AutoReportNG2: A few days ago, AutoReportNG did an assessment of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit, we are able to see the workers were faring at the site and how things are done in order to make things work. In this post, we will be looking at the trains, what it looks like and some other interesting pictures you would not want to miss.
It was reported in 2011 when the former governor of Lagos State, Mr Babatunde Fashola inspected some H5 and H6 cars in Canada according to reports, " A company called Eko Rail has a deal to buy 255 H5 and H6 cars from the TTC to furnish a 27-kilometre surface rail line in Lagos, Nigeria." We are not sure if this is the same train or maybe the Lagos state government had a change of mind and gave the contract to the Chinese firm or what, we are yet to conclude, but no matter the case, we will keep you posted

Politics › Re: 2019: Why I Want To Be Nigeria’s President – Sule Lamido by yemi15(m): 3:59pm On Mar 23, 2018 |

A former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, on Thursday said his presidential ambition was not out of desperation for power, but for genuine service to the people of Nigeria.
Mr. Lamido made the statement in Lagos during a meeting with members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
He said his decision to contest for the number one seat in the country was out of commitment to fix the country and reposition it for greatness.
The former governor said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had not done well in government, and so must be flushed out in the next election.
Mr. Lamido said the country had not fared better in security, economy and anti -graft war, on which they anchored their manifesto.
He cited the herdsmen killings and the resurgence of Boko Haram atrocities as some of the failings of the present government.
Mr. Lamido said the abduction of Dapchi schoolgirls, who were eventually returned, reflected the lack of capacity of the present government government to ensure security.
He urged the PDP to put its acts together to defeat the APC in 2019.
“We in the PDP should put our acts together and ensure we flush APC out in 2019.
“God would judge us if we allow the APC to return to power,” the ex-governor who is being prosecuted for corruption, said.
Mr. Lamido urged the would-be delegates to the PDP national convention to look out for merit, consistency and loyalty to the party in choosing the party’s presidential candidate.
He said he was eminently qualified to pick the party ‘s ticket as he was consistent, committed and an avowed member of the PDP.
Mr. Lamido thanked members of the Lagos PDP for the warm reception accorded him and thanked the party chairman in the state for facilitating his coming to Lagos.
He said he once worked in Lagos and felt at home being with the PDP family in the state.
In his comments, the state party chairman, Moshood Salvador, said members were delighted to have Lamido in their midst.
He said the high turnout at the reception showed how much members loved him.
Mr. Salvador dismissed the insinuations in some quarters that PDP was divided in the state.
He said the fact that party executives across the state were at the reception meant that PDP in the state was one.
“PDP is not divided in the state. All the council excos are here. Everybody is here. The party is not divided.
“Whatever bad people are saying about the party in the state is nothing but all lies,” he said.
Mr. Salvador said he had done a lot to reposition the party since he was elected, and the spirit in the party was very high.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Lamido was accompanied on the visit by former Minister of Works, Mr Mike Onomalemen, among others.

Politics › Re: Apapa Bridge; A Disaster Awaiting To Happen - Photos by yemi15(m): 3:25pm On Mar 23, 2018 |
AutoReportNG2: Apapa bridge is a major bridge in Lagos as it links people from the Island to the mainland especially those in Ajegunle, Ijora, Wharf among others. The Nigerian government is known to have a bad maintenance culture as they don't repair roads or maintain it except if they want to use it to score a cheap political point. The honourable minister of works and housing Mr. Babatunde Fashola as at 2016 visited this bridge to access the damage but it seems nothing has been done so far.
The state of Apapa-Ijora Bridge is saddening because it is a major artery to Apapa, home of Nigeria’s most utilised seaports. Because rail and water transportation have collapsed, we necessarily depend on roads to transport imported goods, including fuel, to various parts of the country from the ports. This has put more stress on the roads even as it has become a nightmare for commuters.
This is a bridge that one does not have to be an engineer to know that it is a disaster waiting to happen. Its expansion joints are broken, with columns supporting it peeling off even as the integrity of its alignment is suspect. According to a trader under the bridge, “there is always unusual vibration under the bridge when trucks travel over the expansion joints.”
AutoReportNG on his tour to Apapa saw the bad sharp of the pillars of the bridge, these are the pillars that support the bridge as they have already falling off. We noticed most of the pillars are blown off and they have started peeling, for a bridge of such magnitude then an immediate action needs to be taken as soon as possible. The bridge has been neglected for over 12 years, despite the fact that it was engulfed in a fire about six years ago, which worsened its condition. We bring you pictures from our tour, enjoy!!!

I know that generally in the US, it is offensive for whites to use the Nigga word for a black person, but very much acceptable for a black person to use it on a black person. Yes, so true, how can one then know when said by a white man which one it is as the nigger word especially is very offensive? |

And to think DSS , an apparatus of state negotiated the release but accepted terms to leave a xtian girl behind is maddening. If CAN do not speak up today about this and demand her immediate and unconditional release, then I'd know that the organisation is filled with self serving douchebags. Trust me there is no difference! Why would I or a reasonable person want to spend that kind of money in the first place? Compensation's aim is not the money for the families, rather as a punitive action that could render the erring parties bankrupt, serving as a deterrence to others! Life insurance policy covers compensation in case of actual accidental death abroad and their insurance works unlike here. So why would I want to sue someone to court for compensation if not that my aim is to actually bankrupt the company or hit their bottom-line hard? You can see now why compensations abroad are usually a large sum. |
