Religion / Re: Have The Bible Lost Its Value? Replaced With Tablets In Churches by XKZ(m): 9:50am On Oct 29, 2017
The word of God is the word of God, whether it's on a stone tablet, a paper bible or an electronic tablet.

What a lot of Christians don't realise is that they're practising a form of idolatry (and mythism) when they ascribed supernatural powers to the book (a physical object).

I can imagine those who argue against electronic bibles (tablets, phones, e-readers) now, being around when paper bibles started coming out, they would have condemned it and insisted that worshippers should use stone tablets like the ones God gave to Moses

I wonder why someone's requirements should bother you.
If his requirements seem unreasonable to you just move on, he's obviously not your type.

If all ladies ignore him and his requirements, eventually he'll be forced to reconsider, but if he comes across someone who meets his requirements then they're probably compatible and would have a happy marriage. And we all love seeing happy marriages.

As an aside, women need to stop waiting for men or bothering about men putting them through ridiculous tests. Just work hard make your own money, then look for a young undergraduate to spoil with your money, you can then test him to see if he's humble and if he passes your test you propose. If he rejects your proposal just move on there are a lot of fishes in the water.

Depends on the age of the children.
Until children reach an age when concepts like "state of origin" make sense to them they can not know their state of origin.

Was in an accident on 3rd Mainland Bridge, phone fell out of my hand during the process. After things had calmed down went back and searched the vehicle and surrounding area but couldn't find it. Called it but it wasn't ringing.

Possibly I couldn't see it because my glasses got broken... but after I told some members of the crowd that gathered what I was looking for, they were able to find my smashed glasses but not the phone.

If the men didn't have it originally they developed it as they aged.

Gerrard59:

I can understand the biases (same applies to female executives). However, affirmative action does not solve it. As businesses, the aim is to make profit. If a recruiter believes employing a (fe)male will do the job and brings forth profits, so be it.

No doubt, females pioneered the industry. However, we have less females opting for Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics degrees, which are the disciplines these firms recruit their technical hands from. Instead of stipulating laws and creating spaces, young lasses should be encouraged to study such courses/disciplines and invariably, firms will have a wider pool to pick/choose from.

How come no one demands gender parity in welding, truck-driving, construction jobs?

When it was seen as a easy job (compared to hardware) suitable for women, it had lots of women because they were encouraged to do it.
When it became lucrative they were discouraged.

As you pointed out women need to be encouraged to go into the field and it is creating spaces and opportunities for them in those fields that would encourage them join the fields.

You've raised a good question about welding and construction jobs... Maybe the fact no one is pushing gender parity in those industries indicates that where they make requests, such requests are actually objective and merit based

There is not nothin like feminism, take it or not. Those who are callin for feminism are ungrateful because of their greediness. They will neva fight to go to war, to do vigilante etc. If they wanted security they would not ask for women like them to be their security and their drivers are men. If they really believe that women are equal to men, all the first ladies should have women as their security or whenever there is fire outbreak only women firefighters should be release to do the job so we can know the truth.

Gaddafi had all-female bodyguards
Women are drafted into the Israeli army
There are female fire fighters in most western countries

Okay then, when do ladies start paying Groom Price, footing Wedding bill, Advocate for Paternity leave for men, propose to men for marriage. I cant wait to see this happen grin

Bride price comes from the groom's side
Dowry comes from the bride's side
The society you live in determines which is required. And even in countries like India where a dowry is expected from the bride there is still gender inequality directed at women.
Point is, it is not about the money.

Paternity leave – Men don't get pregnant

Proposal – Society frowns on women proposing and that's why they probably don't do it (it's part of the inequality that needs to be tackled). But even then some women have done that.

....and this is the problem I have with today's feminism. People should be appointed to positions not because of the gender but what they contribute and their worth. It is mediocrity to force companies to employ females because of gender parity even when they are not as qualified as the other gender or the pool is small to pick from. Ditto with political positions, a woman who wants to run for an office should do so, and not expect voters' approval because "I'm a woman". Earn the voters' support and not affirmative action.

During the Google and James Damore debacle, it was discovered that there are less women in tech and as such, tech firms should employ more females. But this wrong as it breeds mediocrity, whereby firms have to keep slots for females because of gender parity and not meritocracy. There are few females opting for Computer Science degrees juxtaposed to the male category (culture contributes to an extent), how then can companies employ enough coders, programmers (not Gender Studies graduates) to be same as with males?

By the way, we've many females preachers, inheritance is culture specific and is changing (The Supreme Court did something on that esp for the Igbos circa '03)

The fact that people ask for fairness (whether based on gender, or race) doesn't mean they're pushing mediocrity.

People have biases and where there isn't an active means of maintaining balance people in power tend to favour those who look like them. A man inherently believes a man will do a better job when presented with two candidates (male and female) with exactly the same characteristics.

With respect to your opinion on women in coding kindly read the article below.

To me, feminism is much more complicated in marriage. In marriage, there can never be two equals, there has to be a leader.
Evolution and cultural influence has made a man assume that role naturally and willed women to take the back seat. If both parties reach a conclusion on how to run their homes and decides on who does which chores and how collective money is spent, I think society(me and you) owes it to them to stay outta their buisness and leave them to manage their own life.

In other words, it is not compulsory the woman performs all the chores. . The couple can decide what they want.

I think we should elevate gender equality beyond what goes on in the family. If two people have chosen a way to run their marriage and it works for them, I don't see why it should be anyone else's business.

The questions I think we should be asking is how many women hold political appointments, what's the probability of voters choosing female aspirants, how many top Nigerian companies have female CEOs, what's the male to female ratio on company boards, are inheritance customs fair to women, can women aspire to religious, customary and spiritual leadership, are there double standards in the way society treats women versus men, do men and women generally have equal standing before society etc...

Have you carried out a well detailed research to prove your thesis. Are you in every marriage thst you fully understand who foots the bill?

Sounds like a biased comment to me.

Only asking for well detailed research to determine who foots the bill in every marriage, while tacitly accepting the second part of his argument that women perform all the chores.

The truth is that the cost of production has reduced globally.

Nigeria still ranks 3rd as the most expensive country as per cost of oil production per barrel as can be seen in the attached image.

The most expensive in terms of OPEC members in cost of oil production.

This government should stop these halve truths.

http://graphics.wsj.com/oil-barrel-breakdown/

Your data gives the price of production in Nigeria as less than $30/barrel as at March 2016
So does this mean our government is lying to us or just giving us out dated news.

This is especially necessary when you're sharing an enclosed space like an aeroplane cabin.
