BusinessRe: PHCN Estimated Billing Is Closing Down So Many Small Bussinesses by XKZ(m): 5:06pm On Jul 15, 2014
The power sector is now an extortion racket.
In my area they claim the metres are bad and give us estimated bills.
Once the private guys came on board the estimates doubled then tripled. Now we pay on average ₦9,000 per month.

django1: Because they started it so no need to caution them? But you're quick to come to their defence when a note of warning is given? undecided

Anyway, I wasn't threatening violence but just pointing out the disastrous end of such misadventure as the one you lots are setting on.

Don't lump me together with your hate preachers, okay? Bye.
I'm not defending them. I just feel they're beyond redemption.
And I don't mean to pick on you.

Because they started it I thought you were better than them.
I guess I was wrong.

oluamid: In the previous explosions we've seen more pictures taken by ordinary Nigerians than media outlets irrespective of the time of the day. What differentiates Lagos from the rest?

The main questions are these:

Why would govt cover-up a bomb explosion in Lagos?

When bombs were discovered in a residential area of Lagos how come nobody covered it up?

All the previous bombs were detonated in residential area/places where there were lot of human traffic, why detonate a bomb in a secluded area of Apapa where the casualties will be minimal?

I'm not in denial, the evidences just don't stack up. Ponder this with an open mind.
As to pictures, someone has put some up now. I hope they satisfy you, though you had already answered the question of lack of pictures when you said the area is secluded.

A cover up will prevent panic, retaliation, and negative effect on our image internationally and withdrawal of foreign investments (currently the govt is trying to give the impression that It's only the far North That's dangerous). Lagos the commercial nerve centre is safe and open for business. There's also the fear that people (PDP) will say it was APC that invited BH.

Bombs being discovered is different from bombs exploding and killing people.

Though the area is secluded, Tank farms in Apapa are high profile, soft targets that have the capability to create horrendous impact, the blast zone would be very large, the port will close, fuel scarcity will arise, foreign nationals will leave the country in droves and our economy will be adversely affected.

I hope I've answered your questions.

oluamid: Ask yourself this questions: how easy will it be to cover up a bomb explosion anywhere in Nigeria, not to talk of a place like Lagos?
Does the govt own the media? Are people not in Apapa? No one has a mobile phone( to take pictures? No witnesses?
Seriously?!
With this BH rampage going on, you hear an explosion and instead of going to hide under the bed, you'll run out to take photos?
What if there's a secondary explosion targeted at first responders?
The explosion occurred at night, how much detail are you even going to capture with your phone camera (even with the flash)?
With respect to the media, some have already stated it was a bomb blast before BH's announcement.

Wind is what you're sowing, you will reap whirlwind.
Now how are you any different from the people making the comments that you find distasteful.
A few faceless people make comments (insults, if you like) about 'southwesterners' and you in turn threaten 'southeasterners'

edimat007: D question is, Y does it take him so long to claim responsibilty if he realy cause D lagos accident & Abuja bombing.
A possible reason why it might take a long time to get the videos out is because It's being sent out by hand using a number of couriers (maybe even via a roundabout route) so that it is not easily traced back to their hideout.
PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Claim Abuja, Lagos Attacks In New Video by XKZ(m): 3:33pm On Jul 13, 2014
lafuria1: Any specific reason why they attack a fuel tank in Lagos? Because that will be the first Boko haram is targeting an infrastructure.

Ok they attacked the apapa fuel tank but what's the reason?
For maximum damage.
Think of a petrol tanker truck exploding, then try to visual one tank in a tank farm exploding, then all the tanks in a tank farm, then think of the chain reaction linking up all the tank farms in the entire Apapa complex.
I wonder if Nigeria even has the capacity to put out such a blaze.
We were extremely lucky (if that was a bomb).

coogar: we have been told there are different levels of feminism here on NL. initially, it was measured in percentages. 50%, 60%, 80%, etc

later, they broke it into different idealisms. liberal, feminazis, socialist, cultural & eco-feminism, etc.

coogar: nah - it's not a free world for the men.
women have told us no one can control what they do with their bodies regardless of what their partners want and that's fine by me.

by the same token, men should also have total control of what he spends his money on regardless of what his partner wants. women should govern their bodies, men should govern their own wallets.

that to me is equality!
Equality is not (always) Justice.

you are funny!
I am not, you are.
I can give you several examples (besides the company/employee relationship) that have been successful argued in courts of law all over the world to show that one can indeed be responsible for the accidental consequences of his actions.

She's not the one who decided she doesn't want to mother a child.
The man might as well have patronised a prostitute (or someone he was sure is not interested in mothering).

No one can force a woman to have an abortion. It's her choice.

My argument is that a man shouldn't be forced to pay child support for a child he doesn't want to father. No one forced the chic to Keep the baby, so why force the man to pay child support?
And my argument is that the point of not fathering a child that has already been conceived should not arise. He fathered the child when he donated half of It's chromosomes.

Why not the comparison ? Someone brought vasectomy up in their post.
With a vasectomy someone has made a choice and is doing what is necessary to achieve it.
Whereas forcing someone else to have an abortion is moving the responsibility for his choice and actions to someone else.

swag loverss: If a man tells woman to get an abortion and she refuses, why should he be forced to pay child support?

For instance, a man impregnated a woman and decides that he is not mentally, physically or financially able to support a child and tells the mother to go get an abortion and the woman refuses, why should the man have to pay child support?.

I mean if a woman decides to keep the baby, that's her decision, not the man's. The man made it clear that he didn't want the child then why should he have to take care of the child since it was the woman who wanted to keep it and not him?
This is the most irresponsible statement I've heard since Year2000 (from someone who is not a politician).
Please, how old are you?

If a man is so sure he doesn't want children he shouldn't have sex or go get a vasectomy. He has no right to be making irrational demands when the horse has left the barn.

PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Not Sponsored By Anti-jonathan Politicians — US Officials by XKZ(m): 12:49pm On Jul 05, 2014
andresia: Central to the militant group’s approach includes
using hard-to-track human couriers to move cash,
relying on local funding sources...
“Our suspicions are that they are surviving on very lucrative criminal activities that involve kidnappings,” U.S.

Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Linda Thomas-Greenfield said in an interview.

Officials with deep knowledge of Boko Haram’s finances say that any links with al Qaeda or its affiliates are inconsequential to Boko Haram’s overall funding.

Ransoms appear to be the main source of funding for Boko Haram...

Figures vary on how much Boko Haram earns from kidnappings. Some U.S. officials estimate the group is paid as much as $1 million for the release of each abducted wealthy Nigerian.

Much of Boko Haram’s military hardware is not bought, it is stolen from the
Nigerian army.

.
The caption of this article is misleading and looks like a deliberate attempt to twist the truth.

The only thing the US Officials say definitely is that Boko Haram's funding is not from international sources rather they are from local sources.
All the other information in the article is about what they suspect and estimate.

They only say kidnapping and other criminal activities are involved and appear to be main source of their local funding; and this does not in away exclude funding from local politicians (whether opposition or ruling party) who are basically the ones who have access to huge amounts of (liquid) cash via stolen government funds.

Personally, I believe if kidnappings was that important to Boko Haram it would be much more rampant, the way it was during the Niger Delta militancy or even in the South-East.

Which to them probably translates as 'safe targets'.
In my opinion, Tiwa Savage wasn't dressed much different from any of the other 'stars' at the event.
