Forget China. Look at the below and tell me whether Buhari's lack of policy and direction is to blame.

Nonsensical analysis. I guess you will also blame the across board loss in emerging markets on Buhari's hesitance to announce his economic team?

Helical Ellipse Staircase: A piece of art.

Most staircases do a great job of getting you from one storey to another within a home. Then there are those that are also stunning design centrepieces.

Our current project under construction will feature the sculptural potential of an helical ellipse staircase. In the end, we will have a sculptural elliptical grand staircase that not only provides function architecturally, but also acts independently as a sculptural art piece.

Watch this space.

2. 5 head pan and shovel @ N800/nr = N10,000
3. Builders square, lines, bucket etc = N6,000
Total = N31,000

sinking of bore hole may be capital intensive depending on the location of the building. Here in south south ( Rivers), the water table in shallow nd hand drilling can be employed. A depth of about 10m will guarantee adequate supply of water for the project.
Note that the bore hole will be useful after the completion of the house since only an overhead tank will be required
10m depth is about 33feet. Considering there will be soakaway as deep as about 10 to 15 feet shouldn't the bore hole depth be more?

Also does one wheel barrow cost N1500? I thought it is more than that?

I still do not understand how Brabus managed to hoodwink virtually everyone on Nairaland into believing he is seasoned builder. He is not. Please do not throw away your money.

A couple of years ago (I think it was around 2010) when he was at the earlier stages of (what was allegedly) his house in Sagamu, he was on this very forum asking newbie questions. I still remember vividly because one particular Nairalander (with handle aasog or aasog1 or something like that) stood out amongst others on that thread in terms of the quality of advise he was giving Brabus and on this basis I had the aasog guy on my "monitor" list. I remember Brabus being openly thankful for the advice he was getting and throughout he did not give anyone the impression he was a professional builder, quite the opposite, he instead spoke as an average guy who just wanted to complete his personal project without getting ripped off by others - much like jaydacorsair here. And then, the next thing you will see, out of nowhere, is "NextHome Builders". Jesus Christ.

Now he goes about parading himself as a consummate professional and you would be forgiven for thinking he has been building houses for ages. By cleverly associating himself with folks like Spider, Segcy, etc, he has created a perfect camouflage for his inexperience. By using superior presentation skills, he projects professionalism. This guy is practically making it up as he goes, with goof after goof and unfortunately it is clients who are paying the price.

Folks, especially those in the Diaspora, before you dish your money out please triple check properly and don't be guided by what you are seeing and hearing on a faceless forum. I rest my case and wish jaydacorsair the best possible outcome from here on.

Yes, you can only withdraw in Naira while in Nigeria.

Simple question: can you go to a bank in US or England and withdraw in Naira? I dont think so.
stagger:
My friend, if you have a domiciliary account, you will be paid in foreign currency for each withdrawal. I have operated one for years and I have NEVER been paid in Naira. Not once. I will even transact tomorrow.

Get your facts straight and stop confusing newbies here.
makzeze:
Which planet are you?
I am afraid, stagger is right. If you have a dorm account, credited with forex (e.g. via telegraphic inflows), you are able to withdraw the forex in cash. The bank will charge you a comission which varies from bank to bank but they will give you the forex, cash.

The banks are complaining that they have too much forex in their vaults and have nothing to do with it since CBN refused to take it from them. This is one of the reasons, why they stopped recieving cash forex deposits. They however continue to pay out forex to legimate account holders as this is the only way they can deplete their large forex holdings.

The claim by makeze is simply not correct.

Mrknowitall FP
I have a HIDA account. I have operated mine for more than four years now. Yes, the account does as advertised. I think it is one of the best bank accounts offered by any Nigerian bank. The main shortcoming for me is that it doesn't offer a dedicated DEBIT/ATM card linked to the account, otherwise it gives you everything else you get with a normal current/savings account. The big bonus, apart from the high interest rates, is that I have never had any COT charged.

To those comparing HIDA account to treasury bills or other investment products, I think you are comparing apples to oranges. This is a bank account, not an investment product. There are features you get from a bank account that you wont get from regular investment products and vice versa. If you need a bank account and have more than 100k to leave in it, then go for HIDA.

What I did to deal with the lack of ATM/DEBIT card on HIDA was to also open a savings account with Diamond Bank and then I requested for an ATM card on the savings account. I always leave my savings account balance low, but when I want to use an ATM I can transfer (via online banking) from my HIDA to my savings and then withdraw from the ATM. Problem solved.

All you need to do to use gas instead of diesel or petrol is change the carburettor or where the fuel is burned. The important steps you need is to clean the biogas (remove impurities especially hydrogen sulphide that attack metals), dry it (remove moisture) and compress it.
Thanks to you both.
AgricultureRe: Generating Gas Through Biodigester. by X2X(m): 10:17pm On Jun 07, 2015
But how is it that biogas, which is mostly methane, can be used to power generators? Isn't it the case that generators require PMS (petrol) or AGO (diesel) which are both liquids? Or is there something I am missing? Is there a special step so that the generators can run on biogas?

Can you read what you're writing at all? The Conservatives won the last Poll based on their promise to tackle illegal immigrants. They are just fulfilling their electoral promise.

Will Buhari tell Cameron not to return people living in the UK illegally? The UK has made various ways through which immigrants can be properly documented, there is the 5-year route, 10year route and other ways they could be properly fitted into the system but if they can't meet up why still remain and be shouting victimization or oppression.

There is the law and if you're caught breaking it, don't cry or seek for pity. Saw the way some folks attacked immigration officials in peckham some weeks back and I ponder if they assume MAY will look the other way while they go crazy attacking officials doing their work.

You are in UK but know Foreigners who are in Nigeria without Permit? Why will a Briton or an American remain in Nigeria without papers? Is he a fugitive running from the law? Because it is silly thinking to assume Nigeria is a country loved by a right thinking westerner to come stay without adequate documentation by the embassy or high commission.

Guess those your foreigners will be Ghanians, Filipinos and Indians or Chinese. Over 30% of Nigerians in the UK are without documentation and they are never quiet or easy going, they indulge in all kind of vices and silly acts which damage the reputation of the entire black race and funnily they are mostly from a particular tribe in Nigeria.

There is provision for voluntary return and they even give you some resettlement fund advise others to go turn themselves in.

Nigeria maybe a kangaroo republic other serious countries take their laws serious or they can continue to hide until Labour comes to rule the parliament. The Tories don't take shit from anyone

BusinessRe: My Take On The Slave Labor In Nigerian Banks - Cramjones by X2X(m): 1:08pm On May 20, 2015
cramjones:
I read about the pay scale of bankers in Nigeria with deep and utter sadness. I haven't been able to sleep since I read the stories on Nairaland, for I have been deeply disturbed. Prior to these articles, I erroneously thought that entry level bankers earn nothing less than 120k, but I was very wrong! My nephew is banker, but he keeps asking me to send him money. I joke about it, albeit ignorantly, not knowing his pay is that of a slave.

Fellow Nigerians, granted we have over 50 million unemployed youths, nevertheless should we accept to be slaves in our own country? What will a young man full of life and energy do with 24k/month or $110 per month. I can remember many times I have spent such an amount one night on a family dinner. This is not fair and must be stopped! We must task the incoming administration to review our labor laws. It is unacceptable for a graduate working in a multibillion dollar coporation as a banker to earn less than $4/day.

Instead of trekking from pillar to post, do something about it! I would like to urge all youths to use the power of social media and spread the word. We must start that way. I will do my part by telling the C-in-C to tackle this slave labor head on. Not just the banks, but we must have enforcable laws that all employers of labor must abide to. Little wonder why Kelechi and Kayode are doing drugs in Indonesia. Little wonder why Ifeoma, Kabiru and Femi are drowning in the mediterranean trying to cross to Europe. We must put an end to modern day slavery, wickedness and greed!

You have all taken the right step by revealing it. Now make it popular and we will work on the one-on-one side. This must stop!

-CramJones
CramJones, you are one of the few on here that have got their head screwed on. Like you, I am saddened by the situation of meager wages and job insecurity faced by young graduates, especially in the financial sector.

If we must task the incoming administration to review labour laws, we should be clear what the objective of such review is and what the result would be. We have a plethora of labour laws that are either not being enforced or are not enforceable. Nonetheless, I do not think it is sensible for the incoming administration to mandate a "minimum wage" for graduates in legislation. Any such legislation, if it is enforced, will almost certainly result in mass layoffs. Employers will massively cut down staff numbers in order to accommodate the minimum wage requirement for the few that are left. This is surely not your intention. I think a poor paying job is better than no job at all.

The root cause of the problem is the overwhelming unemployment level, such that some graduates are prepared to work even without pay. Let the government focus squarely on jobs. I do not propose that the government goes on an employment spree - that would be unsustainable. Let it create the enabling environment for private enterprise (power, security, transport links, etc.). Let it give businesses, especially in manufacturing, the incentives to invest/expand in our country - for example tax breaks. Let it make sure our schools are turning out graduates that can think, can innovate. Graduates that have the right skills to compete both locally and internationally.

Are you seriously suggesting to me that Kelechi is pushing drugs in Indonesia because of the banks in Nigeria pay fresh graduates 25k/month? I think not. Drug trafficking, and the other things you mention getting more and more prominent is a reflection of the progressive decay in our societal values, particularly the get-rich-quick-at-all-cost syndrome endemic in today's Nigerian youth, and an increasing disinclination to honest, hardwork.

Instead of trekking from pillar to post, yes, lets do something about it! Ranting on social media may be the easy option, but it is not the solution.

The former military ruler has been out of power for close to 30 years and although popular, especially in northern Nigeria, there is little evidence to prove he has what it takes to fix the country.
Very interesting.

Is it the same BBC reporters and analysts that told us Libya would be better off if the "evil Gaddaffi" was removed? The same BBC analysts and reporters that told us Iraq had weapons of mass destruction?

How would Buhari have what it takes to fix the country when the deceitful BBC+PDP propaganda machine is rolling full steam and we have fellow citizens who have either chosen or have been misled to reject reason and common sense and instead embrace sentiments like religion and ethnicity?

The thievery, incompetence and ineptitude of the PDP has to end. This is our chance. Lets take it. Vote for CHANGE. I yield.

I think the ideas is to allow what ever enters the soakaway to have a path (i.e. the hole of the hollow block) through which it can sip away into the earth and be "soakedaway" by the ground. That is the whole point of the soakway.

I assume you are building according to the design and I am not criticising you, but might it not be better for stair area illumination to begin the window after say four coaches? I notice that four coaches will be consistent with the rooms as well. Just thinking, may be there is something I am missing.

PropertiesRe: Solar Power & Boreholes Jobs (FULL Pictures) Ask ANY questions NO SECRETS by X2X(m): 12:48pm On Nov 02, 2014
DRealGeesam:
IF you are talking about producing electricity for commercial purpose eg electricity for a whole state or country, then nuclear, hydro, wave, wind are all cheaper than solar and are more practical. BUT if you are talking about an individual producing electricity for himself, Hydro and nuclear are not economical or practical. You keep talking of battery. Is cost of fuel in 3 years more economical than battery with lifespan of 3 years? Let us be pratical, as far as producing electricity at the home level is concerned ONLY wind energy is cheaper and more practical than solar energy. I am not even through talking about solar panels, inverters and charge controllers, so wait till i get to batteries. I have not used a generator for the past 2 years of my life.
Do you know that as good as electricity is in the US yet solar power is thriving. These are people who can see in the long term. You are only looking at the initial cost. Do you know that even a barber with tiger generator will have to spend at least 1000 naira a day to have electricity for 12 hours, in 3years he would have N864,000. How? He would have worked 6 days in a week that is 6000 naira in a year that is N288,000 and in 3 years that is N864,000.
Half of that money will give his barbing saloon 18hrs of electricity everyday for 25 years, the only thing he will change every 3 years is his batteries which is will be a recurrent N150,000. Meaning instead of spending 288000 a year on just fueling generators, now he is only spending 50,000.

Guess what sir, IF he strictly follows best battery management practices which i will be revealing, he can use his batteries for at least 5 years (please consult google if u dont believe me on anything and take info from reliable sites such as backwoodssolar.com and the likes). Original AgM gel deep cycle batteries last as long as 10 years even with everyday use.
I will tell u y many dont enjoy their batteries when i get to that topic.

So my point remains, Solar is extremely cheap compared to generator. And as i have even said earlier MANY are spending good money in developed countries to add solar to their home supply even though they have 24 hrs of electricity, cos it is helping them cut the cost of electricity.

On this thread i tell people as it is no lies no pretending. Many have called me and when i tell them what is involved they say someone said it is cheaper somewhere i smile and advice them and let them be. Truth is solar is cheap when you can look at your economic benefits over the years and not just the initial cost as i said, spending 150,000 on batteries in 3 years and spending 864,000 on petrol in 3 years which is cheaper?
Agree. Add to this, the constant deafening noise and emissions (CO2 pollution) from generators. Did you also remember that sometimes people buy genertors and within 2-3 years the generator has packed up and they have to buy another one? If you can find a reliable solar system installation people (hard in Nigeria, unfortuntely) then Solar most definitely makes more sense over the long term, as you say for home power.
