i've always imagined this - it seems some ladies especially 9ja ladies become unduely paranoid after getting married - hardly can you talk 5mins with them without hearing things such as 'my husband will not allow this, my husband will not allow that' 'oh, you know i can't do that i'm married' 'i'm a married lady' "marriage this, marriage, that" - why do some people act as though marriage is a glorified prison? ![]() |

viaro: viaro: Traugott:@viaro and traugott what have you got to say about Matthew 23:23 - at least that was Jesus speaking in the new testament hear him "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier provisions of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness; but these are the things you should have done without neglecting the others please make a note of the highlighted verse Jesus makes it clear that the old testament principles of tithing must not be ignored . also read Matthew 5:17 - Jesus talking again - hear him "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them" so you can see guys tithing is still an integral part of christian faith |
Traugott:traugott - i'm suprised u re saying this - u are misleading people - tithing is COMPULSORY read Malachi 3 vs 6-10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit," says the LORD Almighty. |

well let us get something clear here - the pastor was not trying to coerce you into parting with your money - it was a co-incidence which the devil is now playing upon in order to paint the pastor in bad light - in this situation, it becomes an issue of faith - reality vs faith - if your faith is strong enough and you are sure God will make a way for you to pay your rent, by all means pay your tithe but if your faith is not strong enough to lean totally on God's providence, pay your house rent - but endeavour to pay your tithe at a later date bearing it in mind that the tithe is the Lord's and He is only lending you to pay your rent so it must be returned to Him |

In sports, victory covers a lot of sins, while defeat on its part brings out the behind the scene dirty deals that transpired in and around the team's camp. Ever since the Super Eagles lost to Ghana on Thursday, there have been series of allegations here that the players worked against the interest of their fatherland by 'messing' themselves with Angolan girls, even under the nose of their coaches and top FA officials, who were in the same camp with them. "This is not a hidden matter. Right from Benguela to Lubango, this problem had been on ground. It got to a stage when the NFF had to summon some of the players to find out why they (players) decided to pay for different rooms for their PAs (Personal Assistants) in the same hotel we are staying. But rather than stop or look for another means of relating with their PAs outside the hotel camp, the players continued in their ways and the prize is what we have paid," an official of the team told The Guardian yesterday. According to the official, majority of the players used their PAs as cover to commit evil in the camp. He said: "What these boys normally do is to hire a separate room for their PAs and use the rooms as meeting point with women. The PAs or brothers of these players will organize women in the room and phone them to come over. One of the players was seen with two women in his room last night. Is that a normal thing to do at a time when millions of Nigerians back home are lamenting over our defeat by Ghana? "I agree the players are adults, but for God's sake, they should know that things of that nature have its psychological effect on teams, especially when we are out for an assignment. I won't say all the players are involved, but a greater number of them are guilty. "What baffles me is the fact even the NFF President (Sani Lulu) and all the coaches are aware of this mess and they kept quit. The Chief Security Officer of the team (ASP) Gideon Akinsola is only busy driving innocent Nigerians away from speaking with the players or having photographs with them. Now we have crashed out and everybody is feeling so sad. The players should bury their heads in shame," the official stated. Signs that the Eagles were not their usual selves started manifesting in their first match against the Pharaohs of Egypt in Benguela, when the Nigerians managed to hold the Egyptians for only 30 minutes and thereafter, struggled in the remaining part of the game, squandering a 1-0 lead to crash 1-3. The Eagles went on to struggle in other three matches played against Benin, Mozambique and Zambia, before crashing 0-1 to Ghana in the semifinal on Thursday at the November 11 Stadium in Luanda. Apart from the players, some people are of the view that officials of the NFF and the coaching crew of the Super Eagles should be blamed for the team's poor performance in the Nations Cup. To such people, the Lulu-led board of the NFF failed in its primary responsibility of good team coordination. "Before we crucify the players, we must ask ourselves some fundamental questions, especially the leadership quality of Sani Lulu and his board members. "It is not just enough to take a team out for a competition, pay the players allowances and pocket estacodes. The likes of Lulu, Ogunjobi, James Peters and others stayed in the same hotel with the players from Benguela to Lubango and Luanda, yet the players could not be called to order. "Where on earth do you see players being allowed to take their Personal Assistants to team's camp, not to talk of paying for different rooms for them? In an ideal situation, Coach Amodu and the entire FA members should be made to pay for their improper coordination of the team in this competition," the official stated. |
JNdupu:you have spoken very wisely ![]() |
Shaibu Amodu has stated why he uses Yakubu Aiyegbeni in the Super Eagles’ campaign at the Nations Cup in Angola despite the eyebrow Nigerians have raised against the inclusion of the Everton striker in the fiesta. Amodu said that Aiyegbeni is a goalscorer despite the fact that he has not scored at the current Nations Cup except for the penalty he converted in Nigeria’s match against Benin Republic. "So many people have questioned the inclusion of Aiyegbeni in the team that played against Mozambique and Zambia, some said he contributed very little in those games, but I didn’t see anything wrong in his inclusion in the team. Let’s not forget that Aiyegbeni is just coming out of the major injury he had last year," Amodu argued. He pleaded with Nigerians to forgive the player for whatever wrong he might have done in the competition and promised that Yak would soon regain his form and Nigerians would still enjoy his services to the country in the future. "Yakubu is a goalscorer, but he is just coming out of a major injury setback that wrecked his game last season. "People accused me of taken Aiyegbeni as my player, which is why I always include him in my squad. But there is nothing wrong in a coach having a favourite player. I think Aiyegbeni deserves to be forgiven for what he is going through now. "I believe that when he fully regains his fitness, he will come back to his very best and Nigerians will see the real player he is," Amodu said. |
President Umaru Yar’Adua’s inner caucus is reportedly toying with the idea of fielding the first lady, Hajia Turai, as Vice President in the event of Vice President Goodluck Jonathan becoming President. The move, according to an inside source, became imperative following the increasing lack of popularity for the initial idea of sinking or sailing with the ailing President and the recent loss of key members of the caucus. The source further disclosed that two factors forced the group to consider a change of plan: the widespread demand for the ailing President to step aside, and the loss of two influential members -Kwara State Governor, Bukola Saraki, and former Delta State Governor, James Ibori - by the group. Several prominent Nigerians, including past leaders, have asked that Yar’Adua step aside and allow Jonathan to act as President. Although the source noted that the stringent call was “disturbing and unsettling, it was the loss of Saraki and Ibori that forced the rethink.” Saraki is said to have abandoned the ‘Umaru-Yar’Adua-or-nothing’ project and is alleged to be nursing the idea of becoming Vice President should Jonathan become President. He was said to be lobbying governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to push him forward for the position. The loss of the duo was said to be a big blow as they were reportedly at the forefront of the clamour in 2007 that a governor be picked as former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s successor. The fact that Ibori is backing Saraki in his present scheme was said to have really rattled the President’s kitchen cabinet. The Yar’Adua faction is said to be initially rooting for the present Minister of Agriculture and a bosom friend of the ailing President, Alhaji Sayyad Abba Ruma. But the choice of Turai, according to the source, came up as a last minute response to the move by Obasanjo and the Governors’ Forum that are said to be rooting for serving governors. The choice of Turai, it was gathered, was “to reduce tension across the nation and reduce objection by Yar’Adua loyalists to the idea of a Jonathan presidency.” The source added: “Several politicians who have had contact with the Presidency in the last two years have an IOU to her, and don’t forget she is mother-in-law to three sitting state governors, apart from the fact that she wields a lot of influence among the cabinet members.” The first lady was also seen as a figure that might be used as a compromise in the event that the sick President is compelled to resign. Besides, it was learnt that what is delaying Jonathan from assuming the position of Acting President is the selection of “the most suitable candidate for the seat of Vice President.” Another source explained that the seat of the Vice President suddenly became attractive due to the permutation that Jonathan would not vie for President in 2011. “It is thus automatic that whosoever is chosen as the Vice President might stand as the presidential candidate of the PDP in the next general election. The stake is a bit high and every one is interested.” Consequently, three contending factions have emerged with separate candidates. The groups are those led by Obasanjo, the Turai-led Yar’Adua faction, and the Governors Forum. The Governors’ Forum however prefers Saraki while the Obasanjo group is said to be backing the Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido. But Turai choice is said to be gaining more ground among some Yar’Adua loyalists, who believe that picking Ruma may not fly given the fact that a serving governor stands a better chance than a serving minister in the event that push comes to shove in the nomination process. This is where Turai’s choice is seen as more apt because she is considered as a rallying point for all those loyal to the President and several governors, who had at one time or the other run to her for help. But those against her choice believe that the chance of clinching the VP’s slot weighs more towards Obasanjo and the Governors’ Forum faction because the two are putting forward serving governors. The reasoning behind this is largely in adherence to a pact reached in 2006 before Yar’Adua was picked as the PDP candidate. Serving governors then had to prevail on Obasanjo to pick one of them, without which their support would not be guaranteed. “The thinking by some people in the Yar’Adua group is that the selection of Abba Ruma is seen as an aberration to the 2006 pact. Having benefited immensely from the arrangement, the same people would not want to change it,” said our source. There are however those who say that Turai, being a woman, might not be accepted by Emirs and Islamic leaders, who might scoff at the idea of a female President. |
well this case is a very simple one - the fact that Togo lost officials and because of that should be allowed to do whatever they so desire, is SENTIMENT and as we all know, where rule of law is concerned, sentiment has no place - in 2004 when Cameroun national team wore sleeveless shirts to play, FIFA warned them to stop wearing it as it contravenes the rule of the game - when they wore it again two years later, FIFA banned them - a rule is a rule - now the following points need to be noted (a) CAF did not ban Togo because they left the competition (b) They were banned because the government intervened (b) The players WANTED to play but the government said NO (d)If the decision to pull out was solely that of the players, CAF would have accepted it It's obvious the government did not have the interest of the players at heart by asking them to pull out - asking the team to pull out was only a show of power -they claimed they could not guarantee the safety of the team but 14 teams remained in the tournament |

After all Pastor Tunde Bakare shared there, I especially like the manner in which he recaps:
