For a family of three (3), you will need a minimum POF of $19093CAD which is about N5.4M using the current exchange rate.

Dear friends,

I ordered GCMS Notes via a Canadian citizen; The PDF file was a 169 Paged sheet which I got last week Thursday.
My AOR is Feb.16, 2018.

The only thing I could pick up quickly was - TRANSFERRED TO LONDON VISA OFFICE on March 15, 2018 though there are some other codes, eligibility & other infos needing decoding.

Can you please recommend sites where I can send to interpret the extensive notes?

I am seeing offers over $50 hence looking for a reliable but cheaper analyst.

Take a look at an explanation of GCMS Notes on https://ladatwork./2018/04/28/ip2-updated-ft-gcms/. You might get an idea or two.

For ITA recipients in Abuja, I checked in on IOM yesterday. They have dates free from 2nd May for medicals, so hurry and book in your dates.
To book, just send a mail - stating your preferred date - to iomabujamedicalbooking@iom.int

Note that they don't do Canada medicals on Fridays and they don't work on weekends.

Just a reminder to ITA recipient in respect of the above. Ensure your medicals is done just few days before submitting your application. It has a validity of one year. This is better in case your PPR/COPR gets delayed.

Good day all. So much unnecessary banters in the last few pages though. I just thought it will be wise to chip in something. For those wanting to do a PGD in NOUN, why don't you go for Masters degree instead? A Master degree holds more points than a PGD and first degree combine. I believe it will take the same amount of time for a Master degree program as it will take on a PGD program in NOUN (18 months). If you had a BSc in say Computer Science and came out with at least a 2.2, it will be really unfortunate to go do a PGD in NOUN while you can simply opt for a MSc in Info Tech. Just my one cents.

For those making inquiry about the cost, just budget about N200,000 for an MSc or PGD program in NOUN.

sir/ma, I followed your post and I realized we are almost in same shoes, am currently on my Phd program outside naija and am on this PR journey as well, my intention is to transfer my course credits to Canada along the way when everything finally falls through Gods grace, I dont know about your school but where I am its possible you transfer your course credits to any institution that is ready and willing to take you in.. if your school do such, I can advice you to continue, and getting a Phd admission when you get to Canada is not that difficult as it seems once you have a good research proposal and even your status as a PR is not a disadvantage to getting the admission. I currently know 2 of my former colleagues on PR in Canada and are doing their research, the good thing again is that is even funded, coming almost free. as others have said earlier its all your decision. all the best sir/ma

Thank you for your input. Really appreciate it. I have decided to hold on till the last day the admission offer will elapse. If PPR comes before then I will forgo the admission, if not I will carry on, so help me God. Thanks again for opining.

For info, Phds are basically free abroad (even with Nigerian passport) because the society is benefiting from your research. Just that admission is highly competitive.

Secondly, your PhD coursework in Nigeria is maximum one year. Every other thing is research you don't need do much physical presence. You can be communicating with you advisor electronically.

I don't have energy to type please draw conclusions based on the facts I've stated above in combination with advice others have given you.

Thank you very much Sir, I appreciate your effort to share your thoughts. I guess the system varies from school to school. I my school, no coursework is done for PhD in Biochemistry. Just your research.
Steps are actually
1. Get a researchable topic and have your supervisor agree with the topic (he can choose to modify it to suit standards and his taste)
2. Prepare for project proposal seminar to the department. Where you are meant to do a power point presentation on your chosen topic to lecturers and students and invited guests
3. They will grade you and content of your presentation and ask you to go ahead with the research work or not (most unlikely if you have laised well with your supervisor)
4. Start lab work on your research and get results.
5. Interpret the results and have your supervisors approval on the results interpretation
6. Prepare a department presentation on results obtained from the lab work. Take questions, comments and some grills in your field.
7. If the profs are satisfied with your work, you will be well graded accordingly or asked to repeat the presentation (if poor) although very unlikely.
8. Submit synopsis to PG school and get a date for external defense on your thesis.
9. Finally defend your work in front of a Senate committee of the school and get graded accordingly. Then you are awarded your degree after some time - Senate results sitting and clearance.

Lol...looking at the processes now I just dey mop with fear.

If I were you, I will simple explore all options available. I dont know the level you are in this canny dream. If you are still far away, just accept the admission at the same time search for admission offers in Canada and start ur EE process too. Who knows.....

I'm in a similar condition but done with second year. I will be writing IELTS soon and hope my graduation will come in about a year. In fact, as soon as my final defence is done and I have my PR ready I will run out of this country without even waiting for official convocation sef.

Summary : Don't throw away what you have at hand instead accept it and at the same time explore other options. If the better (PR or Canadian admission) one clicks abandon the other. With this it will be a win - win situation.
Peace!!!

Thank you for your valuable input. Also to all who gave their well thought opinion, I say thank you.
@Vancouver4, I am already at IP2(27th FEB) that's the stage next to PPR. As earlier stated, submitted my application and got AOR Nov, 2017. By God's grace hoping to get PPR at worst next month.

In addition to the suggestions already made, let me add my #2cents too.
I am a bit familiar with the graduate program formalities in Canada and i can tell you that you stand a better chance getting accepted to a PhD as a PR there. The process usually starts with you identifying potential supervisors in your university of choice and contacting them to explain how your work aligns with them and why you are qualified to be admitted to the graduate program (MSc./PhD.). This is usually the hardest stage because you need to show you know the research interests of the professor and that you are motivated. From personal experience, these professors prefer PR or citizens because they cost less in terms of funding compared to foreign students. My point with all of this is that you shouldn't think your chances of gaining admission to a Canadian university are slim. In fact, the opposite is true, especially if you have some publications (which I assume you do, as an MPhil.).
However, since you do not have physical evidence of PR yet, you have nothing to lose and all to gain by accepting the PhD admission you have at hand. Then when the PR comes, you can re-evaluate your options.
If I were you, this is exactly what I would do. I hope this helps.
Regards.

Thank you so much for this insight. You are very correct about the bolded. I remember when I started the MPhil, my Msc supervisor was a Prof. that had mood swings. I went through hell during my MSc with him, so he was not an option. The one I preferred - a decent nice deeper life Prof. said he was not keen on the area I am working on (Food and Nutrition). The third prof's excuse was that he is occupied. I was almost giving up until my cousin personally spoke to one of our Prof. on my behalf. At then he seems not likely an option because he was mostly into Environment and Toxicology. But he give me a chance and I guess I impressed him with my proposal and was able to convince him of a novel idea of research area I had in mind to work on. So far so good, he has been most kind and unlike my MSc Supervisor, an Angel of sort. As he is urging me on for the PhD. During the MPhil, I had to buy almost all equipment I used to do my research which was almost clocking 1M (Due to poor state of our laboratory), so I am still using these equipment for continuation of my research.
My fear about getting into the school system in Canada is because my BSc is quite poor (2.2) and MSc also poor (57%) hence the MPhil. But funny enough my NOC is IT based(0213). Never had paid working experience as a Biochemist.
Was hoping for a lecturing job before PR dream started floating and now almost a reality. 9ja is really frustrating person (Had to go for a BSc in Comp. Sc. (2.1) (finished last year along with the MPhil) just to widening my options for a better work opportunity. With all these educations I am still not sure how life here might look like (As my only connection, Honorable or politician person na Baba God). So my firm decision to move. But as per Job in CAD, I don't know what the situation is with the Biochem certs too. I am staking my bet more on the BSc in Comp Sc. along with work experience as that is what I have been doing for 10yrs now. Someone advised me to go for an Msc program with my BSc Comp Sc. or a course with Biochem and CS in CAD if the PR clicked and forget the PhD in 9ja.
I am sorry if blaring my life story here seems like a bore, but I just need a guided direction from Seniors. Your knocks and suggestions are highly appreciated.

Lo, my point is that you should accept it and start. If when you get your PPR you find out it wont be possible to continue it while retaining your PPR then you can always abandon the PHD and return to Canada. You loose nothing by doing the PHD while waiting to land in Canada to see things for yourself....

@Ethelia, I must confess I am tilting towards your reasoning. Thank you Sister.

Bro, the earlier you adapt in Canada, the better for you. In Canada, foreign certificates don't matter much . Even after completion of PHD in Nigeria, you'll still hustle in Canada as a learner because there is no Canadian experience. You can always earn money while pursuing your PHD in Canada (where education better pass Naija sef), not to talk of school loans you can access as well. Tbh, this is a no-brainer for me.

Cheers

A big sense you are making here.

In the word's of my Brother "Carry on... You can be the next George Weah. After touring the world and through it all, you might one day come home and be the next president or head NAFDAC. You never know. Your PhD counts 20, 30 years from now at HOME."
The home talk was churning my stomach... I was like, "this 9ja we all wan run leave angry undecided When I don dey carry the red and white flag with maple leaves already in my dreams." But I felt he also has a point. Everyone has valid points, but I am still at sea. I just wish I know the processes for studies in CAD, if it is going to be as easy or less difficult as admission process, research process and study process in 9ja.

I understand your fears but I don't agree that a PHD from Nigeria would be useless in Canada. It might not put you on equal footing with other PHD holders in Canada but atleast you wont have to start from bachelors level (I hope I'm making sense...)

The choice remains yours but a bird in hand is worth 5 in the bush. I don't think you should just reject the phd. Atleast accept it first and start.... No one knows what might happen tomorrow. Canada might pass a new law stating you need to spend 1 year out of 5 to renew PR grin

I don't usually laugh much, but the bolded got me. cheesy grin grin

Amen O

Thanks once again. Sharing this out has been really helpful. I guess you're right.

PHD in Nigeria takes like 4 years if I am correct, he will not be able to meet the required number of days in Canada if he insists on completing that PHD.

My advice@ xtosync is to forget the PHD, as far as I am concerned no be school we dey go for here walahi, do not waste your time getting frustrated with the educational system here. Except there are other factors ooooo, Canada may be tough settling in and all that but you will be fine.

My advice is to get there, look for PHD openings as a permanent residen , you may work whilst you apply for positions and you may still work while doing the PHD....

Thank you for your input. I am not very confident if I could get a PhD opening in Canada easily with a Supervisor that will be willing to take a PR on. Aside that I am also weary of the cost implication (Even as PR the money fit no be rice and beans I guess when compared to 9ja own). But as you rightly said, the education system is terrible here as evident from the current NASU strike. I just feel it could have been a walk in the park doing it in a familiar terrain since it will be like a continuation from my MPhil. A friend also with MPhil, wrapped hers up in two years and is just waiting for the administrative works to complete 3years before getting her result. I just 'tired o' 9ja no try. Is not that I like book too much but what can one do when that dream job refuse to come if not to dey kill time with studies and books.
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 3 by xtosync: 1:07pm On Mar 06, 2018
Thanks for the quick response I really appreciate you. PhD duration is minimum 3years and Maximum 5 years in my school. I finished the MPhil from same school so I kinda have everything in place - Supervisor, research topic and familiarity with the process from A-Z. So I believe I shouldn't be spending more than that 3 years on it, God willing. I just have this silent fear that having a PhD from 9ja MIGHT be useless in Canada.
Ethelia:

Go ahead with your PHD. When you get your PPR you can go for a short landing before coming back to complete your PHD. Do you anticipate your PHD taking more than 2 and a half years to complete?

I just got admission to start my PhD here in 9ja and am currently sitting at IP2 with Nov AOR. MED taking on 30th Oct. So if I am issued PPR I should have till then to leave 9ja. Should I go ahead with the PhD studies or I should ignore the admission knowing fully well that I can't complete it without going and coming back to 9ja? I can't even predict what life in Canada will be like (As in can I do the PhD there with my 9ja degrees -Bsc-Msc-Mphil (Biochem.)). I know life in Canada will be job first, two or more years later school matter could follow and Only God knows. Please I need your candid advice

Ops! My bad. Didn't know you are female.
Thank you for the advice. I doubt if anyone will be able to forge a TCC cos it is easily verifiable as all the details are quite visible therein. But funny enough out of the three person I inquired from in my state, two work in the tax office quoting different price - 110 and 120. while the agent was the 130k own, promising me it will be out in less than a week as he has people in high position in the office...lol
KayVann:
The rate will always be relative because of the amount of profit declared at the end of the year, mine was about 150 in total. Please ensure you don't use any agents because CIC confirms the tax code generated to ensure authenticity . BTW am female smiley .
