I dont know why people are still interested in any new U.S. linked procurements like the Tucano when it has been shown time and again that the West (U.S, U.K. and France) cannot be trusted or relied upon. In your darkest hour, they will not only abandon you, they will frustrate and then ridicle you. And if you check carefully, you might see thier hand behind many of your miseries.
Whatever the capabilities of the Tucano, impressive or cost effective as they may be, we should not buy them, full stop.
bidexiii: Please be informed that Channels TV will today, Thursday 12th May 2016 by 4.30pm broadcast an interview with the Chief of Army Staff in the programme, "Question Time" anchored by Gbenga Ashiru. There will also be repeat broadcast as follows:
bidexiii: what makes you a leader is using limited resources to achieve results
When I read what you wrote earlier about the COAS doing a good job, I was typing a reply with some examples that came to my mind. The reply got too long and I thought it would be a boring post so I abandoned it. The one sentence you made above nicely summarized all I was typing. What makes you a great leader is using limited resources to achieve results. So simple, yet so true.
bidexiii: The Theatre Commander, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, Major General LEO Irabor will hold a media briefing here in Biu on the discovery of large cache of arms and ammunitions and other developments in the Theatre. Details shortly.
The Nigeria Army on Sunday disclosed the recovery of large cache of arms buried in the hinterlands of Borno State at a spot made to look like a graveyard.
The Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Leo Irabor, said but for the vigilance of soldiers the grave, which concealed a cache of high calibre ammunition, worth over N20 million, would have remained unnoticed.
Mr. Irabor, a Major General, said the quantum of ammunition recovered is capable of deflating the morale of a full battalion if it remains in the hands of a capable enemy.
Mr. Irabor, who spoke to journalists in Biu, Southern Borno State during an ongoing tour of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, said the discovery was made three days ago when his men received some hint regarding the activities of Boko haram terrorists before they fled from Alagarno.
“We conducted some various scale of operation as well as specific operations that led to the recovery of arms cache in the village called Gursum, around Alagarno general area; and there we had a very sterling discovery of Boko Haram terrorists burying large quantities of ammunition on the ground”, he said.
“This operation was in conjunction with the Civilian JTF because they led us through the routes. We recovered 36 boxes of .50MM which is equivalent to 12.7mm buried concealed as though it was a grave .
“We also got 5/20 lethal brief case as well as a mixture of 7.6 mm NATO and 7.62mm special. These ammunitions were all concealed in plastic containers which we recovered. In addition we got 1/81 NATO tube that was wrapped in cellophane and buried on the ground.
bidexiii: PRESS RELEASE: DEFENCE HEADQUARTERS ESTABLISHES CAMP FOR REPENTANT BOKO HARAM MEMBERS
In line with the Federal Government’s commitment to the war against insurgency in the North East and in furtherance of its efforts to rehabilitate and reintegrate surrendered and repentant Boko Haram terrorist members, the Defence Headquarters has established rehabilitation camp in an Exercise known as Operation SAFE CORRIDOR.
The main focus of Operation SAFE CORRIDOR is geared towards rehabilitating and reintegrating the repentant and the surrendering Boko Haram members back into normal life in the society.
The repentant terrorists in the Camp would be taken through various vocational training so that they could be useful to themselves and be empowered to contribute meaningfully to the economic growth of their fatherland.
This seems to me to be a very good idea. But is there no other more suitable government agency that can manage this? Why is it the reponsibility of DHQ? The military should provide security for the camp but other government agencies and NGOs (including international ones) should operate it.
Are those Alphajets and MIG 21s taking off and landing? Honestly, they are looking newer than I had expected but we really need to upgrade our capabilities. I wish I was Minister of Defense. I would be ordering us some Su-34s and Ka-52s.
On a daily basis, the international media is full of news about Syrian refuges. Why is there no commensurate international attention/concern for the plight of the displaced people in the North East of Nigeria or other conflict areas in Africa? Na wa oh. There was a scene with two soldiers carrying an old man out from a plane on a makeshift stretcher. Very touching.
Weldone bidexiii for continously updating this thread. It is such a joy to see our armed forces kicking the shit out of BHT. Good job boys, keep it up.
The only problem with this "helicopter" view, na say we no dey see you and that your "face cap" inside the pictures again. Abeg from time to time, give give us the normal view with the face cap, in case any body dey doubt.
topsy23: It can be change when the lamps dies. Very easY to maintain if it is direct light(I mean 220V supply). There are some spotlight that have transformer(choke), those ones are 12v supply.
The guy I approached to do my POP ceiling, for a similar design last year, told me that if the bulbs die they cant be replaced. So I had to make do with a different design. Thanks for correcting that misinformation.
carpenter: I am not for organizations that try to control what people do and how they think. I am for the strong man that stands his grounds based on his beliefs against such organizations or the society at large. Yes, before things will get better, they may get much worse but I am not convinced that the naira selling at the CBN rate is close to its true value. The gap between the CBN rates and the black market is just too wide for comfort and the way it has been going up and down is something else. Nevertheless, I wish the CBN Governor well and I hope he and his advisers are doing the right thing. I would want to think a devalution is in order but what do I know ...am no economist.
There has always been disparity between the official and parallel FX markets. Devaluation does not solve that problem.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Federal Government sees Nigeria and the interest of Nigerians as paramount. It will therefore only continue to take economic decisions that will impact positively in the lives of all Nigerians
In other words, we know JP Morgan are only after their own selfish interest, so, if them like, make them go hug transformer. Priceless.
For the small light bulbs in the design below, not either of the two big lamps, can they be changed/replaced when the bulbs die? How easy is maintenance for these bulbs.
