Henrywill247: The 2019 Presidential election have become a very big fight between two parties APC & PDP or better still between Buhari and Atiku. The both of them are in Curt base on the petition sued against the ruling party APC on the conduct of the last concluded Presidential election. PDP has so far presented charges and witnesses amounting to 400 of them and out of these only 40 have been revealed and these 40 revealed, most have not been cleared. And remember, the charges and witnesses must be coming strategically in the sense that the more they reveal, the more dangerous it becomes.
So having seen all of these things and harmonizing it very well in your mind. What do you think will be the outcome of this case in Curt?

cyclops: Wole Soyinka, has insisted that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration has failed.
According to him, the problems confronting Nigeria were beyond Buhari.
Soyinka stated this while playing host to students who paid him a visit on his 85th birthday.
The literary icon made it clear that while state governments differ in success rates, “central government has failed”.
“The problems of this nation are beyond the solution that can be offered by this government, that’s the first admission; they have to stop thinking in partisan government.
“There has always been a major problem with successive governments. It’s easier on the state level to say that a particular state is definitely doing better than another state.
But the central government has failed, that’s my view in the main. “There is a minimal level which any government which has been elected to power must achieve to be considered a true representative of the people.
“Look at what’s happening today with the cattle all over the place, that’s a security issue which....

Politics › Re: Nigeria Yet To Attain Self-sufficiency In Rice Production, Says Osinbajo by WonderManly(m): 6:36am On Jul 15, 2019 |
edunwablog: Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said the country is yet to attain self-sufficiency in rice production. He was speaking at the 4th National Discourse organized in Lagos by The Companion, an association of Muslim Men in Business and the Professions themed ‘Food Security: Unleashing Nigeria’s Natural Potential for self Sufficiency’.
“We used to import $5 million of rice every day. Although local rice is enhancing the economy, it is still more expensive than imported rice,” he said. Professor Osinbajo said that countries normally place subsidy on their rice to make it less expensive.
His words: “We are still at the point where we can do so much better. Once we are able to mill our rice, then we can compete with imported rice in terms of pricing.”Immediate past governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, described Nigeria as a very poor nation that needed to stand up against corruption and improve on food security.
At the National Discourse, he stated that high concentration and investment on crude oil was melting the economy without meeting the demands of Nigerians and world markets. Reacting to the country’s downward slope in agricultural development, president of Nigerian Academy of Engineering (NAE) and pioneer vice-chancellor of the University of Uyo, Professor Fola Lasisi, expressed displeasure over the country’s inability to achieve food security.
Osinbajo also said that a modern nation where there is peace and progress could only be built on righteousness, which could only be achieved when the citizens were ready to pay the price. He made the point as a special guest at the 50th-anniversary Lecture, Award, and Dinner of Shepherdhill Baptist Church, Obanikoro, Lagos.
The vice president noted that one of the reasons systemic corruption had been prevalent in Nigeria was because Nigerians were not ready to fight it. He disclosed that often, relatives of criminals, including religious leaders, had been in the habit of soliciting for them to be released, instead of allowing them to face the consequence of their misdeeds to serve as a deterrent.
Pastor of the Church, Rev. Israel Kristilere, said: “We believe that the Church needs to do more than what she has been doing in building the nation, not just being pessimistic, but optimistic and move into action. “We will continue to stand for the truth which exalts the nation, and the Church should be able to assist the government in carrying out its duties through godly advice.”

"We need to get the story straight. The way they operated, according to the police in Ore, it is the way Fulani herdsmen operate. "Six people were in front and shooting at them. Politics › Re: Insecurity: I ‘ll Continue To Prioritise Military Training – Buhari by WonderManly(m): 12:07pm On Jul 14, 2019 |
sophsia62: President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday said the Federal Government would continue to give priority to the training of officers and men of the armed forces to effectively tackle security challenges in the country.
Buhari made the commitment during the graduation of 207 Students of Senior Course 41 of the Armed Force Command Staff College (AFCSC) in Jaji, Kaduna State.
“This is not only because we salute their courage and sacrifice to improve the security of our country but also because the armed forces have continued to be the beacon of unity in the country.
“I must again commend the armed forces, who continue to provide prompt responses to the numerous security challenges facing our country.
“Your response to Boko Haram insurgency, banditry, militancy, kidnapping as well as the activities of several armed groups among others have been very commendable,’’ he said.
Buhari said the Nigerian armed forces had also committed good resources toward stability of the West African sub-region and world peace.
He noted that the grandaunts had passed through several aspects of training in leadership, public security, command and staff functions to prepare them for the challenges ahead.
“With such an investment in you, the nation expects the very best from you in terms of your commitment to your duties, loyalty and service to your fatherland,” he said.
“The president urged them to make honest contributions to the discharge of the constitutional responsibilities of the armed forces and be good ambassadors of the college.
Some 207 students, comprising 87 Nigerian Army, 58 Nigerian Navy, 40 Nigerian Air Force officers, nine personnel from Ministries, Department and Agencies and 13 international students from allied countries graduated from the college.
The president noted that the college was now well respected globally.
“It is the reflection of commitment, discipline, work ethics and high moral and academic standards that the college has maintained over the years.
“It is my pleasure to observe that there are 13 international officers from 11 African countries and Republic of South Korea, who have successfully completed the course.
“This is an improvement on the number of international students and I believe that in the coming years, this number will still increase significantly as the excellent reputation of the college is increasing around the world”, the President said.

Politics › Re: Herdsmen Convert Ondo Forest Reserve Into Militia Camp - Punch by WonderManly(m): 6:05am On Jul 14, 2019 |
Staro: Fresh facts emerged on Saturday that herdsmen have converted the Ondo Government reserve located in the Odigbo Local Government Area into a militia camp.
This indication buttressed the widespread claim that killers of Mrs Funke Olakunrin, 58-year-old daughter of the leader of pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, were herdsmen who sneaked out of the reserve to rain bullets on the vehicle she was travelling in. Olakunrin was killed on Friday as the gunmen ambushed vehicles on the highway and abducted some commuters. Her maid reportedly sustained some gunshot injuries during the attack.
Killers of Fasoranti’s daughter have their base in the forest, say villagers
A former senator who represented Ondo South Senatorial District at the Senate, Boluwaji Kunlere, said hoodlums had been operating around where Olakunrin was killed for a long time.
He said this in an interview with one of our correspondents in Lagos on Saturday.
Kunlere said, “I beefed up security in the area when I was in the Senate. I gave 13 Hilux vans to the police divisions in Ondo South Senatorial District and gave motorcycles to the Department of State Services for surveillance.
“I think the police do not have the manpower to ensure adequate security in the area. The expressway (Benin-Ore-Sagamu Expressway) is where the major problem is. The spot (Kajola) where they killed Baba Fasoranti’s daughter falls between Odigbo and Okitipupa Local Government territory.
“The people living close to the area said Fulani herdsmen had taken over that area and there was a time a bishop was abducted and the police rescued him in that area. Herdsmen are all over the forest. We see them between Omotosho and Igbotako. They graze their cows on the road and strike and they run back to the bush.
“They have been operating there for long but the attack on Baba Fasoranti’s daughter was given a wide publicity because of the man’s influence. The downtrodden have been suffering there for long. There was a time that they exchanged gunfire with the police between Omotosho and Ore in the afternoon and they ran away when they discovered that the police would overpower them. “When they attacked Chief Olu Falae’s farm then, the police said it was bush burning because of the fear of Abuja. They want to attribute this killing to armed robbers but the locals are saying the killers are herdsmen.
Some residents of Kajola town in the Odigbo council area who spoke with SUNDAY PUNCH insisted that some Fulani herdsmen terrorising the area were residing in the forest in the area.
One of the residents identified only as Mr Ola said the herdsmen behaved as if they were above the law, adding that it was not the first time they would perpetrate the act in the area.
He said, “They destroy our farms at will. Their cows always eat up many of our farm produce. We have reported several times to the police but no action was taken. We heard gunshots yesterday (Friday) and it is a common thing in the area. We call on the government to provide adequate security to protect our lives and property.’’
Also, a farmer in Kajola village who gave his name only as Mr Aliu, also said bandits had invaded forests surrounding the village.
He said there had been many criminal activities going on in the forest and nobody stopped them.
Aliu said, “The herdsmen that struck on the expressway yesterday (Friday) stay in the forest around the area. That is not their first time and that is how they operate. We have reported to security agents but nothing has been done about it. We are helpless. Government should come to our aid.”
Another resident who spoke on condition of anonymity also reiterated that the reserve in the Odigbo council area had been inhabited for long by herdsmen.
He said though the reserve belonged to the government, community members now use the place for farming.
The resident, who is a prominent member of the National Association of Odigbo Local Government Students, said herdsmen rampage started in the area at the same time it became rampant in the country.
He said, “Villagers are aware of the activities of herdsmen in the area. There was a time herdsmen cut the wrist of a farmer who confronted them when they took their cows for grazing on his farm.
“The DPO of Ore Police Station intervened in the matter and spoke with members of the community. The vigilantes have had to confront them many times. The vigilantes later constructed a shed in the community and take turns to ensure security in the area. This is a development that is known to people in the community.’’

Freegift75: The daughter of one of the Afenifere leaders was reportedly killed by stray bullet along kajola/Ore road. Accoring to the account of the driver to the victim who was also escaped the scene, he never attributed the killing to the Fulani herdamen.
We allow hatred to Buhari and tribalism to blindfold our thinking faculty so that we arrogate all crime perpetration to the fulani herdsmen.
Many of us who ply the Benin/Ore/Ijebu Ode highway know quite well that armed robbers do operate along that axis. And most of these robbers are not fulani.
Though Mrs fasoranti was just unfortunate to had been hit by the robbers bullets. I am a living testimony to the dreadful manners in which armed robbers operate there.
There was a time my car fell into the trap along this axis, just about a kilometer to the police checking ppint, but unfortunately the police at the check point felt relunctant to even attempt intervening in the siege that day.
Those guys who perpetrate most of these attrocities may not be fulani but because we all hate Buhari, we tend to accusse the fulani.
Some Ibo and Yoruba boys do rob along that axis. Lets try to get the fact correct before inciting ethnic war.
What doesn’t make sense is the call for an ethnic war. Many of those shouting war songs may not be able to identify a Fulani man when they see one. And when we shout war, are we just going to start looking through our streets and forests for the next Fulani man to kill? Which civil war are we actually talking about?
