The power sector is now an extortion racket. In my area they claim the metres are bad and give us estimated bills. Once the private guys came on board the estimates doubled then tripled. Now we pay on average ₦9,000 per month. |
django1: Because they started it so no need to caution them? But you're quick to come to their defence when a note of warning is given?I'm not defending them. I just feel they're beyond redemption. And I don't mean to pick on you. |
django1: 2. Why didn't you deem it fit to correct your fellow Easterners looking to get a tribal riot going?Because they started it I thought you were better than them. I guess I was wrong. |
oluamid: In the previous explosions we've seen more pictures taken by ordinary Nigerians than media outlets irrespective of the time of the day. What differentiates Lagos from the rest?As to pictures, someone has put some up now. I hope they satisfy you, though you had already answered the question of lack of pictures when you said the area is secluded. A cover up will prevent panic, retaliation, and negative effect on our image internationally and withdrawal of foreign investments (currently the govt is trying to give the impression that It's only the far North That's dangerous). Lagos the commercial nerve centre is safe and open for business. There's also the fear that people (PDP) will say it was APC that invited BH. Bombs being discovered is different from bombs exploding and killing people. Though the area is secluded, Tank farms in Apapa are high profile, soft targets that have the capability to create horrendous impact, the blast zone would be very large, the port will close, fuel scarcity will arise, foreign nationals will leave the country in droves and our economy will be adversely affected. I hope I've answered your questions. |
oluamid: Ask yourself this questions: how easy will it be to cover up a bomb explosion anywhere in Nigeria, not to talk of a place like Lagos?Seriously?! With this BH rampage going on, you hear an explosion and instead of going to hide under the bed, you'll run out to take photos? What if there's a secondary explosion targeted at first responders? The explosion occurred at night, how much detail are you even going to capture with your phone camera (even with the flash)? With respect to the media, some have already stated it was a bomb blast before BH's announcement. |
django1: South easterners are promoting hate online, right? Now how are you any different from the people making the comments that you find distasteful. A few faceless people make comments (insults, if you like) about 'southwesterners' and you in turn threaten 'southeasterners' |
edimat007: D question is, Y does it take him so long to claim responsibilty if he realy cause D lagos accident & Abuja bombing.A possible reason why it might take a long time to get the videos out is because It's being sent out by hand using a number of couriers (maybe even via a roundabout route) so that it is not easily traced back to their hideout. |
lafuria1: Any specific reason why they attack a fuel tank in Lagos? Because that will be the first Boko haram is targeting an infrastructure. For maximum damage. Think of a petrol tanker truck exploding, then try to visual one tank in a tank farm exploding, then all the tanks in a tank farm, then think of the chain reaction linking up all the tank farms in the entire Apapa complex. I wonder if Nigeria even has the capacity to put out such a blaze. We were extremely lucky (if that was a bomb). |
coogar: we have been told there are different levels of feminism here on NL. initially, it was measured in percentages. 50%, 60%, 80%, etcL☺L. And I thought you had it all sorted out... |
coogar: it's a movement invented by the female angels in heaven. they preach equality only by the words of mouth - rarely by their actions. Thanks for the info. ☺ |
coogar: so feminism isn't about equality then....it's about justice? To be honest, I don't know what feminism is about. That's why you haven't seen me use the word. |
coogar: nah - it's not a free world for the men.Equality is not (always) Justice. |
coogar: he can sue? It's a free world isn't it? You're just trying to put words in my mouth. |
coogar: but that baby wasn't a product of his actions when a woman decides to abort the child her partner really wants? The baby still is. And he can sue her if he wants. But That's not what we are arguing here, is it? |
coogar: if a woman can't be forced to have an abortion, why should men be forced to pay child support?Because the baby is a product of his actions. He contributed 50% of the DNA. |
coogar: never in a case like consensual sex between a man & a woman.Really?! What about all the guys paying child support? |
coogar: working in a company is the same as having consensual sex with a woman?I am not, you are. I can give you several examples (besides the company/employee relationship) that have been successful argued in courts of law all over the world to show that one can indeed be responsible for the accidental consequences of his actions. |
BABE!:I already said he has the option of patronising a prostitute or someone who is not interested in mothering, didn't I? |
coogar: this option is open to her as well. why can't she get vasectomy. you will have to find a birth control method a guy can use that is not applicable to women & there's none. She's not the one who decided she doesn't want to mother a child. The man might as well have patronised a prostitute (or someone he was sure is not interested in mothering). |
coogar: in consenting to any activity, one does not consent to yield to all the accidental outcomes that might flow from that activity......Why are companies liable for injuries to their staff while on the job? |
coogar: no he didn't!And That's why he needs to get a vasectomy; to ensure that his sexual activities remain irrevocable recreational. |
BABE!:L☺L Seriously?! |
BABE!:And my argument is that the point of not fathering a child that has already been conceived should not arise. He fathered the child when he donated half of It's chromosomes. |
BABE!:With a vasectomy someone has made a choice and is doing what is necessary to achieve it. Whereas forcing someone else to have an abortion is moving the responsibility for his choice and actions to someone else. |
BABE!:Why the comparison? |
swag loverss: If a man tells woman to get an abortion and she refuses, why should he be forced to pay child support? This is the most irresponsible statement I've heard since Year2000 (from someone who is not a politician). Please, how old are you? If a man is so sure he doesn't want children he shouldn't have sex or go get a vasectomy. He has no right to be making irrational demands when the horse has left the barn. |
The real question is "How long before Nigerians copy it?" |
akitijackson: It was banned at first cos of the sex scenesNope. It was banned due to the depictions of the Nigerian Civil War. "Some fear the film, which is seen as sympathetic to the Biafran separatist cause, could stoke up ethnic tensions" http://bbc.com/news/world-africa-27162545 |
andresia: Central to the militant group’s approach includesThe caption of this article is misleading and looks like a deliberate attempt to twist the truth. The only thing the US Officials say definitely is that Boko Haram's funding is not from international sources rather they are from local sources. All the other information in the article is about what they suspect and estimate. They only say kidnapping and other criminal activities are involved and appear to be main source of their local funding; and this does not in away exclude funding from local politicians (whether opposition or ruling party) who are basically the ones who have access to huge amounts of (liquid) cash via stolen government funds. Personally, I believe if kidnappings was that important to Boko Haram it would be much more rampant, the way it was during the Niger Delta militancy or even in the South-East. |
Help me count how many silly things she did.
|
justi4jesu: I like to hear from their mouth. You can try calling early in the morning (Nigerian time). |
Khalessi: Go read dailymail and see the caption under her pics. The dress didn't look this nice on the red carpet.Did you also notice that the only other person the DailyMail criticised was Nhlanhla Nciza and that both are Africans. Which to them probably translates as 'safe targets'. In my opinion, Tiwa Savage wasn't dressed much different from any of the other 'stars' at the event. |
