 65.2% (Upper credit). Although I believe I can apply as a transfer student with a discount cos my friend entered through that means to continue an Information Tech course for only 2.5yrs. So with my results (WAEC and/ or Karrox ), can I get a discount (25% or 50%) to study Elect Elect from year 1 in METU NCC or EMU? I don't have much passion for Info Tech.

Regards.
Yeah your result is poor, METU will not admit you cos you have 26 points which is far above METU admittable standard. So you dont need to apply to METU cos u will just waste your application fees since is non-refundable. EMU may admit you and i was once in charge of EMU scholarship, based on your result i may not issue you more than 25% scholarship then. But now, the criteria is slightly different so you may get 25 or 50% from EMU but EMU will not accept KARROX transcript for software eng you may apply to Elect if you wish.
