The Visa fee is just that. TB. test is separate and extra.

3 to 4 days stay is a short time so be ready to explain what you want to do.
Why are you spending all that money to travel for a few days?

You can book a hotel online without a deposit.
What you must check is that the booking remains valid for your interview and point of entry.
Some hotels cancel the booking if nou contacted or pait within a certain time.

In my honest honest opinion, I wouldn't say that Sheffield is heavily industrialized,

Sheffield used to be the heart of British industrial power. The city was an early source of steel and continued up untill the 1960s as a major producer of steel and as a manufacturing centre for heavy industry. (Leading to thousands of well paid jobs.)
All that, ( or most of it) has gone now with the steel and mining finished and the sites cleared, mostly for shopping centres.
It is now cheaper to buy steel from China and coal from Poland, all the jobs have gone. embarassed

The plus side is that the air pollution has gone now! cheesy

Use the latest statement. If you use an old statement it is simple for the VO to work out that you are hiding something.
They will check and if they see figures that do not match with what you have told them it can be a ban.
They have ways of checking bank accounts, do not believe that everything is confidential!

You should apply to a few more schools as well. The visa officers like to ask why you pick a school or which other schools you applied to.
Be prepared to defend your decision with facts.

Your problem will be finding out about job vacancies or getting your CV to companies for consideration.
It would be best to do a lot of preparation, research and possibly contacting people from home before travelling.
Once there do not fall into the hands of touts, agents and friends!

A PHD on top of a degree is going to cost a LOT of money, that will put a lot of people off.
A PHD in a good subject from a good school is almost certain to gain employment but it still takes a long time to earn back the cost of schooling.
Choose the wrong subject or poor school and you can still end up selling yams in the market, even with a PHD.

And what are the questions asked about your previous travelling experience ?

If you already have a new (genuine) passport then don't worry about the old one.
Just tell the truth if you are asked, don't try to get too complicated with your story, just the facts.
