For less than four and half years this man, Samuel Onunaka Mbakwe was governor of Imo, Abia and Ebonyi combined. He built an industry in every local government, he built a multi-campus university, he built the most enduring roads, hospitals and schools throughout the three old states. His people loved him and he wept for them sometimes. He had an average annual budget of about 100 million naira and only got an average of 100,000 naira in security votes annually. His official vehicle was 504 peugeot. He had no other houses apart from one old village house. Now compare this man with the current governor of Imo state as we now know it. Rochas Okorocha wept on his inauguration some 6 years ago that he was going to beat the achievement of the only governor Imo state has ever had (as far as ndi Imo are concerned). To achieve this Rochas started with self-deceit. He quickly privatized Imo state to his fronts, family and friends literally. He put contractors on a wild goose chase and has left Imo State worse in every aspect than he met it. But my anger is not directed at Rochas who here represents every failed leader in this country. Firstly I’m disappointed at the opposition who has not destroyed this impostor called Rochas and his likes with a healthy alternative people can relate to. Secondly I’m disappointed at every youth who have stood by and allowed these old men, who have lived their lives the way they saw fit, live and destroy ours before our very eyes. Thirdly I’m disappointed in myself because I belong to both groups above. I was among those who slept outside the INEC office at Owerri-Port Harcourt express way just to protect the mandate of Rochas, because I believed he represented progress but how wrong I was. Until we the youths of this country refuse to be docile no more, we will wake up one day – soon enough, old and disappointed at the life we lived.

And just like that...we read, casually like, share or comment, yarb each other and then hurry off to the next topic...patiently waiting for this kind of news to entertain us again. Na curse or jazz this people take hold us biko? |
Wow...life just comes and goes like a swift wind, yet we live like we'll never leave. Fact is everyday it is someone's turn to leave this earthly existence and certainly one day it will be ours. My one kobo being that we make the most of the life we live -while we live it, enjoying and savoring every moment of it like its our last, doing as much good as our hearts can conceive, our hands can fashion and circumatances allow. RIP to the departed! Fortitude to the bereaved! |

I am not a lawyer but from a layman's perspective Mr. Joseph Dauda's request is not unreasonable. Why charge a man on same issues in two different courts? What is wrong in consolidating them into one, wouldn't it in fact save us the time and resources Justice Yusuf is complaining about? Except there is something else behind this whole drama...I don't see what the fuss is all about especially if the prosecutors are certain of their facts to nail the guy! In my opinion, having two identical cases running at the same time is fishy. |
OP I don't understand what you mean by suggesting that hanging out in a bar today is frowned at by Jesus...who turned water into wine? Hello? Like I will always advise anyone who cares to listen...enjoy your life while you can but in moderation. Before you say Jack, we are all gone. As for me and my disciples, this Easter we will go to church this morning and later in the afternoon/evening, we will be in a local joint...if possible a very local joint, drinking palm wine and roasted pork till mama starts calling. Long talk is not for the evening ![]() |
Why won't you let broke guys complain as they like...as your handle preach ![]() CJjoy: |
Following Aunty Oby's beer parlor gist, I had to visit one last night to avoid traffic on my way home. So in this bar sha, one can spot several cluster of guys - a few girls too, sited around tables sipping their beer and chatting, some in almost whispers, others as loud as though in a contest of amplitude. Anyways it appeared majority of people in the bar were Chelsea fans waiting for their Champions league match (I had no idea there was a match in the first place as Arsenal don kill my joy for football...Messi is my only chance for a come back sha ). Back to the matter, there was this very loud guy next table sipping Heineken (just two of us had the beer, others were on Life and Hero...these two brands have been terrorizing other beers since last year ). He seemed to be in the grips of beer as he declared to his listeners (who were also paying keen attention) that he hated - with passion, to hear three things from women. Nna, me I kuku strain my ear to collect the gist come share with my people...lol. The three hated things for the night were;1. Bae, my landlord called me today about rent! (I no dey use ear hear this one I don end that call...lol) 2. Bae, buy me recharge card! (Some will even ask for both their lines...NO! don't mention...lol) 3. Bae, my hair don dey scratch me, I wan make hair! (Imagine the nonsense...lol) 4. Feel free to add yours...lol |
You sound brilliant but are you really trying to defend this evil? Come on man...come on! A7: |
If this is true, God bless Buhari for me! If you have not had a direct taste of the special brew of corruption made by Rochas and his cronies, you will not fully appreciate the fact that someone is checking his excesses! Gosh! That man is a total waste of 8 years! It hurts me the most because I was among the people that practically stood against PDP all day and night, repelling forging attacks on INEC office - just to have a chance at good governance that Rochas appeared to represent. More than 5 years on...look at the disappointment the man has turned. Rochas and other politicians that have betrayed our trust and wasted our invaluable TIME will never go unpunished...NEVER! |

OP I think we should mind the caption of our threads. "Explosion" in Abuja can easily send the wrong message when what we have here seems like a fire incident. We just have to manage a little positivity in this chaos we are trapped in... ![]() |

Poverty at its peak! When a man places little or no value on his life but on other secondary priorities, then things have really fallen apart. And we live in a supposed country flowing with milk and honey! It is terrible, this situation we have found ourselves ![]() |
So why are we not telling ourselves this truth and see how we can come to terms...our own terms of agreement? gab264: |
If Nigeria were without the natural deposits of crude oil... Would there still be agitation for secession? Would Nigeria seriously hold on to the 'indivisible' mantra? Would other sectors of the economy still be viable? If Nigeria's oil were located in the Northern part of Nigeria and the Southern part has nothing... Would the agitation for secession since been approved? Would Nigeria be as magnanimous with those who contribute almost nothing to the common wealth? Would other sections be creative enough to take the challenge and make lemonade out of the lemon nature has handed them? Feel free to add yours as directed. Meanwhile let me continue listening to Rock City and Adam Levine's song: Would you still love me the same! |
There are many Easterners who are not interested in this Biafra cause but it is difficult to argue against the agitations of the pro-Biafrans. There are simply too many issues that our Nigerian polity has ignored or shall we say refused to correct or address. It is as if those favored by the out come of the war have no interest in listening to the perceived injustice of their fellow country men. Everybody is holding firm on their ground. And then you come online and read the comments of your country mates and you see the deep divide (hatred to be precise) amongst us. It is really painful the path we have consciously or unconsciously allowed our dear Nigeria to tow. ![]() |
The 85 richest people on earth own more than the poorest 3.5 billion - @AJUpFront If this is not inequality, I don't know what else is. Why this system cannot be changed I can't say. But majority remain in abject poverty and the so called leaders of our world tell us all is fine. We must liberate ourselves from mental slavery. This world belongs to us all...those who control it did not fall from the skies. https://twitter.com/AJEnglish/status/656102063311446016 |
I wish this is propaganda but unfortunately it's not! Imo State as we know it - a beautiful, very serene and clean state is now something no one can easily recognize. The worst legacy any government can give is leaving their state worse than they met it. This is exactly where this so called Rescue Mission Chief - Rochas has left a state he assumed leadership through the goodwill of the masses. But I do not blame him too much since one cannot give what they do not have. He doesn't have quality leadership in him and making poor decisions seems to be his characteristics. How else can one explain the choice of a governor to go for decoration of the environs of a major round-about but not fix the bad spots/poor design of the said road. This example is consistent in all the policies of this man called Rochas. I have come to give up on the man. He is a summary of politicians (with very few exceptions) that have plagued Nigeria in the name of leaders since independence: A waste of our collective time and resources! |
Wow!!! There is yet hope in our dear Nigeria!!! Such refreshing news...far removed from all the negativity and irrelevant topics making FP nowadays!!! |
That's really a good development. Never imagined those guys will be challenged, not to talk of recovering the loot...going by the amount of fire power they showed while robbing the bank. Good job NPF!!! |
This democracy thingy is a beautiful thing!!! |
