I don't know what you use for your graphics but I use photoshop and it has "save for the web". If fireworks, I have no idea but I am sure a similar function, considering both software are owned by the same company, exists.

Hmm, I still don't see that particular page. Is this the page you get after you sign in? Is it possible to give me a test username/password (YIM it to me) for testing purposes? If you don't feel comfortable doing so, did you consider putting your overlay in an iframe?

Sha, i no go lie, I first saw an advert for darrels in a local directory in 2007. When I saw this post, I went to the directory to go through the adverts as I remember emailing all of them in that book telling them their sites could do better. Lo and behold, they still have a "website".

what stock photo sites do u frequent? I use getty images a lot and there, u can drill down to race, number of ppl, age, etc.

From a Naija perspective, many ppl I have chatted with tell me that they get naija-specific photos by scanning photos in magazines and optimizing same scans for the web.

Tech pros, unlike YIM, I believe you need to type "" and not "d"

I personally see nothing wrong with the logo et al. I was referring to the gray background. I would probably change that to the same color as the "yellow" background of the coal city logo.

I dunno, maybe it's just me but the gray makes the site look dull.

Your link didn't come up but this is a common problem. I have solved this by using either z-index or an iframe or in some instances both. Whereby what is bleeding through is very "tiny", I usually fix the problem via javascript by setting visibility of the element to hidden.

I believe I even have a tutorial or quiz on this here somewhere.

One of my hungry designer friend in Enugu wanted to do promo so he put up a banner website design and hosting 5k. When people called they still wanted to price it to 1,500.

Nice wordpress customization

The key to the success of such a site is constant updating. Don't let it go stale. By the way, what plans have you made with respect to liaising with your state government. I heard the guy who did the cross river tourism board site actually did it on his own and then somewhere along the line, the state government saw it and rather than do a separate one, bought him out. Dunno if it is true but that is what I heard.

Other than the fact that your big images at the top are grainy and the gray background makes it look a little dull, tis a very good customization IMHO. Makes me wanna go learn wordpress customization

You can't agree and disagree at the same time. No offense, but IMHO if you can't take the time to do what is good, naija or no naija factor, it shows a sense of (programmer) immaturity.

Take the time to do what is right. It's that simple. It doesn't take but a few seconds to add, in this case, alt text or title text.

yep, as i have always told fellow developers, you don't have to surf a site with a mobile device to see what it will look like. Just download FF and the web developer toolkit, then disable styles and you will see how it renders.

Sometimes, when I tell people that it took me 3 weeks to do a site that they say takes them 3 hours, and get laughed at, they surprisingly never ask me why it takes that long - it is because I actually take my time to do certain things, be it applying alt and title tags, debugging in general, testing across multiple browsers, etc.

There is also a monetary aspect to this. This probably doesn't apply to Nigeria but it will one day, at which time, you will be glad you coded your site with web standards in mind in advance - in some countries, you could get sued for millions if people with disabilities can't use your site. Even if you aren't sued, remember, perfectly healthy humans aren't your only revenue target. You want to get money even from the blind person.

At the end of the day, you really want to make your website accessible to as many people as possible.

The only solution that comes to mind is that you check your code for errrors. Also, click the link I gave you and the first one should open up a microsoft website that pretty much says upgrade to the latest. Then maybe you put a sniffer on there that tells ppl to go upgrade.

Worse case, It might be time to pull out a scalpel and do some surgery (code the header, test code the navigation, test, etc).

Visit their "contact us" pages and/or google for same.

IE is wack but what can we do? Yeah, somehow, those cafes will need to told that they need to upgrade. I have already started adding to the footer section of all sites I code for, "this site is optimized for IE7+ and FF2+"

I have read the posts here for a while. In my philosophy that for such posts, it is similar to prey being stalked by a predator while you are filiming in yankari games reserve, I allowed this post to stay. Now, I think the points have been made and it needs to go private. As one of the moderators, I am getting flooded with requests that this thread be locked.

I am going to speak based on what I have read. I am not saying either party(ies) is/are right or wrong as let's face it, we are on a public forum and anyone can say anything. It's one's word against the others:

To both parties:
Please take this private. If it means going to a court of law, so be it. I think nairalanders have now become fully aware of what has gone down. I, and I am sure others pray that this issue be resolved amicably and soonest.

I will let this thread marinate for a few more hours, noting the communication before deciding whether or not to lock it down.

Anyways, based on my 2nd bolded statement above, now you are talking.  My (obviously bad) attempt at sarcasm was a result of you not being specific.

Here is what I would do: Google for banks in say, US and Nigeria, *take the pains* to go through each and note what you like and don't like.  Then combine all of what you like into one new site. That's what I do. In fact, I typically look at at least 50 sites before coming up with something  

If you want me to do it, then we can talk.  Just arm yourself with the requirements.  I typically deliver in 3 weeks.  I am also on YIM (yawatide).
