Having been rusticated from the university for knocking his lecturer and putting two other administrative staffs into a state of coma , you would think that led him straight to these slums but no flex came from an average yet stable family , the type you would see and dream to have , the type that reminded us of all we never had and all we hoped to have soon, a banker for a father who worked his ass off daily and a nurse for a mom whose work came first , he and his three brothers were so to say okay except flex was a chronic womanizer , after making the gateman quit his job due to the affair between flex and Hus daughters and his wife and then moving on wards to the underaged house help who upon discovery disclosed of a number of abortions she had been through thanks to flex , flex soon found his way deep in the kirikiri prison upon his release he had left his old life and soon willingly let this slum swallow him and his past life.

The comedian, the love peddler who needn't nothing except a good smile and a few words to put any girl in between his thighs and a set of skills that earned him a black belt In takwaedo and judo , he was as deadlier as he was romantic but most of he was a good friend who was loyal to the core.

"I don't think so , this guys nor go show" Gaga replied again with a grin ,again letting his incomplete set of teeth do a dirty job at trying to hold back his saliva.

The Yoruba brute we call him barely 5foot , the short bulky fellow with a coarse voice which could ruffle a mountain at its highest peak sat opposite flex.

Yusuf Ahmed aka Gaga was the typical example of what a local bouncer could be described as , ahead that anyone would termed a FIFA football , eyes that rarely ever disclosed any sort of expression , a nose any one would feel was a result of a terrible deformity and two thick lips that expressed his dark skin color in a horrendous manner ; years of smoking and intake of all sort of booze and a neck that could not differentiate between his shoulders and head yet Gaga was the smartest of all that I had seen whilst he rarely ever relied on his mental capabilities his head housed a metal skull and two iron fist some believed was responsible for the most brutal head butts and jaw breaking punches.

Gaga was the ever hungry fellow who ate whenever and wherever he had it , food and good booze was gaga's remedy for anything and everything.

"JJC dem don come oh" flex said hastily as we all looked at the four guys who walked in , chatting off in the distant with their eyes hovering for where to sit.

'just in time ' I said in my head as I tightened my fist with great tension.

MADAM INDIE

CHAPTER ONE

"am not sure this guys will come ?"
Gaga said letting out some pepper soup escape his mouth and right into the table , not that it mattered , we could hardly hear ourselves within madam indie's bar.

The so called light and pride of the Ajaghe , a Slum which swallowed all humans,animals and in fact anything , for it discriminated not,The bar stood at the entrance of the two storey building ,white washed and did give an impression it would collapse any minute but that old fool had stood even before my country witnessed their independence ,something of a history relic I would say in my head but the building had proven against all odds , this building premises housed
madam indie's bar .

it was a banged up job you would say , with just a few zincs which from time to time landed on any of the unfortunate customer who was sitting beneath it ; it was said madam indie herself had some sort of control over the zincs which fell on debt owing or customers who made trouble in the bar even I believed this, perhaps you would write it off but Madam indie's bar had something for every one and girls who were always willing to serve more than a bottle of beer if you had just enough ; for most of them did live in that old fool and in a way solved a big problem of where to get the business done.

But the air for me , gaga and flex tonight was different , we were not just debtors waiting for a free beer and a plate of hot pepper soup , today we paid for our drinks and pepper soup; the beginning of trouble for all who knew what that meant.

took jamb four times and failed predegree the second to the last jamb I wrote was the weirdest ever ,it was the last time ppt option was available, finished like 35minutes before time ,assisted three people with theirs who eventually would call me to tell me thanks having passed theirs all 200+ ,I think the highest of them got 238 then and guess what I had ...178 i think I sat up that night like frozen lol , none even bothered to ask me how far lolz because of course they were expecting me to smash it.

but thanks to my aunt , she was patient ,kept encouraging , paid for lectures and books for me , she got me some job at some cafe to keep.me busy ,hmm I just finished my project as a final year student a week ago by march I am gone to serve my father's land.

now I think of it ,perhaps I could have asked for a remark hmmmm oh well its all good , mom I made it .

Greatness begets greatness

I remember far back in 2013 when Angelique kidjo featured Asa in her melodious album 'Eva' which celebrated the pride, strength, and smile that masks everyday troubles faced by African women.

The album had a wide array of African languages, Fon, Yoruba, Goun, Mina etc

Asa also is doing greatly in her own way and she still very much portrays the Yoruba culture to France and the world. Her recent Album 'Lucid' has a good blend of fine sounds that carries messages.
'Happy People' which celebrates the resilient nature of Nigerian women irrespective of odds is one of my favorite.

Congratulations to both Angelique and Burna boy, they both are African giants.

I actually came to this thread for someone to mention ASA ,thanks for this one , in due time ASA is going places .
such proficiency and dedication to her culture and music styles I honestly thought we would never get a female brymo but ASA just took the mantle as soon as she came on board , she is in a place where people actually can appreciate her kind of music it sucks that we do not in sane climate Many of our artistes won't even think of a record deal with the crap they throw out in the studio .

unfortunately I and a few friends have been thinking of going into a legit money -saving and loaning business ,the amounts of ill we perceive through our surveys so far is really disturbing at the moment.
the idea is actually genius but I don't know we are skeptic than ever thanks to the amount of fraudulent actions some of us like to take for quick cash.

Story the reason we have a very corrupt generation today is because many parents don't flog there children, even in many schools today you dear not flog your students.

I was raised in a generation where my papa, mama, even in school we were thoroughly disciplined and these things ingrained in me discipline and responsibility.

Moreover Parents nowadays are chasing money, they don't stay around there children to monitor, discipline and advice them.

We never see anything, this is just the beginning. But there are parents that are still raising good kids today.

This woman's daughters cause is not yet lost, they can still remove those foolishness from her. Flogging is part of it and then lovingly reaching out to her with the right counsel will help drive the foolishness from her.
In fact in future, the girl will use that template on her kids. It works.

lemme tell you dear sir, no amount of flogging does prevent a child from doing wrong , training a child the right way is based on psychology oga.
i am a product of my example sir and i am grateful for that.

proper upbringing of a child is not a spear the rod spoil the child matter ,oga i was brought up by a teacher and an headmistress both deacons and deaconess who raised seven kids and six others from other families up oga.

my own plenty oh lol

1. i once bolted into the bush to over a girl i felt had eyes on me in my area , was scared to hell.

2.i usually spend .more time in my room or pretend to sleep when family and relatives are around

3. i have blocked alot of people in my whatsap ,i dont do facebook nor rarely ever let my contacts to access my profiles on social media.

4. i stutter alot and take share breaths when talking to a girl.

5. i always have my ear piece on at school to form busy or pretend to be reading when everyone ia chatting.

6. i take the less busy and secluded places and rarelt ever eat outside.

7. i have actually faked not understanding the language of my area claiming i was new there to avoid talk.

8. i have a million and one excuses why not to go parties, brithdays, outings, actually anything.

9.i fake phone calls alot to avoid conversations and to give the idea i converse alot.

but honestly the truth is i realize i enjoy my company alot , i like to sit and think like i am self conscious alot lol .
i dont feel bad about not wanting to be out there honestly all my friends are extroverts and i enjoy their companies when eventually i get to see them.
i am not shy really i just enjoy been alone , am at my best when i am alone , i enjoy myself so to say.

yours was even better a friend of a Friend had her entire apartment swept yes including the curtains, rug, bed and chairs after she came from a four day trip, damn they even took her pots and slippers like they cleaned her house for her and guess what the neighbors say did not hear anything.

she didn't stay around, returned the keys to the landlord and left thankfully she was doing her final year.

like some people get mind shall hah! how do you burgle a home and start packing out the entire room .

Even deadbeat fathers have levels ... Some are just total deadbeat that won't have an iota of care for the children left behind.... The Op is healing for himself not his family or mother... Am sure there will still be some resentment... Just 6yrs ain't much.. Imagine if he's gone for 20-30yrs.pls what relationship is there to build. There's no way he will fit into ur life

reminds me of my dad , abandoned my sister and i at age one and age three respectively , came back home like four years ago with some really bad behavior , I don't see him as a father neither do I communicate often I have tried but there's nothing there for us , he knows that and doesn't push his luck , I have worked and will continue to work harder daily to ensure my kids don't go through what I went through because a father abandoned his responsibilities.
