I was at the WTO, I won't name the minister from another country. He was telling me we need to give up some of the things we were doing because of colonialism and because they needed time to develop. These arguments are a scam. Don't fall for it. We need to make sure that we put the UK first, we have to look after ourselves." Interviewer: "Those advocating for reparations will say, shouldn't we make up for the damage we did through slavery? As a black woman saying this they may find that hard to understand from you". Kemi: Well, there are many things that the British empire got wrong. There are many amazing things that the British Empire also did and we need to be honest about that and stop pretending that it was all bad".
Indeed, Kemi is right that the British Empire ended slavery (and paid off the despicable slave-owning white folks). Freetown in Sierra Leone is a testament to the FACT that the British Empire through the British Royal Navy squadrons intercepted many slave ships and took just slightly over 100,000 freed African men, women and children on board those infamous slave ships that were headed towards the Americas in the 1800s to mainly Freetown and Fernando Po. This was after the British and other Europeans had made millions of £ from the huge profits realized from the triangular trans-Atlantic slave trade between Africa, the Americas, and Europe!
However, Kemi did say in that video that the British Empire did some things that were GOOD (right) and things that were NOT good (wrong). It's the NOT GOOD (wrong) things that those former British colonies are complaining about as of today. From the ruthless armed repressions of Africans during the colonial invasions and the partitioning of Africa in 1885 without inputs from African, the invasion and deposition of the King of Benin kingdom in 1897 while also stealing the precious palace art works and statues, the brutal suppression of the members of the Mau-Mau movement in Kenya, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Africa, Jamaica and most of the other former British Caribbean countries is what the British and others have to resolve for the sake of justice.
angelboy01: My own is that you guys should stop the misconception that he slept with 400 women. He slept with high profile women and the videos released aren't up to 40 and the women he slept with aren't up to 10 either. He could have slept with more no doubt but saying he slept with 400 women is a fat lie and for those saying he has stamina he could also be taking drugs, aside the big gbolahon his longest video was 10mins. Normal guys go that far and even more so nothing special..
These hungry YouTubers and bloggers are despicable with the fabrication of fake stories which their gullible subscribers consume like bloody lemmings.
To break it down for Nigerians in USA. You can enter USA legally through the airport and still be an illegal immigrant.
1. F-1 Student visa: You come for school, you graduate, applied for OPT/STEM OPT, fail to secure job within 1/3 years, you automatically become illegal after OPT expires. That means the DSO expire your record on SEVP portal and Trump can deport you.
2. B visiting via: You overstay your visiting visa, you are automatically termed illegal. You can be deported if Trump wants.
3, H visa: A company sponsor you to USA and you're on H-1B. If something happen and you get sacked, you have until some months to secure another job so another company can file for you. Failure to do that, you don turn illegal. Trump can deport you.
What guys usually do before is just to chill, find someone to marry, then file greencard. Some student still dey do EB-1/Eb-2 before they graduate. That is currently going well for EB-2 and there are record approval. E sure me say Trump go reduce the approval rate.
Before Trump, students can join the military straight from F-1 student visa. Lot of guys used that route to citizenship. Trump came in and suspended the program. I remember people saying then that he can't stop it.
It's gonna be a "hurricane season" scenario for the illegals in the weeks to come (starting from January 2024).
God1000: Donald Trump’s allies and some in the private sector have been quietly preparing to detain and deport migrants residing in the United States on a large scale, according to four sources familiar with the discussions.
And with the former president becoming the president-elect, those preparations are now expected to ramp up.
Immigration was a cornerstone of Trump’s 2024 campaign, and while he repeatedly touted promises of mass deportation on the trail – putting increased emphasis on interior enforcement compared to his 2016 fixation on the border wall – members of his orbit and some in the private sector discussed what that plan would look like, according to the sources.
Trump’s day one priority is to reinstate his former administration’s border policies and reverse those of President Joe Biden, senior Trump adviser Jason Miller told CNN.
Early discussions among Trump’s team have focused on removing undocumented immigrants who have committed crimes, a source familiar with the team’s preliminary plans told CNN. A key issue under consideration is how, when and if to deport immigrants who were brought to the United States as children, commonly known as Dreamers.
Targeting Dreamers would be a departure from the historically bipartisan support they’ve enjoyed. Some are temporarily protected by the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program that allows recipients to live and work in the US.
Tom Homan, who previously served as acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, could potentially serve as one of the leads on immigration in the administration, sources said.
“It’s not gonna be – a mass sweep of neighborhoods. It’s not gonna be building concentration camps. I’ve read it all. It’s ridiculous,” Homan told CBS News in an interview that aired last month.
“They’ll be targeted arrests. We’ll know who we’re going to arrest, where we’re most likely to find ‘em based on numerous, you know, investigative processes,” he added.
Brian Hughes, a Trump senior adviser, said that when the president-elect returns to the White House, one of his priorities will be border security.
“President Trump won a landslide victory Tuesday because Americans embrace his common sense policy to secure our border and implement mass deportation for illegal migrants,” Hughes said.
Logistical challenges
Even before Tuesday night, some in the private sector who help provide services for detention spaces had already been in ongoing discussions about a potential second Trump term and are expecting planning to pick up, according to one of the sources.
One of the key elements of any plan to deport immigrants is detention space, which Democratic and Republican administrations have grappled with because of limited resources.
The federal government contracts with the private sector to build, operate and manage detention facilities, and works with county jails.
“There’s a small number of beds that are federally owned facilities. The rest of them are split between private detention facilities and county jails,” said John Sandweg, who served as acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement during the Obama administration. “There’s an ICE presence, but by and large the people operating the detention centers are employees of the contractors.”
There are a number of contractors the incoming Trump administration can lean on, including those who already have existing agreements with the federal government, making it a potentially easier process.
The hard part, current and former ICE officials said, is finding the money.
The average cost of apprehending, detaining, processing and removing one undocumented immigrant from the United States in 2016 was $10,900, according to figures released by ICE at the time. That year, ICE also said the average cost of transporting one deportee to their home country was $1,978. Since then, the costs have only grown.
ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations has generally been underfunded and has previously had to reprogram funds to expand detention space, especially during border surges. But there are limits to how much money can be reprogrammed, officials said

wirinet: The public apology was most probably part of the settlement agreement.
I think he would have collected more than N5million. The negotiations would have taken place in the presence of his lawyer. The lawyer too will collect his own share. N10 million and above sounds more reasonable.
This is the best outcome for both parties. The uber driver gets life changing money, the Uber he was driving might be on hire purchase or lease, and the House Member is left off the hook, he was facing legal trouble and house disciplinary committee.
@wirinet
I absolutely agree with everything you said here... Succinctly stated. As for that apology, I felt that the Bolt driver used a few adjectives in that video which could make the public to incorrectly think that he triggered the altercation which led to that House of Representative member (who also FALSELY claimed to be a Senator while being recorded) to react in a most despicable way, threatening to make him "disappear" and more. These dishonorable scenes were all broadcast on some major news networks around the world.
It's good though that this is coming to an end and let's hope the Bolt driver invests the few millions he's getting as compensation wisely because some folks worldwide are very bad when it comes to wisely investing millions from inherited from a late relative or from the lottery.
Wisdomkosi: Bolt Driver Apologizes to Hon Alex Ikwechegh Over Provocation, Begs Nigerians for Forgiveness
By Wisdom Nwedene
A Bolt Driver, Stephen Abuwatseya has finally apologised to House of Representatives member representing ABA North/South of Abia State in the National Assembly, Hon. Alex Ikwechegh for insulting him when he went to deliver a package to him.
In a video personally released to the press, Mr Abuwatseya begged Nigerians to forgive him and equally move forward.
According to him, "Good day, Nigerians. My name is Stephen Abuwatseya. I had a misunderstanding with Rt. Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh a few days ago. I actually want to apologize to him for whatever I must have said or done to provoke him to that level of anger. I want to tell Nigerians that it’s not time for us to start dividing ourselves based on religion, tribes, or regions. We should actually come together, see how we can unite this nation and move it forward."
Abuwatseya continued, calling for unity and forgiveness. “Please, Nigerians, let’s forgive and forget, as it’s even contained in our Lord’s Prayer, that ‘Lord, please forgive us, as we forgive those who trespass against us.' For there is no justice without forgiveness. Thank you very much."
In his heartfelt message, the driver also took time to thank his family and well-wishers for their support. "I want to use this medium to thank my family members, my parents, my brothers, my uncles, and everybody that stood by me. I want to appreciate all of you. I love you all. Thank you. God bless Nigeria."
This apology comes just days after Ikwechegh himself issued a public statement, acknowledging his actions and expressing regret over his behavior during the altercation. In a message posted on his Instagram account, the lawmaker apologized to the Uber driver, the Nigerian Police Force, and the National Assembly, asserting that his actions fell short of the standards expected from a public officeholder regardless of how intense the Provocation must have been.
Ikwechegh explained that he had engaged in alternative dispute resolution with Abuwatseya, which led to a "mutual and respectful agreement" between the two parties.
The profuse apology by this young guy in the video is highly unwarranted.
He should have simply said he has forgiven that highly dishonorable guy in the house of representatives and collect at least NGN 5 million of money as a final settlement or compensation for the verbal and physical assaults he got that night.
Alternative dispute resolutions are good though because they minimize the long time it takes to get justice in the regular courts.
"I Can Make You Disappear And Nothing Will Happen" - House Of Reps Member, Ikwechegh Slaps Bolt Driver
By Wisdom Nwedene
A Federal Lawmaker, representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly has allegedly assaulted a bolt driver in his compound in Abuja.
In a video seen by 9News Nigeria, the Bolt driver said he went to deliver something to the Lawmaler but he took offence and assaulted him just because the he asked the him to come to the car to pick up his package, which is snails he ordered from a vendor.
In the video, the lawmaker can be seen slapping the driver multiple times. Later the driver asked him "did you just slap me three times?", which je replied, "twice and you will soon receive the third slap".
Also, in the video, Ikwechegh was heard telling the vendor that he can make the driver disappear and nothing will happen.
"I can make you disappear in the whole of Nigeria and nothing will happen. Do you know who I am?".
"I am a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and I can lock you up in my Generator House and nothing will happen," Ikwechegh said in the viral video.
He also said he won't ask the police officers protecting him to beat up the driver but will do it himself.
Meanwhile, the action has generated a mixed reaction on the social media.
A Facebook user Ogochukwu said ;" This is very disappointing coming from a Lawmaker but again it also shows that a lot of our elected political office holders should have no business in governance."
"Imagine getting this violent because the bolt driver asked you come to the car and get your package. Imagine what he will do if it is a very serious offence committed against him."
LegendHero: Oye Owolewa, a Nigerian-American Democrat, has been re-elected as the shadow representative for the District of Columbia (DC).
Owolewa, a PhD graduate from Northeastern University in Boston, made history in November 2020 when he became the first Nigerian-American elected to congress.
He secured 164,026 votes, or 82.84 percent of the total votes cast in DC.
His role, while not officially recognised by the US government as a full member of congress, is to advocate for the district’s interests, particularly its bid for statehood.
On Thursday, Owolewa expressed his gratitude to DC voters via a post on social media, thanking them for their continued support.
“Thank you DC again for giving me chance to serve. I also want to thank the organizations that have supported, partnered with and endorsed me,” he wrote.
While shadow representatives like Owolewa do not have voting power in the US house of representatives, they play a key role in pushing for recognition and state-level advocacy for DC residents, who are otherwise disenfranchised at the federal level. Big props to Oye who's representating DC in the United States house of representatives.
The Malaysian government has announced plans to phase out the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) for vehicles and end the sale of natural gas vehicles (NGV) in the country.
Loke Siew Fook, minister of transport, spoke at a press conference recently, according to Free Malaysia Today (FMT), a local media organisation.
In Malaysia, CNG is referred to as NGV.
Fook said CNG-powered vehicles can no longer be registered or be used in Malaysia from July 1, 2025.
He also said Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), a government-owned oil and gas company, will halt the sale of CNG at its stations in stages, starting on July 1, 2025.
The minister said with only about 44,383 NGVs currently in the country — accounting for 0.2 percent of vehicles in Malaysia, excluding motorcycles — the safety of road users and the public will be restored.
“The NGV tanks of these vehicles are now reaching the end of their service life and need to be replaced and NGV tanks typically have a safe usage period of 15 years,” Fook said.
He further said there are also some car owners who have modified their vehicles using liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, which are very dangerous.
The minister said the vehicles had caused explosions during accidents.
‘WE ARE PROVIDING SUPPORT PACKAGES FOR THE TRANSITION’
Fook said an assistance package aimed at helping owners of CNG-powered vehicles during the coming transition period has been put in place.
“Taxi drivers using NGV vehicles are eligible for a one-off RM3,000 e-voucher through Petronas’s Setel mobile app,” he said.
“They must have been registered with the Land Public Transport Agency before October 1.
“For dual-fuel vehicle owners, they can get their NGV kits removed for free at workshops selected by the transport ministry. Their vehicles must be registered with the road transport department (JPJ) before October 1.
“Lastly, for owners of purely NGV-powered vehicles, they are eligible for a one-off payment based on the current value of their vehicles, which will be determined by an independent appraiser.
“For this package, the vehicles must also have been registered with JPJ before October 1.
“Upon taking up the offer, the vehicles will be sent to an authorised automotive treatment facility to be disposed of and deregistered by JPJ.”
Fook said it is necessary to prevent the misuse of the vehicles or for any illegal modification to be carried out on them as it would endanger the public.
He said payments under the support package will be made within three to seven working days “of receiving a vehicle’s certificate of destruction and deregistration slip”.
Malaysia introduced the use of compressed natural gas in the late 1990s for taxicabs and airport limousines.
In Nigeria, the federal government is pushing for the adoption of CNG as an alternative fuel for transportation.
The initiative, introduced by President Bola Tinubu as a measure to curb the impact of the removal of petrol subsidy on individuals, “attracted over $200 million in investments so far as the government plans to build 1,000 conversion centres” across the country. https://www.thecable.ng/malaysia-to-phase-out-cng-powered-vehicles-over-safety-concerns/
EKONGKING: At least 40 percent of Keke in India runs on CNG,that's almost 3 million vehicles . The government wants to encourage more Keke to go into CNG fuel. I have never heard about any vehicles suffering from blast related to CNG fuel.
News about Malaysia CNG is manipulated by obedient
There are indeed many daft posters with comprehension problems on this thread right from page one. The actual Cable article indicates that a few Malaysians used LPG to replace the safer CNG and this cause some car explosions. CNG is very safe and in Nigeria, Edo and Lagos States have been the FIRST states to use CNG since 2007 through the NNPC/NIPCO partnership and NO single explosions in cars have taken place. Edo State had over 5000 CNG cars on the roads as of 2012 before this NEWEST CNG conversation policy came up. That recent explosion of a cylinder in a car in Benin City was a pure act of sabotage to raise public panic and dissuade people from using CNG!
On the other hand, INFACT if anybody checks YouTube, you will find cars in Europe that have been using that same LPG that Malaysia said exploded due to bad handling by unqualified persons. A certified conversation expert is what was used for those vehicles running on LPG in Europe. So, LPG can also be used safely in cars if an expert handles it well. CNG is even SAFER.
Some clarification on the plan by Malaysia to phase out CNG powered vehicles:
1. The Malaysian issue speaks more to the safety of LPG NOT safety of CNG. In the original report, government transport minister Anthony Loke said:
“There are also some car owners who have modified their vehicles using liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, which are very dangerous.”
2. NGV covers both CNG and LPG. Nigeria in its transition has adopted CNG ONLY not both because of LPG valid safety and cost concerns
3.Malaysia basically had an unsuccessful transition away from costly and dirtier petrol and diesel. Conversion of 45,000 vehicles in 15 years (less than 0.2%) is not enviable unlike India, China, Iran and Egypt. The end of 15 year CNG tank cycle means they need to replace tanks and it was easier/cheaper to scrap their program and continue with their petrol than to do so if they had not built tank manufacturing capacity which Nigeria is already developing in year one.
Well , I jus wana let u knw that caribbean is very expensive. they dont produce anything here. Everything is is imported. They also depend on tourism. So I think Nigeria is still far more better than caribbean unless if you have a job here, then u'll be cool. But its very hard to get job here.
Nigeria is better than Caribbean. If you still insist to travel there, I'll advice you to consider USVI, BVI, Cayman Island, Bermuda and Bahamas. Don't even go near Grenada, ok, Good Luck
expertman: Belize is a nice country few years back its easier because they have a company that handles their application aside from their consulate which allows you to submit via third party.
Now that has been cancel and all application will go through the embassy.
Just make sure u have a genuine invitation letter most case an education invitation for conference is better just can easily be gotten from online.
This been said package your application and submit at their consulate in Abuja.
Atouke: What other aviation business takes place in kottoka airport in ghana, outside passenger traffic?
In Akwa ibom there's a maintenance hangar, for aircraft maintenance - big bussiness
There is an anchor airline- ibom air state owned- big bussiness.
There is facility for cargo management which ibom air will support- big business.
And there is plans to build an aviation training school, where pilot can get their commercial liscence, right there at the airport.
Tell me what business are in kotoka airport besides passenger traffic handling. Which by the way the new terminal in uyo is designed for 1million pax a year.
Aviation is not only about passenger handling only. If you've ever been to uyo airport, at the entrance of the airport you will see a large Industrial farm, with about 15 gigantic green houses. Those green houses produces, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers etc in commercial quantities, if capacity is expanded, that's another stream of income, that can easily be packed on a plane and arrives any destination around the world fresh, not to talk of our seafood.
Atouke: The Airport project in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital, is West Africa's biggest Aviation initiative that will greatly impact the Aviation sector in Africa. The project is massive, includes: 1). The smart terminal 3 storey building with 5 avio- bridges , capacity of 1million PAX / year. 2). CAT. 9 Apron. 3). Surface Carpark 4). Integrated Access way. 5). Second Runway/ Taxiway 3.5km×60m 6). Integrated Cargo handling terminal 7). MRO ( Maintenance hanger) the biggest in West and Central Africa.
if the building was built in Lagos, the Akwa Ibom state government will be earning massively from it per annum by now
If he choose to build it in unviable Onitsha Akwa or Enugu, you will be hailing him by now, and talking about how the south south and south east is one.
Ibom Air and the Uyo Airport are fantastic investments but you need more human traffic to bring in more returns. Tourism can also be massively developed to bring in more inflow of folks with disposable income into Akwa Ibom State.
Lagos State too should have an airline named "Eko Air or Eko Airlines" with another alternative name of "Ibile Air or Ibile Airlines" to compete on some lucrative air routes in Nigeria and regionally.
An "Odua Air or Odua Airlines" can ALSO take it's place as a regional alternative investment for Lagos State. Just my thoughts.
madridguy: Tinubu na serious old meat for Bush. A very handsome man back then before old age set in. Alhamdulilah he's one of the few lucky politicians in Nigeria.
Look at him throwing jab at the late Engr. Funsho Williams of PDP.
Watching this video just dey make me dey laugh, look for anyone who understands Yoruba to translate those his backup artists songs for you.
