Indeed. We talk about democracy yet Nigerian politicians don't believe in that nor practice it. Many came into office for selfish reasons meaning they are always ready to swallow anyone standing in their way if they can destroy or dominate them.

This is why at the highest level (President or Governor) you cannot be weak nor take prisoners. Tinubu must move with a tight crew that cannot be compromised. To include, most importantly, a leader of the legislative arm 100% loyal to him.

For example, what PBAT is doing to El Rufai is what must be done to show two important things. (1) Tinubu is a strong and authoritative President of the biggest black nation on Earth.

With NDC splitting opposition votes, APC has a greater chance for reelection come 2027. Except ADC loses its cases, and it is deregistered or leadership handed over to Nafiu Bala Gombe, the opposition will again split its about 16m votes into two and hand presidency back to Tinubu.

Come 2031, power will shift to the North naturally, meaning Obi cannot contest. The coast would then be clear for Kwankwaso and Atiku to slug it out.

My suggestion to Obi and NDC is this, reenergise the opposition by rekindling the coalition. Otherwise, as it was in 2023, wherein LP coukd not man 40% of it polling units, NDC does not seem to have the structure to checkmste APC at the polls, so we are heading to the same argument of "we won, but our votes were stolen". As for Atiku, he should also put Nigeria interest above self. If AA feels the country is drifting into nothingness, he could shelve his ambition 2027, support a united opposition under NDC .
