There will be no real protest in Lagos. This is for the following main reasons:
1. The Ibos are not protesting, they are a substantial part of the population and they are usually the ones without filter who express themselves openly and lead protests.
2. The yorubas on the other hand are divided into two: the educated and uneducated. The educated ones are also roughly divided into two, those who support the president and those who do not. Those who do not, need the ibos to spearhead the protest for them to follow. While for the uneducated, they wholly support the govt. So in total, three-quarters of yorubas in lagos support the govt.

Let me expand the net and add the following reason :
Conquest: A loyal, dotting, loving man is a conquered man. The woman feels no spark as you've become predictable. The begging will then turn to frustration and anger cos she thought you were a soft conquered man and after quarrelling and even insulting you for not being man enough to handle a woman and all other jabs at your ego, you will still stand your ground, she will turn nasty, then later back to begging... But you're resolute.
Then after she eventually leaves, you take your time, meet someone new and start a new relationship. This time, you habe learnt. Some people, especially ladies will try to coax you into making the same mistake by saying you are now bitter, that all women are not the same... But they are and you're not making a mistake, You are simply paying attention to the psychology of relationships.
In this new relationship, you ensure you are not conquered, by maintaining a healthy balance at all times. For instance, nothing wrong in your wife seeing other women desire you, as against you behaving like a pope. Nothing wrong in being a little traditional as against you behaving like a simp in the name of being a modern man, etc etc.

Reading through comments, I think alot of people are mixing things up: the topic isn't about migration as a whole, the topic is specific as to why successful women are less likely to give up their success here and migrate than successful men are doing.
Someone said the statistics is not true, maybe that person should provide the true statistic. But in the meantime, OP, myself and alot of other commenter can relate, and statistics is about population sampling.
Back to the topic: for me, I think, men, especially in this part of the world have long been manipulated with a mixture of flattery and shaming to always sacrifice themselves for their women. This is being packaged as a sacrifice for the "family" i.e the kids. This has driven many men to early graves. Leaving those women to enjoy everything. The kids were just decoys... The fatherly death rate is highest especially in the parts of the country where they fiercely promote men as bread winners and women as stay at home wives. It is still this same flattery and shaming that is making successful men take that plunge of giving up their success here to go abroad.

Yes i agree that men should be more sacrificial but only for traditional women who are submissive. With the current wave of equality, it has become untenable. Men do all this but are still not appreciated nor reverred. The consensus among modern women is that men are agents of oppression and slave masters. Why then do we keep sticking our necks out?

I became troubled in my spirit when i began to look into the current emigration wave. Nigeria has never been rosy. If you go back to comments right from the inception of nairaland, you would see thesame expressions of frustration with the state of things, so what changed? I theorize as follows:

1. It’s partly fueled by a massive propaganda machine by the west. It’s highly suspect that the country has suddenly become unbearable at thesame time these western countries are experiencing shortages in workforce, increasing ageing population etc. What a convenient coincidence. It’s well known that the west uses propaganda via media as a means to achieve their selfishness.

2. This is closely related to point 1. The massive demarketing of the country by sponsored agents is a ploy to lure highly skilled workers to take on blue collar jobs abroad. Imagine how prosperous Nigeria would be if kazeem who is a mechanic has a phD? Imagine if your office janitor is a CFA holder? He would surely add more value to that role. Highly qualified citizens of their country would never take up such roles but they are able to lure immigrants to do this for their own selfish benefit.

3. Less successful wives of successful men. The new trend is that the children are nolonger secure in Nigeria once the man is the bread winner. These short sighted men buy into the ploy but at the heart of it is just the quest for economic emancipation for the woman, at the expense of the man if need be. A female medical doctor would never relocate to become a carton packer abroad. She would rather tarry till she gets something more rewarding and of equal or higher status. Once she gets this, she has no problem with her high status husband resigning to become a forklifter abroad while she thrives in her white collar job under the guise of securing the future of the kids. I have seen this in my own family. It’s a ruthless game of power exchange.

4. Be careful who you listen to online because there are many anti state actors. Some are members of terrorist groups, others are aggrieved because their candidates lost the elections, etc. An account of the state of things from such people would definitely be different from that of a patriotic citizen. The danger here is, you slowly become what you read and so many people are being converted on a daily basis by those with an agenda. Yes things are hard but it has always been the case.

5. Losers who have squandered their lives. When this bunch were in school, they were the cultists etc and they graduated with poor grades. Unfortunately, their voices are the loudest when it comes to demarketing of Nigeria. You hear them say things like “ Nigeria to the dogs” etc. This bunch would gladly throw thesmselves at any opportunity abroad as a means of escape from their own failure, till they get there and fail again.

6. I refer to this set of people as victims. They aren’t in any of the categories above but they bought the propaganda either due to peer pressure or lack of an independent mind.
