The last is yet to be heard about President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua's health. The Save Nigeria Group (SNG) yesterday said it would embark on mass action from March 10 to ensure that constitutionality is restored in the country.

The mass action will be followed by a nationwide civil disobedience aimed at protesting the current political situation in the country, the group said.

SNG's planned action comes a few days after the Executive Council of the Federation (EXCOF), National Assembly, leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Governors Forum successfully stopped any attempt to debate, start an impeachment process or declare Yar'Adua incapacitated.

The group said it was particularly disappointed by EXCOF for colluding with governors to stop the invocation of Section 144 of the 1999 Constitution, meant to determine the fitness of the President to continue in office.

Speaking on behalf of the group in Abuja, Mallam Salihu Lukman, said SNG would roll out a series of actions to “retrieve the country from the iron fisted clutches of the cabal”.

This is in demonstration of their readiness to put an end to the reign of illegality, he argued.
Lukman disclosed that the first in the series “is a mass movement to convey the feelings of Nigerians to the next meeting of the EXCOF in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Wednesday, March 10, 2010.

“This shall be a prelude to other forms of nationwide civil disobedience measures to put a final closure to the shenanigans of the cabal and enforce electoral reforms to ensure that we are no longer with in the old days”.
The group called on Nigerians to join hands to bring about this desired change. “We are in for a sustained and focused struggle to end the second slavery.

We do not promise that this road will not be rough; it is just that there is no other way if we are committed to salvaging our country. But one thing we are absolutely sure is that victory is certain,” he said.

The group said that the actions of the Governors’ Forum and EXCOF in the last 72 hours are clear indications to Nigerians that it is dealing with selfish and irrational people who would not follow the path of reason and save the nation from needless crises.

The group warned that Nigerians are running out of patience as there are limits to how far a country can survive on good luck. It called for a constitutional resolution to the “anomaly of an invisible President co-existing with an Acting President constantly undermined by the cabal by the invocation of Section 144 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria without further delay.”

It urged the Acting President to constitute a non-partisan transitional cabinet of the brightest and the best from all corners of Nigeria to chart a new course for the country.

Also present at the briefing were the leader of SNG, Pastor Tunde Bakare; President of West Africa Bar Association, Mr. Femi Falana; Mr. Tanko Yinusa; Mr. Jimmy Agbaje; Mr. Tola Ayo-Adeyemi; Mrs. Joe Okei-Odumakin; Mr. Yinka Odumakin; Mr. Willy Ezeugwu; Mr. Osita Okechukwu, Nagatu Moha-mmed; and Shehu Sani.

it's no longer news that woye77 aka myself has just been allowed back online after a 120 hour ban. It seems strange 'cause i erroneously developed the idea that i had suddenly become "too big" to be banned - as a regular contributor, fast growing in popularity.

May i say one or two things about the so-called ban - i believe majority of contributors on this site are adults and it is quite condescending and patronising to treat them as kids. It beats my imagination that a word like s_x can be considered to be offensive in a morden day setting when it could actually represent gender, whereass the word sexually is no censored - it's hard to understand the reasoning behind that

what's more, a 200 million-member website like facebook does not see any need to censor words, is it not strange that a website like nairaland that is less than 1 million feels it is justified to do so. I feel Seun Osewa and all the so-called moderators feel they are doing people a favour by allowing them unto the site - wrong thinking! it is the people on the site who are doing Nairaland a favour because without people like myself and other contributors, there would be no nairaland. And there are thousands of blogging sites out there.

Needless to say, i still found a way to be on the site for the duration of the ban but i feel it's high time Nairaland and it's operators are told the bitter truth - if you like, you can ban me again nuff said - oshi o daa nilee pako!

Why are you people misinterpreting publications to innocent people in this forum,it is true that the US envoy went to Minna to see IBB but it was not disclosed to us as at press time what was discussed,mind you it was before the Nigerian Senate made the resolution of making Vice President Goodluck Jonathan as the Acting President.
But it was however gathered that the primary reason was to prevent a coup d'tat and not to bring IBB as president.Those who went to see him included the Assistant secretary of states(Africa)and the United States Ambassador to Nigeria.

On the other hand, it can be revealed that some close aides of the President have suggested that the first lady invites a controversial Nigerian pastor and healer, one T.B Joshua, to heal the ailing president. The man in question, T.B Joshua, a Christian televangelist with a cult-like following has been widely accused by critics of using satanic powers to bring healing to people with all sorts of complicated sicknesses and diseases. Close Muslim friends of the ailing president have been urging the first lady to invite the man of God to try healing the president.

The President has not said a single word since the 24th of November 2009 when he travelled to Saudi-Arabia, and even when it was reported in the Nigerian media on Thursday that the President had instructed that Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan continued serving as Acting president, it was not actually the ailing president who gave the directive, but the first lady Turai Yaradua who is seriously beginning to worry about the fact that Nigerians are becoming more and more apprehensive about her manoeuvres to keep her husband on the seat of power despite his frail condition.

But the medical practitioners have warned that the President may have at most, one month to live. This is what the first lady is keeping away from the public. Except some miracle happens, Nigeria´s president may not survive till April 2010, and Turai Yaradua is desperate.

On  Tuesday the Presidential spokesman, Ima Niboro in a statement said there were grand designs by those he tagged ‘ungodly and wicked’ to pull down the administration of Jonathan. On Thursday a national daily (The Sun) carried a front page smear campaign flavored with sundry baseless accusations, innuendoes and allegations all in an apparent attempt to undermine the integrity of the Acting President.

The plot, sources hinted Pointblanknews.com, is to ensure a return to the status quo( Yar’Adua),  protect their positions, avert possible prosecutions, and avoid any look in  skeleton laden closets. Pointblanknews.com learnt that between December 2009 and January 2010, billion naira contracts have been awarded or renewed by some ministers and head of agencies without recourse to Jonathan while he was Vice President. 

Specifically, a multi-Billion Dollar oil lifting contract was said to have been renewed without any presidential approval by the cabal loyal to ailing President Yar’Adua

The mind set was, Yar’Adua will be back, even if he has to be brought back wired up and in a wheel chair. This also informed the desperation by some ministers, Governors, and National Assembly members to stall the emergence of Jonathan.   

Top security sources told pointblanknews.com on Thursday night that this intensely sinister cabal has already incorporated the Power and Steel minister, Lanre Babalola. His role is to ensure a well coordinated sabotage of the oil and gas sectors.

Babalola is expected to ensure the current fuel scarcity and blowing up of pipeline does not abate.

people sometimes make the comment 'destiny can never be changed' how true is this? i've been curious about this for a long time - for those of us who believe in destiny, when someone is destined to achieve a particular goal, does that person need to do anything to make it happen or it will come to pass no matter what?

there is a cousin of mine who has been dating this lady for one year. He is 28 while the lady is 30. They both love themselves and the lady wants marriage but my cousin is afraid of tying the knot because he believes the lady might not respect him because she is older. Former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, may end up being the beneficiary of the raging political crisis and the seeming rot in governance of Nigeria if the wave of local and international pressures on him to contest the 2011 presidential election is anything to count on.



Saturday Tribune gathered during the week that some diplomats from the United States and Britain, who were in the country, had met with the former head of state in Minna and Abuja, entreating him to consider featuring in the next presidential election.

If Babangida eventually agrees to the request, he will be doing so on the understanding that he will be representing northern interest in the election amid doubts that President Yar’Adua will be strong enough to withstand the rigours of contesting the next election.

Some of the foreign diplomats were reported to have met Babangida for the first time when they joined sympathisers who trooped to his Hilltop mansion in Minna to condole with him on the death of his wife, Mariam.

Babangida, who was in Abuja last week, according to findings, hosted well-wishers, said to have opened up to him on their wish to see him return to power in 2011 based on his experience in the rulership of Nigeria and strong belief that he would re-launch a robust governance in Nigeria.

ST can also report that some members of the National Assembly, who were rooting for Babangida to contest the next presidential election, had communicated to him, their interest in offering support if he decided to join the race.

The United States, according to findings, was keen on installing a more experienced Nigerian as the next president of the country, as a way of preventing political uncertainty like one currently arising essentially from the incapacitation of President Yar’Adua.

The sudden interest of the international community in IBB for 2011, it was learnt, presupposed that both Britain and US were now prepared to overlook the blunder of the annulment of June 12, 1993 presidential election made by the military government he headed, and upon which he was declared persona non-grata by the western countries.

The interest of the western powers in the next presidential election may, however, not be unconnected with the judgment of failure that both the US and Britain had passed on the present civilian government, even amid political uncertainty in the country.

It is not certain yet whether Babangida had agreed to the arrangement to draft him into the presidential race.

Babangida, according to Saturday Tribune’s investigations, had dropped the ambition to contest any presidential election in the country, his last attempt having ended up in failure owing to alleged efforts by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to bar him from the race.
