Politics › Re: 7 Reasons Why Biafra Will Never Happen by wristbangle: 3:31pm On Apr 06, 2017
ibson99:
7. There is no actual oppression or marginalization of the Igbos:
Before his arrest and eventual detention by the Nigerian State, Nnamdi Kanu on his Radio Biafra would go on and on about how the Igbos are being politically marginalized and oppressed, and how they would thrive in an independent Biafra. Reality check is a lot of the Igbo traders in Lagos would disagree with that assertion. Politically: the current Deputy Senate President of Nigeria is of Igbo ethnic extraction, the current Minister of Petroleum is Igbo. Within the last 17 years the Igbos have produce a Senate President, several Ambassadors and top government officials; the Igbos are simply a force to reckon with in Nigeria’s politics.

Those agitating for an independent state of Biafra have started on a path, but they still have great a many miles to go.
source: http://www.afriforum.net/276/7-reasons-why-biafra-will-never-happen
Point 7 speaks the ideology of an average igbo mind which stems from the fact that they cry wolf about been marginalised for too long. Ask them to produce a suitable candidate for president and you will see thousands of them raising their hands. Since independence, they have notable key roles in Nigeria politics as president, VP, senate president, Deputy senate president, etc. Abeg in what way have they been marginalised?

Politics › Re: Emir Sanusi Faults Buhari's Economic Plan by wristbangle: 8:26am On Apr 06, 2017
Critical sectors that needs urgent rehabilitation/development are neglected for luxury ones perhaps white elephant projects which adds no economic advantage to the country.

For how long are we going to be incurring more debts and servicing recurrent expenditure while critical sectors suffer.

Apt words sanusi but what solution do you have to these issues?

otunbakolawole:
While i dont agree with the IMF that Naira is overvalued to the tune of 20%, its correct about FG need to impose price controls and a steep tax on imports. Extreme measures are very much necessary. FG is engaged in a big gamble with the forex issue, so far it has been largely successful, i hope it wont run out of bullets.
At the bolded, if they take the step, some people will condemn it. No be VP talk the other day be this whey dem dey abuse am?

kennygee:
The cost of governance in Nigeria is our problem.

Private schools, especially secondary and primary schools charging over 200k is a problem.

When an SSA has his or her own branch of sides and personal assistance that government also pays in huge sums, that is a problem.

When our senators are paid like robbers when all they do is clown about and do absolutely nothing relevant, that is a problem.
Th bolded is attributed to corrupt practices by our leaders which unfortunately transcend to ordinary citizens when he/she is lucky to join the league of bandits will become one of them as well. The problem is the corrupted system with no penalty for the culprits.

Look @South Korea president, she was convicted for fraudulent and corrupt practices which she was sacked immediately and will face 10years imprisonment judgement.

Here in Nigeria, we do jungle justice or perhaps sentence someone who stole N50 bread to 20years imprisonment while the big thieves are seen as hero.

Politics › Re: Igbo Yoruba Cold War. And The Winner Is! by wristbangle: 7:12am On Apr 06, 2017
mightyhaze:
It's simple,..yorubas shd give igbos unalloyed support and solidarity for igbos to rule, dis will earn dem igbo trust. Because the problem here is yoruba betrayal over the years from 1966 to date!

Igbos have actually forgiven yoruba tracheary,by supporting obj to rule for atleast 8yrs under civil rule,..and have allowed yorubas and hausas to rule in peace during military era. Igbos too hav supported hausa fulani candidates atleast twice under civil rule viz shagari and yaradua rules.

The only logical/reasonable thing 2 do now is to gv igbos unwavering support 2 rule. By so doing, nigeria will not only be doin the only just thing, but will be giving itself an opportunity 2 be revamped and set on d road 2 greatness, since the great igbo tribe has been tested and found 2 possess that touch of midas!

Finally igbos don't hate yorubas,..they just not ready 2 be stabbed at the back again and again,..so they being quite cautious! The onus is on yorubas 2 redeem their image b4 the igbo race they have so actively schemed against for atleast 51years!
Sometimes when I hear the word " the yorubas stabbed the igbos at the back", am like how exactly because from your point of view, some of you twist the story to make it look as if it was a betrayal.

I agree igbos in a way have been sidelined for too long but somehow you guys are too rigid in political affairs. An indigene from SS region was an ex president was voted massively by SW in 2011 presidential election which he won. He lost 2015 election because of his shameless leadership and since then igbos have been crying wolf SW betrayed them (Is he an igbo?, you people are even crying more than the bereaved sef) but I can't say the fulani goro who won is working neither. It's just like the decision btw the devil and the deep blue sea.

By 2019 if igbos can field someone competent to rule, I will gallantly vote for him. I would have preferred rochas okorocha due to the fact that he is a political neutral man but he has not earned that respect enough as he is not living up to the task for imolites. Someone like obiano would make sense but I sense he maybe biased.

I just want good leadership in this country and I don't care wherever tribe he or she comes from.

The government should force marketers, sellers, importers, manufacturers and their likes to crash prices if no we are only artificially increasing the value of the naira to make some select greedy bastardos rich.
When the VP said he will delegate a team to monitor and regulate price of commodities, some emotional Nigerians were crying wolf that such move can't work as they should allow market gap determine the price itself.

To some extend, both views are correct because a market woman cannot afford to sell her produce below her standard of living since she will use such money to purchase other basic needs but then our people are too greedy. Up till now, are they still having old stock when the exchange rate was N520 to a dollar? I can take exception for luxury goods such as cars, electronics, etc which they are not highly consumable but for consumable goods, Haba! This is where government policy on price regulation needs to come in.

I used to spend all my days on NL ,mind you I had nothing going on at the time. But believe me you, when baba finally picked my call? I hardly had time to yab or visit NL.
Truly is, 99% of those trolls, whom spend 24hrs on here have nothing meaning going on for day in real life.

Take it or leave it, that's the truth, @RAW cool
Well said baba. The funny thing is these babbling baboons troop in millions in search for greener pasture @ SW location of which they are throwing unnecessary jibes to score cheap points.

A quick survey on job adverts shows that in Nigeria, 55% are in Lagos, Ogun- 15% Rivers - 10%, FCT - 8%. Others - 12%

They should ask themselves why foreigners choose SW for investment. If I remember my basic economics well, factors that favours industrialization are infrastructure, rebate/tax incentive, favourable environment, etc.

True! This is why I have been telling Ambode to complete the Lagos light rail projects (blue and red lines) to change the face of mass transit in Nigeria forever. But instead he is busy constructing one mediocre bridge to be named after one godfather....

Ambode our rails!
Has the ongoing work on the rail stopped? I was en route earlier today @ CMS and contractors are still working on the rail project.

Atimes I wonder if some people in this forum are normal
