PoliticsRe: Why Are Tinubu Supporters So Obsessed With Peter Obi? by XY23: 9:40am On Mar 15, 2023
Vinnie2000:
Tinubu was announced by INEC as Winner of the Presidential election!

Instead of his Supporters like Helinius and DenreleDave to Celebrate and Tell us the Programmes he Has, they are still Focussed on Peter Obi!
Creating 15,20 Peter Obi Threads Daily! shocked 😕

Was Obi the one, declared as Winner? Why no Threads on Atiku? 🤔

Well, the BRIGHTEST Fruit on a Tree, Get the Most Sticks from People! cool

Nobody goes for the Rotten Mango on the Tree! ☹️

But Why are Urchins so Obsessed with Peter Obi? huh

I Need Answers!
Simple, they have realized a king without subjects (the people) is not different from an ordinary man on the street. The propaganda machinery is still on because they claimed to have won, but lost the people. That in itself breeds a lot of uncertainty about our future as a Nation, hence they are scared.
PoliticsRe: Is Peter Obi Brainwashing His Supporters Like Kanu by XY23: 6:32am On Mar 15, 2023

But it's almost going to a decade you guys have been failing front to front, back to back. Why should we take you guys seriously this time around?
No, not you guys; the brainwashed might include your professors, religious leaders, or significant others. Like I said, when this season is over, your likes would understand what 'conditioning' means. Your perception of reality, facts and logic has become flawed. I see BAT's supporters as sentimental not brainwashed. Aren't we all? After all, humans are creatures of emotions than logic.

helinues:
Kanu's tactics was to hide behind his gadgets, brainwashed his supporters to believe in his cause by force by fire, ask for donations to keep the mission going then do the follow up brainwashing by consistent posting on social media

Obi to start with knew he can't win the election, yet still go pick Datti who has little political relevancy in North, replaced majority of old LP executives with his cronies.

Imagine a presidential candidate that billion of Naira was donated but still sleeping at the airport waiting for his flight. Now Peter Obi is asking for another round of donations so that he can head to court while also staying behind his social media accounts to continue the brain damaging.

Gate gate, 2 legs on ground... Hahahaha pattern dey
Yes, brainwashed over 6 million Nigerians belonging to different strata of the Nigerian society. When this season is over many of you will fail basic logic test.

Nairaland is impacting the spirit of bitterness and hatred through tribalistic and bigoted statements which is not good for a healthy soul, the management of this forum should do the needful to make it a positive environment for both news, education and entertainment, thanks....
there's power in words
I too have noticed the 'conditioning' of many people here. Funny thing is that they think ot won't rub off on their everyday life and social integration dynamics. Bitter comments made too often creates a bitter soul. Politicians have really done a number on some bright minds, without them even realising it.
PoliticsRe: What Are Your Predictions Of A Tinubu Presidency, See Mine. by XY23: 3:03am On Mar 14, 2023

I wish it were true but I don't believe that 8% growth per year growth for the next 8 years is achievable.

In Nigeria, periods of strong growth often coincided with periods of big increases in global commodity (mainly oil) prices - the 1970s with the Arab oil embargo, the 2000s with China's entry into the WTO and oil prices going from a low $9 p/b in 1999 to circa $100 by 2011/12, and the 1960s post-independence boom with the discovery of oil deposits. It highlights that much of Nigeria's growth thus far is simply riding the tail winds of commodity rallies.

I think the last 8 years has seen Nigeria dig a big hole for itself which is severely underestimated. Presently, tax revenues barely covers debt expense so the first task will need to be ensuring fiscal stability. I don't believe you are going to see a big uplift in taxes. People extrapolating from the Lagos experience in the immediate period from 1999 are being naive. Nigeria as a whole saw a big increase in tax revenues and GDP from 1999 as the economy's size went from $50bn to a peak of circa $570bn in 2013/14 and the country's economic capital benefited immensely from that. There is no reason to assume this, or anything remotely close, will repeat itself.

You are right that deregulation of petrol and exchange rates will reduce the fiscal burden and the latter should boost non-oil exports (all things being equal). The reality also is that in the short run, it will cause a lot of adjustment pain by fueling even higher inflation which the CBN will need to counter by hiking up interest rates. So this monetary offset, if combined with more fiscal prudence (lower government spending and higher tax intake), will counter the growth boosting effects from deregulation. I can't see where you get your 8% growth from.

My proposal will be to do the exchange rate deregulation first. Negotiate a huge IMF loan/debt rescheduling agreement with creditors to boost forex inflow, investor confidence and fiscal sustainability. We can phase out petrol subsidy by year 2 or 3.

We then need to run a big privatisation effort with the ports, NNPC etc (the IMF will insist on this anyway). Again, this can boost forex inflow and investor confidence.

The total net effects of the above won't boost growth immediately but it will begin to unravel some of the policy errors we have been making over the years.

PS: One thing that scares me about Tinubu is that his one big idea for the economy is that we should print more money so we can spend more. That is utterly insane and there is not much else I can add on that.
Fiscal prudence I am afraid can't be the thrust of APC (BAT's) government. That is why the possible outcome of his tenure is predictable. Profligacy would sink Nigeria deeper, based on its current debt burden and export index. We see the facts, are but always quick to ignore them but prefer wishful thinking instead.

Politicians will be laughing at us right now.

I remember during endsars, majority of endsars protesters from my neighborhood were yorubas. Then we saw "Igbos organized endsars to burn down Lagos. Yoruba eronu". I was like what that fog?

Thats the tacticts...once Nigerians can burst this weapon, those politicians will loose their power.
It has always been so. Every political movement for liberation must be given an ethnic/religious colouration by this same people. My pity is for the undiscerning majority who buy into it. Policy after policy by the government in power, many Nigerians are poorer today than they were in 2015. Sadly, in their forlorn state, many are still riled up in defence of the primordial sentiments (tribe or religion) promoted by politicians; against the pillars of social justice and common sense. I just can't stop laughing. What a country.

Do you agree with this?
Lol. It would take decades for the citizens of this country to catch up to the gimmicks of the political class. They have taken the poor masses back to 2015, and one can only anticipate another round of 8-year long misadventure. By then, many supporters on all political divides would have grown some gray hair. Some people actually think Nigerians can be free without paying any price (giving up tribalism, bigotry etc). Hopefully, when that time comes, it won't be too late.
PoliticsRe: South East Is Not Interested In Any Position From Tinubu by XY23: 3:54pm On Mar 12, 2023
Johnjustice:
Nobody is giving south east nothing, meanwhile your brothers in APC, are lobbying, begging cap in hand for positions from Tinubu. Nairaland makes inconsequential poor simpletons feel important grin
The OP just highlighted salient points that should make any reasonable person shiver. If Nigeria of today is what you desire for your children, by all means APC should ensure it shares all appointments amongst it's supporters. Maybe by 2027, you'll be among those clamouring for a change while others would have moved on. The endless cycle of interests has reversed our progress as a nation. What a shame.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu went visiting Tony Elumelu with neither you nor me but Seyi Tinubu in his company.
Tony Elumelu in turn introduced his ladies to Tinubu and the networking is becoming generational.

Did you hear Tony Elumelu saying "When you need a young female Minister i can loan her to you"
Perhaps she doesn't have a PVC neither will she stay under scorching sun to vote.

Have you pondered why you and I were never invited to their meeting?

Sit down there and be destroying the 10gigabyte relationship/networking you have because of them.
They'll continue to make billions in hard currencies through networking while you continue to gather enemies because of your inane support for those that barely know you exist

Your face will soon be clear, continue to fight with your friends..... 🤷‍♂️
Unfortunately, many will not learn. When life hits you hard, the politicians for whom many destroy viable relationships for today, won't be there. When you've made enemies of other tribes because of the same politicians, what then would be your fate?

Desmond Elliot has donated transformer to his constituents 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 he really upgraded from building toilets to this !!!

Obidients press their necks harder
The need has always been there, so did the people (end-users); but the service was denied them. If only the masses knew they belong to the same camp (of the oppressed & exploited); we would be assessing politicians on the basis of the contents of their character rather than ethnicity or religion.
