EVarn: What I notice is that the NA is always quick to deny reports. This has seriously affected public trust in them. I think the NA should own up more when such attacks happen, there isn't any need for lies, it will definitely be revealed. Better to admit the truth:
"They attacked Damasak, and unfortunately overran the town due to information they must have acquired from insiders. We have noticed this unfortunate trend these past months, some unscrupulous elements and 5th columnists within the society are actively aiding and providing Intel to BH/ISWAP. However, concerted efforts are now in motion to reverse the attacks, and retake the town, we need the continuous support of the public to achieve victory. The NAF alpha jets and helicopters have been conducting robust strike actions against terrorist positions in the town. The NA wishes to reiterate that we are fully ready and equipped to secure Nigeria's territory and conduct our constitutional duties. Thank you". Full stop.
The public are like sheep, they get easily swayed and once convinced, it is hard to persuade them. That is why being a politician is difficult. So the army should notch up the propaganda, not lies, but propaganda.
Wait, were they able to overrun the military base in Damasak?
jakeporeshenko: Why do we need an attack heli with coaxial rotors ?
By the way Egypt got KA-52 almost 2 years ago now and they are still finding it difficult to gain operational status.
We need an attack helo with coaxial rotors because of the vulnerability of the tail rotor to AA gun. In the recent photoset released by ISWAP, you could actually see them aiming up their AA gun fire, presumably, against NAF's helicopter. And that is not their first time of shooting at NAF platforms with AA guns.
I had no idea though that KA-52 is giving the Egyptian some challenges.
Maybe, we should just hope that the Super Tucano gets delivered before the scheduled delivery date just like it happened in Afghanistan. That would solve a lot of problems.
jakeporeshenko: NAF AIRCRAFT DESTROY TERRORISTS’ GUN TRUCKS IN NIGHT ATTACK AT AUNO IN BORNO STATE
The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has destroyed some terrorists’ gun trucks in air strikes conducted at Auno in Borno State. The attacks were executed yesterday, 7 January 2019, whilst providing close air support for ground troops who were responding to an attack on their location. The ATF scrambled a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet and an Mi-35M Helicopter Gunship, supported by an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft, to locate and engage the group of terrorists’ gun trucks.
Overhead the target area, the ground troops were seen engaging the terrorists, who were in a convoy of gun trucks, in a fierce gun battle. After deconfliction, the Alpha Jet and Mi-35M took turns in engaging the terrorists causing them to beat an immediate retreat. In the process, 3 gun trucks were hit and destroyed while several of their fighters were neutralized. The hall of fire from exploding munitions in one of gun trucks was visibly seen. Some of the survivors, who were seen attempting to flee the location, were taken out in follow-on attacks.

jakeporeshenko: NAF either upgraded one of the sensors on their ISR platforms or a new software
I initially assumed it was a software upgrade but I think it is more than that. The ISR platform can now pick the tinniest movement that human may miss.
Plus those warm vehicle hoods lighted up like Christmas trees, hard to miss.
ugo4u: One puzzle I'm yet to unravel is how most American soldiers with heavy kits/body armour which even limits agility, still pile up casualties. One is left to wonder what's the essence of those heavy gear(atimes are up to 50pounds) if they're not keeping the soldiers save putting into cognizance the rounds being fired by Talibans(Ak 46). Korengal/restrespo and only the dead, are battlefield documentaries that are eye-openers to the uncertainty, fear and even confusion in the battlefield.
Most Americans KIA are actually as a result of IEDs and mortar attack on their base.
Not that I support our military draconian rules and approach to things, but the Daily Trust reported on an highly classified military operation still in its planning stage. Our journalists should learn to be professional. Just because you have a snoop does not mean you should reveal it all. Too many Nigerian journalists are actually ridiculing the profession by their uneducated behavior.
Odunayaw: Yeah I remember you explained Ghatak's role
In my spare time I consume everything I can find.
I can't seem to see enough to form an opinion on SIOT
Wait, how do you cope with people who can't fathom our enthusiasm for the military? Who ask questions like, "why would you download a Nigerian budget on your phone?! Why do you have so many military pictures on your phone?! Hope you are not Boko haram?! Lol. *Edited
psucc: Another Lai Mohammed. I think the best one can make out of the story is by reading it the other way round. Now reporting Boko Haram crisis attracts arrest and closure of the media house.
Yesterday, Ahmad Salkida reported that ISWAP was engaging own troops in "fierce battle" which started around 9:45 pm around Damasak. Above is a video showing the outcome of that attack.
Recall that ISWAP earlier attacked that same area (unfortunately NAF lost five fine personnel and one of her most potent Night fighting platform-MI35M).
As seen from the video above, ISWAP has been taught an unforgettable lesson.

Update: Multiple sources said #Nigeriantroops successfully repelled an #ISWAP attack last night, killing scores of the attackers and burning down at least 5 of their trucks. ISWAP, curiously, has not issued a statement, apparently because they suffered defeat. Credit: A. Salkida
Just In: Nigerian Army in fierce battle with #ISWAP fighters as at 9:45pm in Damasak, the same location where a military helicopter crashed, killing all officers on board. As expected, #ISWAP attack the same location repeatedly, this has been the pattern of most attacks. Credit: Ahmad S.
saint2ace: You have 2, I have 4, 2 wawu and 2 regular. One each for me and madam
I have one Wawu and one ordinary. I normally use the ordinary for their night plans. I will really miss them, especially for my YouTube and online gaming.
